Master P Promises An NBA Championship If Made A New Orleans Coach

Master P is one of the most vocal basketball fans in all of hip-hop. His “Make ‘Em Say Ughh” video was set on a court, and he spent years playing professional ball for the CBA and ABA. He even spent a brief stint on the Toronto Raptors training camp roster. The man born Percy Miller has basketball in his blood, and he wants to put his passion to good use. He told TMZ that he wants to be considered for a coaching position with his hometown team, the New Orleans Pelicans. To describe him as “confident” would be an understatement.

The New Orleans Pelicans went 49-33 last season, but Master P is hopeful for the future. He thinks within a few years time that the team could be a legitimate contender. And he wants to join the ride. “I think we got a great team,” the rapper explained. “I just think that maybe we gotta wait a couple more years.” His solution for those wanted to see the team win ASAP? Hire him. P is so sure of his coaching skills that he promised the Pelicans would win an NBA title in 2025 if they made use of him as a coach. “Y’all need to put me on the coaching staff next year,” he asserted. “We gonna win the whole thing.”

Master P Has Wanted To Coach The Pelicans For Years

Master P has been trying to coach the Pelicans for a half decade. He sang a similar tune to TMZ in 2020, when he noted that his experience as an entertainer would bring more eyes to the franchise. “The NBA is entertainment, I think it’s time for me to be the first hip-hop coach,” he claimed. “If they bring me in as a head coach or assistant coach, I think I can change the game.” He also spoke highly of Zion Williamson, who remains the Pelicans’ star player.

It’s ironic that Master P’s success as a rapper has put in such a powerful position, because it initially held him back in his basketball career. He claimed that his explicit lyrics made him a target when he played on the Charlotte Hornets training camp team. “The GM, Bob Bass, called me in and said, ‘You can play. You are a helluva basketball player, but your music is pure filth and it’s a Bible Belt city,’”, he recalled. “And they let me go.” Only time will tell if Master P’s Pelicans dream will come true.

Boosie Badazz Vents His Frustrations With New Orleans Pelicans For Lowballing Him: “They Don’t F*** With Me”

Boosie Badazz has a bone to pick and this time it is not with another rapper. He has always been an outspoken figure in the genre for better or worse. But, in this case, he has a solid point to make here. The Louisiana MC is one of the main faces when you think of artists from the Southern state. However, the New Orleans Pelicans are not looking to cater to him, even with all of the things he has done. According to HipHopDX, Boosie has been having issues with the NBA franchise for quite some time. From what we know, it seems to stem from the “insulting” offers the organization have been dishing out.

The trap rap star went on a rant on his Instagram Live and essentially called out the franchise for being cheap. His two main gripes with the Pelicans have to do with only being paid $1,000 for a performance at the arena, as well as no courtside seats. “They don’t wanna give me no courtside tickets. That’s cold-blooded. The Pelicans, they don’t fuck with me. Not the players, just… every time I try to get courtside tickets, I can’t get courtside tickets.”

Boosie Badazz Says Thanks But No Thanks To The Pelicans

He laughed off the lowball and continued to say that the Atlanta Hawks offer way more. “[They] pay $10,000, $7,500 to perform to their artists, and courtside seats.” That is quite ludicrous, especially because he is not synonymous with Georgia nearly as much as Louisiana. Boosie even went on to reveal that they asked him to perform for an HBCU celebration with the same “cold-blooded” offer. “They wanted me to perform at the HBCU night. Them people said $1K and I’m from Louisiana. That’s crazy. I’m like, ‘That don’t come with courtside seats?’ They’re like, ‘No.’ I think I told ’em, ‘I appreciate it but I’m good. I feel like that’s an insult.’”

What are your thoughts on Boosie Badazz not being able to get courtside seats for the Pelicans game? Is $1,000 too low of a payout to perform? Why do you think the organization cannot be more accommodating? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. C’mon Pelicans you got to do better!

Louisiana native Boosie Badazz said that he can’t even get courtside seats in his home state at a New Orleans Pelicans game even after the team offered him $1,000 to perform twice in one night. He responded that even in Atlanta, the Hawks pay artists at least $10K just to perform once.

