On Monday morning, April 15, Gunna confirmed everyone’s collective hunch. One Of Wun, his fifth studio album, is “on the way.” While the specific release date has not yet been revealed, a press release details that Gunna “will also be touring in support of his new album this spring,” so it would make sense to assume that it will drop before May 4 — or maybe on May 4 — which marks opening night for his The Bittersweet Tour in Columbus, Ohio. In the meantime, Gunna satiated his fans’ mounting appetite with a video for “Bittersweet.”
Gunna previously released “Bittersweet” and “Prada Dem” featuring Offset as singles in February and March, respectively. Gunna’s last album release was A Gift And A Curse in June 2023.

Gunna is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
Uproxx had Aaron Williams and Philip Cosores on the ground at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California for Weekend 1 of Coachella 2024, and among their main takeaways was that the festival had “plenty of surprises.” In a literal sense, Coachella 2024 Weekend 1 staged several surprise guests who easily could have headlined their own sets.
Below, check out the best surprise performances from Coachella 2024 Weekend 1.
Billie Eilish With Lana Del Rey
Friday night’s (April 12) headliner was Lana Del Rey. Billie Eilish made a surprise appearance — although the rumor mill was busy earlier in the day, so it really wasn’t much of a surprise — during the set. They performed Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes” and Del Rey’s “Video Games” together. Eilish showered Del Rey with praise, telling the crowd, “This is the reason for half you b*tches’ existence, including mine.” (Eilish later held a surprise Coachella party of her own, where she debuted music from her forthcoming album, Hit Me Hard And Soft.)

Elsewhere on Friday night, Shakira made a she-wolf entrance during Bizarrap’s set. Of course, she performed their Billboard Hot 100 top-10 hit “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” but she really stole the show by announcing her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.
Becky G, Arcángel With Peso Pluma
Earlier on Friday, Peso Pluma and Arcángel released the video for “PESO COMPLETO.” It was all a set up for Pluma’s Friday night Coachella set, where Arcángel joined him for the live debut of the song. Becky G also joined Pluma to perform “Chanel.”
Olivia Rodrigo With No Doubt
It had been nearly a decade since No Doubt last performed before the iconic Gwen Stefani-led band reunited for Coachella 2024. The nostalgia-jammed set on Saturday night, April 13, hit all the right notes — including several “Just A Girl” callbacks (as chronicled by Billboard.) But one brand-new element for the ska band was inviting Olivia Rodrigo to the stage, where Rodrigo and Stefani sang “Bathwater.”
Juvenile With Jon Batiste
Jon Batiste is among music’s most ubiquitous collaborators, so he presumably had plenty of options when deciding who to bring out during his first-ever Coachella set. He landed on Juvenile and Willow to perform “Back That Azz Up” and “Be Who You Are,” respectively.
This one is mostly a joke, but we learned in 2023 that we are not allowed to ignore when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce appear anywhere. Swift is on her The Eras Tour hiatus, so she did not perform, but she was notably in the crowd (dancing, kissing, singing, swooning) with Kelce for Bleachers and Ice Spice. X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok house unlimited footage.
ASAP Rocky, Charlie Wilson, Donald Glover, And Kali Uchis With Tyler The Creator
It is truly Reneé Rapp’s world right now. She was introduced by the OG The L Word cast and brought out Kesha for an updated rendition of “Tik Tok” in which they shouted, “F*ck P. Diddy!”
Kesha was also spotted going down a gigantic slide with Paris Hilton, so that’s fun.
J Balvin has been a part of several notable moments in the past — as he shared on Instagram ahead of his set on Sunday, April 14 — so why stop now? The Colombian supernova was joined by Will Smith for an all-out performance of “Men In Black.” It was perfectly camp.

Justin and Hailey Bieber enjoyed Coachella 2024 from the crowd (and from Hailey’s Rhode pop-up) like everybody else — until Bieber (and Wizkid) made a surprise cameo with Tems on Sunday night for “Essence.” (Wizkid’s “Essence” featuring Bieber and Tems peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2021.) Bieber’s performance felt especially surprising because he has mostly kept a low profile since canceling his Justice World Tour in February 2023 after several postponements due to health concerns.

