IDK’s ‘Flow’ Won’t Be Ignored Thanks To His Introspective New Single

Last month, IDK bounced back on the scene with his latest studio album, BRAVADO + INTiMO. However, the “Denim” rapper still had so much to offer outside of the project’s twelve original tracks.

Today (December 20), the PG County representative released a follow-up to the body of work as a holiday treat for supporters. On “Flow,” IDK performs a lyrical twofer. Firstly, IDK looks to wait those still sleeping on his emcee abilities up. But as you dive further into the song, IDK is paying homage to just how far is flow has propelled him in the rap game.

“The flow is the answer / Water the plants I dance with the daisies actually / Ants inside of my pants got me antsy / Anties hoping and praying the kids will understand me / Labels is praying and wishing and working for the Grammys / Granny praying and praying I duck the double whammies / Family happy only when I can come in handy / Never giving no handy so they can never stand me,” he raps.

IDK hasn’t cracked through to the hip-hop mainstream, but he’s nearly there. For now, he’s grateful for where he is at this precise moment.

Watch IDK’s official video for his new single “Flow” above.

BRAVADO + INTiMO is out on now via .idk. Find more information here.

G Herbo Treats Fans To Exclusive New Mixtape “Best Rapper Alive”

G Herbo must have taken notice of how well J. Cole’s Inevitable podcast did. The latter was able to give his fans exclusive content behind a paywall, and Herbo attempted something very similar with his latest mixtape, Best Rapper Alive. Instead of dropping the tape on Spotify or Apple Music, or even YouTube, he decided to post it on his own website. Well, an app that one can download from his website. The rapper is trying to cut out the middle man and cater directly to his fanbase with Best Rapper Alive. The music is exactly what you’d expect.

Best Rapper Alive boasts 16 tracks, and G Herbo does his thing on pretty much all of them. “Through the Fire” and “Roc Block” are showcases for the rapper’s charismatic delivery. G Herbo has already given his fans two separate projects in 2024. Including the aptly titled Strictly for My Fans 2.0. It’s a little bit ironic, though, that he decided to put Best Rapper Alive on an exclusive app instead of the one specifically titled after his fans. We digress. “Blueprint” and “Hold Me Down” are also standout cuts that boast slick beats and spirited vocal performances from G Herbo. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to download a whole new app to listen. Those who do, though, will be pleased.

Let us know what you think of this brand new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Drake Teases New Music “From The North” In Moody Instagram Post

It’s anybody’s guess what Drake is doing. The rapper has had an odd couple of months. He’s notched some impressive awards and statistics, despite taking what many consider to be a massive L during the Kendrick Lamar battle. He was the most streamed rapper on Spotify (again), and he won three statues at the Billboard Music Awards. Perhaps the recognition inspired him. Drake took to Instagram on Thursday, December 19 to confirm that he’s working on new music. He also confirmed producer Noah “40” Shebib is working alongside him.

Drake posted a photo of 40 working in front of a fireplace decorated for Christmas. The producer has a laptop open, and is very obviously working on a song. Drake doesn’t appear in the photo, but he included the caption: “strong winds from the north.” It’s unclear if the 6 God means the north of Toronto, or if he’s working from his new home in Texas. It’s the first time the rapper has confirmed that new music is in the works, either way. A relief, given that fans are still waiting on the collaborative album between him and his OVO brother, PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Drake And 40 Are Working On New Material

Drake announced that his collab with PND would be out before the end of 2024. We only have so many days left in the year, though. It looks likely that the joint album has been delayed. PND promised fans he would get down to business finishing it once he got off tour, but it’s unclear if the rapper has completed his contributions. It’s possible that the song 40 is mixing on IG is one that’ll end up on the collab album. It’s a wise move on Drake’s part to generate anticipation for new music, though, given that most of the press he’s gotten lately has been negative.

The rapper reportedly plans to sue Universal Music Group and Spotify for using shady tactics to boost the streams of Kendrick Lamar’s diss, “Not Like Us.” He has been criticized by peers, fans, and various members of the media for his decision. The most recent derision came from Snoop Dogg. The L.A. icon went on the Bootleg Kev Podcast and claimed Drake was not acting in a way becoming of a rapper. “On the West, we hold court in the streets,” Snoop asserted. “That’s just what we call it.”

