Tupac’s Estate Threatened To Sue Drake Over His Use Of The Late Rapper’s Voice In A Kendrick Lamar Diss

In an ironic twist, Drake has been issued a cease-and-desist letter by the estate of the late Tupac Shakur over using an AI-generated reproduction of the West Coast rap icon’s voice in a Kendrick Lamar diss track. According to Billboard, the estate sent the letter today demanding he pull the “Taylor Made Freestyle” from streaming services or face legal action.

The estate’s attorney Howard King wrote, “The Estate is deeply dismayed and disappointed by your unauthorized use of Tupac’s voice and personality. Not only is the record a flagrant violation of Tupac’s publicity and the estate’s legal rights, it is also a blatant abuse of the legacy of one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. The Estate would never have given its approval for this use.”

The irony comes from the fact that Drake himself seemed to frown on the use of AI to duplicate his own voice as recently as last year, when a fake song using his and The Weeknd’s digitally reproduced voices was taken down by Universal Music Group copyright strikes. He also personally shaded an AI-generated version of Ice Spice’s “Munch” that used his voice. Incidentally, Kendrick Lamar also cobbled together a conversation between himself and Tupac on his 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly, but in that instance, he had the estate’s permission to re-use audio from an interview, which demonstrates the whole point around publicity rights.

Billie Eilish spoke at length about her sexuality during a new interview with Rolling Stone, admitting several details about her masturbation habits and her journey to discovering her attraction to women. The conversation arose when Eilish admitted sex is one of the primary ways she decompresses.

“I basically talk about sex any time I possibly can,” she explained. “That’s literally my favorite topic.” From there, she complained about how the expression of feminine sexuality can be a frowned-upon topic in society. Getting more candid, she added that “self-pleasure is an enormous, enormous part of my life,” and revealed it has helped her overcome body image issues. “I should have a Ph.D. in masturbation,” she joked.

Eilish also discussed the sensual track, “Lunch,” from her upcoming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. “That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,” Eilish said. “I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after. I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand — until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina. I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up.”

Eilish previously revealed her attraction to women during an interview with Variety, last fall, but later admitted she didn’t intend to do so. In turn, she complained about the outlet outing her in a post on Instagram afterward. These days, she regrets the post and admits she overreacted. “Who f*cking cares?” she said. “The whole world suddenly decided who I was, and I didn’t get to say anything or control any of it. Nobody should be pressured into being one thing or the other, and I think that there’s a lot of wanting labels all over the place. Dude, I’ve known people that don’t know their sexuality, or feel comfortable with it, until they’re in their forties, fifties, sixties. DaBaby Claims A Well Known Rapper Tried To Start Fake Beef With Him

Most fans have no idea what’s actually going on behind-the-scenes in the music industry. Because of that, they can often speculate occasionally quite wildly on how the strings could be secretly being pulled. Sometimes that comes in the form of new artists who rapidly gain massive popularity being labelled as industry plants. Other times fans suspect that supposed conflicts and storylines are set-up For years there’s been rumors among fans that the alleged infidelity that led to Beyonce’s Lemonade and Jay-Z’s 4:44 was faked, though there’s no evidence for it. During a recent podcast appearance though, DaBaby got fans wondering about fake rap beef all over again.

2024 has been a major year for rap beef already. Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj kicked things off earlier in the year while Kendrick Lamar and Drake have taken over as the biggest beef around right now. Though there hasn’t been many allegations of faking it being thrown around, it has resulted in a major spike in popularity for all involved, including Kendrick’s original diss track “Like That” spending three weeks at the top of the Hot 100. DaBaby Comments On Supposed Fake Rap Beefs

In the new clips, DaBaby claims that a “well known” and “lyrical” rapper recently gave him a call. He claims that the rapper in question had observed the spike in popularity from Kendrick and J. Cole’s beef and wanted to start a staged beef to capitalize. As one of the hosts mentions, they would be friends in private but beefing in public.

