Montell Fish’s Alter Ego DJ Gummy Bear Delivers Meditative Cuts On “Intercession Before Charlotte”

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania genre-bending artist Montell Fish received our first coverage last week for his single with dj gummy bear “Irrational.” However, the latter is not another artist. In fact, it is an alter ego, if you will. The single was to promote Montell Fish’s/gummy’s EP Intercession Before Charlotte. Well, today the “duo” is here to deliver that project and it features six tracks with zero features. Essentially, think of gummy bear as a producer and Montell is the performer.

After listening to the tape, this may be the most relaxing thing we have heard this year. The production takes center stage with elements of lo-fi and alternative. Montell’s lyrics are little bit of an afterthought, but not in a bad way. It just seems that this was clearly more of a dj gummy bear project compared to a Fish album.

Listen To Intercession Before Charlotte By Montell Fish & DJ Gummy Bear

Additionally, this will not be the last we hear from Montell. At some point, he will be dropping the follow-up Charlotte, which is going to be an LP. The meaning for this EP, according to a Hypebeast interview, was for dj gummy bear to keep Montell away from the distractions of fame. That will be talked about on Charlotte. He explains it further in the chat with the publication, but the other meaning behind Intercession is a distraction from the LP itself, meaning he needs more time to get it done.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, Intercession Before Charlotte, by Montell Fish and dj gummy bear? Is this his best project to date, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Are you excited for their upcoming album? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Chuck Strangers Taps Joey Bada$$, The Alchemist, & More For “A Forsaken Lover’s Plea”

At the backend of January we covered out first material from Pro Era rapper Chuck Strangers in over three years. The Brooklynite had been gearing up for his comeback album with the release of the single “Ski’d Up.” We thoroughly enjoyed the track in every way from Chuck’s focused flows and The Alchemist’s smooth, woodwind beat. Now, Chuck Strangers is back to deliver on that album, which is called A Forsaken Lover’s Plea.

This is just the third overall project from Strangers, and as we mentioned his first in about four years. That last offering was Too Afraid to Dance. Chuck is definitely making up for some lost time here, as he brings his longest album to date. There are 17 tracks, but at a breezy 34-minute runtime.

24kGoldn Shows How Much He’s Changed In Three Years With “Growing Pains”

San Francisco, California multi-talent, 24kGoldn, is finally back with a new album. It has been nearly three years to the day since his last full-length listen. Of course, that was 2021’s El Dorado. It was a fun and easy-going listen with features from Future, iann dior, Swae Lee, and DaBaby. But, since that time and his mega-popular track “Mood,” things have not been on the upswing for him. However, over the past couple of months the singer and rapper has been hinting a new project with a handful of singles. Now, 24kGoldn is officially back with a new LP for fans called Growing Pains.

Back at the start of the year, he gave us a pretty big clue as to what the thematic direction would be. On “Good Intentions,” which also happens to be the intro cut, he melodically raps about his worries and troubles. “”If I’m bein’ honest, I’ve been goin’ through a rut, uh / Victim of my selfishness, it’s finally catchin’ up, uh.”

Listen To Growing Pains By 24kGoldn

Then, fittingly, 24kGoldn ends Growing Pains with “Clarity,” a record that displays a hopeful mindset going forward. However, he still feels conflicted, as with this newfound confidence, he still finds it weird that he is doing better. “But I’m damned if I don’t, damned if I do / It’s not easy livin’ with clarity / I just need a little more therapy.” He also sounds a little different on this record, as he adopts some different inflections on his voice like on “I’m Here,” for example. There is a chance this could divide some fans, but we can appreciate 24k for being more vulnerable on this offering.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, Growing Pains, by 24kGoldn? What tracks are you gravitating toward right now and why? Was Leikell47’s feature a good placement for this record, why or why not? Do you like this sonic and stylistic direction for him? Kenny Mason Finally Delivers New LP “9”

Kenny Mason is a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia that has always been an intriguing name since he got started in 2016. For most listeners though, he did not really start getting some notoriety until about 2020. That is when he put out his first full project Angelic Hoodrat. Then, in 2022, the multi-talent put out his longest tape to date, RUFFS, with 16 tracks. However, he has not really come close to dropping something that large since. That trend of shorter LPs continues for Kenny Mason on his latest offering 9.

