50 Cent Says He’s Working With Nas On ‘King’s Disease IV’

Three is the magic number, but it looks like Nas isn’t keeping his King’s Disease album series to a trilogy. At least, not if you believe 50 Cent, who says he’s working with his fellow Queens native and former G-Unit rival on the next installment of the series. As noted by Okayplayer, 50 told Billboard in his new cover story, that he’s slated to feature on King’s Disease IV, although there’s not that much detail included.

In the 2000s, to say that 50 and Nas didn’t quite get along would be an understatement. Although Nas had helped 50 early in his career, their relationship soured as 50 became more popular. 50 told MTV, “Nas was the first person to do something for nothing for me. He allowed me to go on his promo tour [for Nastradamus in 1999]. He said, ‘The way you came out with that record [‘How to Rob’], it felt like when I came out [with ‘Illmatic’].” Given how much he makes on tour now, he probably appreciates it.

When Nas called out 50 and G-Unit onstage in 2004, deploring their commitment to violent, stereotypical imagery (something Nas had been guilty of himself, although he later refocused on promoting a more positive aesthetic), 50 found a way to get back at him. On his 2005 Ja Rule diss “Piggybank,” 50 mocked Nas for getting a tattoo of Kelis, whom he had just married. “Kelis said her milkshake bring all the boys to the yard
/ Then Nas went and tattooed the bitch on his arm,” he rapped.

This led to a short feud between the two that only produced a handful of diss records before they squashed things at Summer Jam 2014. They haven’t collaborated yet, but fans will undoubtedly be excited to hear them do so on King’s Disease IV whenever it arrives.

50 Cent Confirms Collab With Nas On “King’s Disease 4”

50 Cent wasn’t joking when he said he was going to return to music this year. The Power mogul put more of his effort into television and mentoring up-and-coming rappers recently. However, the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin, and recent RIAA certifications put a battery in his back. He revealed earlier this year that he was going to return to music and deliver some heat.

He explained that he wanted to return to music following his 2022 international tour dates. “I get the attention that I want from music when I want it,” he told Billboard. “I just went out and toured 45 countries, and everywhere was sold out. That made me want to offer new music that I could integrate into everything now,” he added. Fif will also be hitting the road later this year for his first tour in 13 years. It’s going to be a busy year for Fif between the numerous television projects and an anticipated album.

50 Cent On Collabs With Dr. Dre, Nas, and Eminem

The television mogul opened up about his working relationship with Dr. Dre, who will produce Fif’s next album. He detailed a lengthy process of refining his work in the studio to satisfy Dre’s ear. However, he credits Dre for understanding his creative direction each time. “I would write the record to break the ice, and we’d have something playing like [Dre] just got here even if he’s been here two or three hours and we got a record playing. He will change the drums and everything that you got there until you got something that’s a hit record,” he explained.

Fif apparently already has a few collaborations in the works already alongside revered legends. Billboard reports that Eminem already sent him new records to collaborate on, while Nas reached out for a feature on his next Hit-Boy-produced project. “He is now working on a studio album with Dr. Dre, Eminem has sent him new songs to collaborate on, and Nas has tapped him for a feature on his forthcoming King’s Disease 4,” Billboard’s Carl Lamarre stated. Hopefully, a new single comes soon. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates from Fif.

From Escobar to Investo-bar: Investments by Nas Continue to Run Up His Net Worth

Nas

Nas is known for arguably being one of the greater rappers of our time. However, in the past few years, Nas has added a different title to his name, that of a tech investor. Nas has invested in over 40 companies as a founding partner of Queensbridge Venture Partners. Queensbridge Venture Partners is a venture capital firm created by the rapper and his manager, Anthony Saleh. Nas said he decided to get involved in tech investments because he wanted “to be surrounded by the smartest people in the world.”

Nas has quite an impressive investment profile. Here are some of the companies he has invested in, along with their valuations: Dropbox- $10 billion valuation, Lyft- $5.5 billion valuation, Tilt- $400 million valuation, and Robinhood-raised $50 million in Series B. He was also an early investor in Ring, the smart doorbell company. After Amazon acquired Ring, he made $40 million, following Ring’s $415 million in sales in 2018. Nas was also an early investor in Coinbase, an online platform for buying, selling, transferring, and storing cryptocurrency. His stake is now worth $40 million.