Travis Scott Performs At The New Mercedes-Benz Showcase

Earlier this week, Mercedes Benz held a special event for the unveiling of a new car. The newest in their G-class series continues an investment into the world of electric cars and made a variety of bold promises about its game-changing potential. In order to get as much attention as possible on the announcement, they had a special guest along to perform during the event. Travis Scott was in attendance to unpack some of his UTOPIA songs for those in the crowd.

In a series of videos making the rounds online, Scott injects plenty of life and energy into the show. He surprised everyone in attendance by stepping out of the car already parked on stage. Though he made use of the entire stage for the performance he did eventually return to the car and sit on it during a later song. Scott has kept busy ever since he returned from an extended hiatus following the Astroworld festival tragedy. Travis Scott recently released some new music for his fans but it probably didn’t get the reaction he was expecting. He shared a new remix of “FE!N” which appeared on UTOPIA and originally featured Playboi Carti. The new remix version instead features Chase B and fans weren’t vibing with the change. Many took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the song following its release.

Scott appeared on another recent remix that landed with much better favor among fans. He joined Sexyy Red and Chris Brown on a remix of Nicki Minaj’s hit “FTCU” last week. Ka’Oir’s celebrity status also often puts her at risk of inadvertently becoming involved in drama, as evidenced by an incident in January. Rick Ross’ ex Tia Kemp took to social media to put him on blast, accusing him of sleeping with Ka’Oir while Gucci was in prison. The KA’OIR COSMETICS CEO was quick to shut her down, however, and to throw some shade Kemp’s way for the outlandish allegations.

“Ain’t neva had no dealings with Rick Ross PERIOD!” she said in response to Kemp’s claims. “Keep my name out y’all mix up! Ross & my husband are friends! Soulja Boy Wants To Be The One To Buy TikTok: ‘How Much Y’all Want?’

Today, in a move sure to endear him to a younger generation of voters, President Joe Biden signed a bill that requires ByteDance to sell its US-based interests in TikTok or see the app banned from cell phone marketplaces. While it has been described as a bill banning TikTok outright, it’s actually pretty vaguely written and probably more or less unenforceable as is, the equivalent of “okay, Boomer” in legal form.

But that hasn’t stopped the offers from rolling in, including a (probably facetious) one from Soulja Boy, who asked on Twitter, “How much yall want for TikTok?” declaring, “I’ll buy it.”

The “Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” (say that five times fast) has otherwise been met with widespread criticism. From its oblique wording to its borderline hypocritical positioning — focusing on TikTok after Meta actively engaged in the promotion of phony news propaganda aimed at influencing the last election, for instance — TikTok’s user base has pointed out a number of flaws in the political strategy behind the bill. Cam’ron Puts Male Fan On Blast For Trying To Get A Glimpse Of His Feet

Cam’ron is easily one of the funniest rappers in the entire game. Overall, he is consistently making jokes on social media, and on his show, It Is What It Is. Although he may not be part of the mainstream sports media establishment, he has created a show that people truly love. The viewership is there and there is a consistent stream of viral clips that make it to the internet. He and Mase have a truly great relationship, and their chemistry since becoming friends again is truly unmatched.

Having said all of that, Cam can be a bit sensitive when it comes to any matters involving sexuality. For instance, he is always saying “pause” as to make sure what comes out of his mouth isn’t being misconstrued. Moreover, if a man makes a certain comment towards him, you can be sure that he is going to call it out. That is exactly what happened on Instagram Live recently as he was on a boat, enjoying the sunshine. He had some socks on, and at one point, a man asked him to take them off.

Cam’ron Strikes Again

That is when Cam’ron snapped and began berating the man for his comments. He was clearly a bit perturbed by the man’s brazenness. In fact, he decided to block the man while live. Subsequently, he ended his live stream as he appeared to be in a pretty bad mood. Clearly, the situation took a lot out of him, and it had him thoroughly annoyed. Hopefully, fans get the message in the future that these comments won’t fly around him.

Big Sean Recalls Nearly Getting Eminem To Perform Over A J Dilla Beat With Him

Big Sean says he was nearly able to convince Eminem to rap with him over a J Dilla beat for his 2020 album Detroit 2. Speaking about his relationship with the legendary rapper during a new cover story for Essence, Sean explained how it nearly came together, but Em preferred another production on his project instead.

