Pusha T Reveals He’ll Be Dropping A New Solo Album Or Clipse Project This Year

For nearly two decades now, Pusha T has popped up every few years with a hard-hitting new record with incredible consistency. In the early days that was as part of rap duo Clipse, who he formed alongside his brother No Malice. Since then he split off as a solo artist where he’s worked pretty extensively with Kanye West across the past decade-plus. His last album was 2022’s It’s Almost Dry. The project featured West as well as Pharrell, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Nigo, Labrinth, Clipse, Don Toliver, and Lil Uzi Vert. Fans looking forward to his next drop got some exciting news today.

During an interview with Complex Push made a big promise. He was asked if either a new solo album or a new Clipse album would be dropping this year. He responded with sure words. “I would 100% bet that you’re going to get new music from one of those entities that you just named. It’s going to be a win-win situation,” Push replied. Despite appearing on a number of features since the release of It’s Almost Dry he hasn’t released any new singles of his own. That means an entire project of new material from either Push or Clipse is right around the corner. Check out the interview snippet below.

Pusha T Confirms A New Album For This Year

Last month, Drake got caught up in the biggest rap beef of the year when Kendrick Lamar called him out on “Like That.” That got people wondering whether or not Pusha T would weigh in, as he and Drake once notably beefed with each other resulting in Push’s legendary “Story Of Adidion” track. But according to a few sources, Push has no interest in weighing in this time.

What do you think of Pusha T confirming that he has a new solo album or Clipse album on the way this year? Would you prefer he drop a new solo album or the first new Clipse album in well over a decade? Let us know in the comment section below.

Big Sean Teases New Album During 2024 NFL Draft Show

Big Sean joined Eminem and Smokey Robinson as celebrity musicians who, in one way or another, formed part of the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday night (April 25). Moreover, in his case, he gave fans and patrons a 30-minute set spanning over some of his biggest-ever hits, dedicating a couple to football players and teams while making his love for the Detroit Lions very clear. However, most excitingly for hip-hop fans, the Detroit MC teased that he’s working hard on his next album, which would be the follow-up to 2020’s Detroit 2. Considering how much hardcore fans and non-believers liked not just that album, but also his recent material, then we have a potential smash hit in the cards coming very soon.

Furthermore, this includes the rapper’s most recent single, “Precision,” and something that this performance proved as well. It was great to see him revisit his catalog with some revamped skill and all that he’s learned throughout his extensive and wide-ranging career. Big Sean also remarked on how this was his first hometown show in almost two years. “The fact I went to school right around the corner from here…” he recalled. “I used to record right around the corner at my homie’s studio, and this was all I ever wanted to do, man. So I just gotta say thank you for anybody who’s ever heard a song of mine, sang it at a bar, purchased a song.”

Elsewhere, the 36-year-old spoke on how he almost got a truly legendary hometown crossover to happen, but it just didn’t pan out. “It reminded me of an old Eminem [beat,” Big Sean said in an Essence cover story about a J Dilla instrumental he had while working on Detroit 2. “And when I sent it to Em, he was like, ‘Man, I like the Dilla beat, for sure. I get it.’” Apparently, Marshall Mathers chose to join the posse cut “Friday Night Cypher” instead.

Metro Boomin Confirms His Collab Album With JID Is “Still A Thing”

Metro Boomin is a busy man. He just dropped two collab albums with Future and started a hip-hop civil war against Drake, but the St. Louis producer is already looking forward to what’s next. He made it clear he wanted to work with Eminem on X (formerly Twitter), but the real collaboration that has fans excited is the rumored album between Metro and JID. It’s been a long time since either artist provided an update, but concerns over whether it was scrapped in light of rap beef politics have been put to rest.

Metro was asked if the JID album was “still a thing” on April 25, and he responded in haste. “Very much so,” he tweeted back. The responses were flooded with fans voicing their relief, since JID is a Dreamville signee and Metro’s relationship with J. Cole is, let’s say, complicated at the moment. Cole was a target on the Metro produced single “Like That,” and he even responded with his own diss. The rapper took it back, however, and appeared on the Metro produced album cut “Red Leather.” All good, right? Well, not quite. Metro ALSO co-produced the “Like That” remix, which contained more bars aimed at Cole’s head.

Metro Boomin Is Still Working Closely With JID

JID has not discussed the Cole situation, but fans had a good reason to be skeptical of his planned Metro collab. The album between JID and Metro was announced back in March 2023. “Got a lot of new music coming but when me and @JIDsv drop,” the latter wrote next to fire emojis. JID responded to the tweet by hyping up the album further: “I love working with u brudda, it’s an honor.” There haven’t been details with regards to a title or release date, but have taken to calling the album “JIDTRO.” There’s also been a few snippets of the two artists working together, most notably “Just Do It” and “Ashes2Ashes.”

