Kendrick Lamar Didn’t Wait For Drake To Answer And Came Back With Another Diss Track, ‘6:16 In LA’

In case you missed it (somehow), Kendrick Lamar and Drake are beefing right now. In March, Lamar went after Drake (and J. Cole) on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” Last month, Drake responded with “Push Ups,” and a few days ago, Lamar fired back with “Euphoria.”

It’s Drake’s turn, but Lamar decided to skip the line and go again: Today (May 3), he dropped another Drake diss, “6:16 In LA.”

On the track, Lamar implies that people in Drake’s camp aren’t loyal to him, with lines like, “Have you ever thought that OVO is working for me,” “Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it,” “If you was street smart, you woulda caught your entourage is only to hussle you,” “100 guy that you got on salary, and 20 of them want you as the casualty,” and “It’s time you look around and see who’s really around you.”

Notably, the song’s title follows the same format as Drake’s famous timestamp songs.

This comes shortly after Rick Ross advised Drake to not respond to “Euphoria,” saying, “He may not even heard this yet but look, white boy: I know we not friends, but let me give you this advice because you ain’t got nobody around you, you ain’t got no real n****s around you. Let me put it like that: ain’t no real n****s. Stop. Don’t respond. Don’t respond. You ain’t even peep when the intro came on with that Teddy Pendergrass, that was that Black vibe. Don’t do it. Don’t go write an 8-minute verse.”

Drake Fans Accuse Kendrick Lamar Of Stealing Battle Rappers’ Lines

Debate is raging heavily online over the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef, especially now that the latter went back to back and dropped another diss on Friday morning (May 3). Both fanbases are going wild for their fav, with some going on a slippery slope by trying to discredit some of the bars on the first K.Dot diss, “euphoria.” For example, folks pulled up some videos of various rap battles in which competitors use the “I hate” repetition from the song’s refrain, the “park your son” bar, and the YNW Melly bar. While this is not necessarily an invalid critique, someone should make a compilation of all the “Interscope (in the scope) Aftermath” MJ, and Whitney Houston Bodyguard bars that rappers have spit over the years, all of which land on “Push Ups.”

Furthermore, we don’t say that to hate on Drake, but to point out that this is a flawed argument no matter which way you frame it. His previous ghostwriting claims don’t matter either, as Kendrick Lamar also faced some since-debunked ghostwriting rumors amid this beef. If you hold hip-hop up to unrealistic originality standards in the art of wordplay, you would deprive many listeners of their first time hearing classic bars on more popular records. The ghostwriting issue occurs most frequently when you’re not backing up your homages with striking idiosyncrasy on your other bars, or when you pay them too often in succession.

Drake Fans Think Kendrick Lamar Is Biting Battle Rap: See Replies For Reactions

Of course, we’re sure that Drake will probably have at least one or two bars on whatever he cooks up next that are tributes or references to other bars, or are just more common metaphors or similes than one would think. None of them will discredit him from the beef, and Kendrick Lamar jabbing him for the same reason would fall equally as flat. All that being said, there is still valid critique to be made about “euphoria” and its lyrical content. So if you’re an OVO soldier, don’t give up: you might still get naysayers on your side.

Meanwhile, as the rest of the hip-hop world continues to debate “euphoria,” the brand new diss, and how this beef has progressed so far, we can only guess as to whether there’s another round. Will there be a big revelation like both MCs have teased and warned the other about? Or is this purely a lyrical battle? We’ll see what we see when the smoke clears.

