J Cole Criticized By “The Cosby Show” Actor For His Music’s Use Of The N-Word

J Cole has proven himself to be a very versatile MC when it comes to the different kinds of raps that he lays down. Sometimes, he’s in a deep lyrical mode that blends sociocultural messaging with personal narrative, and other times, he’s talking about chewing sticks like it’s Wrigley’s. Moreover, this push and pull is at the center of The Cosby Show actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s criticism of the current use of the n-word in hip-hop. During the launch of the 53-year-old’s new podcast Not All Hood on Monday (June 10), he spoke on specifically lamenting the use of this kind of language from his favorite lyricists, including the Dreamville boss.

“I think why I’m more against it now is because it’s used so gratuitously,” Warner expressed regarding J. Cole. “It’s used without regard. At this point, for me, in hip-hop, I think there should be a moratorium on ‘n***a’ and ‘b***h.’ It’s low-hanging fruit. It’s so easy. Everybody f***ing does it to the point that it’s corny.” It would be interesting to hear the “Trae The Truth In Ibiza” spitter’s thoughts on this interpretation.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s First Podcast Episode: Watch The J Cole & N-Word Conversation Around The 14-Minute Mark

“There are MCs who I love, who I cannot listen to anymore,” Warner continued on the premiere of his podcast. “I love J. Cole but I had to stop listening to J. Cole because I got tired of hearing ‘n***a’ and ‘b***h’ every two sentences. Because he’s proven himself to be such an incredible lyricist, [so I hate] the regularity that he does [use those words].” While this argument as far as profanity is a long-standing debate, it’s clear that Cole creates this contrast more strongly than folks would assume, and thus, his forays into words like these hit that much harder for detractors. If not for these terms, then some backlash pops up most certainly due to the varying quality of his recent material.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting on whether The Fall Off will release soon, joining a lengthy list of the most anticipated albums of what’s left of 2024. But whether or not it ends up releasing in 2025 or even later is still an unconfirmed and undeniable possibility. Regardless, we’re looking forward to hearing whatever J. Cole does next. Even those who take issue with his lyrical content sometimes can’t deny how special of an artist he is.

Kid Rock Pulls Out A Gun, Says The N-Word During Wild “Rolling Stone” Interview

Kid Rock brandished a gun during a new profile with Rolling Stone reporter David Peisner, who claims the conservative rockstar also said the n-word at multiple points. The outlet published the piece on Monday afternoon, detailing a visit to Rock’s home outside of Nashville. The conversation often turned to Rock’s views on politics.

“And I got a f*cking goddamn gun right here if I need it!” he shouted at one point. “I got them everywhere!” From there, Peisner quotes Rock as saying the n-word multiple times during a conversation about rap music. Afterward, he reveals that it wasn’t the only time Rock used the slur during the visit. Of those instances, Peisner wrote: “It’d be easy to label this as the rantings of a drunk racist, but as with everything that Ritchie does, it’s hard to know how calculated it all is. Is he just trying to get a reaction? Is he begging to be pilloried when this story comes out so he can launch into a very public tirade against ‘cancel culture?’ Is this all just a play for more attention? Would any of that make it less sh*tty?”

Rock also discusses his prior beef with Bud Light and says he’s back to drinking the beer. “We’ve got bigger targets,” he said, bringing up Planet Fitness and Ben & Jerry’s. “I don’t want to hurt people’s jobs and stuff like that when they don’t have any dog in the fight, but there’s a whole lot of other companies we should be going after.” He also suggests listening to the national anthem will make “liberal tears fall like rain.”

Video Of White Kendrick Lamar Fan Saying N-Word Onstage With Him Resurfaces Amid Drake Beef

Kendrick Lamar’s disses towards Drake on “euphoria” are sometimes imperfect, such as the Joel Osteen and Haley Joel Osment mix-up. But even that still makes sense (at least, a little bit), and there are other criticisms against the diss track that, while valid, don’t hold up under a ton of scrutiny. For one, a clip resurfaced on the Internet of a white fan rapping the n-word onstage with K.Dot during his performance of “m.A.A.d. city,” which is -– or rather, was -– a staple of many of his live shows. The reason why it’s relevant to bring up is because of the final shot that he took at Drizzy on his new song: “We don’t want to hear you say n***a no more.”

