Nicki Minaj Promises That “Pink Friday 2” Will Unveil One Of Her “Best Kept Secrets”

Nicki Minaj is gearing up to release her first new album in 5 years and hype is through the roof. Much of that comes from Nicki herself who has been constantly tweeting and posting about Pink Friday 2 for months. She’s shared numerous pieces of promotional material, mostly album covers. But she’s also teased potential sonic directions for the album, previewed tracks, and even flirted with dropping an EP before it actually comes out.

Over the weekend she was back on Twitter talking about the album once again. In a new tweet, she discusses an unnamed person who inspired the album. “Last night when all the world was sleeping, I was up…missing you…a painful amount of missing you…listening to the intro track on #PinkFriday2…I wrote it for you,” her post begins. The emotional post ends with yet another tease that has fans on the edge of their seat. “On Dec. 8th…when the clock strikes 12, one of my best kept secrets & proudest moments will be unveiled,” the tweet concludes. While fans have speculated on what she could mean by the tweet, ultimately nobody will know for sure until the album drops. Check out some of the speculation below.

Nicki Minaj’s Latest “Pink Friday 2” Tease

Nicki Minaj’s new album is expected to drop on December 8. Some fans aren’t letting their hopes get too high until the album actually arrives due to Nicki’s history of promising things and failing to deliver. The project has already been delayed, pushed back from its originally announced release date earlier this month. Many other fans think that all the teasing and promotion is a pretty good sign that the album will ultimately come out on time though.

She spoke about some of the motivation for the album during a recent Vogue interview. As a part of the interview, she also participated in a 73 Questions video and even shared an original freestyle. What do you think the best-kept secret Nicki is talking about could be? Let us know in the comment section below.

“Salute to the general @bustarhymes for bringing back that Trill Nostalgia and doing this record!’ Bun B captioned the post. “He’s been talking about it for a minute but the timing couldn’t be better! And he brought in @tpain and @dababy for a trill ass trifecta??!!! What a banger!” Plenty of others joined in on the praise in the comments section, including T-Pain.

Bun B released “Get Throwed” on his 2005 album, Trill. It features Pimp C, Z-Ro, Young Jeezy, and JAY-Z. Bun recently reflected on JAY-Z’s contribution to the song, revealing that he dissed an undisclosed rival. Speaking with Elliott Wilson on the Rap Radar podcast in 2017, he revealed: “If you listen to ‘Get Throwed,’ to JAY’s verse — for some people it’s going to be clearer than others — but there was shots fired in bars 8 to 12, and there were more shots from bars 12 to 16.” He did clarify that Nas wasn’t the target: “Nah nah nah. This was before that … this was more internal.” Check out Bun’s post for Busta Rhymes below.

J. Stone Drops Underdog Anthem “Foundation” With Nipsey Hussle, B.H., And Hit-Boy

J. Stone and Nipsey Hussle have been boys for a little while, especially after being signed by the late rapper’s label, All Money In No Money Out. The music world tragically lost Nip back in 2019 and is great to see his legacy still live on four years later. The latest way to check out the deceased rapper on a new track is on Stone’s newest record, The Definition Of Success. It is the last installment in the Definition series.

They both appear on one of the tracks called “Foundation.” However, they are not the only two guests on the cut. Stone also has recruited superstar producer Hit-Boy as well as B.H. to join him for a bit of an underdog anthem. The beat is really hard-hitting and has a triumphant feel.

Stone also got some other big-time features on this 17-track project. Trae Tha Truth, Dom Kennedy, Dave East, and more land here as well. What is interesting about “Foundation” is the time at which the song was made. HipHopDX pulled a quote from Stone about how it came to be. “[It was] something that we worked on in 2018. We just spiced up the beat just a little bit ’cause it’s 2023 now, so we made it make sense.”

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new song from J. Stone, Nipsey Hussle, and B.H., “Foundation?” Is this the best track from Stone’s latest record, The Definition of Success? Joe Budden Shares Harsh Take On Meek Mill & Rick Ross’ “Too Good To Be True”

Joe Budden says Meek Mill and Rick Ross had nothing interesting to say with their new collaborative album, Too Good To Be True, and labeled it a “money-grab.” He shared his opinion on the project during the latest episode of his podcast.

“Meek and Ross, that was all over the place,” he said. “It’s cool loud. If you turn it all the way up, it’s cool. I love the Wale record on there, I love that record. It’s a few more records on there I love. I love all the records that are three minutes and 40 seconds long. There’s a lot that’s not that long — they’re shorter. When they do that, whatever they’re talking about jumps out on the track to me.”