JID is also staying busy. The Atlanta rapper confirmed that he will be releasing a solo album before his Metro collab called Forever & a Day. The title has fans theorizing that it will be a sequel to The Forever Story, which proved to be his critical and commercial breakthrough in 2022. Forever & a Day will have 10-12 songs, but like the Metro collab, a proper release has not been announced.

Regardless of how long it takes JID and Metro to cook up a finished product, it’s safe to assume they will deliver the goods.

Metro Boomin Wants To Collab With Eminem Amidst Drake Feud

Eminem is back. The Detroit legend announced that he’ll be releasing his anticipated comeback album, The Death of Slim Shady, this summer. He couldn’t have picked a better time to do so, given that hip-hop has experienced a commercial resurgence in 2024. Part of the reason for this resurgence is the feud between Drake and seemingly every other popular artist in the genre. Metro Boomin is one of the artists who started this feud, and he recently announced that he’d love to collaborate with Slim Shady.

Metro took to X (formerly Twitter) after Eminem released the teaser for his new album. The producer didn’t mince words. “Somebody please tell Eminem I’m tryna lock in,” he wrote next to three lock emojis. Metro has been one of the prolific artists in the genre for a decade, so it makes sense that he’d want to experiment. Metro has praised the Detroit rapper multiple times in the past. He hyped up Shady’s 2011 BET cypher on X (back when it just Twitter). He also workshopped a “dream” album with Em in mind during a thread in January.

Metro Boomin Wants To “Lock In” With Slim Shady

Metro Boomin said he wanted to create an album featuring all the rap stars of the early 2000s. A user asked who he want to work with most, and he named Eminem as one of his top picks. Those who have followed Metro’s career should not be taken aback by his fandom. While his beats sounds worlds apart from Eminem’s, the producer loves Em and Dr. Dre’s work on 2001. He told GQ that they the album was the inspiration for his own Heroes & Villains release. “You can still make great songs with [artists], but as a producer, it’s like, what are you bringing,” he noted. “You’ve got to bring new artists. That’s a big part of your duty.”

Metro Boomin may be in luck. Eminem has broadened his musical palette in recent years, as evidenced by Kamikaze. The 2018 album saw the veteran emcee switch up his usual beat makers for contemporary producers like Tay Keith, Ronny J and Mike Will Made It. It was eventually certified platinum, so the tweak worked. Eminem hasn’t divulged how far along he is on his upcoming album, but most hip-hop fans would at least be curious to hear what he sounds like over a bombastic Metro instrumental.

PARTYNEXTDOOR Strikes Again With Moody Sequel Album “P4”

PARTYNEXTDOOR has quietly put together a stellar career. He’s been in the game for over a decade now, and he helped to solidify the “Toronto Sound” of the 2010s along with Drake and the rest of OVO. He experimented with different sounds on his last album, PARTYMOBILE (2020), but his new offering, PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (or simply P4), serves as a return to form. It’s fourth installment in his self-titled series, and it’s a slick reminder that few artists are making better R&B music at the moment.

PARTYNEXTDOOR dropped four tracks ahead of the album’s release, and they all slide nicely into the tracklist. “Lose My Mind” and “Resentment” are standard PND fodder, solid if not spectacular. “Her Old Friends” changes things up with an acoustic guitar and a driving drum beat, while “Real Woman” remains a standout thanks to its slow jam tempo and sultry vocal sample. Thankfully, the bulk of the album falls in this slow jam sweet spot. P4 is at its best when it settles in and lets its singer ruminate about women who have wronged him (and vice versa). “Stuck In My Ways” is one of the moodiest songs PARTYNEXTDOOR has ever dropped. The chopped and screwed piano sample is hypnotic, especially when paired with the mournful vocals.

PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 Is Best When It Gets Moody

“Cheers” and “Make It to the Morning” provide mid-tempo reprieves from the album’s darker moments. The latter provides a glimpse of daylight in an otherwise nocturnal listen, and benefits from being right in the middle of the tracklist. There are a few missteps, like the plodding “No Chill,” which feels like its twice length. There’s also “Sorry, But I’m Outside,” which suffers from cloying breakup lyrics out of step with the PND playbook. P4 does rebound on the back end, though, with the glitchy track “Family” and the aforementioned “Resentment.” Overall, it’s a worthy addition to the PARTYNEXTDOOR series.

