Sauce Walka Enlists Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, BossMan Dlow & More For “Saucefather 2”

Sauce Walka sometimes gets forgotten when it comes to the stars that are from the state of Texas. Thankfully, there are fans and publications out there that show the Houston native his due respect. For example, Complex recently dropped their top 20 best rap verses of the year so far and he made the cut. Slotting in right at the 20th spot was his performance on the cover of Drake’s “8am in Charlotte” called “1 AM in Houston (Freestyle)”. It is an underrated series of bars, as the underground vet speaks passionately about police brutality. While Sauce Walka is not getting that deep on Saucefather 2, he is definitely bringing heaters.

This is the follow-up to his 2017 tape Saucefather, which was an solo project through and through. However, the sequel is full of high-profile features. Sauce Walka is giving fans a mixture of established superstars and up-and-comers. Travis Scott and Lil Yachty lead the way and BossMan Dlow and YTB Fatt round out a solid cast of co-stars. Sauce shows some love to his Southern hip-hop roots across the tape, throwing in some chopped and screwed sections at the end of each track. Check out Saucefather 2 with the streaming links below.

Proof’s Son Reveals He’s Playing An Important Role In Big Sean‘s Upcoming Album

Proof’s son, NASAAN, says that he’s been sleeping at Big Sean’s house while staying in Los Angeles, and in turn, he’s been hard at work on the rapper’s upcoming album. He discussed collaborating on the project with AllHipHop at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday.

“It’s crazy because Sean is somebody, bro, I grew up just idolizing, you know what I’m saying? I copied his flows, I mirrored his style so much to now we’re friends,” he said. “I’ve been sleeping at this house since I’ve been out here [in L.A.] just like [he’s] my dog. So it’s just crazy. Those full-circle moments and almost manifesting it. The universe got a weird way of working. It’s just crazy. Like, dang. The person I was a fan of is now a fan of me.”

From there, he discussed what fans can expect from Sean’s new album. “I play big part in helping just curate and just giving ideas and stuff,” he explained. “Literally, after I leave here I’m probably going to go back to his house and we working on his album. Between us, I’m on it. But yeah, that should be coming out late summer. I’m excited. He’s somebody who, like I said, he sees the superstar in me. He kind of just wants to nurture that.” Check out his full comments with AllHipHop below.

Eminem Announces Release Date For “The Death Of Slim Shady”

Eminem is really putting effort into his current album cycle. The rapper has taken extra care to build up the hype for The Death of Slim Shady. He’s dropped teasers, collaborations with magician David Blaine, and a high concept music video for the single “Houdini.” The question on everybody’s mind, though, was when the album would drop. When would the Death of Slim Shady finally be revealed to the world? Well, Eminem gave fans an answer in predictably dramatic fashion.

The rapper released what appears to be the last of the album teasers on July 1. The video sees a grim scene at a hospital, in which a woman gives birth to an unresponsive baby. The doctors eventually get the baby breathing, but when it wakes up, it has demonic, black eyes. The mother asks what happened, and before anybody can answer, the baby flashes a split tongue and grows devil horns. The entire staff screams “holy sh*t” before running out of the delivery room. Then, the moment fans have been waiting for: a release date. The Death of Slim Shady will come out on July 12.

Eminem Went Full Demonic In His Latest Teaser

It’s a surprisingly quick turnaround, given how slowly Eminem has been releasing details. The rapper has, however, experimented with different rollouts in the past. Relapse had a lengthy promo cycle since it was supposed to be Eminem’s comeback. Recovery was billed as a correction the mixed reviews of Relapse, and Kamikaze was dropped out of nowhere. The Death of Slim Shady is obviously aiming to be a grand sendoff for Eminem’s alter ago, so it makes sense that he would want to make sure all eyes were on him.

