Ice Spice Hilarious Reveals She Is Her Own Most Listened To Artist Of 2023

It’s officially Spotify Wrapped season, the time of year when fans and artists share details on how they streamed music on the platform this year. For fans, it’s an opportunity to show off which songs and artists spoke to them the most this year. As a special treat for 2023 wrapped, Spotify got dozens of popular artists to record messages thanking their biggest fans. But those artists themselves also get Wrapped statistics telling them how much their music was streamed.

It’s pretty common to see major artists sharing the numbers they achieved online. But it’s a lot rarer that artists give an actual sneak peek of the music they were listening to themselves. Enter Ice Spice, who was more than comfortable sharing her listening habits. Among her favorite artists this year were Lana Del Rey, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kali Uchis. But it was her most listened-to artist that had fans cracking up. Her number-one artist of 2023 was none other than herself. Check out her full wrapped post below.

Ice Spice Loved Her Own Music This Year

In addition to your top 5 artists, Spotify Wrapped also shares your 5 most listened-to songs, which Spice also shared with fans. That was even funnier as they were all five tracks that she appears on. “Boys a liar Pt. 2,” “In Ha Mood,” “Princess Diana,” “Munch,” and “Deli” round out her top 5 list.

Ice Spice found herself in the midst of a strange online controversy earlier this year. A video went viral on Twitter of her being handed a drink by a fan and instead passing it off to one of her friends. Her fans online certainly understood why she wouldn’t take a drink from a stranger. But many wondered why, if she was suspicious of the drink, she would hand it off to one of her friends for them to drink. What do you think of Ice Spice being her own most listened-to artist on Spotify this year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Tyla Wants The Party To Go ‘On And On’ During Her Chill Live Performance On ‘A Colors Show’

Tyla is continuing her busy year by making an appearance on A Colors Show to perform a unique spin of her sing “On And On.” With just a dangling microphone in the room, it gives her vocals a crisp, crystal-clear sound that shows off just how talented she is.

“Let’s take it back in time / Party like it’s ’95,” she sings in the pre-chorus, making it a chill take on the carefree anthem. “I just wanna dance all night / You know that I like it like that / Let’s take it back in time / When the Parties were like ’95 / I just wanna dance all night / Tell them, ‘Turn the lights out.’”

The track has been rumored to be included on her forthcoming self-titled debut album, which has been suspected to be dropping in early 2024. At the very least, she has new music coming. Tyla made waves through the success of her song, “Water.”

“As soon as I heard ‘Water,’ I said, ‘It’s over.’ We have the song,” she told Rolling Stone about the experience of appreciating her song on first listen. “I would describe ‘Water’ as the song of the year… it’s the sound of Africa. It’s not only for Africa, but it’s for the world… It’s literally me [bringing] Africa to the world.”

Kaytranada Ends His Prolifically Collaborative Year With Excellent Singles Featuring Rochelle Jones And Channel Tres

Kaytranada November 2023
Hannah Sider

For Kaytranada, this year has more or less been defined by collaboration. He even welcomed a few familiar faces to join his Coachella set. This summer, he and Aminé joined forces to drop their Kaytraminé album, which Uproxx’s Aaron Williams dubbed “not just the album of the summer, but the literal soundtrack of it,” and subsequently toured in support of it. And if that weren’t enough, Kaytranada produced on Victoria Monét’s Grammy-nominated album, Jaguar II.

Kaytranada had no other choice but to punctuate 2023 with a collaborative single. The good news is that he decided to offer up a double single. Even better news? A full-length Kaytranada album is expected to drop in 2024, as per press release.

On Thursday morning, November 30, Kaytranada shared “Lover/Friend” featuring Rochelle Jordan, and the B-side is “Stuntin” featuring Channel Tres. Each song also has an instrumental version available to enjoy.

“Lover/Friend” is as scintillating as its title suggests — a classic will-they-won’t-they elevated by unique production and gorgeous vocals. The press release correctly describes it as “quintessential Kaytranada, providing the producer’s trademark bounce with enough space to let Jordan’s vocals shine.”

“Stuntin” is also bouncy but exists on a totally different wave, as Tres’ sultry voice delivers a confident message in an assured but hushed tone.

[I was] taking 10 to 12 pills every single day. I’m just doing everything natural, all types of herbs, sea moss, teas.”

Lil Yachty Clarifies Comments On The State Of Hip-Hop

Lil Yachty caught a lot of flack recently when he came out and said that hip-hop was in a terrible place. Overall, these were comments that got a lot of people upset and understandably so. Yachty has been critical of the genre before, and a lot of people don’t appreciate the things he has said. Furthermore, some have noticed that in certain areas, he has abandoned the genre for psychedelic rock. Of course, this would be a bit of a misinterpretation of things as Yachty still puts out hip-hop tracks in abundance.

That said, with all of the heat on the artist right now, he has decided to come out and explain himself a little bit. He did so on his new podcast called A Safe Place. Overall, this has proven to be a very successful podcast that has allowed fans to get a sense of Yachty’s thoughts on a number of subjects. As it pertains to his recent comments about hip-hop, he decided to look at things from a numbers perspective. Below, you can see him explain how numbers are why hip-hop is where it is right now.

Lil Yachty Speaks

Essentially, Yachty is looking at the fact that hip-hop is no longer the number-one genre in the world. Instead, country and Latin music have surpassed it in terms of sales. This comes after a decade of chart dominance for the genre. Yachty even referenced the time Ebro came out and said that record execs were giving hip-hop artists less money. Essentially, Yachty is looking at this purely from a budget and numbers perspective. As for the art itself, Yachty does believe some have gotten too comfortable with their sound which has led to fatigue from listeners.

Let us know what you think of Yachty’s take, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always be sure to keep you informed.

Boosie Badazz Opens Up On Two Recent Lawsuits Filed Against Him

Boosie Badazz appears on Vlad TV so often that he sometimes runs out of things to reveal. But this week he shared that he had recently been hit with two new lawsuits within the span of a week. “I hate this court sh*t. I done been sued two times this week,” Boosie begins. The first suit was over a wrongful death that occurred near the music video shoot for Boosie and Baby Soulja’s 2017 song “Dirty.”

“When I got [to the video shoot] it had already happened down the street, or whatever. Why the hell are you suing me? ‘I didn’t provide security.’ I wasn’t part of the video. I was just coming to the video to do my part and leave,” Boosie explained. The second lawsuit deals with a notorious fight that broke out during a performance on the Legendz Of The Streetz Tour in 2021. “They got another dude suing me for the State Farm thing. They say he was just a bystander there,” Boosie claims. Additionally he was famously removed from the tour in the wake of the fight. Check out the full interview explanation below.

Boosie Badazz Facing New Lawsuits

Even though Boosie claims to hate the legal system, he’s also making use of it himself. He’s threatened to sue numerous artists online recently for sampling and interpolating his songs. This includes rappers like YG and Kodak Black, but one rapper in particular seems to have really upset him and it sparked a substantial beef.

Subsequently, after Boosie threatened to sue Rod Wave for sampling one of his songs without asking, Wave hit back hard. He didn’t hold anything back in a response rant aimed at Boosie posted online. Just earlier this week Boosie once again claimed that he was going forward with a lawsuit against Wave and it was “too late” to change his mind. What do you think of Boosie facing two new lawsuits this week alone? Let us know in the comment section below.