“It reminded me of an old Eminem,” Sean said of the beat. “And when I sent it to Em, he was like, ‘Man, I like the Dilla beat, for sure. I get it.’” Despite being a fan of the production, Eminem preferred to lend his talents to the beat for the track, “Friday Night Cypher,” alongside several other hometown artists. Tee Grizzley, Kash Doll, Cash Kidd, Payroll, 42 Dugg, Boldy James, Drego, Sada Baby, and Royce Da 5’9″ were all among them.

It’s not the first time Eminem has reportedly passed on a J Dilla beat. D12’s Denaun Porter previously revealed on Paul Rosenberg’s Paul Pod in 2022 that Eminem originally had the beat for A Tribe Called Quest‘s “Get a Hold.” He explained at the time: “He had the illest song to that beat. Em had that beat before Tribe and them had it. Proof gave it to him. It was like, ‘Yo, I gotta get some Dilla beats.’ I don’t know if he recorded it, but he wrote it because I remember him writing it and I remember the song being ill as hell […] The concept he had to it was crazy.”

Drake’s Rigorous Tour Schedule Has Joe Budden Suspicious, Fans Remind Him It’s Been Five Years

Since July of last year, Drake has been making his way around North America on his It’s All A Blur tour. He was first joined by 21 Savage, and teamed up with J. Cole for the latest leg. His run with Cole saw him perform in over 80 cities, and combined with all the rap beef he’s currently involved in, undoubtedly left him exhausted. According to Joe Budden, the hitmaker’s relentless tour schedule is confusing to him, and may indicate that there’s something going on behind the scenes.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Budden said there’s no way Drake wants to tour as much as he has been, and must be doing it because he’s contractually obligated to. He believes that this means his deal is either amazing, horrible, or both at the same time. “Whatever he got with Universal, I don’t trust it,” he explained. “I do not trust that big headline that went out about $400M, $500M a year.”

Joe Budden Thinks Drake Got An Amazing Deal, A Horrible One, Or Both

“How he tours is funny to me,” Budden continued, insisting he has no inside info on the matter. “I’ve been saying it, and every time I say it nobody pays me any mind. That’s funny and it’s weird. It’s wrong. Nobody at his level tours that much, you don’t. Unless you have to do it, unless you’re on the hook… They’re working him.” Budden’s claims have sparked quite a reaction among social media users. They’re now reminding him that Drizzy’s co-headlining tour with Migos was in 2018, over five years ago, and arguing that his tour schedule seems pretty reasonable to them.

Kid Cudi Cancels His Summer Tour After Breaking His Foot

Weekend 2 of Coachella wrapped up a few days ago marking the end of one of the biggest music festivals around and the beginning of festival season in the US. The event was headlined by Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler, The Creator. Each of them delivered massive performances on both weekends. There was talent littered throughout the lineup from top to bottom. That included a number of standout rap moments from the likes of Ice Spice, Lil Uzi Vert, Coi Leray, and more.

Each weekend also features special surprise performers who were only announced at the last minute. Weekend one featured indie band Vampire Weekend who didn’t disappoint. They made for one of the festival’s oddest moments bringing Paris Hilton on stage with them. For weekend two, Kid Cudi was the special guest, though now he probably wishes he hadn’t joined the fest last minute. At the end of a set that delighted fans, Cudi jumped off the stage. That’s where the problems began as the jump actually resulted in the rapper and singer breaking his foot. He took to social media later in the day to reveal to fans what had happened. Kid Cudi Pulls The Plug On Tour

In a tweet made earlier today, Cudi shares some bad news with fans. Firstly, he revealed specifically that he broke his calcaneus and that it will require surgery. Then he announced that due to the long recovery period from surgery he had no choice but to cancel his previously announced world tour later this year. He apologizes to fans and promises everyone will get a full refund. He also assures them that once he’s healed he will be back and better than ever ready to play shows again.
