Finesse2Tymes Releases New Single And Music Video For “Can’t Go To Jail” After Recent Arrest

Polarizing and up-and-coming Memphis rapper Finesse2Tymes recently got into some hot water with the authorities. With everything going on around him, he decided to make a new song around the situation. “Can’t Go To Jail,” released on September 1, also got the music video treatment and that has people buzzing. The visuals see Finesse2Tymes, in essence, recreating his arrest. He is driving fast in a Dodge Charger trying to lose the police. Eventually, they catch up to him and handcuff him.

In the chorus, the 2023 XXL Freshman raps that he cannot be behind bars because he feels he will not get a bail offer. As the one-minute and 58-second track comes close to ending, Finesse2Tymes also says, “I do this for C Murda (No Limit).” Lately, there has been a lot of noise and headlines around Master P’s brother C Murda. He is serving a mandatory life prison sentence for the murder of 16-year-old Steven Thomas at a closed club in Louisiana. A questionable line to spit in a song about his arrest.

Overall, the song is a typical trap song with the Memphis treatment. The beat is extremely aggressive and is provided by Memphis Track Boy. Finesse2Tymes is rapping like he is running from the police, which does add to the track. However, it is certainly a bold choice to make a music video and song around all of the legal trouble he is in.

Baby Tate’s “Jersey” Pays Homage To Jersey Club Music

Baby Tate continues to blow up and there are plenty of reasons for that. Even though she has been releasing music to streaming for nearly eight years now, it was around 2020 when her career began to really take off. The release of her song “I Am” with Flo Milli became a hit with listeners and it currently sits at over 88 million streams. “Hey, Mickey!” back in 2016 has also become immensely popular with over 133 million plays.

Then, in 2022 she made a short but fun appearance on the now platinum single “Surround Sound.” A lead single to JID’s third solo album, The Forever Story, also featuring 21 Savage, became a fan-favorite. It is the highest-streamed track on the critically-acclaimed LP thanks in part to Baby Tate. Now, her second single released under her name, “Jersey,” might be another viral hit.

Rap Duo Coyote Team Up For The Collab Of A Lifetime With Shaquille O’Neal On “3 Lokos”

The rap combo of brothers Ladies Love Guapo and Ricky Blanco is fairly new to the Los Angeles rap scene. They started releasing music to streaming platforms about three years ago, and they have already recruited a legend to their newest single. “3 Lokos” features NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal, who if you were not aware is big in the music scene. The Diesel is also a DJ and longtime rapper, releasing his first song back in 1993, “(I Know I Got) Skillz.” That song would appear on his first studio album, Shaq Diesel.

Shaq quickly followed up a year later with his second full-length, Shaq-Fu: Da Return. However, he would take a long break from rapping until a few years past his retirement in 2011. In fact, 2016 was the next time he would hop on a beat. “My Squads Lit” by Pairanoid and Kryoman was the first track he would appear on in over 22 years. Since then, the Big Aristotle has become a massive DJ, packing outdoor shows and sending fans into moshpits. All of this history brings us to this new track from Coyote, “3 Lokos.”

According to TMZ, Shaq has been a fan of theirs for quite a while. Over time they formed a relationship, and the three of them began to work together in the studio. “[Shaq] was like as long as it’s some hardcore stuff, I’m down. So we made a hardcore hip hop ’90s-type song and we’re like ‘Bro, let’s send it to Shaq,’ and he got on it, did his thing, he spit like 32 bars. He went off!” Ladies Love Guapo said. Shaq certainly goes crazy over the aggressive instrumental. Shockingly, he does not curse one time, making it even more impressive. Hopefully, we get more moments like this from the Shaqtus.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new track, “3 Lokos,” by Coyote and Shaquille O’Neal? Did Shaq rap well on this cut? Is he the greatest former or current NBA player that can rap? Blac Youngsta Seemingly Releases A Tribute Album To His Late Brother With “Blac Sheep 2”

Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta is currently going through an extremely tough time in his life. He is still grieving the loss of his late brother Tomanuel Benson a few weeks ago. Tomanuel was reportedly shot by a man named Randy Ewing according to the Memphis Police Department at a gas station. It is still not official that it was Ewing, but he is the main suspect. Additionally, authorities still brought forth charges of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Even with a lot going on in Youngsta’s life, he is still in the headspace to release new material. That is why he just put out his sequel to his second 2023 project Blac Sheep. Blac Sheep 2 comes just four months later and contains 15 tracks, equaling a runtime of 42 minutes and 26 seconds. There are also no features here, just like the first Blac Sheep. However, there is more sentiment on this record, as quite a few tracks reference the recent tragic event of his lost brother.

