Mozzy Releases “Kollect Kall” EP Featuring YFN Lucci, Baby Money, And More

Mozzy keeps it moving, incarcerated or not. On Wednesday (April 4), the rapper dropped the first song on the tracklist of his latest EP. “Free All The Lifers” features Dave-O and Jay P Bangz as producers and sees the Sacramento-born rapper bring his usual intensity. He came out swinging, calling out would-be haters with lines like, “N*ggas on the internet begging to meet the reaper / I got all these screenshots of you begging me for a feature.” It’s a reminder that even when he’s in prison, the 35-year-old is not to be messed with.

Today, Mozzy dropped his appropriately titled new project, Kollect Kall. Though the effort is less than 15 minutes long, the “Real Ones” rapper manages to speak on a wide range of topics from personal relationships to industry woes and more. It is equal parts aggressive and emotional. Every track has its place on the EP, but the final cut, “Turn Your Back,” is a definite standout. The jazz-tinged instrumental swims with reverb-saturated saxophones and vocal samples. Mozzy raps about betrayals by people he thought he could trust. “If we was brothers like we thought, we coulda fixed that,” he says, “Instead of intervening and gettin’ between us, n*gga, sit back.”

Free Mozzy

The Oak Park native might get emotional on the EP, but he also gives plenty of warnings to those who would cross him. On “It’s Over,” he tells us that he’ll never be the one that hesitates to take a shot when he needs to. “I refuse to be the one to freeze wit the blammy, that’s on granny,” Mozzy lyricizes. “They prayin’ the judge do a n*gga scandalous, they can’t stand me.”

Less than a year ago, the rapper released his sixth solo studio album, Survivor’s Guilt. Unfortunately, Mozzy began his prison sentence directly after the project dropped. He was put away on gun charges in connection with a 2021 traffic stop. At the time, his car was searched, and police officers discovered a Glock 26 and 9 rounds of ammunition. Though the recording artist’s defense team argued that it was necessary for protection and requested a probation sentence, the rapper was sentenced to federal prison.

Given Mozzy’s track record of releasing several albums every year, it’s safe to say we likely won’t have to wait long to hear more from the Sacramento native. What do you think of Kollect Kall? Sound off in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop news.

Kollect Kall Tracklist:

  1. FREE ALL THE LIFERS
  2. WE ACTIVE (feat. YFN Lucci)
  3. IT’S OVER
  4. EVERY NIGHT (with Baby Money)
  5. HOLE IN MY HEART (feat. E MOZZY & Celly Ru)
  6. TURN YOUR BACK

Blac Youngsta Comes Through With “Blac Sheep,” His Second Project Of The Year

Blac Youngsta’s been quietly ushering in a new chapter in his career. The rapper, who signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG imprint, hasn’t necessarily had the streets lit with his antics over the past year. Instead, he’s put his pen to work and kept a consistent stream of music. Blac Youngsta lit up 2022 with the release of 4LIFE, a 23-song effort that found him trading bars with Yo Gotti, 42 Dugg, and more. However, he clearly had more heat in the stash that he prepared to drop in ‘23.

Though we’re only four months into the new year, the “I’m Assuming” rapper proved that he’s not wasting a moment. In February, he released his follow-up to 4LIFE with Bank Appointment. The February release didn’t boast many features with the exception of 42 Dugg, Lil Migo, and Trapionn. The project was an excellent depiction of his gritty delivery and sound. An authentic depiction that captured his aggression, humor, and everything else that we’ve grown to love about Blac Youngsta.

Blac Youngsta Returns To The Fold With “Blac Sheep”

Nearly two months after his last release, the Memphis rapper returns with his new project Blac Sheep. The 13-song effort contains no features whatsoever but it’s another unadulterated look into Blac Youngsta’s creativity. Records like “Freaky” and “Alleged” are equally as fun as they are menacing while Youngsta aggressively dives into sexcapades and street politics. Overall, Blac Youngsta is bringing fans exactly what they want on Blac Sheep. Youngsta fully gravitates towards real guttural, heavy production that pull his energy out with each bar. It’s another exceptional release from Youngsta, though we suspect he has more in the chamber before the year closes.

When Youngsta announced the project, he previewed a few bars that capture the essence of his new project. “I’m praying to god he can finally forgive me for my sins, I’m the Blac Sheep of my family,” he wrote. “If you are too then you my twin.” Hopefully, this won’t be the last release from Blac Youngsta this year. Press play on his new project above and sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below.

