Ice Spice’s Producer Gets Clowned For Setup

Ice Spice is quickly becoming one of the biggest stars in all of music. Over the weekend one of England’s biggest rap fests took place, Wireless Festival in London. Alongside superstars like Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and Lil Uzi Vert, Spice also performed at the festival. While fans in attendance seemed to enjoy her performance some fans online watching the live stream of the festival noticed something else. One of the rapper’s go-to producers Riot came along to serve as her live DJ. But when an angle of his live set-up was broadcasted to fans they couldn’t believe how minimal it was.

In a tweet accompanied by a picture of his scant DJ table, a fan cracked a joke. “Ice Spice DJ with the least demanding tech rider in Wireless history,” the tweet says. It started to take off online as fans couldn’t believe how little tech Riot had on display compared to a lot of live DJs. The post went even more viral once Riot quote tweeted it with his own response clarifying things. “cs i’m not a dj 😭,” his response tweet read. Clearly, Riot is more comfortable behind the boards in a recording studio than working the turntables at a festival.

Ice Spice’s DJ Explains

Like many of the biggest girls in hip-hop Ice Spice finds almost everything she does being scrutinized online. She shared some new fit pics with fans from her trip to London for the festival at the start of the weekend. She also sparked some controversy when a video of her during the BET Awards went viral. During a performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of rap, Ice Spice was glued to her phone instead of watching the performance. It sparked a debate among fans about whether not watching the other performers during the show was okay.

While she’s gone viral for posts made online, she’s matched it with tons of success on the charts. She just debuted her Barbie movie soundtrack song “Barbie World” in the top 10 of the Hot 100. It’s already her 4th top-10 single of 2023. What do you think of Ice Spice’s DJ’s setup? Let us know in the comment section below.

Machine Gun Kelly Sings In Spanish And Disses Haters At Festival Show

Yesterday, Machine Gun Kelly performed at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, Spain. According to HipHopDX, right in the middle of playing a string of his biggest hits he stopped to address his fans in attendance. He spoke to the crowd completely in Spanish thanking them for their love and welcoming him into their country. He then declared that he would pay homage to their language by singing a song with them. The song he picked was Marc Cisco’s “Oy Yoy You,” which was clearly a good choice as the crowd sang along with every word.

Afterwards, Machine Gun Kelly did something he’s used to doing often, taking on haters. “Haters will say I switched genres again,” he captioned a clip he posted of the performance. Once purely a rapper, MGK notoriously took a turn for pop-punk a few years ago and has found massive success with it. Both of his pop-punk albums Tickets To My Downfall and Mainstream Sellout debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. He also scored a top-20 hit alongside blackbear with the song “My Ex’s Best Friend.” The track has since gone 3x platinum.

Another one of Machine Gun Kelly’s “haters,” at least if you ask him, is Jack Harlow. In a recent song, Harlow said that he was the best white rapper since Eminem, a comment MGK clearly took offense to. MGK brought it up with a diss at Harlow in one of his backyard freestyles. He followed that by teaming up with Doe Boy in the next episode of his freestyle series.

Machine Gun Kelly has also beefed with many others. His highly publicized beef with Eminem a few years ago resulted in some major hit diss tracks. Just recently he found himself taking shots at the frontman of 2000’s pop punk band The All-American Rejects. All of that has come alongside his ongoing relationship drama with actress Megan Fox. What do you think of Machine Gun Kelly singing to his fans in Spanish? Let us know in the comment section below.

Eric B. And Rakim Make History With Performance At The Stone Pony

Earlier this week, hip hop duo Eric B. and Rakim performed at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Their performance was part of the North to Shore Music Festival. The performance made history, with the iconic duo becoming the first rap act ever to perform at the New Jersey venue. According to Eric B., the performance was one he’s always hope for. Their performance also comes just in time for the 50th anniversary of hip hop, which will be celebrated in August.

“Performing at the Stone Pony is definitely a dream come true,” Eric B recently revealed in a press release. He continued, “I have been TRULY BLESSED during my career to have played at almost every premiere arena and venue around the world. So, to be able to be the first Hip Hop group to play at the Stone Pony, which has been the home to countless iconic acts…especially as we celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop, is unprecedented.”

He wrote on Twitter, “Tonight I was honored to introduce two pioneers of hip-hop — @EricBandRakim — for historic performance at @thestonepony @inAsburyParkNJ!” He also added, “I couldn’t dream of a better way to honor 50 years of hip-hop as part of the @NorthtoShore Festival.”

In a recent interview with HotNewHipHop‘s Erika Marie, Rakim opened up about what he looks forward to seeing from the hip hop genre in the next five decades. “I’m looking forward to…man,” he began. “I think, with the 50th-year anniversary, I think it’s kind of taken a lid off of Hip Hop.” Rakim also said, “It’s taken a limit off of Hip Hop, to be able to celebrate 50 years. What we’re actually doin’ is celebrating 50 years of emceeing and DJing and B-boying, you know what I mean? So, it’s like we were going back with knowing our history on these great artists.”