Furthermore, many called out the hypocrisy that this seemingly suggests, but other fans quickly brought up that Kendrick Lamar already addressed this very same conflict on his 2022 track “Auntie Diaries.” However, the viral instance that he referred to on that song about how he “let a white girl say n***a” happened in 2018, and wasn’t this particular clip. It’s also important to note that this footage below, seemingly from much earlier on in his career, ends abruptly, so we don’t know if there is more context or something that the rapper might’ve said afterwards. Back to that 2018 incident, though, the white fan said the n-word while rapping the chorus to “m.A.A.d. city” (just like this older clip), Kendrick stopped the music and corrected her, and then allowed her to go on after she apologized.

Kendrick Lamar Performs Alongside White Fan Who Says The N-Word: Watch

Within the context of “Auntie Diaries,” Kendrick Lamar referred to that 2018 moment as a way to call out his own hypocrisy for using the f-slur in relation to the LGBTQIA2+ community. Either everyone can say anything or folks should actually hold others accountable for the bigotry, discrimination, and violent history that their words perpetuate. But let’s also be very clear: this article has been a lot of explaining, something that Drake also deserves as far as misconceptions spreading about his racial identity, his upbringing, and his place in the rap game. Needless to say, both fanbases are definitely reaching occasionally to try to discredit the other.

Meanwhile, there’s a good chance that Drake will probably try to flip this against Kendrick Lamar in whatever he cooks up in response to “euphoria.” After all, both have done a decent job so far of retorting to each and every point that their opponent makes on wax. What’s more is that neither has really dropped “the bomb” yet, something that we don’t even know is a possibility against two titans of their stature and career history. But anything’s possible, so we’ll see how this argument holds up in the discourse.

Rick Ross Resurfaces Clip Of Drake Saying The N-Word Amid Feud

Rick Ross uncovered footage of Drake saying the n-word from years ago and posted the clip on his Instagram Story, on Tuesday. The move comes amid the ongoing feud between the two, which has devolved into nonstop taunting on social media, following a pair of diss tracks last week.

With his latest antics, Ross began by accusing the Toronto rapper of having ghostwriters for even his Instagram captions. “BBL Drizzy, just pick your phone up and talk to the people. You’re okay,” Ross said. “We know you may be shallow but everything’s fine.” From there, he called Drake a “white boy” and played the aforementioned clip.

It isn’t the first time Ross has labeled Drake a “white boy.” On his diss track, “Champagne Moments,” he echoed a similar sentiment. On his song, he rapped: “You ain’t never wanna be a n***a anyway, n***a, that’s why you got operation to make ya’ nose smaller than ya’ father nose, n***a. I unfollowed you, n***a, ’cause you sent a motherf*ckin’ cease and desist to French Montana, n***a. You sent the police, n***a, hated on the dog project.” Drake took issue with the remarks and, in a public text exchange with his mother, accused Ross of being “angry” and “racist.” Check out Ross’ latest posts in the feud below.

Rick Ross Dedicates His IG Story To Trolling Drake

Ross isn’t the only artist Drake is feuding with. He’s also been trading shots with Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, ASAP Rocky, Future, and more. He began doing so with the release of his song, “Push Ups.” Earlier this week, he hired a marching band to perform outside of Magic City in Atlanta to taunt Metro Boomin. Sexyy Red Reacts To Adin Ross Using The N-Word Onstage: Watch

Over the weekend, Sexyy Red linked up with Adin Ross for a livestream, which obviously resulted in several wild moments. During the “SkeeYee” performer’s appearance, for one, the duo discussed rumors that they slept together. Ross started the rumors himself earlier this month after chatting about the alleged hookup with DJ Akademiks. According to them, however, they were simply trolling and met for the first time on the day of the stream.

It’s far from the only controversy they addressed, however. At another point in the stream, Ross decided to show Sexyy Red the infamous clip of him saying the n-word onstage while rapping along to “I Don’t Like” with Chief Keef. The viral moment prompted a debate last year about who can use the word and under what circumstances, as the rapper seemingly gave Ross a “pass.”