21 Savage, ASAP Rocky, And Teezo Touchdown With Doja Cat
Weekend 1’s explosive finale came courtesy of Doja Cat on Sunday.
“This year, you brought a full-size Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton to your headlining set,” Uproxx’s Aaron Williams wrote in his review. “Bless you, you demented genius. You are the best.”
Doja also brought out 21 Savage, ASAP Rocky, and Teezo Touchdown. 21 was there to perform “N.H.I.E.,” his track with Doja from his American Dream album, while Rocky (“URRRGE!!!!!!!!!!”) and Teezo (“MASC“) each helped deliver live debuts from Doja’s Scarlet deluxe album.
The first weekend of Coachella just wrapped up and as usual, it was a feature-packed event. The headliners in particular showed out with Lana Del Rey being joined by Billie Eilish, Tyler, The Creator bringing out Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis, and Doja Cat closing the weekend with 21 Savage. Additionally, A$AP Rocky made appearances during both Tyler and Doja’s sets. But the entire weekend was packed full of guest stars, including Will Smith popping up in a place you probably wouldn’t expect.
Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin performed at the festival on Sunday. He brought out some guests earlier in his set, but had a big finale planned. It was a huge surprise for fans in person and those watching the livestream at home to see Will Smith come out. It wasn’t just surprising that he was there, but what he did while there. The rapper performed his classic soundtrack hit “Men In Black.” The performance included some of the costumes and choreography from the original video and the addition of some new alien background dancers. Check out the bizarre and fun video of the performance below.
Despite not having released much new music recently, Smith continues to keep a foot in both the worlds of acting and music. He’s currently filming the 4th movie in the Bad Boys franchise and has been sharing updates with fans since the film was first announced. In the most recent update, he posed with singer/songwriter Jon Batiste on set. Batiste himself made an appearance at Coachella over the weekend when he joined Lana Del Rey for their collaboration “Candy Necklace.”
For much of last year, Will Smith was dealing with the fallout from numerous public revelations made by Jada-Pinkett Smith about their relationship. What do you think of J Balvin having Will Smith out as a guest during his Coachella set? Why do you think the pair chose to perform “Men In Black?” Let us know in the comment section below.
DJ Akademiks sat down with Joe Budden on his eponymous podcast, Monday, to get to the bottom of his issues with Drake. The two reflected on Budden’s back and forth with the Toronto rapper following the release of For All The Dogs, last year. At the time, Budden accused Drake of “rapping for the kids” with the project.
After explaining that his own criticism of the project came from the place of an “entitled fan,” Akademiks explained: “I think your criticism was a little bit different. I remember asking him, because me and him had a conversation. I was like, ‘I’ve supported your music, reviewed it, and whatever for over a decade now. You kinda seem sensitive for the very first time about criticism.’ And he was like, ‘Nah, Joe’s criticism wasn’t just regular criticism. This n***a, he knows me.’” In response, Budden labeled that unfair and explained that he doesn’t actually know him like that.
As for the comments that set Drake off, Budden argued at the time: “He rappin’ for the children. Yo dog, I had to look up how old this n***a was when I finished listening to the album. You are 36. Your birthday is in 20 days. I Googled that, too. You’re going to be 37 years old. Get the f*ck away from some of these younger n****s. And stop f*cking these 25-year-olds. I want to hear adult Drake rapping for adult people. … He’s rapping for the kids, the streams, the accolades. He ain’t trying to rap for me. I accept that.”

