Coi Leray Explores The Ups & Downs Of Love On “Lemon Cars” EP

Coi Leray is someone who is always looking to work on her versatility. Whether it be exploring R&B, rap, or even pop, the Massachusetts is the definition of a true multi-hyphenate. Coi Leray is showcasing that once again on her latest EP Lemon Cars. The 27-year-old announced the Mike WiLL Made-It joint project a few weeks ago over social media and she mentioned that she was going to be ushering in a new era for 2024. “It’s feeling good for yourself; looking in the mirror and just loving yourself. 2024 is going to be my grown and sexy era,” according to HipHopDX. “I’m taking over this year. I’ve got so much new music and a whole new side of me to get to know.”

She is definitely committing to that across this six-song effort. Across the project, Coi is exploring the different sides of love, breakups, and promiscuity. For example, on the opener and one of three singles, “Lemon Cars,” she talks about the latter and living for the nightlife. “We Time” sees Coi deeply in love and probably at her most vulnerable. “I need we time, take your sweet time / You and me time, show me that you mine / I need we time, take your sweet time / You and me time, show you what it’s like.”

On top of switching up the topics, Coi is also performing over severely different instrumentals to match the vibes she is delivering. For instance, on “Coke Bottle Baby” with Skilla Baby, which is all about flexing her body, the duo raps over a strip club-ready trap beat. Coi fans should enjoy this offering, as it definitely sees her take a more mature angle on topics. All the while, she is bringing some interesting production choices with the help of frequent collaborator Mike WiLL.

Sexy Red Announces Release Date For New EP

If you thought that Sexyy Red slowed down after a massive 2024… well, don’t hang up the “Make America Sexyy Again” caps just yet, because you made a huge mistake. Moreover, she just announced a few days ago that her new EP, In Sexyy We Trust, is releasing this Memorial Day Weekend on Friday (May 24) via Open Shift and Gamma. It comes amid a lot of big features, performances, viral moments, and other moves from the St. Louis star, including the recent Chief Keef collaboration “Grape Trees.” We shouldn’t be too surprised that she continues to strike while the iron is hot, but the work ethic never fails to impress.

Furthermore, fans are wondering just what form this new EP will take: something like Hood Hottest Princess‘ first iteration, a mere handful of tracks, or something in between? Either way, Sexyy Red should have at least one or two bangers on here that will hit it big, or perhaps this will compile some recent singles and collabs like “Get It Sexyy.” Maybe we will get a little more information about In Sexyy We Trust as the week leads up to the Memorial Day Weekend release. But there’s nothing like a great first listen with as little spoilers as possible, so here’s hoping that this new EP has some welcome surprises.

Sexyy Red’s In Sexyy We Trust Dropping 5/24

On the other hand, we’re sure that Sexyy Red knows her strengths far too well, and will likely aim to make this EP the best experience possible for hardcore fans. But even the most ardent of “SkeeYee” fans can’t predict every move, such as an old high school fight video that went viral recently. She even responded to this years-old clip of her brawl with a simple “Been on Det!!!” So now you know not to mess with the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, with an upcoming music video with 42 Dugg on the cards as well, Sexyy Red will probably have another killer year in 2024. She’s already making great progress in that regard, so here’s hoping that In Sexyy We Trust is another treat. Whether it’s a change of pace or more of what we love, it’s a simple but effective way to follow up last year’s LP. Hopefully more artists would do the same, but we digress…

Kamaiyah Is In A Never-Ending Battle Of “Figuring Out Her Emotions” On Her Latest EP

After a hectic last couple of years (in a good way), Kamaiyah is keeping the wheels turning in 2024. The prolific Oakland rapper recently wrapped up the Another Summer Night Tour. It was a 20-city trek that revolved around her most recent album of the same name. It was one of two albums in 2023, with THE AM3RICAN DREAM being the other offering. That time around, she linked with Jay Worthy and producer extraordinaire, Harry Fraud. Even though last year was jam-packed, Kamaiyah is making sure to keep chugging along, and she did so by announcing Figuring Out My Emotions just a few days ago.