Gunna Mellows Out With Catchy New Single “GOT DAMN”

Gunna has taken lots of hits in the last year. The rapper has done an excellent job of keeping his head down and dropping music that his fans love, though. Gunna serves up consistent music to vibe out to, whether it’s an aggressive vibe or a mellowed out one. “GOT DAMN,” his new single, falls in the second camp. The title may suggest a wild trap anthem, but the song is actually one of the more laid back and contemplative releases Gunna has dropped in quite a while.

The instrumental is minimal and relaxing. It’s catchy in a subtle way. A kick drum coming in and out are pretty much the only variations we get, but it works. Gunna, meanwhile, reflects on his life and the ways in which it can be psychologically draining. The chorus is both catchy and indicative of how exhausted he has been since becoming a star. “On and off the jet, god damn (Damn),” he raps. “I don’t get no rest, god damn (Damn). I want my respect, god damn, I been running up a check, yeah, yeah (Up a check).” Gunna doesn’t drop any dense bars, but he treats fans to cogent bars and a sneaky catchy chorus. We’re eager to see where the rapper goes in 2025.

SZA Delays “LANA (SOS Deluxe)” But Drops New Single “Drive”

All eyes were on SZA. The singer had been teasing the release of LANA (SOS Deluxe) all week, but when it came time for the album to drop, there was nothing. What happened? Well, SZA took to social media to confirm that the album has been delayed. She did, however, treat fans to some new material. She put out a new song titled “Drive,” and even dropped a music video starring actor and filmmaker Ben Stiller. It isn’t the flawless rollout we hope for, but it’s better than nothing!

SZA told fans that the album was still being mixed, and she therefore needed more time. “Had to get my mixes right,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. She did confirm, however, that LANA (SOS Deluxe) will be dropping on Friday morning. She’s taking a page out of her former label mate, Kendrick Lamar’s book and releasing during the day instead of midnight. In the meantime, there’s the song. SZA previously gave fans a glimpse of the music video when she announced the album’s release date. A brief section of Ben Stiller singing in a car was enough to entice fans. Now that we have the full video and song, though, we can confirm SZA has not lost her touch.

SZA Blamed The LANA (SOS Deluxe) Delay On Mixing

“Drive” is SZA is retrospective mode. She croons over a gentle, guitar-driven instrumental that fans of “Supermodel” or “Snooze” should love. The singer also debuts the odd, bug-like version of herself that she teased on the LANA (SOS Deluxe) album cover. It’s still unclear how this new persona will factor in to the album and its overall themes. It’s definitely visually striking. Ben Stiller can be seen singing in the car and then driving out to the woods to dance in front of his car. It’ll be interesting to see whether the actor appears in subsequent videos, or if there’s a larger narrative.

SZA has been on a roll as of late. “Drive” is another quality single, a few months removed from her stellar guest appearances on Kendrick Lamar’s GNX. The singer told British Vogue that she is in a good place in her life creatively, and it shows. “I think I am making music from a more beautiful place,” she said. “From a more possible place versus a more angsty place.” We can’t wait to get the full album.

Fat Joe Declares 2024 “The Worst Year In Hip Hop History”

Fat Joe has been extremely active in 2024. The Terror Squad founder has been on countless podcasts and hosted the BET Awards. He met with Vice President Kamala Harris, and performed during the World Series. He also dropped a new album, The World Changed on Me. The title of the album is an excellent indicator of the way Fat Joe feels about the current rap landscape. He may still be relevant, but he feels that the genre has never been worse in terms of cultural impact.

Fat Joe delivered this hot take during a recent appearance on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast. He reflected on the year in hip hop, and felt that the musical output was not up to snuff. “I woke up 2024 feeling like [God dammit!] It’s been a horrible year,” the “Lean Back” rapper asserted. “I was just having a heated discussion with my people [about this].” Fat Joe wasn’t simply let down by the music, though. He also felt that the scrutiny that hip hop legends like Diddy and Jay-Z have come under has also damaged the genre’s reputation.

Fat Joe Claims Rappers Are More “Scrutinized”

“All our legends. All our mentors getting scrutinized,” Fat Joe asserted. “This is the worst time to be a celebrity in history. I’m not sure you guys wanna be celebrities.” Joe came up at the very same time as Diddy and Jay-Z. He even had a multi-year feud with Jay and Roc-A-Fella Records in the late 90s and early 2000s. He’s unhappy with the way their personal lives have impacted the culture, however. It’s the combination of music and scandal that led to Joey Crack’s massive declaration. “This might be the worst year ever in hip hop history type sh*t,” he stated. “This sh*t bad.”

