DaBaby Reaches Settlement In Sucker Punch Lawsuit

DaBaby can finally put his 2020 scuffle to rest, as he officially settled a lawsuit against him according to court documents reportedly obtained by TMZ on Friday (September 27). For those unaware, homeowner Gary Pagar sued him due to a 2020 incident at a music video shoot at Pagar’s house for the Stunna 4 Vegas track “Play You Lay.” What happened was that the rapper allegedly “sucker-punched” Pagar after he complained about music video shoot regulations, eventually bringing about this civil case. Both parties reached a global settlement on all claims and asked the courts to remove future conference dates in order to sign the settlement into existence.

What’s more is that DaBaby has a pretty good excuse to celebrate this settlement, as he just dropped his first project in two years. HOW TF IS THIS A MIXTAPE? is a pretty ambitious question for a record of this nature, and as you’d expect, it’s filled with his typical style and some more fiery verses. We wonder whether the Charlotte MC has more plans for 2024 as far as career moves or extracurriculars. After all, he’s in a place where he can pretty much do as he pleases.

Elsewhere, DaBaby is making headlines for his brash, prompt, and savage reactions to the whole Diddy scandal. Specifically, he pulled a master troll move for one of his upcoming music videos, which is ironic considering the lawsuit that he just settled. Nevertheless, Baby bought a whole bunch of baby oil for the visual, referencing the alleged hundreds of bottles of the substance that federal officials found while raiding Sean Combs’ Miami and Los Angeles properties. He still hasn’t lost that provocative and jester-like tone, has he?

Meanwhile, DaBaby continues to be confrontational in his music, not just in his social media antics or extracurricular antics. He seemingly launched a diss track against his ex DaniLeigh’s brother over the relative’s lawsuit against him. Maybe 2025 will hold less of these courtroom developments in the 32-year-old’s life and career. But one thing’s for sure: he will respond scathingly whether it’s a trial motion or an Internet jab.

Kendrick Lamar Allegedly Cost Compton Businesses Thousands Of Dollars With His Viral “Not Like Us” Video

Kendrick Lamar is coming under fire from small business owners in his hometown of Compton, after the filming of his music video for “Not Like Us” interrupted their day on June 22. In a new piece for The Los Angeles Times, Corina Pleasant, who runs the soul food restaurant, Alma’s Place, with her mother Alma, revealed that they were given no notice that the area would be overrun for the shoot. In turn, they lost thousands of dollars by staying open, despite being unable to operate.

“It was really disheartening to have the electricity on and gas. I’m just running everything and making no money. I literally was there for nothing, because the little money that I did make, I had to pay my staff with that,” she told the outlet. She also complained that the city didn’t provide her or any other business with enough notice to shut down ahead of time. She estimates her losses amount to between $1,800 to $2,200.

Pleasant went on to explain that she doesn’t have an issue with Lamar filming the video in general, but with the way it was handled. “One day does matter. It does matter when you’re there, and you’re wasting your time. It does matter when your Edison bill is $1,000. It does matter when two weeks’ payroll for three people is nearly $3,000. It does matter when gas is $800. You’re there, all these things are running, and you have nothing to show for it,” she further explained.

Kendrick Lamar Returns To Compton For “Not Like Us”

A spokesperson for the City of Compton addressed the incident in a statement to The Los Angeles Times. They promised the city would identify “opportunities for more efficient film permit communication to our community” going forward. They added: “Businesses in Compton, especially small businesses, are the backbone of our city. We want to continue to keep an open line of communication and do everything we can to support economic growth.” Lamar, however, has not commented on the situation. The update comes after the NFL announced he will be headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kendrick Lamar on HotNewHipHop.

