French Montana Fails To Crack Top 10 As Alleged Vinyl Scam Gets Exposed Online

French Montana is someone who has been around in the music industry for a long time. Overall, he has built up a ton of relationships. Consequently, he usually able to get some big names on his albums. Although the perception of him online has been negative, he still has a lot of fans. Moreover, his peers have a lot of respect for him, which tends to go a long way. Unfortunately, French is receiving quite a bit of scrutiny right now stemming from his latest release, Mac & Cheese 5.

Firstly, French was called out for creating numerous versions of his album. These versions contained acapella, instrumentals, and even sped-up variations of his songs. Moreover, there was a “Versions” version that contained 126 songs. Fans found it to be utterly absurd, and he was dragged on social media. Furthermore, according to HipHopDX, Twitter user Dro accused French of running a vinyl records scam. As the vinyl collector explained, French was running a promotion for $5 vinyls and they needed to be shipped by a certain date to count as sales. However, many buyers never received their packages, and those packages ended up in different states, and didn’t even look like parcels that could have held a vinyl.

Originally, French Montana was on track for 56K units sold in the first week. However, as Chart Data reports, French has now sold 34K and will be outside of the Billboard Top 10. He ended up in 14th place, and there are rumblings that the 20K dip in sales was the result of his vinyls being disqualified. As it stands, Billboard has yet to offers any remarks on the situation.

MIKE & Tony Seltzer Recruit Earl Sweatshirt & Tony Shhnow For Wavy “On God”

MIKE is one of the more eccentric and ever-changing artists in modern day hip-hop. He can go super lyrical and abstract on something like Faith Is A Rock or Burning Desire. Or he can be looser and dip into more contemporary sounds on Pinball. The latter is his latest offering following a very impressive and diverse 2023 in which those more experimentative projects dropped. One track to make a note of is MIKE’s “On God.”

Pinball is a collaboration tape that sees MIKE working with Tony Seltzer. He is also a native New Yorker like his rap counterpart, hailing from Brooklyn. The tape just dropped today, but leading up to it, there were a couple of singles released beforehand. Those included “R&B” and “Underground Kingz.”

Listen To “On God” By MIKE, Tony Seltzer, Earl Sweatshirt, & Tony Shhnow

“On God” is one of three tracks to boast a feature. In this case MIKE and Seltzer are teaming up with two other “underground kingz,” Earl Sweatshirt and Tony Shhnow. It is a bit of a weird mix, but they all work together very well. Every rapper on the track gives a subdued performance which complements Tony S.’s woozy and wavy trap-like beat. You will be floating on a cloud after listening to this one.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “On God,” by MIKE, Tony Seltzer, Earl Sweatshirt, and Tony Shhnow? Is this one of his strongest tracks on Pinball, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Who had the best performance on the track? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. ScHoolboy Q Reacts To Anthony Fantano’s Review Of His New Album

Earlier this month, ScHoolboy Q released his new album Blue Lips. The project was his first since 2019’s CrasH Talk and kicked off what’s expected to be a major year for his label Top Dawg Entertainment. The album has an impressive roster of features including Rico Nasty, Devin Malik, Lance Skiiiwalker, Az Chike, Freddie Gibbs, Ab-Soul, Jozzy, and Childish Major all appear on the album. The album has received pretty strong reviews from fans and even a few key endorsements from critics.

One of those critics is the self-proclaimed internet’s busiest music nerd, Anthony Fantano. He posted a review of the record to his YouTube channel where he delivered mostly positive feedback for the album. He shouted out songs like “Blueslides” and “Pop” as being among his favorites on the record and gave the entire album a 7 out of 10. But after someone on Twitter brought the review to ScHoolboy Q’s attention, he had some thoughts. “I don’t tHink anytHings perfect but 9/10 would’ve been correct” he said in a tweet response. Check out his post and various fan reactions to it below.

ScHoolboy Q Thinks “Blue Lips” Is A 9/10

That wasn’t the only commentary ScHoolboy Q shared recently on his own discography. He took to Twitter earlier this week to share his own definitive ranking of his discography. Even that left some fans pretty shocked, specifically when he called his most acclaimed album Oxymoron his 4th best full-length work. Unsurprisingly, Blue Lips topped the list just ahead of his 2016 album Blank Face LP.

Additionally, he revealed that he spent the entire 5 years between Blue Lips and CrasH Talk working on a follow-up. He revealed to fans that the album went through a years-long process before finally arriving at the finished product. What do you think of Anthony Fantano’s rating of Blue Lips? Do you agree with ScHoolboy Q that the album should be a 9/10? Let us know in the comment section below.

ScHoolboy Q Is Feeling Himself On “THank God 4 Me”

One of the themes that seems to be very prevalent in ScHoolboy Q’s new album BLUE LIPS is celebration and growth. It makes sense for the California MC to be talking about this so much too. As most fans of hip-hop know, it had been five years almost since CrasH Talk. With all of that time in between albums, a person is most likely going to see a lot of change in their lives and with their approach to music as a whole.

