Tony Yayo appeared on Drink Champs in July, where he revealed that back in 2005, DJ Khaled refused to shake his hand. According to him, his refusal stemmed from the fact that G-Unit was beefing with Fat Joe, who Khaled was friends with. “I had ‘[So] Seductive’ dropping,” he explained. “I didn’t know nothing about the music business. We beefing with [Fat Joe]… You f*ck with Fat Joe, Khaled ain’t fucking with you.”

He recalled linking up with DJ Khaled in Miami in attempts to promote his record, but knowing that it wasn’t a good idea from the start. “So we go up there,” he began. “I told these n***as, ‘Yo, don’t take me to DJ Khaled. Fat Joe, that’s his man. He damn near Terror Squad.‘” When he got there, he said that DJ Khaled pretended to shake his and before telling him, “f*ck outta here.”

At a recent show, Uzi took a timeout to send their love and appreciation to their committed and patient fans. Uproxx, came across a Twitter video from the concert on which the Philadelphia rapper was extremely blessed to have great fans. “As long as I got respect from y’all, that’s all that matters. As of writing this article, it’s unclear whether this will result in any legal action, but it seems like it wrapped up relatively quickly.

Unfortunately for the St. Louis MC, her sexuality and artistic identity lead many to unrightfully criticize her- or take advantage of her, in this instance. For example, fans blasted her for posing for pictures with younger fans, despite the fact that she can’t control who connects with her music for whatever reason. Even with all these pressures, biases, and misogynistic treatment, Sexyy Red is brushing it all off as her career continues to climb. ASAP Rocky Allegedly Told ASAP Relli ‘I’ll Kill You’ Before Shooting Him In The Hand, According To Relli’s Court Testimony

ASAP Rocky went to court yesterday for a preliminary hearing in the shooting case against him. There, ASAP Relli, the former ASAP Mob member who accused Rocky of shooting him in the hand in 2021, testified that Rocky told him, “I’ll kill you right now,” before opening fire four times.

Rocky had already pled not guilty to two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm after being arrested in April 2022 at LAX while returning from Barbados on a trip with his girlfriend (rumored wife) Rihanna.

Police also raided Rocky’s home in Los Angeles, reportedly finding a gun, but not the one used in the alleged shooting. Police also said they secured footage of the shooting, providing enough evidence to officially charge the rapper for assault.

Relli later sued Rocky and his lawyer Joe Tacopina for defamation, arguing that statements Tacopina made about Relli “trying to get money from Rocky” constituted slander.

According to TMZ, Tacopina cross-examined Relli, trying to expose inconsistencies in his story and questioning why he delayed going to law enforcement. Relli insisted that he only waited to report the alleged attack for fear of retaliation. He also denied that the report was a money play, while detailing how exactly the ASAP Mob members fell out.

Nicki Minaj is on the new Vogue cover for December 2023, where she discussed various aspects of her career and personal life. One of these moments was about a time when Minaj had been living in Atlanta to work on her career. After experiencing menstrual cramps, she was prescribed Percocet — but the way she was taking it soon went beyond using it for the standard pain.

“No one told me that this was a narcotic and this was addictive,” Minaj said. “Luckily I was able to ground myself. But — once an addict, always an addict. I feel like if you’ve ever experienced addiction to anything, which I have, you always have to think twice and three times about the choices that you make.”

Minaj pointed out that many big stars struggled with self-medication as a way of escapism. She also reflected on the history of addiction in her own family, as her late father struggled with hard substance abuse — and that her mom didn’t really understand it.

“I think about watching my father go back and forth, and I just wish that at the time I understood that he wasn’t doing it because he wanted to,” she said. “I thought that he was making a conscious effort to be addicted to a drug that would have him steal his children’s video games and sell them for money. Think about that — who would make a conscious effort to do that? Now I realize, those people weren’t making those choices because they wanted to hurt their family. Addiction took over their bodies and their lives. They were victims too.”

Which Young Thug Lyrics Are Being Used In Court?