For example, the closing song “Too Far” features Youngsta talking about moving carefully but also dangerously. In the outro to the track, he says, “Keep your motherf****n’ head down, keep your head up n**** no matter what goin’ on.” He continues, “Be careful out here / Stay dangerous and be safe at the same time / Be smart move wise Blac Sheep.” This seems to be a reference to the Instagram story he shared moments after the passing, “I’m Gone Make The World Pay. I Swear To God Nobody Safe. Standing Over Everybody. Everybody #4LIFE. Gone Make Sure They Feel Me I Promise.” It is not confirmed that this is partially a tribute to his family member, but with messages on tracks like this one, it is hard to deny that he was inspired to write some lyrics about it.

Smoke DZA And Flying Lotus Might Have An EP Of The Year Contender With “Flying Objects”

Smoke DZA and Flying Lotus are truly a match made in heaven. The duo has just released their first collaborative project together with their brand new EP. Flying Objects is one of the best, if not the best EPs of 2023 and we are about to break down why. Firstly though, let us give you the basic information and some background on it. Flying Objects is five tracks that equal a runtime of 14 minutes and 14 seconds. DZA brings on features from some heavy hitters in this quick effort. Conway the Machine, Black Thought, and Estelle appear in songs two, four, and five.

Furthermore, all of the production is handled by legendary Los Angeles producer, Flying Lotus. He brings elements of trap, cloud rap, boom-bap, and R&B. Finally, there were two singles for the promotion of this EP. “Drug Trade” with Black Thought and “Harlem World 97” with Estelle were both released in the past two months. Now, why is this EP so good? Well, both DZA and Lotus complement each other’s styles so well. The hazy, laid-back, and euphoric production along with the lyrics about dope, money, and being the man, is the perfect unison.

Perhaps the best song on the EP, “Drug Trade” featuring Black Thought, has it all. The woozy flow from DZA, the drums and whimsical synths from Lotus, and the lyrical talent from Thought form a truly special song. It is really sad that the duo does not have a full album together. But, we can continue to dream that will happen one day.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new EP, Flying Objects, from Smoke DZA and Flying Lotus? Is this one of the best EPs of 2023? Should Smoke DZA and Flying Lotus make a full-length project in the near future? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Blxst And Bino Rideaux Bring Their Seamless Chemistry On “Sixtape 3”

Los Angeles natives and now frequent collaborators Blxst and Bino Rideaux are back once again with more new music. Consistently over the past four years, the duo has released a new Sixtape every other year. The same remains true with Sixtape 3 now available on all streaming platforms. Both ultra-talented singers and rappers, Blxst and Bino have formed a pretty formidable duo in the West Coast scene. While they might not be the names you immediately mention, you cannot deny they are bringing a unique flavor.

The Sixtape series is known for its earworm hooks and effortless flows over trap and R&B beats. That trend continues here in the third installment. Blxst and Bino Rideaux make it look easy, especially on songs like “Doin Yo Stuff.” It is the ultimate love-making song with bouncy West Coast influence in its production and auto-tune-laced vocals. The melody that Blxst and Bino provide here is so smooth and effortless.

The R&B hits continue on the following track “Get Away.” It is another love cut but this one possesses more emotional weight that shows both artists missing their partners. Their love for them is so strong that it is hard to function when they are not around. Blxst sings in the chorus, “Ain’t no question, you should send that my way (My way) / I’m so reckless, I’ve been pressin’ all day (All day) / What do it take for us to get away? (Get away).” Overall, it should please their fanbases with the familiar vibes Sixtape 3 displays. Both artists continue to impress with their seamless connection on every track they hop on.

Knucks, Larry June, And Kenny Beats “I Suppose,” Make A Great Collaboration

UK rapper Knucks is making waves across the pond in the British music scene. So much so, that he teams up with one of the kings of vibe, Larry June, and famous producer Kenny Beats, for his new single. The song, “I Suppose,” is all about being at the top of the rap game even with people coming for you, but ignoring all of the outside noise. Knucks oozes confidence all over the glamorous trap production that Kenny Beats provides. The chorus, which is below, is so catchy and his unwavering personality sets up the rest of the track perfectly.

His verse is also great, as he raps, “Don’t even chat to me ’bout features, G /
N***** gotta pay me for the quote (What)
.” Then, when Larry June comes in, his post-chorus shows off his singing ability and he nails it. It is a nice segway into his verse where he thinks back to his past. However, it is about the journey and the struggles that make you great. He raps, “I been goin’ through motions, tryna make it home / Through these ups and downs, tryna right my wrongs / I still think about them days, I was losin’ hope / It’s levels to success, my n****, you the G.O.A.T.”