Em hasn’t spoken in depth about The Death of Slim Shady, beyond his promos. He did, however, shed some light on his recording process during a January appearance on Shade 45. “I’m working on a little something,” he told Whoo Kid. Eminem also hinted future collaborations with 50 Cent, who appeared in the first promo for The Death of Slim Shady. “I told him whatever the f*ck he needs from me, I’m here,” the rapper explained. “That sh*t’d be crazy, though… 50’s on a roll right now. He’s been on a roll since the tour.” Hopefully we get to hear these two Aftermath stars on wax again.

Headie One Tells The Full Story About His Musical Come-Up On “The Last One”

Headie One is of the United Kingdom’s most reputable rappers for a lot of reasons. Whether it be his bangers, great topical focus, or commanding presence on the mic, he is always offering up something for everyone. Headie One is showcasing all of these qualities on his sophomore album, The Last One. This the Tottenham, London native’s follow-up to his debut LP, EDNA, back in 2020. Additionally, it is the closing chapter in his “One”-titled mixtape series.

The first of them hit streaming in 2018 with The One and the sequel would follow later that year. For Headie One, The Last One is his story about entering the music industry and everything that has followed. He explained it in an interview with The Line of Best Fit, saying, “I’ve made a lot of music that tells a story, but I feel like the stories are all separate and individual from each other. I’ve never told the full story, from start to finish, about how I came into music and how things were up until a certain point. That’s the story the album is telling”.

One track that Headie One cites as extremely important to The Last One‘s themes about this up-and-down journey is “Martin’s Sofa”. Even though it originally dropped back in January of last year, this track still fits seamlessly in this tracklist. It sort of pays homage to his friend Martin who let him crash at his place while he was trying to make it in rap. It is extremely touching and one of many vulnerable hits on this stacked project.

Omar Apollo Gets Even More Eclectic On New Album “God Said No”

Omar Apollo is one of the most talented musicians of his generation. He can write, produce, play the guitar and sing in different languages. He’s also wildly eclectic. Apollo has attempted virtually every style of popular music there is, similar to his idols Prince and Neil Young. His new album, God Said No, is proof that putting Apollo in a specific box is next to impossible. He pushes himself to try out new sounds, and despite not all of them working, the artist’s virtuosity still makes them compelling.

Let’s start with what doesn’t work, because it’s a shorter topic. “Less of You” still reeks of pastiche as Omar Apollo does his best Depeche Mode impression. It lacks the sonic punch the artist usually brings to his hooks, and suffers as a result. “Pedro,” towards the end of the album, is a spoken word piece that will not be getting a ton of spins after the first listen. It also feels like a lesser take on “Facebook Story” from Frank Ocean’s Blonde. The good news is that everything else is excellent. “Done with You” is a gorgeous ballad with a bossa nova rhythm and old-school horns. “Life’s Unfair” is a funky medication on romance gone wrong. “Dispose of Me” is another Omar Apollo torch song in the mold of “Evergreen,” proving that he does them better than most. God Said No is a subtler album than Ivory, but it’s well worth your time.

Marsha Ambrosius Enlists Dr Dre For Lush New Album “Casablanco”

Marsha Ambrosius can belt. She generates raw power on a song, and has been able to do for her entire career. The songs and the production haven’t already been up to par, but Ambrosius’ voice demands to be paid attention to. This inconsistency is what makes her new album, Casablanco, such a revelation. The album boasts Dr Dre production that’s lush, incredibly catchy, and crucially, worthy of its singer. Casablanco is only 11 tracks in length, but it’s about as satisfying as a classic R&B can be.

The opening track, “Smoke,” establishes the winning formula of the album. Dr Dre provides a backdrop that’s both sultry and hard-hitting. It’s tailored to Marsha Ambrosius’ sensitivity as a performer, but it has a hip-hop edge that keeps things engaging. The same can be said for standouts “Greedy” and “Thrill Her.” The latter interpolates Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal,” and spruces it up with arguably the best beat on the album. Saxophone pops in and out, while the hard-hitting drums anchor a sample of Duke Ellington’s “In a Sentimental Mood.” Ambrosius, charismatic as ever, still manages to keep the spotlight focused firmly on her. The Dr Dre formula falters somewhat towards the end of Casablanco. The flamenco guitar on “Best I Could Find” is a bit overdone, but overall, this is one of the best R&B albums of the year.