Even though Boosie said we wasn’t feeling the vibes fron the Pelicans, he said he was still fgoing to rock a Saints hat to rep his home state.

SOURCE SPORTS: Pelicans Guard CJ McCollum Suffers Collapsed Lung

cjmcollum

New Orleans Pelicans swingman CJ McCollum has a collapsed right lung. According to ESPN, the Pelicans stated McCollum has a “small pneumothorax” revealed by medical imagining.

A pneumothorax is detailed as “when air leaks into the space between your lung and chest wall. This air pushes on the outside of your lung and makes it collapse. A pneumothorax can be a complete lung collapse or a collapse of only a portion of the lung,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

McCollum once suffered a pneumothorax during his stint with the Portland Trailblazers. Currently, McCollum averages 21.7 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds.

The team is expected to provide an update on McCollum in the next 48 hours.

Zion Williamson Trade Rumors Get Crucial Update

Zion Williamson has been at the center of some harsh reports over the last few weeks. Firstly, he was being accused by porn star Moriah Mills of being unfaithful. Overall, the Mills stuff has been extremely humiliating. Although the internet is largely on his side, having his alleged business aired out like this has been hard to watch. Moreover, it has come with all sorts of rumors about his status in New Orleans and what is going to happen to him, moving forward.

For instance, there are some people trying to say the New Orleans Pelicans want to trade him. Essentially, the Pelicans are reportedly looking at the second or third pick in the draft. However, in order to get this, they will need to trade someone like Brandon Ingram or Zion, hence all of the rumors. However, as William Guillory of The Athletic reports, these Zion rumors are extremely far-fetched right now.

Zion Williamson Speculation Grows Larger

“Zion getting traded before Thursday’s draft is fairly unlikely, multiple league sources tell The Athletic. Each was granted anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss potential trades,” Guillory wrote. “The Pelicans have yet to even include Williamson in any formal offers made to the teams holding top-3 picks, league sources tell The Athletic. There have been varying reports about how much interest Charlotte or Portland would even have in shipping off the No. 2 or No. 3 picks in a potential Williamson trade.”

At this point, it is unlikely that Zion will be in another jersey next year. However, the off-court drama needs to stop. Otherwise, the Pelicans may have to get involved. Hopefully, Williamson can leave it all on the court this year. Let us know what you think of all this, in the comments section below. New Orleans Pelicans Are Contenders With Healthy Zion Williamson, Claims JJ Redick

We love the smell of trade rumors in the morning. This week, the major rumor has concerned the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans currently hold the 14th pick in the draft. However, the rumor mill has them pushing to move as high as #2 in a bid to draft Scoot Henderson. These rumors blew up earlier today when Brian Windhorst suggested that teams are waiting to see if the Pelicans would be willing to make Zion Williamson available as part of a potential trade.

“I think it’s fair to say, based on my conversations, there’s an eye being kept towards whether the Pelicans would make Zion Williamson available ahead of trying to get into that top end of the draft,” Windhorst said. Williamson is an elite player when he’s on the floor. However, he has missed 214 games since he was drafted. That’s equivalent to 65.2% of all Pelicans games since his rookie season. Furthermore, the increasingly scandalous reports surrounding his personal life are likely to make a number of execs question whether he’s the sort of influence they want on the team. But there’s one person who is strongly opposed to these rumors.

JJ Reddick Wants Zion To Stay In New Orleans

Speaking on First Take, JJ Redick laid out why the Pelicans shouldn’t trade Zion. “[The Pelicans] are not that far away with a healthy Zion. He’s that good. … I think he’s a generational talent when he’s on the basketball court. … If he’s in shape, I’m not moving him.” The 2022-23 campaign marked the Pelicans’ first winning season since 2018. However, most of the 42-40 record was done without Zion on the floor. Williamson played in just 29 games before succumbing to injury. However, before his injury, the Pelicans were second in the Western Conference. The issue is, will Williamson ever be able to stay healthy? In his four seasons in the league, he has only played more than 30 games in one of them. As previously mentioned, he has missed 65% of the team’s games since he was drafted.

