The-Dream Claims Rape Allegations Are Untrue And Defamatory

The music world has been the focus of grave accusations over the last few months. Diddy has been accused of assaulting multiple women, beyond the harrowing footage of him attacking Cassie. Kanye West has been sued for sexual harassing a former employee. And now, The-Dream is being accused of similarly horrible actions. Chanaaz Mangroe, better known as Channii Monroe, accused the R&B singer of assault and sexually violent encounters of an extended period of time.

Mangroe’s allegations were made public on June 4, and within hours, The-Dream issued a response. In a statement obtained by the New York Times, the R&B singer claimed that none of what Mangroe said was true. “These claims are untrue and defamatory,” the statement read. The-Dream also said he was firmly against harassment. “I oppose all forms of harassment,” he added. “I have always strived to help people realize their career goals. As someone committed to making a positive impact on my fellow artists and the world at large, I am deeply offended and saddened by these accusations.”

The-Dream Has Previously Been Accused Of Assault

The-Dream’s comments have not deterred his accuser. Mangroe maintains that the R&B singer raped her on more than one occasion. She also claimed that The-Dream would “frequently” strangle her during “violent sex” that became so intense during one instance “she almost lost consciousness.” Other details paint a picture of The-Dream as a manipulative person who controlled every single aspect of Mangroe’s life. According to People Magazine, Mangroe is naming The-Dream and his label, Epic Records, in a suit for enabling “depraved behavior.”

The-Dream has a history of violent behavior. The singer was arrested for a domestic violence incident in 2013, but his girlfriend refused to press charges. He was arrested the following year on charges of felony assault and strangulation against the same girlfriend, Lydia Nam. The girlfriend claimed that The-Dream “punched, kicked, and strangled her” while she was pregnant with their son. She reported the incident seven months later, and the singer turned himself in for questioning. The charges against him were ultimately dismissed due to a lack of evidence.

In one of these instances, she claimed that it took place in a movie theater.

“​​What Dream did to me made it impossible to live the life I envisioned for myself and pursue my goals as a singer and songwriter,” Ms. Mangroe said in a statement. “Ultimately, my silence has become too painful, and I realized that I need to tell my story to heal. I hope that doing so will also help others and prevent future horrific abuse.”

Mangroe’s lawsuit also implicates Epic Records, a Sony subsidiary, for their inaction when she reported the abuse. She claims an executive dismissed her concerns and suggested she reconcile with Gesteelde-Diamant. By 2016, she alleges that Epic dropped her due to his influence. The lawsuit leverages the Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act. This permits older cases of sexual assault to be prosecuted beyond the standard limitations period.

The Alchemist says he didn’t have any issues with Kendrick Lamar using one of his beats for “Meet The Grahams.” The iconic producer discussed his reaction to the diss track during a Q&A with fans on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. When asked about the song, he downplayed the seriousness of the situation with jokes about Cap’n Crunch cereal.

“Questlove made it known that you weren’t aware Kendrick was going to use your beat for meet the graham’s. Did it bother you that Kendrick did that?” one fan asked. “Was it okay with you that Questlove gave us that information?” In response, Alchemist explained: “Nah but I was extremely bothered and downright livid when I realized that all these years I did not know that Cap’n Crunch’s full name is Horatio Magellan Crunch.”

Kaytranada And Channel Tres ‘Drip Sweat’ All Over The Dance Floor In Their Pulsating New ‘Timeless’ Single

The video for “Drip Sweat,” the new single by Kaytranada and Compton house-hop rapper Channel Tres from Kaytra’s upcoming album Timeless, is slippery, steamy, and wet. The two dance music mainstays throw a packed rave in a building’s lobby, complete with strobe lights and a blasting sprinkler system. Think of the rave scene from Blade with more Black people and less blood.

The song is the second single from Timeless after Kaytranada revealed that the previously released “Lover/Friend” with Rochelle Jordan and “Stuntin” also with Channel Tres, were the introductory singles for the album cycle. The album is Kaytra’s first since 2019’s Bubba, which won a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album and a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for its single “10%.”

Although Kaytranada hasn’t released a solo album in five years, he maintained a presence in the limelight thanks to his collaborations with IDK (Simple) and Aminé (Kaytraminé). He also produced underground hits for R&B stars like Anderson .Paak, Joyce Wrice, Ravyn Lenae, and Victoria Monét, playing at last year’s Coachella with a slew of guest stars, including Kali Uchis. This August, he’ll be one of the performers at Aminé’s inaugural festival, The Best Day Ever.

Kanye West Fans Left Stunned After Multiple Tracks Release To His YouTube Account Inexplicably

Kanye West is always dealing with some sort of issue, regardless of if it was caused by him or someone else. Currently, his accuser and former Yeezy employee, Lauren Pisciotta, is looking to sue the controversial mogul for sexual assault/harassment. Currently, no one really knows who is at fault here, as Ye has recently announced that he is suing Lauren back. He and his legal claim she was trying to persuade him to commit sexual acts, while also blackmailing him for millions. This all went down just moments ago, as it appears that 13 total tracks were leaked on to the official page of Mr. West. The capsule includes what could be unfinished demos and older sounding tracks.