What are your thoughts on this new album, PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (P4), by PARTYNEXTDOOR? Does PND still have the magic touch after four years off? Where does it rank in his self-titled album series? Which of the deep cuts was your favorite? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news on PARTYNEXTDOOR. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

Eminem Announces New Album “The Death Of Slim Shady” For 2024

Eminem has been awfully quiet in the 2020s. The rapper who dominated pop culture in the 2000s and the pop charts in the 2010s hasn’t dropped an album in four years. The wait for new music is finally over, though. Eminem made a seemingly random appearance at the start of the NFL Draft on April 25, but the pieces fell into play when Em uploaded a video teaser to YouTube. It seems like the appearance was a way to drum up excitement for the rapper’s upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady.

Eminem modeled the teaser after crime shows like Unsolved Mysteries. A man in a trenchcoat details the enemies that “Slim Shady” has made over the years due to his “tongue-twisting rhymes.” 50 Cent, Em’s longtime collaborator, then appears to voice his concern for the rapper’s alter ego. “He’s not a friend,” 50 says fearfully. “He’s a psychopath.” The teaser incorporates clips from classic Eminem videos like “Without Me” and “The Real Slim Shady.” The premise of the new album really comes focus, however, when the narrator reveals that Shady was killed. “The same rude and controversial lyrics may have ultimately led to [Shady’s] demise,” he theorizes.

Eminem’s 12th Album Will Come Out Summer 2024

The teaser confirms that Eminem’s new album, The Death of Slim Shady, will be released in summer 2024. The best part of the announcement comes at the very end, though when a pixelated Eminem moves to the side and accidentally reveals his true identity. The album boasts the subtitle “Coup de Grace,” which means “a final blow or shot given to kill a wounded person or animal.” Eminem created Slim Shady as a means of voicing his discontent when he was starting out. “When I started rapping as that character,” he told Fact Magazine. “It was a way for me to vent all my frustrations and just blame it on him. If anybody got mad about it, it was him that said it.”

The rapper has periodically returned to his alter ego over the years. He distanced himself from Slim Shady on Recovery (2010) and Revival (2017), but dove into the character’s zany antics on The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2014). Eminem’s recent albums have also tried to reckon with the skeletons of his past, whether it be addiction or family drama, so it makes sense he would close the book on his Slim in dramatic fashion.

Beyonce Surprise Stagecoach Set Seemingly Debunked By TikToker

Over the weekend, some of the biggest country stars in the entire genre will hit the Indio Valley. Just after Coachella wrapped up, yet another Goldenvoice festival called Stagecoach will get underway. The headliners are Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, and even some crossover stars like Elle King, Post Malone, and The Beach Boys will take the stage. But fans were hoping that yet another superstar might be in the mix for a performance at the festival.

Earlier this year, Beyonce released her new album COWBOY CARTER. While the project includes numerous genre experiments it is primarily an exploration of country music. So when the festival promised a secret surprise guest that nobody online knew, many fans started speculating. That caused one TikTok account called @beysus.christ to begin investigating. She went full internet detective digging through various Instagram accounts before uncovering that of a woman called Katie Alexander. Through even more digging she uncovered an old Instagram post where Alexander all but confirmed she’s the secret DJ Backwoods Barbie. Check out the post recapping her full investigation below.

Beyonce May Not Be At Stagecoach After All

Beyonce fans are no joke. They delivered her the highest first week sales of any album so far in 2024 with COWBOY CARTER, though Taylor Swift is about to break it with The Tortured Poets Department. Her fans even streamed and bought the album enough for it to spend a second week on the top spot of the Billboard 200, preventing J. Cole’s mixtape Might Delete Later from debuting at number one. She also scored a number one hit earlier this year when she dropped the album’s lead single “TEXAS HOLD EM.”

What do you think of the lengths one Beyonce fan went to find out if queen Bey was making a surprise performance at Stagecoach over the weekend? Do you plan on attending the festival later this week? Let us know in the comment section below.

ScHoolboy Q Shuts Down Rumors That Top Dawg Prevents Artists From Releasing Albums

Earlier this year, ScHoolboy Q released his new album Blue Lips. It was the first new project he’s released in 5 years dating back to 2019’s CrasH Talk. While that record was met with very mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, Blue Lips has been subject to much more praise. The project sports features from Freddie Gibbs, Rico Nasty, Ab-Soul and more. Fans have praised it for some of its experimental ambitions.

During a recent podcast appearance, Q discussed how many of his label mates take similarly long breaks between projects. SZA and Kendrick Lamar both famously waited until 5 years after their 2017 albums DAMN and CTRL before dropping the follow-ups, Mr. Morale & The Big-Steppers and SOS. In his interview Q spoke on some of the theories fans online have concocted, that Top Dawg is responsible for the infrequent releases of artists signed to his label. Q shuts this down hard explaining that he’d have no incentive to do something like that. In fact, he jokes that Top probably wishes some of his marquee artists released more often. Check out the clip of Q dispelling the rumors below.

