A Helmet-Wearing Ari Lennox Is Prepared For Any And All Objects Concertgoers Attempt To Throw Onstage

Entertainers have a simple holiday wish, stop throwing sh*t onstage during performances. Just when you thought the gross trend had died off, news of its resurgence flooded social media.

While in Los Angeles for Rod Wave’s Nostalgia Tour stop on November 29, “Waste My Time” singer Ari Lennox fell victim to an attendee’s desperate and unacceptable cry for attention. Lennox was nearly hit with what appeared to be a water bottle hurled by a concertgoer. Lennox verbally ripped the fan a new one as the crowd cheered her on. Yesterday (November 30), for the tour’s next stop in Oakland, Lennox sported a helmet just in case someone tried the stunt again.

In a video shared by a fan, Lennox fiercely swayed onstage to her song “Shea Butter,” she temporarily rethought things. “Hey, Oakland. My name is Ari Lennox… I don’t know should I keep this thing on or what,” Lennox asked the crowd.

Lennox is known for her sharp sense of humor, but given the injuries sustained by Bebe Rexha in June, when she was hit in the eye with a phone, musicians aren’t willing to take any chances. Latto was nearly willing to grapple with one fan at Rolling Loud Germany who threw something at her. Hell, Cardi B took it a step further by throwing her microphone at a concertgoer who splashed her with water.

Fortunately for Lennox, the show went off without any new incidents.

Michael Blackson Thinks Beyonce’s Blonde Hair Is For Jay-Z

Beyonce debuted a new look at the premiere of her Renaissance concert film this week, turning heads with her long icy blonde locks. She stepped out in a shimmering silver gown, perfectly in line with the theme of her world tour. Unfortunately, however, the look has managed to spark some controversy. Some social media users are theorizing that Bey snatched her style from Kim Kardashian. A few critics are even accusing her of whitening her skin for the premiere. TMZ recently caught up with Michael Blackson at an airport to ask him his thoughts on the debacle, and he’s not buying critics’ claims.

According to him, Beyonce probably only switched over to platinum so Jay-Z can feel like he’s mixing things up in the bedroom. He went on to say that every man is looking for variety when it comes to his sex life, so the songstress is simply offering him “another woman.” He added that he’s sure that Beyonce is proud of her Blackness, brushing off any skin-bleaching rumors.

Michael Blackson Weighs In On Beyonce’s Blonde Hair

Michael Blackson isn’t the only one coming to Bey’s defense over her premiere look, however. Earlier this week, her mother Tina Knowles responded to the skin-bleaching allegations, calling them nothing short of “disappointing.” She further noted how her look matched the premiere, and how a hair color doesn’t change a person’s racial identity.

“She does a film, called the renaissance, where the whole theme is silver with silver hair, a silver carpet, and suggested silver attire and you bozos decide that she’s trying to be a white woman and is bleaching her skin?” she wrote. “Every time she does something that she works her a** off for and is a statement of her work ethic , talent and resilience. Here you sad little haters come out the woodwork.” What do you think of Michael Blackson’s theory that Beyonce changed up her hair for Jay-Z? Do you agree with him? Here Are 10 Of Beyoncé’s Best Rapping Songs

beyonce

Beyoncé’s new movie Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé is out and with it, came a new song, “My House,” which appears in the credits. “My House” finds Beyoncé in “full rap mogul” mode, barking aggressive, boastful rhymes asserting her dominance. While it’s a bit of a departure from many of the dance-centric cuts that appear on her latest album Renaissance, it’s not the first time Beyoncé has shown off some impressive rap skills in addition to her always awesome singing abilities.

Here are 10 more of Beyoncé’s best rapping songs.

“No, No, No Part 2” With Destiny’s Child (1998)

While there are some who wouldn’t consider Beyoncé’s early work with Destiny’s Child to exemplify traditional rap structure, Beyoncé’s playful blending of R&B vocals with hip-hop delivery could be seen even then. It also turned out to be prescient; these days, the line between rap and R&B is blurrier than ever thanks to artists like Drake and those he’s inspired. Just look at SZA’s “Kill Bill” and “Snooze” — without Beyoncé, who’s to say there’d have been space for that style to flourish on the charts the way it has this year?

“Temptation” With Destiny’s Child (1999)

Although “Say My Name” is often considered the moment when Beyoncé perfected her rap-like, staccato singing style, another song from the same album, The Writing’s On The Wall, features a much more direct rapping delivery. hip-hop history has a proud tradition of storytelling tracks running through it, and with a bit of contextualization, “Temptations” fits right in.

“If Looks Could Kill You’d Be Dead”

Okay, go with me here. In 2001, MTV launched a made-for-TV film called Carmen: A Hip Hopera. It is exactly what it sounds like: a rap-ified version of the 1875 opera Carmen (or at least of Carmen Jones a 1954 musical loosely based on it). As the titular character, Beyoncé has two jobs: Looking gorgeous enough to prompt half the male cast to try to kill each other (check), and keep up with Mos Def, which she does admirably on her introductory number.