However, could that be a blessing in disguise? The Portland Trail Blazers hold the third overall pick and have made it very clear that they are willing to trade if it means building a title contender for Damian Lillard next season. Zion Williamson would likely be a great piece to add to that team. However, would they be willing to pull the trigger given his injury history? That is to say, Zion’s injury history could be the thing that keeps him in New Orleans and thus keeps the Pelicans a contender. But what do you think? Let us know in the comments. Zion Williamson Floated As Trade Piece Amid Draft Rumors

The New Orleans Pelicans finished the 2022-23 season 42-40, marking their first winning since 2018. Despite falling to the Thunder in the Play-In tournament, it was a sign that the franchise was moving in the right direction. However, most of the season’s success was achieved without former first-overall pick Zion Williamson. Williamson, who has struggled with injuries since joining the league in 2019, played in just 29 games this season.

In the NBA Draft Lottery, the Pelicans drew the 14th overall pick. However, whether they stay there is another story. According to Shams Charania, the Pelicans are eager to make a trade that would give them the second or third pick in the draft. These picks are currently held by the Charlotte Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers respectively. However, what would the Pelicans be willing to give up in order to move that far up the draft board?

Zion Williamson Could Be Traded

If the Pelicans moved up, it would be to acquire G-League standout Scoot Henderson. However, a move from #14 to #2/#3 would require a lot of capital. Brian Windhorst addressed whether those trades could include Williamson on ESPN‘s Get Up. “I think it’s fair to say, based on my conversations, there’s an eye being kept towards whether the Pelicans would make Zion Williamson available ahead of trying to get into that top end of the draft.” However, it must be mentioned that Williamson has a poison pill trade clause in his contract until July 1.

A package to get into the top three would have to include a mix of favorable draft picks and good on-court talent. But how valuable is Williamson? Obviously, he’s an elite player when he’s on the floor. However, he has missed 214 games since he was drafted. That’s equivalent to 65.2% of all Pelicans games since his rookie season. Furthermore, the increasingly scandalous reports surrounding his personal life are likely to make a number of execs question whether he’s the sort of influence they want on the team. Despite these concerns, he will still likely be an enticing prospect. This applies especially to the Blazers, who are adamant about building a “win-now” team around Damian Lillard. Any updates on these rumors will be reported here on HotNewHipHop.

CJ McCollum Calls Out Pelicans For Lack Of Preparation

CJ McCollum will join his former Trail Blazers teammates as spectators of the postseason. The New Orleans Pelicans came up just short in their play-in tournament elimination game on Wednesday. But the Pelicans do have somewhat of an excuse. Pelicans star Zion Williamson was unavailable for the win-or-go-home matchup. However, it does seem like Zion could have been available after his dunk show before the game. Williamson’s injury has been a major point of discussion for the Pelicans franchise.

Also, Zion’s injury seems to be a discussion within the team. McCollum had this to say to the media on how the Pelicans can prepare for next season. “We’ve got to be available. We’ve got to do what we need to do off the court in terms of preparation, getting treatment, getting the right sleep, the right type of hydration, having the right type of diet.” Obviously, McCollum’s comments seem like a little shot at Zion’s availability. Williamson has recently mentioned that physically he is healthy. However, he just doesn’t feel like Zion yet.

CJ McCollum Not Pulling Punches On Pelicans Issues

Assumptions have been running wild with Williamson missing Wednesday’s play-in tournament. Now his teammates have begun to wonder why he isn’t on the court. The Pelicans could potentially be a great team in the near future. However, a lot of that potential success depends on Williamson. McCollum’s comments could be good advice for any player struggling to stay healthy. But his words just seem to fit the perfect description when picturing Zion Williamson. Ultimately, the point McCollum was trying to make in the first place.

Undoubtedly the Pelicans felt like they were better than a play-in exit. With talents like McCollum and Brandon Ingram, this team could have easily avoided the play-in with Zion’s help. But unfortunately, the former number one overall pick wasn’t ready for the moment. Do you believe that CJ McCollum’s comments were directed at Zion? Will Zion ever play for the New Orleans Pelicans again? Please leave us your thoughts on the topic in the comment section. As always, stay right here with us at HNHH for the latest NBA news.