ScHoolboy Q Has Top Dawg’s Back

2024 is expected to be a major year for Top Dawg Entertainment as a label. At a show earlier this year they handed out a flyer revealing that nearly ever single artist on the label, and even some new ones who hadn’t been revealed yet, were releasing new projects. Q and SiR have already gotten it started dropping their new records in March. Singles from SZA and Doechii have also left fans hyped for what’s next as the label tries to live up to its promise.

What do you think of ScHoolboy Q shutting down rumors that Top Dawg holds artists back from releasing new material? Do you think all the previously announced TDE artists will actually drop new projects this year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Common Hypes Up New Album With Pete Rock: “It’s In My Top”

Common has classics. The Chicago emcee has managed the rare feat of staying relevant across multiple decades, and part of why he’s been able to do so is his ear. Common picks great producers to work with, and the results usually speak for themselves (with the occasional Universal Mind Control hiccup). This is why his comments regarding his upcoming album are so exciting. Com Sense revealed that he’s been in the studio with none other than Pete Rock, and the stuff they’re cooking up is evidently up there with the best music of their respective careers.

Common divulged this exciting development during a MusiCares panel in Santa Monica on April 22. He appeared alongside fellow Chicago luminary Lupe Fiasco, and was asked to rank his three best albums. Common’s answers were dead on as far as general consensus goes. He chose Be (2005) and Like Water for Chocolate (2000) as the top two, but he paused before picking the last one.

Common Is “Excited” For Fans To Hear It

His rationale was that his upcoming album contains some of his favorite music ever. “Y’all gon’ think I’m just talking,” he prefaced. “But [I want to pick] this new Pete Rock joint. I’ma see y’all when I come back, whenever I’m back, and y’all can tell me if I’m bullsh*ttin’ or not.” Com went on to say that the untitled album has received stellar feedback from the few who have heard it. “It’s in my top,” he asserted. “I’ve had a couple people coming in saying, ‘Yo, this is one of your best albums.’ So I’m excited about it.” Since the new one isn’t out yet, Common relented and picked Resurrection (1994) as his third best album.

Common and Pete Rock haven’t crossed paths as often as one would assume. They collaborated on “Tha Bizness” off De La Soul’s 1996 album, and “Verbal Murder 2” off of Rock’s 1998 release. Their most famous song together, however, is 1994’s “The B*tch In Yoo.” It was a diss record aimed at Ice Cube, and remains one of Com’s most lyrically aggressive showcases. Common and Rock are both at different points in their career, but their track record proves they have great chemistry.

Logic Announces “Ultra 85” Novel To Coincide With His New Album

Logic is a conceptual dude. His second album, The Incredible True Story, was about a group of friends flying around the universe in spaceship. His third album, Everybody, was about a man who died and was subsequently reincarnated in different bodies. The Maryland rapper has kept it simple since he came out of retirement. His latest project, however, has restored some of his ambition. Ultra 85, the upcoming Logic album, will coincide with the release of a novel of the same name.

Logic confirmed the existence of the novel via Instagram on April 24. He not treated fans to what the cover art looked like, but provided some context for the novel (and presumably, the album). “In the year 2115, when the Earth is no longer inhabitable, the remainder of humanity lives in Babel, a giant space station,” he wrote in the caption. “Two pilots, Quentin and Kai, must find the planet Paradise, where only the most promising citizens are allowed to live.” The rapper explained that his main characters will be forced to confront the fact that “Paradise” is not all it’s cracked up to be.

The plot details for Ultra 85 confirms that it will be a sequel to The Incredible True Story and Everybody. It will mark the completion of the titular story, nearly a decade later. Ultra 85 will also be the second time Logic pairs an album up with a companion novel. He released the novel Supermarket in 2017, which came with a titular album in which Logic explored the rock and punk genres. The latter was panned by most critics, but the novel was actually given positive notices.

Ultra 85 is currently available for pre-order on Simon & Schuster. It will be released on September 17. Fans have flocked to the comment section to speculate whether the accompanying album will drop on the same day. Both the Supermarket album and novel dropped on March 26, 2019, so it stands to reason the rapper would trot out a similar rollout for Ultra 85. Logic previously claimed that Ultra 85 would be his last album, but he’s since clarified his statement. He told a Reddit user during a Q&A that he will always make music, but that Ultra 85 will be his last album under the “Logic” moniker. The rapper first teased Ultra 85 back in 2018, though it has gone through several iterations since.

The second single from the album, “44ever,” was released April 19.