Fat Joe admitted that he’s been forced to acclimate to the current rap landscape during a Breakfast Club interview. He told the hosts that he’s changed. “My circle gets smaller and smaller and smaller,” Fat Joe explained. “You know, unfortunately, sometimes people we love, we catch them doing things they ain’t supposed to do. So we got to get them up out the way. And that’s hard.” Hopefully Fat Joe can be part of the change he wants to see happen.

Playboi Carti’s “I AM MUSIC” Gets Promising Pre-Order Update

You know the drill by this point. Playboi Carti is the rapper who needs to be taken with the biggest grain of salt in terms of release date or album details. We’ve been waiting to hear I AM MUSIC for the majority of the 2020s. It seemed like we were in the home stretch when Playboi Carti dropped a lead single. But the wait has not gotten any easier. There has been no updates with regard to a release date or a second single. There has, however, been a significant update with regard to the album’s pre-order option.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed a crucial change on December 19. Playboi Carti released pre-order links for I AM MUSIC months ago. But they were delayed indefinitely as a result of the album’s continued tweaks. Fans were frustrated by the fact that they were allowed to pay for an album without a release date in sight. We might be closer to a date than we realized, though. I AM MUSIC bundles have been updated on the Carti site, and are currently listed as “ready to ship.” This update suggests that the album is complete, or close to being complete. Playboi Carti’s bundles include a shirt, hoodie, or hat depending on which bundle you selected. It also includes, crucially, a vinyl copy of the album.

Playboi Carti’s Album Bundles Are “Ready To Ship”

https://twitter.com/5pwdh/status/1869903065328853098

It’s exciting to see I AM MUSIC seemingly inch closer to a release date. The shipping update, however, does conflict with the collaborations that Playboi Carti has been teasing over the past few weeks. He’s been all over social media, hinting at future sessions with the likes of Lil Baby, Mustard, and even Metro Boomin. He posed for photos with Metro Boomin the day before the I AM MUSIC bundles were given an update. This could mean a few different things. Either Carti is trolling listeners, and he doesn’t plan on including these collabs on the album. Or the pre-order bundles are not as close to release as we think.

It’s impossible to tell what qualifies as a legitimate album update or wishful thinking on the part of fans. Especially since Playboi Carti seems to enjoy spreading misinformation about his own rollout. Time will tell if the bundles prove to be a true indicator of I AM MUSIC‘s release. We can only wait and hope.

Tyga Reveals Title And Release Date For Solo Comeback Album

Tyga was sneakily one of hip hop’s most reliable hitmakers in the 2010s. He dropped a smash single every couple years, and bagged a trio of crossover top ten hits in the process. It’s been a long time since Tyga has released a full body of work, however. The rapper hasn’t dropped a solo album since Legendary in 2019, which contained “Taste.” There were rumors of Tyga working on something, but December 19th yielded proof. The rapper unveiled the album cover, title, and release date for his upcoming album.

Tyga uploaded the artwork for the album on Instagram Thursday morning. It sees the rapper looking into the distance, while two women wait for him in bed. The title supports this lewd aesthetic: Not Suitable for Work, of NSFW. Tyga has always thrived when it comes to making NSFW anthems like “Make It Nasty” or the aforementioned “Taste,” so the new branding makes complete sense. Tyga released pre-order links for the album, which is scheduled for release on January 31. This means there’l be a staggering six year gap between Tyga’s solo albums.

Tyga’s Not Suitable For Work Drops January 31

Tyga had given plenty of indicators of a new album in the last few months. The rapper dropped promo singles like “Bops Goin’ Brazy” in 2023 and “Sensei” in 2024. He also hyped up the prospect of music during a recent interview with Rolling Loud. “New album, new album,” he revealed, when asked his plans for 2025. “I’m mixing it right now. So, album, tour.” Tyga was hesitant to reveal any more info about the album, but he did confirm that he’ll have some notable collaborators. “We just got to see, you know?,” the rapper remarked. “Working on a few features.” The rapper may not have been dropping new solo music, but he has continued to pop up on other people’s songs.

Tyga dropped a guest verse on the breakout Tinashe smash “Nasty” in July. The singer told People Magazine that Tyga was the perfect artist to get on the single, given its NSFW topic. “Tyga has a legacy of making nasty bops,” Tinashe explained. “He has a history of nasty-related themes, so I felt like he was perfect and fit that West Coast vibe in that sense.” Hopefully he can continue his legacy and give fans a few more hits in the new year.