Part of the reason for this constant influx of projects is so the 2017 XXL Freshman can stay with the times. With the younger generations wanting new things more often, she is making sure she does not get left behind. According to Uproxx, Kamaiyah spoke with KOED about this very trend in modern music. “I don’t want to ever get complacent… because the way the industry is thriving right now is volume. It’s not the ’90s or early 2000s, like, nobody is catching a hit that lasts for a f***ing year anymore,” she expressed.

“People’s attention spans are so short. If you got the attention, keep it. And only way you keep it is more s*** in their face. It’s got to be organic.” She is also delivering on the latter, as this eight-track EP sees the effervescent femcee be more vulnerable and lowkey. Across the tracklist, Kamaiyah discusses the various times at which she has confronted her emotions. Whether it be self-care, romantic interests, or everything in between, she is presenting herself as an open book.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP Figuring Out My Emotions by Kamaiyah? Which songs are you gravitating toward the most right now? Coi Leray Announces New Mike WiLL Made-It Produced EP “Lemon Cars”

Coi Leray has been busy recently. It’s been less than a year since she released her second studio album Coi. The project came on the back of the smash hit “Players” but that wasn’t able to carry it to a strong sales debut. Coi faced quite a bit of mockery online from fans taking aim at the album’s low sales totals and negative reviews. That’s probably why she moved on from the record so quickly, dropping the 5-track Blue Moon EP just a few months later.

Now she’s returning to the short format with a new project called Lemon Cars. She took to Instagram to announce the new collection of songs and share some details on what it is and when fans can hear it. The EP is being helmed by Mike WiLL Made-It on production and it won’t be long before fans can hear the project in full. The release date is in just two weeks, with the project dropping on May 24. The album cover unsurprisingly features Coi posing in front of a fittingly yellow car. Check out the full announcement post she shared below.

Coi Leray’s New EP Arrives Later This Month

Likely because of all the hate she gets online, Coi has comments limited on her new post. But even that didn’t prevent a few followers from sneaking in jokes on the post. “I’m not gone listen but I still love you” one of the top comments on the post jokes. Earlier this year, Coi teamed up with Mike WiLL Made-It for a new song called “Wanna Come Thru.” While she hasn’t officially shared the tracklist for her upcoming EP fans are expecting to see the song make the cut.

What do you think of Coi Leray announcing a second new EP less than a year after dropping her last studio album? Are you looking forward to the release of Lemon Cars later this month? Let us know in the comment section below.

Rome Streetz Wants You To Get The Memo On “Ya Understand”

If you are looking to add some new hardcore hip-hop tracks into your daily rotation, look no further than the new Rome Streetz tape. The London-bred and New York City-raised lyrical mastermind dropped by a new short project with the help of a talented friend. Producer Wavy Da Ghawd, who hails from the neighboring city of Brooklyn, laid down some fire beats for his wingman to body. Another track from Buck 50 that we have been gravitating toward has been “Ya Understand.”

The consistent rapper lives up to that title on this track, as Streetz sticks to the themes of brags and violence that are all over the six-song EP. “I’m him ya understand? / All them bums in last place, so get behind them, ya understand? / Do the knowledge first, get some wisdom, than ya understand,” Rome raps on the short chorus. It’s bluntness, on top of the fact that it is only performed once, is why this track is so great.

Listen To “Ya Understand” By Rome Streetz & Wavy Da Ghawd

It really embodies the idea of getting his message across and not repeating it a bunch. Rome’s supreme confidence does not need to be overstated, hence the short run time of the song and also his cadence. When you are rapping bars like these, you better be rapping with utmost purpose, and he does that. “The grand champ stomping on the skull of these amateurs / You ants to us anything that got my stamp is cancerous / I crush every member of your clan in my hand of dust with no rush.” Talk about a mic drop.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Ya Understand” by Rome Streetz and Wavy Da Ghawd? Where does this track rank amongst the rest of the records on the project? Rome Streetz Is Strictly Business On “Runnin It Up”

Rome Streetz has always been an impressive performer and lyricist over his eight-year career. That has especially been the case for the multi-cultural veteran over the last year or so. From features, to singles, and now three projects, he has really been showing out and displaying why he is a respected face in the underground. On his newest outing Buck 50, Rome Streetz put on some dynamic performances, including on the track “Runnin It Up.”