Drake’s “Falling Back” Wife Recalls Her Experience & How She Got Her Role In The Video

Drake has been releasing tons of behind-the-scenes content through his 100gigs.org website. Now, though, a model/actress affiliated with one the artist’s past music videos is giving the public similar access. According to HipHopDX and The Comfortable Pod, Riley Simpson, an LA native, was one of the many wives in the visuals for Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind track, “Falling Back”. She was invited onto The Comfortable Pod recently and she divulged on her experience on set for the five days she was asked to be there. Overall, Simpson seemed to have a great time throughout the process, even calling Drake “the coolest person ever” and saying that he was taking care of everyone involved.

“Like, he was listening. We could be across the room like, ‘I’m hungry,’ and he’d be like, ‘What do you want to eat?’”, Simpson explains. She also went onto mention how they were going to lunches and dinners with full bars every day. However, Simpson also talked about some of the things she witnessed and laid out some of the restrictions while she was with Drake. “You couldn’t pull your phone out. You weren’t allowed to record anything, you weren’t allowed to take pictures in your dress, nothing”, she began.

“And if you did, you would go home. So, there were girls that got sent home on day one”. Moreover, Simpson says that some girls took too much advantage of the bars. “There were girls that would get too f***ed up – sent home”. Furthermore, some were just being straight up disrespectful, “There were girls that made fun of his hair – sent home. They made fun of his hair”! It appears that those women cost themselves quite a bit of publicity and “a s*** ton of money”. It sounds like Drake is a nice guy, but you certainly don’t want to test your luck.

What are your thoughts on the model’s recounting of her time shooting the “Falling Back” music video with Drake? Do you think this will somehow be used against the rapper in the future? Was it right for him to send those women home for what they did? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Lil Mabu Left Frightened By Gun Shot While Filming Music Video With Lil RT

Lil Mabu is an artist who has brought forth a ton of controversy since bursting onto the scene. Overall, there is a very good reason for this. He is a kid who has co-opted the Brooklyn Drill sound. Moreover, it has been revealed that he went to a prep school in New York and that his dad has a lot of money. Essentially, he is making music because his family has the funds to bankroll him. Additionally, he gets into a lot of viral antics, so it only makes his racket that much bigger. One could just look at his Fivio Foreign music video to understand what we mean.

Another controversial person is Lil RT. He is a young kid who has been linking up with some famous artists. Although his parents seem to be okay with what he is doing, many have criticized his involvement with people who are much older than him. Not to mention, he has been speaking about topics that a child should simply not be engaging in. His childhood is being taken from him, and most don’t approve. However, that has not stopped Lil Mabu from linking up with Lil RT, as you can see below.

In fact, the video below depicts Lil Mabu and Lil RT in Atlanta as they film the music video for “BIG DOG SH*T.” However, Mabu got spooked as he heard a gun shot in the distance. A security guard who was with him told him to relax, and he did so in the calmest way possible. The shot sounded as though it was far away, but that doesn’t make it any less scary. Whether or not it was staged to make Mabu go viral, remains to be seen.

Let us know what you thought about this video, in the comments section below. What do you make of Lil Mabu? What about Lil RT? Do you think it’s bad for a kid to be engaged in the music industry like this? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Playboi Carti Gets Nicked By Machete During Music Video Shoot For “KETAMINE”: Watch

It seems that DJ Akademiks was onto something the other day when he told Playboi Carti fans to “stay tuned.” While people did not want to believe it, the social media pundit wound up being right in a way. We did not get Music, but we did receive another new single. If you have not heard, Playboi Carti delivered “KETAMINE,” presumably the sixth taster from the long-awaited aforementioned record. Like a couple of the tracks already, this one was released on the opium_00pium Instagram account. The visuals are quite unique as well as the sonics, and during the video shoot for “KETAMINE,” Playboi Carti suffered an injury.

You can actually see it play out in the full music video. Or, if you want to skip to it, check out the shortened clip below provided by Kurrco, found by HipHopDX. In the rundown and dilapidated room is a random mattress. Carti jumps off of it and and leaps toward the half-naked guitarist that is performing alongside him.