“Diva” (2008)

In 2008, producer Bangladesh had two of the biggest bangers of the year: “A Milli” by Lil Wayne and “Diva” by Beyoncé. While they employ a similar production style, the two performers used completely different rap approaches. Rather than using one to discount the other, the correct way to read this is acknowledging
just how versatile rap can be at its best.

“Partition” (2013)

On this standout from Beyoncé’s self-titled album, she leans fully into a swaggy rapper persona — the one she’ll end up using right to today. Her signature Houston drawl elongates the rhymes, harkening back to one of her home state’s most iconic bar-spitters, Pimp C.

“7/11” (2014)

“But she’s just repeating the same words over and over!” you may protest.

Ahem… No one questioned this when Lil Uzi Vert did it on “Do What I Want” (sure, some folks hated it but no one tried to take the rapper title away from him). If you think about it this way, Beyoncé kind of opened the door for Playboi Cart. He should send her a note.

“Feeling Myself” Nicki Minaj Feat. Beyoncé (2014)

On one of the first songs where Beyoncé went bar-for-bar with an actual rap peer, she not only kept up with Ms. Minaj — she darn near stole the whole show.

“Top Off” DJ Khaled Feat. Jay-Z, Future & Beyoncé (2018)

Beyoncé had collaborated with her husband Jay-Z a number of times in the prior decade but on DJ Khaled’s Father Of Asahd, for the first time, she endeavored to actually out-rap him. Whether or not she accomplished that mission is up to the listener’s taste but it wouldn’t be too hard to argue that that’s exactly what she did.

“Apesh*t” As The Carters With Jay-Z(2018)

Apparently, Bey and Jay had so much fun trading bars on “Top Off,” they decided to do it for a whole project on their group album Everything Is Love as The Carters. Once again, she arguably gets the best of him on the lead single, rattling off some of the most memorable punchlines on track.

“Savage (Remix)” With Megan Thee Stallion (2020)

In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Beyoncé almost single-handedly gave fans the blueprint for survival, making OnlyFans a household name in the process.

GloRilla Provides Shocking Explanation For Unzipped Pants

Earlier this week, GloRilla took to Twitter to address fans who had questions about one of her fashion choices. In the past, the 24-year-old rapper has been spotted rocking pants with the fly noticeably unzipped. Some fans felt that it allowed her to flaunt more of her figure, while others thought it gave her fits an edgy touch. Though both statements are true, GloRilla’s own explanation for the statement isn’t necessarily what followers expected.

Instead of a simple fashion choice, GloRilla’s unzipped pants are actually the hitmaker’s attempt to avoid any unwanted injuries. She told fans that she worries about her female anatomy getting caught in the zipper due to its size. According to her, she isn’t willing to take any chances.

GloRilla Claims Her “Tw*t Too Phat”

“Mfs be so worried bout me & my pants,” she explained. “Ion zip em up cause my tw*t too phat & ion wanna zip it up by mistake damn!” It seems as though her reasoning makes perfect sense. While fairly crude, GloRilla’s response certainly managed to clear up any previous confusion. Obviously, the hitmaker doesn’t shy away from saying exactly what she’s thinking, which her loyal fanbase has grown to appreciate. Her outspokenness can get her into some trouble on occasion, however. Last month, for example, she made a joke on Twitter that stirred up quite a bit of controversy.

In October, the “Cha Cha Cha” performer found herself being compared to other female MCs like Sexyy Red getting pregnant. She responded to fans asking her if she’s “next,” clarifying that she’s not looking to have children any time soon. “Stop asking am I next?” she wrote. “Y’all know what I do. I damn near gotta membership at dat place.” The insinuation that she has such frequent abortions that she needs a membership ruffled some feathers, though many fans noted that it was only a joke. What do you think of GloRilla’s explanation for choosing not to zip her pants? Are you surprised by her reasoning? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Doja Cat Apologizes For Recent Concert Says She Was “Not Happy With Her Energy”

Doja Cat is no stranger to facing criticism online. She famously picked a fight with her own fans earlier this year. The reason for the beef was her disapproval of the name her stans picked for themselves “Kittenz.” The spat resulted in her losing hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers though she didn’t seem to particularly care. That was only the start of her controversies this year though.

She released her new album Scarlet back in September and the entire era was soaked in controversy. She was repeatedly bothered by fans and critics for her continued embrace of satanic and demonic imagery. The peak of which came on the fittingly titled single Demons which saw her indulging in a disturbing costume for the accompanying music video. Despite the controversy bothering many she continued to double down pretty much every time anyone took issue with whatever she was doing. But the newest piece of criticism directed at Doja is actually coming from herself.

Doja Cat Critiques Her Own Performance

Last month, Doja Cat took off on the Scarlet tour supporting her new album. Alongside Ice Spice and Doechii, she’s been dazzling arenas across the US for weeks now. But one recent performance wasn’t up to her own standards for herself. “I’m so f*ckin sorry. New Jersey I don’t know what the f*ck that was. I’m really not happy with my energy tonight,” she said on her Instagram story overnight. The show in question took place overnight at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. It’s the 17th show on The Scarlet Tour so far.