ScHoolboy kind of spelled out for us what BLUE LIPS really means and the feelings he wanted to convey to the audience. He did so in the rollout over the past month giving us the definition of the phrase. One of the handful of descriptions included being “speechless, especially as the temporary result of shock or strong emotion.” It is safe to say that Q is left with “blue lips” with how far he has come as of late, and throughout his incredible career.

Listen To “THank God 4 Me” By ScHoolboy Q

One of the tracks he expresses these feelings on is “THank god 4 me.” This song is fantastic for a few reasons. One of which is the incredible, yet sudden beat switch. It goes from low-key and minimal, to head and trunk-knocking instantaneously. The lyrics in the second half fit the hype nature of the production with loads of brags. “Big watch, n****, it’s glossy / Quick flex, gotta get off me (Yeah) / Get back, n****, you awful.” It is not the most elaborate writing from Q, but its simple nature gets his point across effectively, making for a exciting listen through and through.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “THank god 4 me,” by ScHoolboy Q? Is this the best track from BLUE LIPS, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? SiR Unveils The Tracklist And Impressive Features For His New Album

Earlier this year, Top Dawg Entertainment promised big things from their artists. They revealed that nearly every single artist on the label and even some new ones would be releasing new projects this year. That busy schedule is already underway with the release of ScHoolboy Q’s new album Blue Lips earlier this month. SZA also set-up the highly-anticipated release of her SOS deluxe version LANA with the single “Saturn” last month.

Next up on the docket is SiR, who’s 4th album and 3rd on Top Dawg is dropping later this month. The album is called Heavy and it drops on March 22. In anticipation of the record’s arrival, he’s shared the full tracklist including the impressive array of features appearing on the record. The album is 16 tracks long, five of which contain appearances from features. Ty Dolla $ign, Isaiah Rashad, Anderson .Paak, Ab-Soul, and Scribz Riley will all be lending their talents to the project. Check out the full tracklist from Heavy below.

SiR Shares “Heavy” Tracklist

SiR has already teased the new album with a pair of singles. The first was “No Evil” one of his most soulful songs to date which dropped back in December. Subsequently, for the second single he shared his collaboration with Isaiah Rashad. The two crossed paths on the song “Karma” where they dug into how their issues could have spawned from their own actions in the past. Both singles were pretty well received by fans, building up quite a bit of hype for the new album.

Heavy is the first new SiR album in 5 years. His third album Chasing Summer dropped back in 2019. It was his first to crack the Billboard 200 where it landed at number 64 in its first week. What do you think of the tracklist for SiR’s upcoming new album Heavy? Are you looking forward to listening to the album when it drops? Let us know in the comment section below.

ScHoolboy Q & Rico Nasty Go Ballistic On “Pop”

One of the trademark formulas that ScHoolboy Q has pretty much perfected up until this point is delivery gritty bangers. Just listen to tracks like “Gangsta” and “The Purge,” for example and you will see what we mean. BLUE LIPS has some variations of that style as well across the record. “Pop,” with its heavy percussion and nasty guitar riffs, are perfect complements to ScHoolboy Q and Rico Nasty’s aggressive lyrics and cadence.

When it comes to a majority of rap albums, you are almost always looking for a strong opener to reel you in. In essence, it sets up the rest of the listening experience. “Pop” passes with flying colors in that department, as Q and Rico have great chemistry on this cut. It in its simplest form, this song is all about violence and sending warning shots to anyone trying to step up to you.

Listen To “Pop” By ScHoolboy Q & Rico Nasty

While Rico does deliver a zany performance, her verse would have been even better if it was a tad longer. “I ain’t poppin’ my s***, I keep a spear / I’m fresh as a mint, I’m hard as cement / You can’t leave a dent, demolish him, finish him.” It has so much potential based on these opening lines, but for the amount of time she had, she did make the most of it. ScHoolboy Q recently ranked this as his best album in a series of tweets, and we might have to agree with him, even if it is too early to say.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Pop,” by ScHoolboy Q and Rico Nasty? Is this the best track from BLUE LIPS, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Erika De Casier Drops A Whole Vibe With “Still”

Multi-cultural R&B singer Erika de Casier is an extremely underrated artist in the R&B space. She has a serene and entrancing voice that can fit over pretty much any instrumental you throw her way. Born in Portugal to a Belgian mother, the soon-to-be 25-year-old artist is back with a new project that sees her attack that very challenge. Still is Erika de Casier’s first record since 2021’s Sensational.

She got this project out in late February, but we still wanted to give it a listen. We are sure glad we did, as there are plenty of fun and beautiful songs that add so much diversity to the tracklist. Speaking of which, there are 14 cuts to be heard on this one, making it her longest to date. Features include They Hate Change, Shygirl, and Blood Orange.