He continued: “Them n****s ain’t talking about nothing. They ain’t said nothing on that whole project. Not a word, not a thing […] It was a money grab, for sure. I don’t think [there’s] nothing wrong [with that] — they got the money. When I hear Ross and Meek, it’s classic time for me. So this was cool, but my bar for them is high-high.” Budden isn’t the only one with a negative response to the project. 50 Cent recently trolled the two rappers for the album’s low sales. Check out Joe Budden’s full comments on the project below.

Aitch Is Coming Out Guns Blazing On “Lost Files”

The UK rap scene is extremely crowded and Aitch is one of those many talents across the pond. He is from New Moston, Manchester, and has been in the rap game for about six years now. He has four projects to his name, with the first dropping in 2017. One thing about him is that he likes to keep his projects short. That way, he can leave no extra room for filler tracks. It is a great thing to see Aitch stay true to, especially during the streaming age.

It is so common nowadays to see rappers pad out their tracklists to run up their streams as much as possible. The music quality is almost always compromised and is a big reason why some people, even other rappers, are saying hip-hop is in a bad state. But, like we said, Aitch is sticking to his guns. He does so with his fifth project, Lost Files.

This one sits at seven tracks and is nearly 21 minutes in length. There were a handful of singles ahead of Aitch’s release. In fact, nearly half of the final product was pushed out. “Landslide” with Nafe Smallz, “Murdaside (Remix),” and “Heist” featuring PLK, gave us an idea of the topics at hand. Aitch is ruthless and cold-blooded across the majority of the songs here. Other features include Cordae, Potter Payper, and Mazza_I20.

Sada Baby, a rapper hailing from Detroit, Michigan, has made a name for himself by creating high-energy bangers. He does not have a massive fanbase. However, it seems he is more focused on creating what he enjoys and it has still led to a stable career. Baby got his start, at least on streaming, in 2016. The project that really set him up for a career was his 2020 tape, Skuba Sada 2. Two tracks became popular amongst Sada Baby’s fans were “Aktivated” and “Pressin” with the late King Von. In addition, the follow-up, Skuba Sada 2.5 in 2022, also contained another hit, “Whole Lotta Choppas (Remix)” with Nicki Minaj.

Andre 3000’s “New Blue Sun” Needs A “Chopped And Screwed” Version, Paul Wall Claims

Paul Wall has asked for a “chopped and screwed” version of Andre 3000’s new flute album, New Blue Sun. “Does anybody have a screwed and chopped version of Andre 3000 flute album? I need that asap for the slab,” Wall wrote on X, formerly Twitter. As Wall noted in his post, he specifically wanted this version to listen to in his car.

However, Wall isn’t the only person showing love for Andre’s new album. “I am no stranger to the ‘departure album’ […] albums the complete opposite of what the artist is known for. I knew this 3000 jawn was a left turn but I didn’t know it’s the RIGHT left turn. I always said ‘one day imma make the ambient record I’d love to sleep and dream to’ (btw, watching violent shit/sleeping to news/sleeping in stressful environment takes years off your life—-so this is why I invest heavy in stuff like this.). thank you @andre3000 #NewBlueSun,” wrote Questlove.

Andre 3000 Releases Flute Album

The fact that Andre was releasing an instrumental-only flute album came as a surprise to just about everyone. In fact, the first the track on the album is literally called “I swear, I Really Wanted To Make A ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time.” Furthermore, Andre explained why the album is the way it is in a recent interview with NPR. “That’s why New Blue Sun was something that I realized, whoa, I really want people to hear it. I really want to share it. That’s my only gauge. I have to like it as a person, as an artist myself, because if I don’t like it I can’t expect nobody else to like it. I can’t pretend in that way. That’s always been hard for me,” Andre said.

He also said he was taking fans to “another realm”. “Yeah, it took me to other realms, to be completely honest. Like, I’ve been playing flute for years. It got to a point where it’s kind of Instagram-worthy, where people were kind of sneaking and filming me play — in space, in the public. I might be at Starbucks getting a coffee. I might just start playing. And people would just film it and post it. That started to happen a lot. One person actually came up to me on the street and he was like, “Man, it’s a thing, it’s a game almost like we’re trying to find you and trying to film you play a flute.” And that kind of was sucky because it was like a Where’s Waldo? kind of thing,” Andre explained.