Lil Baby Confirms Titles And Release Dates For Both Of His 2025 Albums

Lil Baby has never been the most prolific rapper. He’s released music at a steady pace since breaking out in the late 2010s. He’s never equalled the release rate of mentors like Future or Young Thug. Well, before 2025. Lil Baby recently went on Lil Yachty’s A Safe Place Podcast to discuss his plans for the upcoming year. He revealed that he has not only one, but two albums in store. Furthermore, he confirmed the titles and release dates for both releases.

Lil Baby claimed that he originally planned to drop an album called Dominique. The recording sessions for the album proved so fruitful, however, that he decided to create a brand new project to accompany it. “Now I’m gonna drop a WHAM album and a Dominique album,” he told Lil Yachty. “Completely different album.” Yachty asked whether the two albums would be spread out throughout 2025. Lil Baby is going to try and dominate the first couple months of the year, however. He revealed that the WHAM album will be dropping on January 3. Dominque is expected to drop a month later, in February.

Lil Baby Plans To Drop Albums In Consecutive Months

Lil Baby admitted that it was difficult to determine which songs should end up on which album. “I still put some of the songs I was gonna use for Dominique on WHAM,” he stated. “I know my fanbase really want to hearing them certain songs.” He went on to identify WHAM as the more aggressive sounding album of the two. “WHAM is more like me on some young n**ga sh*t,” Lil Baby asserted. “Fast cars, girls, jewelry. The turnt lifestyle.” Dominique, on the other hand, will be more “serious” in tone and subject matter. “Its more personal,” he concluded.

Lil Baby has not had the easiest year, so the “serious” tone makes sense. The rapper returned from a lengthy hiatus with the single “5AM” in November. He promoted the single on Instagram, along with a message detailing the issues he’d been dealing with in years prior. “I had the darkest period of my life these last two years,” he admitted. “But I stayed down and overcame that sh*t. Now I’m back to f*ckin sh*t up as usual.” The way Lil Baby signed off the message: “Who hard as me. Let’s go,” denotes that he’s ready to dominate the rap game.

Playboi Carti Fuels Album Rumors By Reuniting With Metro Boomin

Playboi Carti is the most unpredictable man in hip hop. Which is saying a lot, since Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar exist. Carti is a cut above the other two when it comes to saying one thing in relation to an album and then doing the complete opposite. He has been teasing the release of I AM MUSIC for a few years now, and it doesn’t feel as though we’re any closer to it becoming a reality. Or maybe it will drop over the holidays, like Whole Lotta Red. Playboi Carti delights in confusing his fans, and he did so once again on December 18.

Playboi Carti decided to post new photos of him alongside Metro Boomin on Instagram. The two posed in front of a jeep, while Carti used a hat to cover up his face. There wasn’t any mention of a collab, but Carti did write “Me N Tro 2 Tough Fr.” We all know Playboi Carti is working on a new album, so the decision to link up with Metro Boomin feels very intentional. The rapper knows that it will drum up attention for I AM MUSIC. Playboi Carti and Metro Boomin have proven to be a formidable duo in the past. They worked on “Minute” with NAV and “Type Sh*t” with Future and Travis Scott. Carti was also featured on “Popular,” a song that was scrapped from Metro’s Heroes vs Villains album.

Playboi Carti Posed For Photos With Metro Boomin

Metro Boomin is the latest superstar to be teased as an I AM MUSIC collaborator. Playboi Carti took to Instagram last week to hint at upcoming collaborations with the likes of Lil Baby and Mustard. He posted a screenshot of a text conversation with Lil Baby’s manager, implying that the rappers plan to connect in the near future. Playboi Carti also posted a screenshot of an Instagram DM from Mustard. The man who made “Not Like Us” suggested that he and Carti link up to make some magic in the studio.

Then there’s the aforementioned Kanye West. Metro Boomin announced that West will be producing all over I AM MUSIC during a recent Las Vegas performance. “Shout out to my n**ga Kanye, you know what I’m saying,” the rapper stated. “He over here making beats and sh*t. That album gonna be [wild], I can’t wait to show y’all n**gas.” Playboi Carti previously claimed that he wanted I AM MUSIC to be something he made on his own, he’s clearly changed his mind and gone the collaboration route. At least, it looks that way. Who really knows?