This song and project were released over this past weekend. It was a collaborative effort with producer Wavy Da Ghawd that spanned six tracks at a scant 13:14 run time. Across it, Rome is definitely prioritizing all killer and no filler and “Runnin It Up” is a prime example of that. On this cut, the London-born MC is boasting and being at the top of the game.

Running it up, you just running your mouth (Stupid) / Only thing to talk about is the money amount (Money) / That’s really it, I been had the whole world in my fist (Uh-huh).” Rome’s presence also makes his bold claims believable, and that is always an important thing to consider when listening a song like this. On top of just being a lean, mean, rapping machine, Rome also works in some unintentionally funny bars. “The Wonder Woman trying to come and f*** (Yah),” is the one that really got us. All in all, he is rapping his a** off and we recommend you check this out immediately.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “” by 4batz? Where does this track rank amongst the rest of the records on the project? Has he won you over with u made me a st4r, why or why not? Quotable Lyrics:

Plenty peers here in this rap sphere, but they all suck (These n****s trash!)

The Wonder Woman trying to come and f*** (Yah)

Valee & Black Noi$e Create Weird & Wonderful Energy On “Partridge” EP

Valee, veteran underground rapper hailing from Chicago, Illinois, has been ramping up production lately. His unconventional and otherworldly style was heard a bunch last year on three separate occasions in fact. The “Womp Womp” artist loves to collaborate with others and that was the case on Virtuoso, VALEEDATION, as well as CAR TOONS. Harry Fraud, MVW, Top$ide, and Trap-A-Holics were all seen alongside him, really showcasing his artistic range. Now, Valee is hopping in the booth with Nova Scotia-born and Detroit-raised producer Black Noi$e for Partridge. It is a new EP that spans just under 16 minutes and has five tracks.

If any Earl Sweatshirt fans are reading this, then you know the name Black Noi$e. He is one of the rapper’s most frequent beat crafters, but he has also worked with similar talents like Zelooperz. Even though Earl is nowhere to be found on Partridge, the connection is still there. According to Stereogum, Sweatshirt had a hand in creating the artwork for the EP with Black Noi$e, so that is a cool thing to see.

Listen To Partridge By Black Noi$e & Valee

In terms of the project itself, this is truly a unique listening experience. That barely scratches the surface of what Partridge is all about, but trust us on this one. The tone is dark and sometimes a little goofy due to Valee’s occasional gut-busting bars. Overall though, Partridge is a fun listening experience, especially for fans of more left field material.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP Partridge by Black Noi$e and Valee? Do you need more collaborative records from them in the future, why or why not? Which track is the best out the bunch? Who was more consistent across the project? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Evilgiane & Slimesito’s Chemistry Is Through The Roof On “EVILSLIME”

East coast hip-hop is extremely good hands right now and will be even later on all because of artists like evilgiane and Slimesito. The New York producer and Maryland rapper might not be on the same label, but the synergy on tracks is among some of the best in the industry. Both also do not have the most experience, but they are well beyond their years. SURF GANG and Rich Slime Global have come together for several tracks, with “DESIGNER DRUGZ” being the most recent offering. That track turned out to be the lead single for EVILSLIME, the new collaborative EP between evilgiane and Slimesito.

For “The Hillbillies” producer, this is his sixth project and second of 2024. It follows up #HEAVENSAGATE VOL. 1 which had a feature from Slimesito on “LIL WAYNE.” As for the “Mafia Business” MC, this marks his first project of the year so far. It supersedes October 2023’s Zombieland which featured 16 tracks.

Listen To EVILSLIME By Evilgiane & Slimesito

On EVILSLIME the production is very trap centric, 808 heavy, and some unconventional instrumentals pop in throughout the 11-song set. The tone is dark and it is the perfect backdrop for Slimesito’s monotone and mumbly delivery. In some way, it has a similar vibe to Metro Boomin and 21 Savage’s 2016 tape Savage Mode. Fairly simple eerie atmospheres with straightforward bars about the typical trap fare. Fans of these two should enjoy this one all the way through, as there are no true skips in our opinion.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP EVILSLIME by evilgiane and Slimesito? Do you need more collaborative records from them in the future, why or why not? Which track is the best out the bunch? Which instrumental was the strongest? Who had the best feature?