The Alchemist Predicts That Kendrick Lamar Will Drop An Album In 2024

The Alchemist is immortalized in rap battle history. He provided the beat for Kendrick Lamar’s “Meet the Grahams,” one of the most chilling disses ever recorded. He didn’t realize it would be a diss when he first made the beat, but that’s irrelevant now. The Alchemist is team Kendrick Lamar. It’s this association that led TMZ to question the producer about Dot’s upcoming release schedule. The outlet wanted to know if The Alchemist had the inside scoop on a secret album.

The Alchemist started his interaction by showing love to Lamar. He also gave a shout out to the work of a fellow producer, DJ Mustard, on “Not Like Us.” He described the diss as a “big record” worthy of number one single status. Alc then addressed the possibility of Lamar dropping a new album. “I think he’s gonna drop an album this year,” he asserted. The Alchemist made it clear that Lamar won the beef, and doesn’t have to drop, but has a good feeling. “I don’t think he has to,” the producer explained. “I think he will, just cuse he can.” TMZ asked The Alchemist whether he has more beats to give to Dot, and he made it clear that he did. He then pointed at his car and said: “I got some records in this car, I’m about to send them as soon as I get home.”

The Alchemist Plans On Sending Multiple Beats To K. Dot

The Alchemist and Kendrick Lamar have been collaborating since 2017. The former produced “The Heart Part IV” and the song “FEAR” off Lamar’s album DAMN. The two legends also linked up for the song “We Cry Together” off 2022’s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. The Alchemist has always spoken highly of K. Dot and his recording process. He went as far as to say that working on “FEAR” helped him to deal with the passing of his father. “Having a beat on it was one of the only good things that happened during that time that brought me back to life,” the producer wrote on Instagram in 2022. “I remember thanking Dot & telling him that he helped me in more ways than he could imagine.”

The Alchemist is seemingly everywhere these days. In addition to working with Lamar, the producer is hard at work on Eminem’s upcoming album. He didn’t produce Em’s new single, “Houdini,” but he told MTV that he was very much involved in the recording process. “That’s my boss,” he noted. “I deejay for him and I’m not at liberty to speak on much, but you know his caliber and what he does.” The Alchemist even made a cameo appearance in the music video for “Houdini.” We’re excited to see what him and Em cook up together.

Lucky Daye Firmly Sticks The Landing On Ambitious “Algorithm”

“I chose ‘Algorithm’ because I wanted to highlight what R&B was in my own algorithm. Everything I’ve ever heard that sounded like R&B to me, whether it was soul or blues. I wanted to bring it to life in my own way. This album from beginning to end is different versions of what I feel R&B is. It’s everything that makes me. I wanted to become one with the algorithm and with the music”. That is what Lucky Daye had to say to Clash in regard to the creative process behind Algorithm. This is the third studio album from the now mainstay in the modern field of R&B. However, this project does not feel all that contemporary.

It seems like the Louisiana native was going for an old-school aesthetic. If that is true, then he absolutely crushed it in that aspect. Amplifying that are the sick guitar solos, thick drums, and extremely soulful vocals. Overall, Lucky Daye did not leave any stone unturned. That is something he emphasized when crafting Algorithm, as he expressed how meticulous he was, especially this time through. “We are actual musicians, we’re the technical, nerdy, and scientific music makers. I love working with people like that. I understand that some people are here to entertain us, but I like working with real musicians”. We are of the belief that this is Lucky’s strongest outing to date, as even though he takes more risks in all aspects, the results are rewarding for all of the senses.
