Mack Wilds Wants To Play LL Cool J In Biopic

Mack Wilds says that he wants to portray LL Cool J if a biopic is made about the legendary rapper. The Wire actor put his name in the running for the role after Cool J tweeted about making a biopic, earlier this week.

“Should I do a bio pic?” LL Cool J captioned a series of photos of himself.

Wilds responded to the post directly by writing, “I mean… what are we talking about?”

Afterward, he elaborated on the idea while speaking with HipHopDX.

“Hell yes! I’d love to play LL,” he told the outlet. “I’ve been trying to figure out if he’d do a biopic for years.”

From there, he reflected on the impact LL Cool J had on his career.

“LL was my very first concert,” he explained. “He did a free concert at Wingate Park in Brooklyn. My dad took me ’cause he saw I really connected to his music. He was my first understanding of stage presence.”

Wild has previously starred in The WireShots Fired90210, and more over the years. In addition to his acting career, Wilds has been releasing music. He dropped his debut album, New York: A Love Story, in 2013. Method Man, Raekwon, and Doug E. Fresh all made appearances on the project. Wilds earned a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album, but lost out to Rihanna’s Unapologetic.

He released his latest project, AfterHours, in 2017.

It remains unclear if LL Cool J is serious about going forward with a biopic, but look out for Wilds’ involvement if he does.

Boosie Badazz Wants To Direct A YSL RICO Case Movie

YSL’s ongoing RICO case took the world by storm this year, with Gunna free but Young Thug still behind bars. Moreover, there have been so many twists and turns that it gets difficult to keep up with what happened and what’s speculated. Still, some within the rap game want to take that chance. Boosie Badazz expressed interest in directing a movie about Young Thug, YSL, and their legal battle.

Still, it’s unclear whether this hypothetical movie would be fiction, although it can be assumed to refer more to a documentary. While Boosie is often the subject of much media controversy, he’s found success on big and small screens through his team at Boosie BadAzz Productions. He wrote, directed, and produced Where’s MJ, which hit this Christmas. To elaborate, it’s a Black take on Home Alone starring Desi Banks, Grove Hero, his son Tootie Raww, Boosie himself, and many others. Moreover, special guests Flavor Flav and the late Atlanta rapper Trouble also make appearances.

While attending the film’s premiere at Clark Atlanta University, the rapper elaborated on his next move. After Where’s MJ, he told AllHipHop that he wanted to document what’s happening between YSL and the City of Atlanta.

“I’ll document it. I’ll shoot the film,” he said. “Free all them boys. I don’t want nobody in there.”

Also, the 40-year-old advocated for YFN Lucci’s release, who is also in jail due to RICO charges including murder. In fact, Lucci alleged that some of Thugger’s YSL crew tried to kill him while jailed in Fulton County.

Before the evening closed out, the Baton Rouge artist thanked everyone for their support and attendance. However, with the holiday season in mind, he gave a $15,000 check to Clark Atlanta University to thank them for their support of his film endeavors.

What do you think of Boosie Badazz’s plans to document the YSL story and put it on the big screen? Have you seen Where’s MJ yet and what did you think? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest in hip-hop-movie crossovers and more rap on the big screen.

Blxst And Bino Rideaux Employ Themselves At A Dysfunctional Car Wash In Their ‘Movie’ Video

Last year proved to be a big year for Blxst and Bino Rideaux. The West Coast acts’ stocks saw a nice boost after they dropped their respective projects, No Love Lost and Outside. Both efforts arrived after they came together for their Sixtape EP in 2019. Now, Blxst and Bino are preparing to release a sequel, but before doing so, they return with a video for the upcoming project’s lead single, “Movie.” The visual finds the rappers employing themselves at a dysfunctional car wash headed by an equally dysfunctional manager. After pushing through the chaos, Blxst and Bino take over the property to throw a feel-good party in the warm West Coast sun.

The new video comes with news that the duo’s upcoming project, Sixtape 2 will arrive on July 16. The effort will hopefully continue the streak both rappers have been on while adding to strong collaborations they’ve already presented in their respective catalogs. Their recent songs together include “Wrong Or Right (Remix)” from Blxst’s No Love Lost and “Brand New” from Bino’s Outside.

Outside of their collaborations, the newly-crowned XXL Freshman Blxst announced his No Love Lost tour and recently teamed up with YG and Mozzy for their “Perfect Timing” video while Bino dropped his first solo single of the year last month with “Got To Know It.”

Sixtape 2 is out 7/16 via Red Bull Records.

Blxst And Bino Rideaux Promise A Silky Smooth ‘Movie’ On Their Latest Collaboration

Based on their work last year, Bino Rideaux and Blxst seemed primed to come out of the West Coast and reach the masses this year. The duo’s popularity increased after they joined forces for their 2019 joint EP, Sixtape. Nearly two years later, Blxst and Rideaux are getting ready to run it back for a second time with the impending release of Sixtape 2. Before fans of both rappers can get their hands on the new effort, the pair kicks off the rollout for Sixtape 2 with their new track, “Movie.” The single sees the artists showing love to their respective partners and promising for a good time if they stick by their sides.

Sixtape 2 was originally teased on Blxst’s “Forever Humble,” which appeared on the deluxe reissue of his 2020 project, No Love Lost. “Bino my brudda, won’t forget what you told me / 6tape, mixtape but classic facts only,” he raps. “They want us to double back / Wouldn’t be surprised if part two got a f*ckin’ plaque.”

As for Bino Rideaux, he saw a breakout year of his own in 2020 thanks to his Outside album. Its fifteen songs gave fans a better look at who he was as an artist and even earned a co-sign from Young Thug, who later joined him for a remix of “Mismatch.”

You can listen to “Movie” in the video above.