This is somewhat of a continuation of Mason’s previous number titles, 6 and 3, with the latter being an EP. For this third multiple of three record, he is showcasing his abilities to make digestible and dark trap cuts. However, to add to his appeal, Kenny sprinkles in some tracks such as “LUMINOUS” were he rides a smooth and elegant boom-bap instrumental. On top of this solid output, he has some other exciting things happening.

Speaker Knockerz & His Team Put Out Collection Of Unreleased Beats On “The Goat”

Hip-hop fans will be the first to tell you how much Speaker Knockerz meant to the community. He was cooking up so many bangers during the 2010s. It was a truly special thing to see unfold with songs like “Lonely,” “Money,” “Dap You Up,” “Erica Kane,” and more. Unfortunately, we tragically lost the Auto-tuned hitmaker back on March 6, 2014. His voice will always be remembered, and we continue to send our condolences to his family and friends. This weekend, Speaker Knockerz fans can celebrate his legacy once more by checking out The Goat.

This is the first posthumous release for him since 2016’s Flight Delayed. That record included rapping performances across the board. So, it might be a little unfortunate for some to know that The Goat is nothing but instrumentals. When fans reacted to this news a couple of days ago on X, they had all sorts of viewpoints.

Some were disappointed in Speaker’s estate for taking advantage of his name all these years after the fact. Others were concerned about the controversial AI technology being used to replicate his standout voice. Furthermore, there were a few who were genuinely excited. Arguably, dropping nine unreleased beats by Speaker Knockerz may have been the smartest decision if his estate was dead set on releasing something. If you want to continue the debate, you can head down to the comments section and let us know your opinions.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, The Goat, by Speaker Knockerz? What instrumentals are you gravitating toward right now and why? Do you have a favorite one at the moment? Was this a missed opportunity to not include any posthumous rapping tracks, why or why not? How do you think his career would have played out? Flo Milli Further Cements Her Identity On “Fine Ho, Stay”

Southern hip-hop is one of the main pillars of hip-hop and it has given us some of the best artists and tracks in its history. Of course, with every new face that decides to embody this style, things are not going to be how they once were. For Flo Milli on Fine Ho, Stay, she is showing that it does not always have be to super grimy. While she does like to portray a lot of sexual themes in her music, she makes it a little more lighthearted.

“Never Lose Me,” the album’s one and only single, is the perfect example of that. It has that pop rap appeal with the softer kick drums and delivery from Flo. After hearing this record, it becomes clearer and clearer that she is a master of catchy melodies and sticky cadences. “New Me,” “Neva,” “Toast,” and “Edible,” are some that show this ability.

Flo Milli’s love for the southern-fried sound is also apparent from the producers that hopped on Fine Ho, Stay. Honorable C.N.O.T.E, Lex Luger, Bangladesh, ATL Jacob, Cardo, Mike WiLL Made-It, are just some of the legends involved. Juicy J is also in the mix as a writer and you can hear that Memphis influence on tracks like “Got The Juice” and “Neva.” Flo’s Ho-themed trilogy is now complete, and this might be the best one of the bunch.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, Fine Ho, Stay, by Flo Milli? What songs are you gravitating toward right now and why? Who had the strongest guest performance? Justin Timberlake Makes His Long-Awaited Return On “Everything I Thought It Was”

For multiple decades now, Justin Timberlake has been one of the biggest stars in all of popular music. He scored numerous smash hits as a member of boy band NSYNC before breaking off as a solo artist and reaching even more stunning highs. His last four studio albums dating back to 2006 have all debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with his debut hitting number two before that. After a six-year gap in new projects, Timberlake returned with Everything I Thought It Was.

The album was led off by the lead single “Selfish” which has become a hit on pop radio. The song debuted at number 20 on the Hot 100 and is still holding at number 32 this week. The track has racked up more than 50 million streams on Spotify already with the music video being watched more than 20 million times on YouTube. Justin Timberlake Drops His Lengthy New Album

Justin Timberlake’s last new album was 2018’s Man Of The Woods. Though the album performed well initially it was blasted by critics. The lead single “Filthy” in particular was bashed and didn’t achieve nearly the same highs as some of his other singles. The biggest hit from the record ended up being a crossover with country singer Chris Stapleton.