Sexyy Red Claims Adin Ross “Couldn’t Wait” To Say It

Upon seeing the clip, Sexyy Red commended Ross for asking permission before saying the word. “You respected it, I see you respected it,” she said. “I like it when I see that in the crowd… He couldn’t wait to say it though.” Now, Sexyy Red is receiving some backlash from viewers, who believe she shouldn’t have let the internet personality slide like that. Countless commenters agree that despite asking for permission from Chief Keef, it was still offensive, and strange that he was so excited to say it.

“Nah this can’t be accepted,” one Instagram user writes in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section. “ABSOLUTELY NOT!” another says, “Cut the bullsh*t!” What do you think of Adin Ross using the n-word while rapping along to a song onstage With Chief Keef? Benzino Posts Montage Of Eminem Using The N-Word, Calls Him “Racist”

Benzino and Eminem have been at odds for some time now, and unfortunately, the release of the latter’s “Doomsday Pt. 2” only stoked the feud. In the track, which appears on Lyrical Lemonade’s album All Is Yellow, Em disses Benzino for his appearance, accuses him of being gay, and more. He even shuts down a hypothetical collab with The Source icon’s daughter, Coi Leray.

Of course, Benzino was quick to fire back, responding with not one but two diss tracks. He’s even currently gearing up to drop an accompanying music video for the second song, “Rap Elvis.” In order to prepare for the unveiling, he decided to throw a few jabs at Slim Shady on Instagram. Earlier today, he reposted a compilation of the white rapper using the n-word throughout his career, originally crafted by @treehillsclub.

Benzino Prepares For “Rap Elvis” Visual By Putting Eminem On Blast

“Throughout history you always had some black people who will constantly make excuses for racist white people,” Benzino captioned the post. “There will always be someone of color who thinks this is ok and it’s sad.” He went on to tease his new video, which is expected to arrive shortly. It will follow the release of Eminem’s “Doomsday Pt. 2” video, which dropped earlier this week. Benzino has high hopes for the video too, as evidenced by some of his latest comments about it.

“Oh y’all’s minds will be [mind blown emoji] when you see this,” he told fans of the upcoming visual. “I already [coffin emoji] him with [‘Rap Elvis’] so when I drop the video he’s permanently [headstone emoji] RIP.” What do you think of Benzino posting a compilation of Eminem using the N-word? Lil Yachty & Dr. Umar Debate Use Of The N-Word

Lil Yachty debated the use of the n-word with Dr. Umar after inviting the polarizing social media personality on his podcast, A Safe Place. While Yachty argued that his use of the word in his music and personal life is about reclamation, Umar argued it’s an example of “Post Traumatic Slavery Disease.”

“Show me another group of people who will fight for the right to continue to use a word that the government itself codified as a psychological word of mass destruction against your people,” Dr. Umar began. “It’s because of your Post Traumatic Slavery Disease.” On the other side, Yachty argued: “I was thinking it was a thing of almost just the swag and confidence that African Americans have that look like some, ‘F*ck y’all, we gon’ take the sh*t y’all use to break us down with and let you know that it don’t have no power over us.’”

Welcoming Umar on his podcast comes as the show continues to grow in popularity. Yachty has spoken with J. Cole, Lucki, Veeze, Sexyy Red, and many more artists in recent months. In addition to A Safe Place, Yachty is also hard at work on a new collaborative project with James Blake titled Bad Cameo. “I mean, granted, I think James has worked with a quite substantial amount of Hip Hop artists. But this project is so left for both of us,” he said. “And then, aside from the one picture that James posted, which — he doesn’t have many followers actually — I don’t think people know that we know each other exist. So it’s just gon’ be like, ‘What the fuck?! When they do this?’”

Lil Mabu Defends Fivio Foreign Collab, Disproves “N-Word” Controversy

TEACH ME HOW TO DRILL” by Lil Mabu featuring Fivio Foreign is the most self-aware track the white drill rapper’s done so far. In it, he acknowledges his privilege and lack of connection to the genre he plays in with one of its leaders in the New York scene right now. It’s an overall cheeky track to varying degrees of success, but at least the Upper East Side native’s leaning into it rather than trying to come off more hardened. However, this collaboration also addresses the “N-word” and how Mabu can’t say it, which prompted Fivio to “say it for him,” as they rap. Since his line and the B.I.B.L.E. artist’s ad-libs appear so close to one another, many thought that he actually said it.