6lack Gives Wale His Flowers

6lack is one of the most talented artists in modern music. He first hit the music scene in 2016 with his debut album Free 6lack. That project included his breakout single “Prblms.” His second album, East Atlanta Love Letter, peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2018. Originally hailing from Baltimore before moving to Atlanta at a young age, 6lack has managed to carve out quite a career for himself. Now the rapper and singer is paying homage to fellow DMV icon, Wale.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, 6lack discussed several topics, including music, mental health, and self-care. But when the subject came to DC native Wale, 6lack made sure to show the “Bag of Money” artist some love. “Flowers, man. Flowers for him all day long,” he said. 6lack went on to credit Wale and fellow industry veterans, Drake and J Cole, for paving the way for the current crop of talent. “As of right now, the current day, that era is Drake. That era is Kendrick [Lamar], that era is Wale, that era is [J. Cole],” he said.

6lack Credits Wale with Inspiring Newer Artists

Furthermore, the artist credits Wale for being an inspiration while he was still discovering himself as an artist. “during times where I was still figuring out myself and figuring out my music …his words spoke to me.” he said. The pair have worked together before. 6lack appeared on Wale’s 2019 song “Expectations.” The DMV natives collaborate again on 6lack’s third Album Since I have a Lover, which he released late last month. 6lack says pitching the project to Wale was an honor. “It was an honor to be able to reach out to him and just say, ‘I need you for something.’”

Other featured guests on the album include Don Toliver and 6lack’s real-life girlfriend Quin. The 20-track project is by far the most ambitious of 6lack’s career. After taking a nearly five-year break since his last full-length album, some wondered if he still had it. But if the initial reaction from fans is any indication, the multitalented performer is likely here to stay. Moreover, given his talent and personality, it is almost certain that the 30-year-old is inspiring a new wave of young artists the same way Wale inspired him.

Gucci Mane Releases “1017 Up Next EP” As He Looks For New Artists To Sign

Gucci Mane’s looking to expand the 1017 roster even further. Though he built the label up within the past two years, several artists signed to him have been either incarcerated or passed away. Foogiano and Pooh Shiesty remain behind bars while Memphis’ own Big Scarr tragically died from a drug overdose in late 2022. Though many have noticed a pattern among those who ink a deal with Gucci, he isn’t allowing the public narrative to prevent new artists from joining the roster.

This morning, Gucci Mane debuted three new songs as part of the 1017 Up Next EP. “Dropboy Freestyle,” “CEO Flow Freestyle” and “Droptopwop Freestyle” appeared on DSPs this morning, along with an open verse on each song. The rapper invited up-and-coming talent to tackle the records with a 16 and share it on social media platforms with the hashtag #1017UpNext. He explained that he and his team will scour through Instagram so they could find the next big star to sign to the label.

Gucci Mane Seeks New Talent

The release of the three-song pack comes shortly after he joined forces with 21 Savage and DaBaby for “06 Gucci.” Though he’s released a handful of records prior to that, including the Kodak Black-assisted “King Snipe,” the release of 1017 Up Next also prepares Wop for his next studio album. He explained that whoever comes through with the best verse will not only land a deal with his label but will also, a feature on Wop’s new album, which is due out on October 17th, 2023. Hopefully, it won’t be long until they find the next 1017 Millionaire.

Besides Gucci’s professional ventures, 2023 is already turning out to be a great year for the 1017 boss. In February, he and his wife Keyshia Ka’oir welcomed their second child together. Iceland Davis was born on Feb. 8th, 2023, which the couple celebrated on their respective Instagram pages. “Im so thankful that my baby girl is here and she so pretty and healthy 2/8/23 7lbs 2oz ICELAND DAVIS,” Wop wrote on Insta. Given that his son, Ice Davis, served as the executive producer on Ice Daddy, perhaps the same will happen with his newborn daughter.

Wop Calls On All Emerging Artists

Tyler, The Creator Had The Top Selling Vinyl Rap Album In 2022

Tyler, The Creator is one of the most successful artists of his era. Since first hitting the scene in 2011, Tyler’s eclectic style has won him fans the world over. His keen musicianship has also earned him numerous awards and accolades during a more than a decade-long career. However, there is one achievement the California native hadn’t accomplished until recently, a top-selling vinyl album.

Chart Data reports that The Creator’s album Call me If You Get Lost was the top-selling rap vinyl album worldwide in 2022. The news of Tyler’s latest feat shouldn’t exactly be surprising. The album, Tyler’s sixth, was released in June of 2021. The project was a smash hit with fans and critics alike, debuting at number 1 on the Billboard 200. Moreover, the album earned Tyler his second Grammy Award for Best Album after 2020’s Igor.