SZA And Lizzo Set To Headline Made In America Fest

Made In American Festival has officially confirmed the lineup for its 2023 rendition. The beloved Philly festival will return in September and is headlined by a pair of good friends. R&B stars SZA and Lizzo will serve as the festival’s joint headliners in a move that has fans buzzing with anticipation. Both artists are coming off hit 2022 albums. Lizzo dropped Special her long-awaited follow-up to 2019’s Cuz I Love You in July of last year. SZA arguably returned with even more anticipation when she dropped her first new album in 5 years SOS in December. Both artists have also had major hit songs with Lizzo’s “About Damn Time” and SZA’s “Kill Bill” each reaching the top of the charts.

The two artists have long been both friends and musical collaborators. Earlier this year SZA joined a remix of Lizzo’s song “Special” off her new album. In fact, just yesterday SZA came to Lizzo’s defense online against those who critique her body image. “I be wondering where all the virtue signaling ,well spoken sh*t talking , internet warriors are when someone genuine needs defending . Where the f*ck do y’all be at for lizzo ? Do y’all actually know how to support others or only tear them down,” her tweet read.

The two R&B darlings are far from the only highlights in the festival’s lineup. Alongside SZA and LIzzo are Miguel, Tems, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice, Coi Leray, Latto, Lil Yachty, Doechii, and more. In addition to the regular lineup, the festival will also feature a special performance from Mase and Cam’Ron. Former Made In America headliners include Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny, and Tyler, The Creator.

For SZA, it’s another stop in a busy year she’s having following her return to the spotlight. After releasing a remix with Doja Cat, she scored her first number-one hit with “Kill Bill.” While that’s the only official new material she’s released so far this year rumors about a SOS deluxe album have been swirling for months. What do you think of Made In America’s lineup? Let us know in the comment section below.

Skrillex Pauses Concert After A Fire Breaks Out On Stage

Skrillex has had a very busy 2023 releasing two albums and a number of remixes already. He also filled in as a headliner during week 2 of Coachella after Frank Ocean pulled out and delivered a Boiler Room-style EDM set alongside fellow artists Fred Again… and Four Tet. Just a few days ago Skrillex debuted a new remix of Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s hit song “Princess Diana” which Nicki herself seemed to enjoy.

During his performance at a different festival over the weekend, Primavera Sound, he had to briefly pause in the middle due to a fire. The show was paused for over 10 minutes after one of the lights on the stage above where Skrillex was standing caught on fire. Festival organizers lower the light and put it out with a handheld fire extinguisher. Fans in attendance shared dozens of videos of the fire to social media as soon as it happened.

Skrillex’s Scary Situation

After a quiet 2022, Skrillex has seemingly been everywhere this year. His two new albums “Quest For Fire” and “Don’t Get Too Close” have very different sounds but feature a number of high-profile collaborators. Missy Elliott, Swae Lee, Kid Cudi, Chief Keef, Don Toliver, Yung Lean, Justin Bieber, and many more appear as features on various songs from either album. Alongside all of these collaborations he’s worked and performed with breakout garage producer Fred Again… and micro-house legend Four Tet. The trio have reportedly been living together in New York since sometime last year.

Skrillex and company served as a last-minute addition to weekend two of Coachella following Frank Ocean’s controversial headlining set. The show left fans disappointed after it started late and ended early. For weekend two, the ice skating rink which was meant for Frank’s show was repurposed for Skrillex’s replacement show. It was one of dozens of festival spots the EDM superstar has played in 2023. It followed a series of tweets he made earlier this year explaining the personal reasons behind his absence. Watch the video of the on-stage fire and tell us what you think in the comment section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more updates.

2023 Summer Festivals Hip Hop Fans Can’t Miss

Get excited: 2023’s summer festival season has fully begun. Festivals such as Coachella, Dreamville Fest, and Something In The Water have already happened. The resurgence of live music following the pandemic has led to numerous worldwide festivals announcing their annual lineups. Festival mainstays such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and The Governors Ball hold annual events which music fans can look forward to. The summer festival circuit for 2023 consists of many must-see live events for hip hop fans.

This is a list of summer festivals in 2023 that hip hop fans can’t miss. The list comprises five festivals worldwide with impressive lineups essential for hip hop concertgoers. Each festival on this list has a diverse list of hip hop artists in their lineups. The events are listed in order of when they occur. Further details of the events can be found on their respective websites and social media pages. Take a look at the list below.

Lovers & Friends

The latest edition of the Lovers & Friends festival will be happening tomorrow, May 6 in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. The stacked lineup consists of many legendary hip hop and R&B artists from the early 2000s as Lovers & Friends celebrates that period and embraces nostalgia. There are almost 50 artists on the bill, making for one eventful day. Before the festival, the schedule was released so fans could plan ahead. Missy Elliott, recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will headline along with Mariah Carey, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Boyz II Men closing other stages. Additionally, other performers include Usher, Miguel, Chris Brown, 50 Cent, Jhené Aiko, and Christina Aguilera. Tickets to this year’s event are sold out.