Ebro Goes Scorched Earth On DJ Akademiks Amid Drake & Kendrick Lamar Feud

Ebro is someone who has been commenting on hip-hop and hip-hop culture for years. Overall, the Hot 97 host can be a bit controversial at times given the fact that he has had it out with some of the younger artists in the game. However, he is still a voice that people look to. He has years of experience in media, and he has seen a lot of rappers come and go. Moreover, he is the perfect person to speak on the ongoing feud between none other than Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

Recently, Ebro got to sit down with Funk Flex, where they discussed the Drake and Kendrick Lamar situation. For now, Funk Flex has Drake winning right now, while Ebro is taking Kendrick’s side. However, it seems as though Ebro is currently taking issue with some of the blogs that appear to be taking Drake’s side without a lick of reflection. He mostly went after none other than DJ Akademiks and how Ak has been a huge proponent of Drizzy throughout this entire process.

Ebro vs. Akademiks

As you can see above, the words Ebro used here were quite harsh. He said that Akademiks is a “pussy” and that Drake doesn’t even like him. Instead, Drake just uses Akademiks because he is easy to manipulate. Overall, this is a pretty big accusation. However, Ebro and Ak have never liked each other, so it is easy to see where some of this hate is coming from. Only time will tell whether or not Akademiks decides to respond to this.

Let us know what you think of these comments from Ebro, down below. Do you believe he is being too harsh with DJ Akademiks? Do you believe that he is correct in his assessment that Drake doesn’t actually likes Ak, but sees him as a tool to spread propaganda? Drake Seemingly Responds To Kendrick Lamar Mocking Toronto Slang

Drake and Kendrick Lamar are currently in the midst of a huge rap feud that has the entire music world paying attention. Overall, this has been brewing ever since Kendrick dropped his “Control” verse all the way back in 2013. When Kendrick dropped “Like That,” it became clear that he wanted to engage in a real feud. Subsequently, Drake came through with “Push Ups” and continued to poke the bear with “Taylor Made Freestyle.” On Tuesday, Kendrick delivered a banger with “Euphoria,” and now, it seems like he is winning, even if by a slim margin.

Near the end of Kendrick’s diss track, he delivers a mockery of the Toronto accent and some of the slang that comes with it. One word in particular was used, “crodi.” This is a word you will hear a lot in Toronto, and Kendrick used it in a manner that felt at least a little bit demeaning. Well, it seems as though Drake has issued a response to the use of the word. In the tweet below, you can see a screengrab from his Instagram story, in which Adonis can be seen looking in the mirror. Drake followed this up with the caption “Mirror time crodi…”

Kendrick Lamar Refused To Appear On Drake’s “First Person Shooter”

Kendrick Lamar hates Drake. It used to be a speculative statement, but after the release of his diss track “Euphoria,” it’s been validated as a fact. The rapper hates the way Drake talks and acts, and according to DJ Akademiks, he hates the way Drake tried to play nice and clique up. The internet personality dropped a bombshell revelation during his May 2 live stream when he revealed that Drake asked Lamar to appear on his 2023 hit “First Person Shooter.”

“First Person Shooter” is the song that kicked off the Drake vs. Lamar battle. The song features J. Cole and the 6 God swapping bars about being the best of their generation, and the former shouts out Lamar for being the third in the so-called “Big Three.” Evidently, this reference is a glimpse of what the original version of “First Person Shooter” was going to be.

According to DJ Akademiks, Drake asked J. Cole and Lamar to contribute verses, but Lamar wanted nothing to do with him or the song. He was so put off by the offer, in fact, that it led to him writing the “Like That” diss.

Kendrick Lamar References The Offer On “Euphoria”

“Drake hit up Kendrick,” Akademiks said. “Now, if you think about this entire timeline and beef with that in mind, makes sense… I’m hearing that ‘First Person Shooter’ was a song intended to be with the ‘Big Three.’ I’m hearing that verses were reworked because Kendrick Lamar did not respond to the feature request.” Drake is not the source of these claims, but Ak assured viewers that he’s gotten his info on good authority.

The “First Person Shooter” theory has actually been circulating online since the release of Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss on April 30. On the third verse of the song, the Compton rapper references a feature request that Drake made. “Surprised you wanted that feature request,” he spit. “You know that we got some sh*t to address.” It was widely assumed that “First Person Shooter” was the feature in question, but Akademiks has now confirmed it.