Earlier this year, Nas teamed up with Google to raise $20 million in financial banking for Carry1st, a South African gaming company. SpongeBob, Mine Rescue, and Match League are just a few of the games released by Carry1st. In an interview with THR, Carry1st co-founder and CEO Cordel Robbin-Coker said, “We’re excited to partner with this world-class group of investors who, in addition to capital, bring expertise across gaming, fintech, and web3. In 2021, we launched multiple games and digital commerce solutions, achieving really strong growth. Together we can accelerate this growth and achieve our goal of becoming the leading consumer internet company in the region.”

At this rate, it does not look like the Queensbridge rapper is slowing down any time soon, and we are here for it.

La La Anthony Names Nas As Her Entire Top 5, Says She Once Wanted To Rap

He’s one of the most celebrated Hip Hop icons, and La La Anthony is giving her opinions on Nas. The BMF star has been lighting up the small screen as she moves forward in her acting career. The second season of BMF recently premiered, and Anthony caught up with AllHipHop to discuss the series, as well as her picks for Top 5 Rappers of All Time. It seems only one person holds down all positions.

“All-time MCs? Oh Nas, everybody knows that,” she said. “I don’t think there’s anybody — Nas is 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 for me. When it comes to lyricists and MCs and everything, I’ve been a Nas fan since I was 14, 15 years old.”

Anthony’s first introduction to global fame came from her stint as an MTV VJ. After climbing through the ranks, she began diversifying her portfolio with other entertainment projects, but Hip Hop has always been one of her first loves.

“I always say Hip Hop is the soundtrack to my life,” she also stated. “I started my career as an intern because I was such a fan of Hip Hop, that I wanted to be around music all the time. I started interning when I was 16 years old at a radio station, just to be around music and my favorite artists. Just be able to embody that.”

“That’s how I started my entire career, was chasing Hip Hop,” Anthony further shared. “It’s definitely the soundtrack to my life and the springboard into how I became what I am today.”

She also revealed there was a time during her teen years when she was insistent on being a rapper.

“It was serious. As a teenager, I really thought that’s what I was going to do,” said Anthony. “But my career, my life took a lot of different twists and turns. I’m still happy to do what I’m doing, and I’m still in the music business. It’s great to still be able to be in the entertainment music business in a different capacity.”

“I’m such a fan of Hip Hop and music, so I get to still be a part of it.”

Quentin Miller Suggests Nas Distanced Himself After Writing Credits On “KD3”

The ghostwriting allegations continue to haunt Quentin Miller’s career. He’s released solo music, though it hasn’t received the same attention as his writing credits.

Most recently, fans noted that he had credits on Nas’s King’s Disease 3. Unfortunately, due to Quentin Miller’s reputation, many fans believed that Nas wasn’t penning all of his bars on the project. However, QM said he was solely bouncing ideas in the studio after an invitation from Hit-Boy to join them during the session.

“I pulled up on Hit-Boy, I’m in the room, I bounce some ideas out, there we go. Clear it up. I just bounced some ideas, a couple ideas win. That’s it, that’s all that happened with the Nas shit,” he said.

During a recent conversation with Vlad TV, Quentin Miller discussed how harmful this narrative’s become. While he had nothing but praise for Nas, he explained the online chatter surrounding his pen left many trying to distance themselves from him.

QM said Nas shared significant praise for his penmanship and overall bars during their session.

“I respect Nas and love Nas like any other rapper in this world. To get an opportunity to work with him and he’s telling me, ‘Yo man, you’re one of the dopest new rappers I’ve heard.’ I’m taking this in. This is a great thing,” he explained. In the aftermath of the album’s release and the backlash Nas received, Quentin Miller suggested that the relationship soured.

“You get the opportunity to work with somebody and then, people find out. Then, they tear him down ’cause he worked with you. Rather than, ‘Look at you… damn, you must be dope,’” he said. “But it don’t turn out that way. It turn out they get burnt up so then, they’re looking at you crazy and then, they want nothing to do with you at all.”