Then, Lil Mabu acknowledged outlets reporting this as such and asked fans to defend him. “Someone please defend me [raised white fist emoji],” he commented under one of these posts. Of course, a couple of fans did, but it’s funny how a simple Genius search (or just listening to the song) could’ve avoided this conversation altogether. You can watch their music video below and call judgement for yourself; at least it’s definitely better than the material Mabu blew up with.

Lil Mabu & Fivio Foreign’s “TEACH ME HOW TO DRILL”: Stream

Furthermore, this is far from Lil Mabu’s first experiences with hot tracks, controversies, or making strides in the wider rap world. For example, he and Chrisean Rock linked up for “MR. TAKE YA B***H,” which actually ended up charting and finding a lot of success among listeners. In addition, this also involved the Baddies star’s ongoing feud with her ex and baby daddy Blueface, with which Lil Mabu also sought some smoke. In fact, there were even rumors that Mabu and Rock were dating, although that seems to have gone nowhere as of writing this article… if it was ever real.

Meanwhile, Fivio actually dropped plenty of other material for this holiday season. One of those is a classic flip of the track “Last Christmas” with Lil Tjay, which gives the Wham! original a nice drill spin. We’ll see if these artists’ next releases cause a similar gut reaction from listeners about the authenticity and respect of their craft. Ramona Singer Racism Allegations Grow With Problematic Language: “The Word I Used Was N-Word”

The Real Housewives cast members are best known for getting caught up in drama of all sorts. This time around, it’s Ramona Singer who’s feeling the heat. The starlet appears in the New York City edition of the popular reality series. Earlier this month Vanity Fair exposed her allegedly racist behaviour toward a Black member of the production team. Fellow housewives Eboni K. Williams and Lean McSweeney spoke to the outlet about their experiences working with Singer.

The former, who became the first Black woman cast in the franchise just a few years ago, claims that the blonde told her “most” Black people don’t have present fathers. To make matters worse, the comment came out during a training call with two racial justice representatives. A publicist from Bravo and a communications expert from NBCUniversal were also there. According to Williams, Singer preceded her troubling statement by asking, “What if they don’t have a father? Why can’t I say that?”

As reactions to the concerning allegations fly, Page Six has an update from the 66-year-old, who unsuccessfully attempted to clear her name via text. “The word I used was ‘N-Word,’ not n*g…,” Singer reportedly wrote to one of the publication’s journalists amid the backlash she’s been facing. Aside from that brief message, the East Coast native promised that she’ll return with a “full statement” for the media at a later time.

The world of reality TV seems to be plagued with a growing amount of racial tension lately. Besides the ongoing scandal with Ramona Singer, we also witnessed Erica Mena’s fall from grace in the summer after she was put on blast for calling Spice a “blue monkey” on Love & Hip Hop. Kai Cenat Confronts Adin Ross For Singing The N-Word At Chief Keef Show

Kai Cenat is one of the biggest names on Twitch. In fact, most months, he is the largest name on the platform. However, that wasn’t always the case. Back in the day, Adin Ross was actually the biggest streamer in the game. Overall, he would bring on a ton of guests, mostly rappers, and they would spit freestyles. The most iconic of these was from Tory Lanez. That said, Ross eventually fell off once he started engaging in bizarre antics. Now, he is no longer welcomed on Twitch and streams on Kick.

Just the other day, Ross was on stage performing with Chief Keef at his birthday bash. Things were going well until Ross got the green light from Keef to sing the n-word while on stage. Ross did it without a second thought and the video subsequently viral, for very obvious reasons. Many had a problem with it while others did not. Recently, however, Kai Cenat decided to confront Ross over the phone to see what was up.

Kai Cenat x Adin Ross

As you can see in the clip, Kai wasn’t too pressed about it. Instead, he was more interested in engaging in some sort of thought experiment. He asked Adin if he would continue to use the word should Cenat decide to give him the pass. Overall, Adin was actually quite uncomfortable with the question. He noted that he probably wouldn’t unless they were actually rapping along to some Chief Keef. Needless to say, Cenat wanted to coax Adin into doing it for some content. However, it all fell apart.

For the foreseeable future, it is hard to imagine a world in which Kai isn’t the king of Twitch. He continues to level up and his streams have been fantastic. Hopefully, he continues to elevate and show people what he can do. Let us know who your favorite streamer is, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.