DJ Akademiks had a busy May 2. In addition to sharing the “First Person Shooter” story, the internet personality shot down a rumor that Drake was going to drop a diss on May 3. DJHed claimed that the Toronto rapper was going to clap back at Lamar mere days after “Euphoria” released, but Ak shut the hype train down. He hopped on the phone with Kai Cenat and told him there was no diss coming that soon. “Drake’s not dropping tonight,” he stated. “He’s dropping soon though, but not tonight.”

Following an incredible debut album, Hypnos, in 2022, Ravyn Lenae is back, and better than ever. Tonight (May 3), the R&B hitmaker has announced her new album, Bird’s Eye, set for release this summer. Ahead of the album, Lena has shared two new songs — “Love Is Blind” and “Love Me Not.”

On “Love Is Blind,” Lenae reflects on a previous relationship. Though she feels some regret, she has taken away valuable lessons.

Meanwhile, “Love Me Not” features Lenae dreading the idea of depending on a lover. For this particular era, Lenae is stepping her artistry up a notch, as this particular song is accompanied by a video directed by Lenae herself. The video takes us through a day in Lenae’s life, as she can’t seem to get a guy off of her mind.

Bird’s Eye signifies returning to a place of self-trust and unbending intuition while acknowledging the paths and turns I’ve taken to get here,” Lenae said in a statement. “Revisiting the most basic parts of my identity has allowed me to fully embrace them and be proud of where I’m going.”

Channel Tres And Barney Bones Look Back On Time In ‘Berghain’ On Their New Single

Channel Tres has the summer on lock. This week, the multitalented electronic musician announced his upcoming major label debut album, Head Rush. Tonight (May 3), he has shared the album’s lead single, “Berghain.”

The song features fellow South LA artist Barney Bones, and takes inspiration from Tres‘ travels. Over a zippy, hypnotic track, Tres and Bones imagine a utopia populated by the weirdos and misfits who make life worth living. In this magical world, the dance floor is the sanctuary and music is the heartbeat.

As a touring artist, Channel Tres has seen so many beautiful parts of the world. But Berghain holds a special place in his heart.

“It’s about the time I played Berghain and how the culture in that environment made me feel, I didn’t feel weird anymore,” said Tres in a statment. “Everyone’s the same, the goal for everyone in that place is to enjoy themselves and be free, and music played a pivotal role in that. It was the main thing for me and I wanted to document that experience I had there through music so that I always have that memory in my life. So I can feel that memory while I’m performing and relive that experience.”

You can listen to “Berghain” above.

Head Rush is out 6/14 via RCA. Find more information here.

Coco Jones Struggles To Break A Toxic Love Cycle On Her New Single ‘Here We Go (Uh Oh)’

Coco Jones is gearing up for an exciting new era. Last year, she gained a major breakthrough with her hit single, “ICU” from her mixtape, What I Didn’t Tell You. Now, her full-length debut album is on the way. Tonight (May 3), Jones has released her new single, “Here We Go (Uh Oh).”

On her new single, Jones can’t help but fall in love with the same person over and over again. Unfortunately, she knows this love isn’t good for her, and while she tries to move on with someone else, this proves to be easier said than done.

“I know when we said, ‘Goodbye,’ you ain’t mean no goodbye / Hеre we go, uh-oh / I know when you gеt to likin’ my pictures it’s time / Here we go, uh-oh / Over and over, and over we go / Older and older, and older, but so / Soon as I finally meet someone else that I like / Here we go, uh-oh,” sings Jones on the song’s chorus.

The song features a sample of Lenny Williams’ “Cause I Love You,” with Jones breathing into it new life, giving her own personal touch to a painfully relatable cycle.

“It’s the impossible mission to move on from this chapter,” said Jones of the song in a statement, “from this person, from this cycle.”

You can listen to “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” above.