However, hanging from the ceiling by an exposed lightbulb is a sharp machete. Carti wound up jumping right into it and you can see that he appears to be shaken up. It is unclear whether or not he meant to do that, but hopefully it is not too serious of an injury. If you have not already, you can check out “KETAMINE” and see for yourself if it is deserving of the hype it is getting.

What are your thoughts on Playboi Carti getting hurt during the filming for the “KETAMINE” music video? Are you enjoying the song so far? Where would you rank the single compared to the previous ones and why? When do you see him releasing the album? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. T-Pain Recalls 50 Cent Moisturizing His Hands For Him For Music Vid

T-Pain has had some interesting encounters over the years of his musical career. Case in point: He had an odd interaction with famed rapper 50 Cent when the two of them met for the first time while shooting a music video. “I’m not trying to, like, shame the man,” T-Pain said on a live social media feed with a handful of his friends. “I’m just saying how thoughtful he is. The n*gga saw that my hands was ashy, and he put lotion on my hands.”

T-Pain goes on to say that 50 Cent grabbed his hands in the middle of shooting a music video and got in between the fingers, moisturizing his hands thoroughly. The auto-tune rapper, born Faheem Rashad Najm, has been in the music business for longer than one might think, getting his start back in 1999. For 50 Cent, a.k.a. Curtis Jackson III, he got his start back in 1996. The two hip-hop icons have come up and become incredibly famous together, but this first interaction is definitely odd.

According to the No Jumper Instagram caption, “T-Pain says 50 Cent put lotion on his hands for him at a music video shoot because he noticed his hands were ashy.” This is not how rappers typically introduce themselves. But T-Pain swears this is a testament to how kind and thoughtful Fiddy is to his fellow rap peers. T has been making all sorts of observations and recollections recently, calling out Drake — in a joking way — for making “simp music.”

Meanwhile, 50 Cent is looking to have one last ride. The “50 Cent Final Lap” Tour starts on July 21st in Salt Lake City, UT. It ends domestically in Toronto on September 22nd. He will then take the show internationally, going from Amsterdam on September 28th through Europe, India, and ending in Oceania. His alleged “final” live performance will be on December 14th of this year in Auckland, New Zealand. Whether this is truly his “Final Lap” is speculative at best. As for T-Pain, he’s no doubt going to keep reminiscing about his storied past.

NLE Choppa Shoots Music Video At The Zoo

NLE Choppa recently had what looked like an enjoyable trip to the zoo. While he was there, he even took the opportunity to shoot a quick music video. He did so with the assistance of a popular videographer, Will Freeark. The videographer, who is also known as SetWillFree, approached NLE Choppa on Saturday. He offered to shoot a music video for the Memphis rapper free of charge. Freeark has gained viral fame for his spontaneous-style video shoots. He has even previously worked with artists like Moneybagg Yo, Toosii, and Bobby Shmurda.

Although NLE Choppa initially seemed hesitant, he eventually agreed to the video. With that, the duo embarked the shoot a video for “Stomp Em Out” on the streets of New York City. It looks like it was an extremely fun shoot. The project involved interactions with locals and a carriage ride. In one scene, the rapper holds someone’s baby and dances with it while he smiles at the camera. It all culminated in a scene shot at the Central Park Zoo, where NLE Choppa dances around and raps in front of seals. The amusing video was later uploaded to Freeark’s official YouTube channel.

NLE Choppa’s Venture Into Sports

Filming spontaneous videos is not the only new thing on NLE Choppa’s plate. it appears that he has joined the ranks of celebrities stepping into the boxing ring. He was spotted in the gym throwing punches at professional boxer Lorenzo “Truck” Simpson. However, after three unsuccessful attempts, Choppa lost his balance. As such, he started running as Truck chased him around the ring. While Choppa has proven his skills in the studio, he has a long way to go in the boxing ring. The video of the boxing incident went viral. This prompted NLE Choppa to share it on his Instagram story and tag Simpson with a humorous caption. Simpson, in turn, shared Choppa’s story on his own profile.