Tyler, The Creator Reaches a New Milestone

Meanwhile, Tyler’s legions of fans will now have even more to smile about. He recently took to Twitter to announce that he was releasing a new Deluxe album, Estate Sale Deluxe. This new project includes eight tracks that didn’t make the final cut. The 32-year-old explained that the original album was the first project in which a decent number of songs were left out. Tyler explained that the new version of the album will include eight tracks that didn’t make the final cut. “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST WAS THE FIRST ALBUM I MADE WITH ALOT OF SONGS THAT DIDNT MAKE THE FINAL CUT,” he wrote. “SOME OF THOSE SONGS I REALLY LOVE, AND KNEW THEY WOULD NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY, SO IVE DECIDED TO PUT A FEW OF THEM OUT.”

These are busy times for the New Magic Wand rapper. Earlier this week, he released videos for his songs “Hot Wind Blows” and “Heaven to Me.” A third video, “Wharf Talk,” featuring ASAP Rocky, dropped last week. The new videos show growth in style and maturity for a man who has been in the rap game since he was a teenager. Tyler is an artist who you never quite know what he is going to do next. But whatever it is, you can always expect him to bring his usual irreverent style into the project.

Chlöe is an artist who many fans have been anticipating music from. Of course, she is known for her work with her sister Halle. Now, however, both sisters seem to be pursuing their own avenues. Playboi Carti Has Fans Thinking He’s In Album Mode

Playboi Carti is one of the biggest artists in hip-hop right now. Although his latest album Whole Lotta Red was met with pushback at first, it is now seen as a triumph. This album merged punk and metal aesthetics with trap, and it led to an incredible project. Overall, this is now considered to be Carti’s magnum opus. His tours have been insane since dropping the album, and now, he has an actual guitarist at his live shows. His growth as an artist has been fun to watch, although it is clear that the fans want something new.

For months, fans have been waiting on a brand-new project. While Carti has offered up some teasers at times, he has yet to actually release his next album. For many, this has come as very frustrating. After all, Carti is the king of delaying his albums and restarting them due to various leaks. However, there now appears to be some new information in regard to Carti. According to No Jumper and various sources on Twitter, Playboi Carti has been buying up all of the studio time in Manhattan Beach.

Playboi Carti In The Studio

As you can see in the Instagram post above, some people in the area are a bit frustrated. This is because they have been trying to get some studio time themselves. Although, with Carti buying up all of the available rooms, it has been hard to find a viable option. Fans are consequently claiming that Carti is, indeed, in album mode. One would have to assume that is the case based on all of the studio time he has booked. Regardless, Carti has certainly been in the studio quite a bit up to this point and still hasn’t dropped anything.

While it is frustrating, Carti fans will just have to be patient at this point. That is the only thing you can really do in these situations. Artists love to perfect their craft, and Playboi Carti has proven to be a perfectionist of sorts. If he is taking this long to drop, it is probably because he wants the album to be exactly what the fans are hoping for. Let us know your hopes for Carti’s next album, down below.

Moneybagg Yo Says New Album Is Imminent

Moneybagg Yo has promised that his new album is coming very soon. Like many artists, the rapper has taken a break between albums. However, this means that his fans have been clamoring for an update on new material. During an Instagram live video, Moneybagg Yo said that his album is coming soon and that it’s “real close”. Despite these claims, no release date has yet been revealed for his forthcoming album. So far, we know that the album will be titled Hard To Love and will have 22 tracks.

Moneybagg Yo’s previous album, his fourth, was released in 2021. Titled A Gangsta’s Pain, the album garnered fairly favorable reviews. It also peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been certified platinum. Given the state of the industry, being certified platinum is actually a pretty big deal these days. In fact, Moneybagg Yo has plenty of platinum certifications, and has even gone as far as referring to himself as a “certified hitmaker.” So, it’s safe to say that his label will take its time to make sure the release of his forthcoming album is done right.

Album Announcement Met With Negative Reactions

Now, just because someone goes platinum doesn’t mean they are without their fair share of haters. In fact, it likely means they’ll be hated on even more. Take one look at the comment section on the announcement and you will see some absolutely brutal reactions. The top comment reads “i don’t think anybody cares lmao.” Scroll only slightly further down, and you’ll see more of the same type of comments. “Literally no one ever has said ‘man I can’t wait for a Moneybagg yo album’,” one comment says. “Just drop it bro we know ain’t gonna be that good regardless,” remarked another.