Out of the many shots that Drake had for Kendrick Lamar on his leaked “Push Ups” diss track, one in particular instilled fear in the hearts of even the most hardcore OVO fans. “I be with some bodyguards like Whitney,” he rapped on the cut, referencing his security detail and Whitney Houston’s role in the film The Bodyguard. However, the real notable aspect of this bar is that K.Dot’s partner’s name is Whitney Alford, and the common interpretation is that The Boy is claiming that she cheated on him with his bodyguards. As DJ Akademiks recently explained on his livestream, this is a very dangerous game for him to play again considering how this worked out for him the first time.
“Drake… you did the same thing twice now,” DJ Akademiks pointed out. “You mentioned Virginia Williams or whatever, Pusha T’s wife. And you saw that n***a took the gloves off, and we saw what happened. You mentioned Whitney, and Kendrick Lamar’s wife’s name is Whitney. You have to be prepared for anything! There is no, ‘Oh, nah, I can’t believe you said that.’ No! ‘Cause you’re talking crazy already, too. This is a knock-them-out slugfest, this is no holds barred, this is, ‘I don’t care what that n***a says!’ He could expose…”
Furthermore, this is a hot topic of debate for rap fans now, especially those who remember the savagery of Pusha T’s “The Story Of Adidon.” Still, DJ Akademiks still thinks that Drake has the leg-up right now, and that Kendrick Lamar is “on the clock” to respond quickly with a retort. Many continue to debate over whether either MC can really beat the other, considering the wildly different lanes they occupy. Also, it seems like no matter what happens in this beef, neither fanbase will ever be able to reconcile with the other.
Meanwhile, who do you think will “win” this showdown? Does the Whitney bar pose a grave threat to the 6ix God now or is the Compton lyricist the more affected target? However you may feel, drop your thoughts in the comments section down below. Also, log back into HNHH for more news and the latest updates on DJ Akademiks, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar.
Rick Ross called out comedian Ben Da Donn on social media, over the weekend, after he voiced his support for Drake in their ongoing feud. Ben joked on Twitter about Ross’ recent diss track, “Champagne Moments,” making fun of the rapper for caring about who he follows online. On the song, Ross raps: “You ain’t never wanna be a n***a anyway, n***a, that’s why you got operation to make ya’ nose smaller than ya’ father nose, n***a. I unfollowed you, n***a, ’cause you sent a motherf*ckin’ cease and desist to French Montana, n***a. You sent the police, n***a, hated on the dog project.”
In response, Ben posted: “Imagine being 50sum tambout ‘AND THATS WHY I UNFOLLOWED YOU!!!!’ HMMMPPPHHH.” Ross caught wind of the tweet in an Instagram repost and wrote in the comments section: “Wash the bottom of my yacht.” When users told Ben to stay out of the drama, he fired back on Twitter: “Yall talkin bout stay out of it…Ima comedian…. But shiiiiiddd…. Roasting is what i COME FROM…. This aint nun but a lit roast session at the Lunch Table… Somebody tag me in.”
Ben isn’t the only Drake affiliate Ross has called out on social media in recent days. He also took aim at Birdman after the Cash Money Records co-founder voiced his support for Drake. In a video on social media, Ross remarked: “Aye, that’s where Birdman house was at, right over there. Stunna, that’s where your house was at, right there. The little island over there.”
Ross may have already responded to Drake’s leaked “Push Ups” diss, but fans are still eagerly waiting for word from Kendrick Lamar. Be on the lookout for further updates on Rick Ross on HotNewHipHop.
Coachella 2024 wrapped up its first weekend yesterday and Doja Cat was easily one of the best performers. The community of hip-hop fans and attendees seem to think the same, as her wildly creative and avant-garde sets were a major part of her success on stage. The pop rap mega star’s goofy and unapologetic personality has earned a lot of hate online as of late. But you can tell her imagination ran free when it came to putting this show together and fans have not been complaining about it in this case.
Numerous publications such as Variety, Rolling Stone, and Los Angeles Times have been raving about it as well, further hammering it home as one of the best parts of Coachella. One of Doja Cat’s sets that has been making the rounds online since last night has been her performance of “Demons” from Scarlet. People have been drawn to the crazy outfits her background dancers were donning, including Doja’s elongated blonde wig. Also making statements where her fellow performers, as they totally covered in blonde suits that made them look like ungroomed dogs.
As for song itself, “Demons” took on a more orchestral and somehow darker tone than the original. Fans in The Neighborhood Talk‘s IG comment section were loving the choreography and the passionate performance from Doja. “Doja right now is a CLEAR example of why I love this s***! If you can’t perform, if you aren’t in rehearsal, if you don’t have the creative direction you DO NOT love this s***!!!!!!” Another person adds, “Now that’s what you call an artist 10/10 song 10/10 performance.”
What are your thoughts on the show that Doja Cat put on at Coachella? Is she the best female rapper in the game right now, why or why not? Where does rank amongst rappers as live performers? Have you been bumping any of the new tracks from Scarlet 2: CLAUDE? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Doja Cat and Coachella. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.
DJ Akademiks says that Drake messaged him on Sunday night to confirm that the “Hi Whitney” diss track he played on stream was A.I. and not official. The fan-made song makes numerous references to Kendrick Lamar’s wife, Whitney Alford. It’s a separate song from the first leaked track from the Toronto rapper, “Push Ups,” on which he targets Lamar, The Weeknd, Rick Ross, Metro Boomin, and more. Despite being fake, Akademiks is still a fan of the energy on the track.
“He did hit me,” Akademiks revealed. “I guess when I was playing that ‘Hi Whitney’ sh*t, he said that’s A.I. He said 100% A.I. So, I’m gonna take his word, but I ain’t gonna lie to you. That sh*t is slick… That’s really the Drake bag I want him to get into. It’s not necessarily that track. That’s the bag I want him to get into. The slick talk but direct talk over some smooth beat.”
The drama began when Kendrick Lamar dissed both Drake and J. Cole with his verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That,” last month. The attack sparked a seemingly all-out blitz on Drake with The Weeknd, ASAP Rocky, and more shading him in new songs. He finally fired back with the leaked track, “Push Ups,” last week. While Lamar has yet to respond, Rick Ross had a diss track ready to go within hours. On his song, he accused Drake of getting a nose job and referred to him as a “white boy.” He called Ross “angry” and “racist” in response.

NLE Choppa has been creating quite a stir with the song “Slut Me Out 2.” Overall, this is a track that was previewed at Rolling Loud California, and immediately went viral online. Although it is not in line with what Choppa has made in the past, fans are digging it. However, there are some day one fans who feel a little bit alienated by all of this. At the end of the day, it is a much different vibe for him. It might take a while for some to come to grips with the change in direction. That said, it remains to be seen if he will even continue this sound, in the future.
Considering the sexual nature of the track, there are some who are trying to interpret some of the lyrics. For instance, at one point in the song, Choppa says “it smells like badussy.” Overall, this had some fans questioning his sexuality, as they thought it had to do with a man’s body parts. However, it appears as though fans were getting confused with a different word, entirely. Well, NLE decided to take to Twitter where he addressed some of the confusion that had been brought up.
“Badussy And Bussy Two Different Things,” Choppa revealed. “Badussy is a Memphis term meaning something smelling like booty, dick, and pussy referring to the smell of intercourse between a man and woman.” So there you have it folks, now you know the difference. While some of you probably never cared about this, at least you have a new word to add to your vocabulary.
Let us know what you think of the most recent track from NLE Choppa, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this is a good track? Are you excited about this new direction from the Memphis artist? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.