Listen To Still By Erika De Casier

As we mentioned, Erika is sensually singing on top of a wide range of instrumentals, many of which she had a hand in. Only herself, Natal Zaks, and Nick Leon are the producers on Still. That title may be a bit of an oxymoron, as Erika does not remain stuck with one type of production style. We highly encourage you check this one out ASAP.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, Still, by Erika de Casier? Is this her best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Who had the strongest feature performance and why? Is she the most underrated R&B artist going right now? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. ScHoolboy Q Gets First Week Sales Projections For New Album “BLUE LIPS”

ScHoolboy Q may have just crafted a gem of the 2020s with his new album BLUE LIPS, his first in five years. Moreover, fans have been very receptive to the comeback, singing the tracklist’s praises and breaking down all the intricacies within. Although this is still a very big release, it also feels like it really cements the TDE MC’s legend status rather than forge a new claim to the throne. Despite that, it seems like he will still make a big commercial impact and set up many more great albums to come. Furthermore, the first week sales projections for the LP are here via a HITSDailyDouble report.

According to this report, BLUE LIPS is expected to push between 30K and 35K album-equivalent units in its first week, based on day one streams and sales. While this might not seem like all that impressive compared to other big releases, it’s great to see that ScHoolboy Q can make a significant splash after so long out of the game. Of course, the cultural, critical, and fanbase impact was going to be there regardless, and it’s much more important than what any numbers suggest. Overall, the “Foux” spitter should be very proud of what he offered here, and of the success it’s bound to have.

(Jason Armond / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)

Not only that, but projections indicate BLUE LIPS will be the highest-charting album to debut this week on the Billboard 200 albums chart. It will be interesting to see if ScHoolboy Q can top other charting 2024 releases as of late in the rap world, namely Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES 1 and Yeat’s 2093. As for this week, it seems like Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time will nab another non-consecutive week as the highest-charting album in the U.S. You probably still haven’t forgotten the absolutely dominant run that this country record went on in 2023, and it looks like it won’t slow down just yet.

Meanwhile, if you’re curious, you can check out fans’ reactions to BLUE LIPS and see if you agree. What did you think of this new album, and how do you feel about these first week sales projections? Whatever the case, let us know down in the comments section below. Also, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on ScHoolboy Q.

KA$HDAMI Takes Listeners To A Brief “Oasis” On New LP

KA$HDAMI is rapper who takes influence from the recent wave of melodic rap that has been prevalent for the last several years. Highly popularized by artists like Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Don Toliver, Juice WRLD, and more, their drawn-out melodies and what make the sound so entrancing. While the Las Vegas, Nevada native draws some inspiration from them to some degree he does put his own spin on it. In the same breath though, he is still looking to fully separate himself from those names as he further develops it. KA$HDAMI is doing that on his latest project oasis.

This is the 20-year-old’s first LP since 2022’s WORLD DAMINATION. That saw him work with midwxst, XLOVCLO, NoCap, and more. According to Genius, the first hint that KA$HDAMI gave that this album was in the works actually was about one year ago exactly. However, it would be quite awhile before the hype around oasis would come back.

Listen To Oasis By KA$HDAMI

Its lead single, “Games,” would not drop until late October. Then, only one more track would be put out before its eventual release in late February. That song would be “Want!” KA$HDAMI brings some internet rap tropes into some of the tracks such as random sound effects like a Semtex grenade getting ready to explode from the Call Of Duty video games. That charm goes a long way to make this tape a little more interesting. One of the things that drags the listening experience down is how short the songs are. Most of them are only a minute and change, unfortunately.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, oasis, by KA$HDAMI? Is this his best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Who had the strongest feature performance and why? Does he deserve more recognition as an artist overall? Ghetts Has Tons Of Inspirational Messages Across “On Purpose, With Purpose”

Ghetts is here to deliver his long-awaited album On Purpose, With Purpose. The project had its rollout begin in the latter half of last year with a slew of singles. “Laps” with Moonchild Sanelly kicked things off on October 20. Then, the UK rapper would go on to release four more tracks over the next five months.

The last and only track we were able to sink our teeth into was “Double Standards” with Sampha. It was a great listen and tracks like this one show the intent behind On Purpose, With Purpose. In an interview with Apple Music, Ghetts shared some of the themes that are woven into the record. “To anyone who feels like they’re being overlooked, don’t have conversations with people about ‘It should be you.’ No, it shouldn’t. Don’t download the virus.”

Ghetts continues passionately, “‘It should be you’ is a virus if you take that upon yourself, you’re going to put out this energy of [being] underrated-now you become that. Your time comes when it’s meant to.” That powerful but honest message is very similar to the title of this LP. Ghetts is conveying to the listener that success happens when you move with a sense of purpose and go about things the right way, you will get your shine.