It remains uncertain how far Choppa intends to pursue his boxing aspirations. Still, he clearly has much room for improvement. Unfortunately, luck hasn’t been on Choppa’s side in other sports either. Just two days after opening a basketball court in his hometown, the court burned down. It had been donated by Choppa, former WNBA player Nancy Lieberman, and members of the Memphis city council, as reported by local outlet WREG. What do you think of NLE Choppa’s new video? Let us know in the comments below!

Ice Spice Shuts Down NYC Streets For Music Video Shoot

At this point, Ice Spice could do no wrong. Although it may be a bit of an internet meme at this point, Spice is seen as the next Princess Diana. Fans absolutely adore her, and it is easy to see why. Overall, she has been consistently putting out interesting music, and her personality is one that you can root for. She is an up-and-coming artist with lots of potential, and she has done a great job of continuing the hype. Spice’s underdog story is inspiring, and it’s been interesting to see her maneuver this newfound fame.

However, Ice Spice is not forgetting her New York roots in the process. Yesterday, we reported on how she was seen at a McDonald’s in New York. Moreover, this was the same day she had done a cover story for Billboard. It was here that she revealed how she currently owns her masters which is huge for any young artist. Additionally, in the midst of this, it was revealed that her music makes a cameo in the new Spider-Man movie. This is a huge look and more proof that Ice Spice is the hottest artist out.

Ice Spice Runs New York

Yesterday, Ice Spice was also filmed in the streets of New York, where it appears as though she was shutting things down. There was a noble goal behind this, however, as HipHopDX reported that Spice was filming a music video. As you can see, there were various fans surrounding Ice Spice, who looked to be standing on a vehicle. Overall, it looked to be quite the scene, and with Spice experiencing so much popularity, it is easy to see why these people came out to get a glimpse of the action.

For now, it remains to be seen what this music video is for. Perhaps it could be for whatever she has going on in the new Spider-Man movie. Or, she could simply be working on more new music. Either way, she has a very bright future ahead. Hopefully, we get some new music, sooner rather than later. Additionally, let us know what you think of all this, in the comments section below. Pink Says She Wasn’t “Shading” Christina Aguilera With “Lady Marmalade” Comments

Pink says that she wasn’t “shading” Christina Aguilera in a recent interview in which she discussed 2001’s “Lady Marmalade.” Speaking with Buzzfeed, Pink admitted that the music video for the song was her “least favorite” to shoot and “wasn’t very fun to make,” because of “some personalities” on set. Addressing the response to the viral comments on Twitter, Saturday night, Pink said that she’s not interested in drama.

“Y’all are nuts. Xtina had shit to do with who was on that song. If you don’t know by now- I’m not “shading” someone by telling it over and over and over what actually happened,” Pink wrote. “I’m zero percent interested in your fucking drama. If you haven’t noticed- I’m a little busy selling.” In another post, she added: “Also- I kissed xtinas mouth. I don’t need to kiss her ass.”

Pink’s Tweet

“I guess it is iconic, but I remember I kept crying because my skin didn’t like the makeup,” Pink further told Buzzfeed. “It was just… There was some annoying things happening that day.”

Her interview with Buzzfeed wasn’t the first time that Pink spoke down on the song’s music video. During a 2009 VH1 Behind the Music special, Pink complained about the experience. Years later, Pink appeared on a 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and revealed that Aguilera once “swung at me in a club.” She clarified that they had since made amends. “We were super young and super new at the whole thing, and I think I’m an alpha, and she’s an alpha,” Pink said. “I’m used to taking my altercations physical and she’s used to having them verbal. We’re just very different, we’re very different. And we were very young and new. You have to learn — women have to learn how to support each other. It’s not taught to each other in the playground.”

Aguilera appeared on the program two years later and gave her side of the story. “She was heckling me in the audience a little bit behind the director,” she said of Pink on the set. “I was like, ‘Oh, What’s going on?’ But that’s what she did back then. She’s a different person now, she’s a mom, she’s cool.”