Roots Picnic

The Roots have been hosting their own festival in their hometown of Philadelphia for quite some time now. Last year, the first post-pandemic Roots Picnic lineup saw the festival expanding into two days. This year, the Roots Picnic returns to The Mann at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia on June 3 and 4. Dave Chappelle and The Roots will also perform for the festival at the Wells Fargo Center on June 2. The eclectic lineup consists of headliners Ms. Lauryn Hill, celebrating the 25th anniversary of her iconic debut album, as well as Diddy, backed by The Roots. Other notable performers include Ari Lennox, City Girls, dvsn, Syd, as well as a State Property reunion. Also, Black Thought will be curating his annual “live mixtape,” where he brings out artists and raps over their songs. This year, Black Thought is joined by Eve and Busta Rhymes.

Hive Music Festival

One of the newest events on this list, Hive Music Festival’s promising lineup, shows that it is a must for hip hop fans attending 2023 summer festivals. Artists on this year’s lineup include headliners Kid Cudi and Post Malone, along with Joey Bada$$, Big Sean, Denzel Curry, Ab-Soul, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers, and more. Joji is also listed as a special guest on this year’s lineup.

Rolling Loud

As far as hip hop festivals go, Rolling Loud is undeniably one of the biggest events. The festival draws in younger audiences as it is known for its rowdy performances and mosh-heavy crowds. Originating in Florida, the traveling hip hop festival has expanded worldwide. The California edition of the festival happened back in March, and they will hold five other festivals throughout the summer.

Rolling Loud Miami will happen July 21-23 at Hard Rock Stadium with headliners Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and A$AP Rocky. Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott will also perform at Rolling Loud Rotterdam on June 30-July 1. After, the two will perform at Rolling Loud Germany in Munich on July 7-9. Wizkid will join Kendrick and Travis at Rolling Loud Germany as the Day One headliner. The annual Portugal edition of the festival will have Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Meek Mill as headliners, performing in Portimão.

Blue Note Jazz Festival

As far as 2023 summer festivals go, the Blue Note Jazz Festival in Napa, California, has easily one of the most stacked lineups, consisting of hip hop, R&B, soul, jazz, and funk. In its city of origin, the annual New York version of the festival will occur in June at various venues in the city. The latest Blue Note Jazz Festival in Napa is happening at Silverado Resort on July 28-30.

The three-day festival has enlisted Mary J. Blige, Nas, and Chance The Rapper to headline, along with Robert Glasper as their artist in residence. Glasper is joined by De La Soul, Lalah Hathaway, and Bilal, with Dave Chappelle hosting his sets. Other performers include Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge as NxWorries, Ari Lennox, Cordae, Gary Clark Jr., Talib Kweli & Madlib, and Rapsody. Following the festival, each night consists of various afterparties hosted by the likes of 9th Wonder, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Anderson .Paak. Overall, there are plenty of 2023 summer festivals to look forward to. Comment below what festivals you will be attending this year.

Latto Twerks Up A Storm During Something In The Water Festival Performance

Following two weekends’ worth of standout performances at Coachella, Latto is once again showing her skills and talent as a rapper and performer on the festival circuit. Most recently, she visited Virginia Beach to perform at Pharrell’s Something In The Water festival. During her set, she put her twerking skills on full display, accentuated by live instrumentation and a killer drummer. Along the way, she played some of her biggest hits and even brought a fan onstage to get a lap dance for her remix of YFN Lucci’s “Wet.” All in all, it’s been a great run of shows for the 777 MC.

However, that’s not all that Latto brought to the table recently as far as material. She just released a new single “Put It On Da Floor” that made headlines for her mention of Coi Leray, which she responded to negatively. However, since then, the two made amends and cleared up any assumptions of beef. In fact, things got so discussed online that a fake video of them fighting went viral after their reconciliation. Furthermore, fans of both artists are hoping that this can manifest into a collab between the two.

Latto Gives Yet Another Great Festival Performance

In addition, a lot of people thought that she photoshopped a picture of the crowd at her Coachella set to make it look bigger. After the 24-year-old shut down those claims, people quickly realized that it was just haters looking to hate. Unfortunately, the Ohio-born and Georgia-raised MC has to deal with that a lot. For example, people also criticized her body implants after a picture of her mid-twerk made rounds on Twitter. As always, she brushed it off with ease with a simple and carefree explanation: “Just a BBL mid-clap.”

Meanwhile, she recently opened up on her thoughts on plastic surgery with her sister Brooklyn Nikole on her Apple Music 777 Radio show. “I’m telling you… all the young girls listening, all the women listening right now,” the RCA Records signee began. “I’m telling you from someone who’s been there, done it, find peace within your natural state. Because you’re going to find a flaw and another flaw and another flaw and another flaw. Surgery, any of that stuff is not a permanent fix.” Regardless of what she’s done with her body, she always looks great on stage as she has a good time with fans. You can find more clips from her Something In The Water performance, with lap dances and twerking galore, down below. For the latest news and updates on Latto, keep checking in with HNHH.