The trial for the racketeering case against Young Thug still has yet to begin in earnest but today, the rapper got some bad news. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville ruled this morning that his lyrics could be used against him in court despite the controversy surrounding that aspect of the case.

While the specific lyrics in question have always been public record thanks to the 88-page indictment against Thug and YSL, prosecutors read those lyrics aloud in court, arguing that they “prove the nature of YSL as a racketeering enterprise [and] the expectations of YSL as a criminal street gang,” according to Assistant District Attorney Mike Carlson.

The lyrics being used against Thug include snippets from songs like 2018’s “Just How It Is”:

“I just beat a murder rap, paid my lawyer 30 for that”

From 2014’s “Eww”:

“Honestly truth be told YSL won’t fold / Pick his ass off from the balcony/ YSL wipe a n**** nose”

From “Bad Boy” with Juice WRLD:

“I shot at his mommy, now he no longer mention me”

“Take It To Trial” with Gunna:

“I rep my life for real/For slimes you know I kill”

Critics of the case say that it discounts the probability of artistic license, that Young Thug is like an actor playing a role in songs like these, or speaking from perspectives not his own. Furthermore, as HipHopDX notes, some of the lyrics are incorrect or misattributed, pointing to shoddy casework on the part of the DA.

Young Thug is accused of being the head of a criminal street gang, YSL, which is collectively accused of crimes including murder, armed robbery, and more. The controversy surrounding the use of lyrics as evidence prompted an array of bills to limit such use, including one federal bill still in Congress. States such as California have already passed their own versions.

She explains, or rather tries to explain why that is his nickname. “I’ve always been a nickname person. I give everyone I love these nicknames, normally. He actually had a couple nicknames. His first nickname while he was in my stomach was ‘Bubba.’ When he came out, it just transformed into ‘Papa Bear.’ I can’t explain it, but when I look at him that’s what I thought.” Ultimately, she once again declines to reveal her son’s name to the public. Young Thug & YSL’s RICO Trial Will Accept Rap Lyrics As Evidence, Judge Decides

It’s a crucial day for the RICO case against Young Thug and his YSL collective, as Judge Glanville made a pivotal decision in Fulton County on Thursday (November 9) according to WSB-TV’s Channel 2. Moreover, he ruled that prosecutors will be able to use rap lyrics as evidence against Young Stoner Life in court during this trial’s proceedings. However, the judge clarified that this is a conditional admittance for attorneys, as they must still lay a foundation in order to justify their use of any of these seventeen sets of lyrics. While this is a promising caveat, it’s also a very vague one, which puts these artists’ right to free artistic speech in jeopardy.

Brian Steel, Young Thug’s attorney, argued as much, vehemently opposing the use of these lyrics. On the other hand, the prosecution believes that the connective tissue between them and real crimes they indicted these individuals with is too great to ignore. “Your honor, someone can look at that indictment and say one thing’s for sure: that’s not fantasy,” prosecutor Mike Carlson expressed in court. “People are dead and murdered and a gang exists.” Now, it seems like it’s up to Glanville to determine their worth, as well as the recently seated jury.

What’s more is that this is an interesting point on the prosecution’s board that comes just days after they had one taken off. Furthermore, Judge Glanville expressed disappointment in these attorneys withholding evidence and their general plan for the court. As such, it looks like Young Thug and YSL’s fate still hasn’t sealed, and it will likely be a very complex case to navigate. Still, the ruling on these lyrics is understandably disappointing: in an industry where artists are pushed to present the worst and most profitable version of themselves in exploitative ways that glorify violence and struggle, taking this collective’s success away due to the artistry they express and have been rewarded for expressing is an egregiously unfair and inhumane double standard.

Meanwhile, that’s not to say that we should ignore actual evidence of crime in the face of this battle. But this is something that will deeply affect not just this trial, but many more rap cases to come. As such, we’ll see if this injustice is what ends up sinking the ship, or if the system can’t find enough evidence to lock them up.