It’s unclear if there was any specific reason why she felt her performance wasn’t up to par. In the comments, fans point out that she’s sounded like she’s sick during some recent shows. Despite that, fan videos show her giving her full effort and many online are clearly appreciating it. What do you think of Doja Cat’s critiques of her own performance at a recent show? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kid Cudi’s Cleveland Roots Disputed By Rich Paul

Rich Paul took aim at Kid Cudi’s Cleveland heritage during a recent appearance on Jake Paul’s podcast. “Do I think how Cudi treats Cleveland is weird? No, because I don’t think Cleveland ever embraced Cudi, unfortunately. Because you can’t expect somebody to treat a situation any different to how they were treated,” Paul said.

Despite Paul’s comments, Cudi has also repped his home city. His debut mixtape in 2008 featured the track “Cleveland is the Reason”. Furthermore, the release featured several other references to the Ohio hub. He also launched a Cleveland-based music festival, Man Moon’s Landing, last year. “It was dope. I was exposed to a lot of different things. It was like a suburb and the hood was a couple blocks away. There was a bar at the end of my street my dad used to take me to. He would talk to his buddies and have a beer and I would sit there and eat jellybeans. I was like 5 or 6. I came to New York solely to do music. The response was never what I wanted [in Cleveland] because the Cleveland audience only wanted to hear that street sh-t,” Cudi said in 2008.

Jake Paul Also Trashes Kid Cudi

Elsewhere in the podcast episode, Paul also took shots at Cudi. Paul’s grievance surrounded Cudi’s appearance fees. Paul claimed that he had reached out to Cudi about performing at his 2021 fight against Tyron Woodley. However, Cudi’s fee was just too much for Paul to afford. “I tried to get him to perform at the Tyron Woodley fight just before I came out and he asked for like, an astronomical fee that was like, ‘F-ck you.’ I get it, but it’s like, this was like some sh-t to tap in back with the city. Like, first event back from Covid,” Paul explained.

Furthermore, Paul argued that he gave discounts on his appearance fees when the City of Cleveland was involved. With Cudi out, Paul instead made his ring entrance to recordings of Machine Gun Kelly‘s “Till I Die” and Jeezy‘s “Put On”. Paul would go on to beat the retired MMA fighter via split decision. Cudi has not yet responded to the allegations.

Who Does Ice-T Play On ‘Rick And Morty?’

Okay, sorry for the fake out. Although the video above and the image for this post both depict a Rick And Morty character named Water-T, this character is not actually played by 22-year Law & Order veteran Ice-T, on whom it is based. The character appeared in the season two episode “Get Schwifty,” where it was revealed that Ice-T is actually an alien recruited by the titular adventurers to help save the Earth from the talent-obsessed Cromulons. At the end of the episode, he returns to his home planet, where his original form is restored — hence, “Water-T.”

However, contrary to popular belief, the character was not voiced by the “6 In The Mornin’” rapper; instead the series’ co-creator Dan Harmon did a vocal impression. But, thanks to an upcoming episode, Ice-T will finally voice a character on the show, albeit a different one from the same alphabet-based planet. This Sunday’s episode (December 3), titled “Rise Of The Numericons: The Movie,” returns to Alphabetrium, with Ice-T voicing Magma-Q. This brings the rapper’s relationship with the show full circle after he initially voiced his approval for his “guest role” on Twitter in 2015.

This isn’t the first time the show has secured a guest role for one of Dan Harmon’s favorite rappers. In 2017, Logic appeared in an episode as himself, while the next year, the show’s stars appeared in the video for Run The Jewels’ song “Oh Mama.” Noise-rap group Clipping. appeared on a soundtrack for Rick And Morty, contributing the song “Stab Him In The Throat.”

What’s The Runtime For Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Movie

beyonce
Getty Image

Are you ready for the renaissance? If you’re not, you will want to steer clear of all AMC theatres. Today (December 1), Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé hit the cineplex in all its glory, and the Beyhive will surely attend in droves.

From the massive final setlist of songs, breakouts showcasing Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour robust featured dancers, the Mute Challenge spotlight, and plenty of cameos of Blue Ivy Carter (a.k.a. her mother’s unofficial manager), you’re going to want to make sure your commemorative popcorn bucket is filled to the brim. The Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé’s runtime is a doozy. According to the details listed on the AMC Theatres webpage, dedicated to the concert movie, the official runtime is 2 hours and 48 minutes.

Before you rethink getting a ticket to the film, Oscar-nominated director Ava DuVernay took to Instagram to praise the visual. “The woman is a director in every sense of the word and beyond,” she wrote. “In the film, the performances are spectacular for their entertainment value but also as a gorgeous spectacle of craft – from the art direction to the costumes to the editing and lighting design. It’s stunning.”

So, as DuVerany says, it is surely worth the nearly three-hour experience in your local theater.