Overall, this song is really well put together. A lot of the credit deserves to go to Kenny Beats. He continues to lay down some terrific beats in the studio. He is a chameleon in that he can make your typical trap beat that gets your head nodding. But then, he can also surprise you with more unconventional production like on the short project with Denzel Curry, UNLOCKED. Everyone deserves their flowers for this song for the themes it provides as well as the production being grand and triumphant.

What are your initial thoughts on this new track from Kenny Beats, Knucks, and Larry June, “I Suppose?” Who has the best performance on the song? K. Michelle Announces Departure From R&B, Says She’s Sticking To Country Music

K. Michelle recently announced her upcoming album, I’m The Problem, for September 2023 release. Alongside the news, she also dropped off a soulful new single titled “I’m The Problem.” It’ll be the last R&B album she ever releases, marking her departure from the genre. Recently, the performer sat down with The Shade Room to discuss the career pivot.

K. Michelle shared that she’s set to appear on a tribute album to one of her favorite groups from her childhood, The Judds. She expressed her excitement for the opportunity, even getting emotional. Jelly Roll, Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton, and more are also featured on A Tribute to the Judds, which is set to drop in October of this year. “It was really unreal because they keep telling you like, ‘you can’t sing that cuz you’re Black,’” she explained. “I only did R&B because y’all kept telling me I couldn’t do that because of how I look or act.”

“To see a full circle, that’s crazy to me,” she continued. “To see that you’re on an album with Dolly Parton and everybody.” K. Michelle also went on to describe her experience performing at CMA Fest, revealing that it was much different than performances she’s done in the past. She says that she again felt held back from performing there previously, due to who she is. “CMA Fest for any country artist is huge,” she explained. “It was just amazing for me.”

“It’s really crazy, cuz it feels like when I do the things in my genre that I’m known for, I really be feeling like I have to fight my people to sing my music,” she revealed. The performer went on to say that if she’s going to be fighting for something, she’d rather fight for something that can inspire the younger generation. “If I’m gonna fight it’s gonna be for history,” she explained. Big Sean’s New Album Will Sample Three 6 Mafia

Since the music industry has become democratized, the phrase “there’s nothing new under the sun” has never felt more true. The current accessibility of creating songs means that many samples are used in similar ways, or at least frequently appear throughout the industry after trending on TikTok or other platforms. Some artists, such as Kelis, have expressed discontent with their throwback hits being repurposed. Others, like Juicy J, are grateful to see artists still putting beats he created with Three 6 Mafia to use. Big Sean is the latest to sample the Southern group. Of course, his “Precision” single hasn’t landed on streaming services quite yet.

As HipHopDX reports, the father of one gave us a taste of what’s to come on his upcoming album on Thursday (August 31). A minute-long preview of the unreleased song appeared in the new trailer for NBA 2K24‘s The City game mode. It’s set to release on September 8 and will honour Kobe Bryant with a tribute on the cover. Throughout the “Precision” teaser, fans can hear elements from Three 6 Mafia’s “Poppin’ My Collar,” which first landed back in 2005, helping to add more apple to Sean’s lyricism.

Big Sean Previews His Next Album

Aside from being used to promote the video game, it’s been noted that “Precision” is set to appear on Sean’s sixth studio album. Details surrounding the project remain sparse at this time. Now that we have an idea of what’s to come, it won’t be long before the single lands on DSPs. That will surely be followed with more updates from the Detroit native himself.

We’re certainly excited to hear that Big Sean has new music on the way. Still, that hasn’t stopped the growing concern about the obsessed fan that he and Jhene Aiko are hoping to take to court. Since there’s a newborn on their hands, it’s understandable why safety is a top priority for the famous pair. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Your Old Droog Shares Short Madlib-Produced “Waves Crashing”

Prolific New York rapper Your Old Droog is back with even more new material. The rapper has shared his 5th new song of 2023 and once again he’s teaming up with legendary producer Madlib. Madlib produced the beat for one of his earlier singles “Pronouns” which dropped back in April. The song runs nearly 3 minutes, which is long for Droog and it’s wrapped up over 200k streams on Spotify. The pair’s second collaboration of the year is shorter but even smoother.

The Youtube description for Your Old Droog’s new song “Waves Crashing” reads “something light” and he delivers on that. The track features a relaxed and vintage instrumental that Droog rides perfectly. Lyrically the song focuses on some familiar motifs for the rapper full of pop culture references and wordy raps about his abilities. The slick presentation of the bars and buttery smooth instrumental is a match made in heaven. Check out the brief but very memorable new track below.

Your Old Droog Delivers Something Light On New Madib Collab “Waves Crashing”

Your Old Droog also had a prolific 2022. He led off with a second collaborative album with Tha God Fahim called American Dream 2. He followed that up with a series of short releases including YOD Wave, The Yodfather, and more.
