LaMelo Ball Speaks Out Following $100K Fine Over Homophobic Post-Game Comment

Charlotte Hornets superstar LaMelo Ball was fined $100,000 by the NBA this past weekend and for good reason. Following a game, Ball said the term “no homo.” Overall, a simple “pause” probably would have sufficed. However, he ended up taking it way too far. Although there were plenty of fans who were not offended, the league has to protect its image. Consequently, they came through with a well-deserved fine.

Following the fine, Hornets head coach Charles Lee spoke out on what happened. As he explains, LaMelo is very apologetic. “As an organization, that’s obviously not something that we condone. Our standards and what is required of our players in our environment that we create is really important to us,” Lee said. “I spoke to Melo and he’s obviously very apologetic from what I’ve seen since I’ve been around him. He loves everyone and he’s a joy to have around in the facility, and that’s not typically how he operates.”

This is a teachable moment for LaMelo and we hope he learns from it. So far this season, he has been playing incredibly well. You never want to see a young player squander that because of a poor judgment call. Only time will tell whether or not Ball truly changes his ways.

It’s truly a confounding phenomenon. That said, Playboi Carti came out of hiding on October 22. The rapper had seemingly tuned in to the season opener for the Los Angeles Lakers, because he hopped on Instagram with a request. Carti tagged Lakers newcomer Bronny James and requested he be sent some merch.

Playboi Carti posted photos of Bronny James and a group of fans rocking Bronny’s jersey. He then tagged the famous progeny and stated that he wanted a jersey as well. “Send me ah jersey,” he wrote. Carti’s request may seem odd, but there may be a deeper meaning behind his request. Bronny James has stated, on multiple occasions, that he wears number nine as a tribute to the late rapper Juice WRLD. “Juice has just been a big part of me keeping calm in situations that I’ve been through,” James said in his first press conference. “Just paying homage to him, especially because he passed. It’s a really important thing for me.”

Playboi Carti was close with Juice WRLD throughout the latter’s career. They collaborated on multiple songs. Playboi Carti even reflected on Juice’s passing during a resurfaced interview. He dubbed the late rapper to be a G.O.A.T. and teared up when thinking about what could have been. Carti also admitted that he could have spent more time with Juice WRLD while he was alive. “He was really a G.O.A.T.,” he stated. “Even if we wasn’t seen together like that, we was close.” Beyond the Juice WRLD connection, Carti has an interesting history with the NBA and jerseys, in particular.

The rapper rocked a series of NBA jerseys throughout September, and fans began to theorize that they had something to do with the rollout for his upcoming album. The speculation reached such a fever pitch that NBA franchises began to pressure Playboi Carti to drop the album. The Atlanta Falcons, the Brooklyn Nets and the Orlando Magic Instagram pages left comments on Carti’s page whenever he posted photos rocking their jerseys. JJ Redick Is Officially The Lakers Head Coach And NBA Twitter Is Having A Laugh

Over the last few weeks, there have been numerous rumors about JJ Redick becoming the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Overall, he is someone who has become quite close with LeBron James. This has mostly been through their “Mind The Game” podcast where they discuss schemes and strategy. It has become clear that Redick has a great mind for the game, no pun intended. However, some have expressed skepticism over him actually being an NBA coach.

There were numerous conflicting reports about whether or not he would get the gig. Well, today, it was revealed by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that Redick agreed to a four-year contract with the team. The contract was offered this morning, and Redick took it. Now, he will have to leave ESPN and join a Lakers squad that may not retain the services of LeBron James. Needless to say, the NBA Draft is going to be extremely interesting.

Redick has little to not head coaching experience at this level, so it will be interesting to see how the players respond to him. This could be genius, or this could be a disaster.

According to Bleacher Report, Drake’s son drew a picture of the Charlotte Hornets star point guard. LaMelo saw it and he wound up gifting him a pair of his signature PUMA basketball kicks.