Hit-Boy Is The Producer Of The Year: On 21 Savage & Nas Collab, The Rise Of Loop Makers & Sampling “The Five Heartbeats” On “Legit”

Hit-Boy is undoubtedly the producer of 2022. After closing out 2021 with a third collaborative effort with Nas, Magic, he kept the momentum high throughout the year. He reunited with Beyoncé on “THIQUE” off of Renaissance – a strong display of his ability to craft hits. However, he also locked in with some formidable MCs. We saw him work alongside legends like Snoop Dogg and 2 Chainz. He also served as the executive producer behind The Game’s Drillmatic Heart Vs. Mind and, even more recently, Nas’s King’s Disease III

“My responsibility is to just bring quality every time,” Hit-Boy told HNHH. “Like, really get into like the sonic sphere of where they flourish at. I feel like that’s why me and Nas win… I just like getting a specific pocket that allows their shit to breathe.”

Hit-Boy’s emphasis on bringing quality helped usher in a new era of Nas’s career. However, on the cusp of releasing King’s Disease III, 21 Savage sparked a debate surrounding Nas’ “relevance” in the culture. Fans and critics initially considered the comments disrespectful, but it didn’t take long for them to put their differences aside for “One Mic One Gun,” produced by Hit-Boy.

“I definitely was just like… I’m just a little like – man, this is crazy that we are the only genre that’s so quick to downplay the people around us, the OGs, whatever,’” Hit-Boy recalled of his initial reaction to 21’s comments. “And it’s like, I feel like what me and Nas are even pushing for is a bigger agenda just with hip hop and artists being able to mature and still make the flyest shit that they could possibly make that don’t sound dated.”

For the latest installment of HNHH’s 12 Days Of Christmas, we caught up with Hit-Boy to discuss bridging the intergenerational gap in hip-hop, King’s Disease III, and the history behind “Legit.”

Today In Hip Hop History: Nas’ Sixth Studio Album ‘God’s Son’ Turns 20 Years Old!

tumblr fbcf5315c4aaa3537958fe2e86fd5d01 110a522e 1280

On this day in Hip-Hop history, Nas released his sixth studio album, God’s Son, in 2002. This may be Nas’ most emotional album coming at a rough time in his personal life. With the passing of his mother and his bout with fellow New York rapper Jay-Z at its height, Nas catered his lyricism to be more introspective in relation to his own trials and tribulations. Nas crowned himself “God’s Son” in tribute to his mother’s legacy and to point out a self-acclaimed likeness to Jesus Christ.

The production Nas collected for this project was astounding. Working with The Alchemist, Salaam Remi, Eminem, and even Alicia Keys helped to create a sound true to New York Hip-Hop with its own modern twist. Salaam Remi produced the bulk of the album and in a time when rap was something for the club and a Neptunes’ beat was a signature this soulfully classic sound was refreshing.  The beats alone were critically acclaimed being mentioned in Vibe and Stylus Magazine and by countless critics.

Lyrically, Nas went in the opposite direction of what was popular at the time. As always, there was a true and necessary message behind everything that was said on the album, not to mention his flow and delivery were impeccable. The content was also deeply connected to what was going on in his own life. His references on songs like “Warrior” and “Last Real N***** Alive” were in reverence of his recent past mother. He even dedicated the track “Dance” to his mom. There were also a lot of Christian undertones throughout the album. Whether it be through titles of a song or metaphorically in bars spat, Nas’s religious views were intertwined with the majority of this album. Some of the other lyricists featured on the album were Alicia Keys and Nas’s ex-wife Kelis.

Commercially, this album was successful as well. It was certified platinum on January 14, 2003, and peaked at #18 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It also claimed the #1 spot on the Billboard Hip Hop/ R&B chart. The singles from this album, “Made You Look”, “I Can”, and “Get Down,” were also hits. Two of the Three released claimed spots on the Billboard Hot 100. “Made You Look” peaked at #32 and “I Can” peaked at #12. “I Can” has become a timeless song in Hip Hop over the years being an anthem of lifelong success for children in the black community.