That’s not to suggest that Moneybagg Yo doesn’t have supporters. Look at the comments further, and you’ll discover fans that are already calling Hard To Love the “album of the year.” That’s some pretty high praise considering it’s only March, and there are 8 months’ worth of releases left this year for him to contend with. Still, not just anyone can get certified platinum as many times as he has in this day and age, which means Moneybagg Yo must be doing something right.

Dave East Keeps His Head “Above Water” On New Single

Dave East’s recent musical output has been a firm reminder of why he was one of the most compelling artists out of New York City at one point. During his mixtape run, he earned a glowing co-sign from Nas and later signed a deal with Mass Appeal. At a time when Soundcloud rap was the hype, Dave East became the response to those who felt lyricism was a dying art form. And though he wound up pivoting towards TV and film after his debut album, his latest releases have indicated that he only gets better with time.

Over the weekend, the Wu-Tang: The American Saga actor emerged with some brand new heat. Dave East shared his latest single, “Above Water,” this weekend, which pairs his vivid storytelling and suspenseful production to provide motivation for the masses. Across the song, East delves into his delicate balance between rap stardom and the streets that he came up in, while also reflecting on his daughters and their future. Dave East’s honesty in his penmanship remains one of his best attributes in the game and “Above Water” is an exemplary showcase of that.

Dave East Provides Hope On “Above Water”

Dave East has undoubtedly been active over the past few months. However, with the Wu-Tang show officially wrapped up, the rapper could have his next studio album coming soon. Last year, the rapper unloaded two projects – HDIGH and Book Of David – while delivering a slew of guest verses and loose singles, along with East Mixes. Hopefully, Dave East be coming through with a new body of work in the coming months.

Though he hasn’t shed too many details surrounding the project, it seems like we could anticipate a collaboration with J. Cole. During the red carpet for Wu-Tang: The American Saga debut, he explained how Cole put a battery in his back. “I took a lot from that,” Dave East said. “Just his whole energy, you know what I mean? For him to be who he is at the level he’s at and give me that game like that, give me that little bit of advice just to help my own shit out.” Check his new song below.

Quotable Lyrics
They tryna trick us out our spot, can’t let a lane provoke you
Just tryna walk the righteous path, it’s like an angel chose ’em
You can’t control ’em, they can’t fold ’em, this forever rollin’
For all of our homies that ain’t make it, y’all my motivation

DJ Drama Enlists Queen Latifah To Promote New Album

DJ Drama’s hotly anticipated album I’m Really Like That is dropping this Friday (March 31), and the acclaimed producer tapped Queen Latifah to promote its release. Not only that, but their promo was quite creative and paid homage to one of the most important films in hip-hop culture. Moreover, Latifah reprised her role in the 1992 film Juice for a recreation of one of its most iconic scenes. While Drama played the role of Q (originally played by Omar Epps), Jim Jones directed the homage. Also, additional featured actors included fellow Dipset member Juelz Santana, DJ Superstar Jay, and others.

Furthermore, the plot of the scene centered around a group of DJs waiting in line to play their mixes for the Queen so they can play at The Ruffhouse. It seems like the Gangsta Grillz icon wanted to recreate and evoke the feeling of the early hustle in the game, trying to make a name for yourself. Of course, given the incredibly stacked feature list for I’m Really Like That that floated around social media, it’s clear that Drama succeeded in such efforts.

DJ Drama & Queen Latifah Promote His New Album

To elaborate, here are a few of those names: there’s Tyler, The Creator, 42 Dugg, and Nipsey Hussle. In addition, there’s Freddie Gibbs, Lil Uzi Vert, Gucci Mane, Roddy Ricch, and many more. What’s more is that Drama isn’t just looking forward to new projects in the future, but also bringing new ones back into the culture. For example, he recently revealed that Lil Wayne’s classic mixtape Dedication 2 will make a return to streaming services this year. However, that wasn’t all, as he also stated that brand new music from him and Tunechi is due in 2023, too.

Meanwhile, the Philly native has eggs in a lot of promising baskets in addition to his solo outing. Recently, he announced that him and De La Soul are working on a Gangsta Grillz mixtape following the release of their impeccable catalog on streaming services. After so many years of innovation and quality drops, it’s very exciting to see Drama get some flowers and keep shaping the game. If you’ve never seen Juice before, check out the referenced clip below. Otherwise, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Queen Latifah and DJ Drama.
