YG Finally Releases “JUST RE’D UP 3” Featuring Lil Yachty, Ty Dolla $ign, Saweetie, & More

YG has been in quite the mix-up over the past couple of days. Reportedly, a neighbor called the police as they were worried about loud noises coming from inside his and his girlfriend (?) Saweetie’s home. When authorities arrived, they quickly separated the two after an intense shouting match that thankfully didn’t involve any hands being thrown. Since then, fans are skeptical on how their relationship will move forward. However, YG doesn’t seem all that bothered after shutting down rumors and dropping his new album, JUST RE’D UP 3.

The California MC has been working toward this release over the last couple of months, leaving off single after single. The lead-off track was “KNOCKA”, which came out back in April. After, that YG would go on to give fans four more, including “STUPID” with Lil Yachty and Babyface Ray, “WEIRD”, and more. This is obviously now the third installment in his Just Re’d Up series, which started back at the early stages of the 2010s. Now, after about 11 years since number two, 3 is here. Gucci Mane Drops Part One Of His “Greatest Of All Trappers” Mixtape With DJ Drama

Gucci Mane has delivered an all killer and no filler mixtape in the form of Greatest Of All Trappers. However, he isn’t alone on this release, as the legendary DJ Drama is back alongside the Atlanta native, making this a Gangsta Grillz Edition. Here, you are receiving 12 tracks of straight-forward trap bangers, all of which further prove why Guwop is one of the greatest trap artists to ever pick up a microphone. While this project doesn’t have any other goals besides getting you hyped, the mixing and production quality certainly feels album worthy. It all sounds crystal clear and snappy, something that you cannot say about past Gucci mixtapes. Although, that’s why those projects have so much charm and a cult following.

So, if you are looking for that type of listening experience, you may be let down. However, if you are here for slappers, you will leave satisfied. Gucci Mane announced this mixtape about 48 hours ago via social media, writing, “Greatest Of All Trappers the GangsterGrillz mixtape dropping Friday hosted by @djdrama all real Gucci fans drop a 🐐 if y’all ready!! Hardest project of the year!!! #GreatestOfAllTrappers 💰💰”. After doing some digging though, this seems to just be phase one of this project. Another version is coming in the middle of October, the 17th to be specific. It will have 24 tracks, with disc one presumably including these Gangsta Grillz Edition cuts, and disc two being all new material. For now, though, check out this version with the links below.

MAVI Is Cautiously Optimistic On Third Album “Shadowbox”

If you have not been paying attention to MAVI, you should. The 24-year-old from Charlotte has been turning heads ever since releasing his debut album Let The Sun Talk in 2019. Since then, he’s collaborated with Earl Sweatshirt, The Alchemist, MIKE, and others, honing his craft and learning how to stand out in the lane he operates in. He followed Let The Sun Talk with Laughing So Hard, It Hurts in 2022, an introspective and melancholic album. He talked about his pain, both individually and as it pertains to his family. MAVI referred to it as a “heartbreak album” after a fan asked if he made a breakup album. His third LP, shadowbox, is a similarly detailed self-reflection.

shadowbox covers themes of growth, family, substance abuse, religion, and other heavy topics. The production is soulful, going from dark to more light sounds across the album. Monte Booker, TwoTone, and Beach Noise are among the names who handled the beats on this album. Where Laughing So Hard, It Hurts was largely pessimistic, shadowbox comes with a more cautious optimism. He recognizes his flaws and wants to be the best he can be. It’s a noticeable change from his previous work, where it sounded like he resigned himself to being another victim in an endless cycle of pain. The result is some of his strongest rapping to date. shadowbox features one guest, R&B singer and former American Idol contestant, Malaya. Malaya is a frequent collaborator with jazz titan and hip-hop producer Terrace Martin. She recently featured on MESSIAH!’s latest album, the villain wins, which MAVI also appeared on. At 14 songs and 34 minutes, shadowbox is worth every second of your time. Stream the new album below.

J Balvin Returns To His Roots With New Album, “Rayo”

J Balvin has shared his sixth studio album, Rayo, making for the first full-length effort from the “Prince of Reggaeton” since 2021. The new project features collaborations with Chencho Corleone, Luar la L, Feid, Saiko, Bad Gyal, Zion, Dei V, Ryan Castro, Blessd, Carín León, Omar Courtz, Yovngchimi, Quevedo, Mambo Kingz and DJ Luian. It takes its name from the first car that his father bought him. He dropped the project on streaming services on Friday.

Speaking about the project with PEOPLE for a recent interview, he revealed his inspiration for the music. “This album is inspired by when I was a kid doing music just for the love of the music, forgetting about the business. This is something that reminded me of my childhood when I wanted to be an artist. When I was the most hungry, it’s when I was a kid,” Balvin told the outlet. “Now, I still feel the same hunger that I had before, but I don’t have to prove myself and I just enjoy the process of the music. Lil Mosey Drops New EP, “Love U Forever,” As An Independent Artist

Lil Mosey has shared a new EP titled Love U Forever, after dropping the latest single for the project, “By Yourself,” two weeks ago. The new project comes after he separated from his former label and inked a deal to go independent with Cinq Music, earlier this year. “I’m excited to finally be able to release independently,” Lil Mosey back in March. “I’m grateful to have a partner like Cinq and Barry. I know that we will do great things together.”

Mosey shared the release on his Instagram page on Friday, resulting in mixed feelings from fans. Some have been loving the direction he’s going in with the new music. One top comment reads: “I Love ‘So what’ my personal favorite on the EP and I’m messin w the new era heavy! Keep it up bro!” Not all of the reactions have been so positive, however. One more popular response complains: “This album is sh*t ngl all the songs sound the exact same it’s just that boring ass voice. Kali Uchis Drops Off “ORQUIDEAS PARTE 2” That Includes Four New Demos

Alexandria, Virginia resident of Colombian descent, Kali Uchis, put out one of her most substantial releases of her career at the beginning of 2024 with ORQUIDEAS. It’s a record that hears her plunge more into her Spanish roots with just a few instances of her English coming out. Fans and critics were still digging it, including us. So much so that the album was widely acclaimed and sold 31,000 copies in its first week. Vinyl sales were the catalyst, with over 20,000 customers accounting for that number. That led Kali to achieving the largest week for a Spanish-language album on vinyl in the modern era. Because of all of that success, Kali Uchis is giving her Kuchis (her fanbase), a PARTE 2 of ORQUIDEAS.

Compared to the original version, this “deluxe” edition includes four new tracks, which according to the LA Times are a set of demos. So, that means there are now 18 songs instead of 14. They kick in after “Heladito”, the second to last track. After that, you get titles such as “Adicto”, “Young Rich & In Love – KAYTRANADA Remix”, “Simple”, “Como Debe Ser”. Fans were assuming this PARTE 2 was going to a remix LP of sorts. However, Kali shut that down. “Isee people saying Orquídeas parte 2 is a remix project its notttt… Its Orquídeas demos for my Kuchis along with the Kaytra remix”. That’s still more than enough for us to revisit this stellar project and it should be for you too.

Asake, one of Lagos, Nigeria’s brightest stars, is here with probably his biggest album of his early career. This weekend, he delivered his highly anticipated third studio effort, Lungu Boy. Why we feel this is such an important release for the 29-year-old singer and songwriter is based on an interview with Apple Music. “Lungu Boy explains my early beginnings in music and how it shaped me into the person I am becoming”, he explains. “The English word is ‘ghetto’. As you can tell from the choice of collaborations, Lungu Boy is my heritage and culture to the rest of the world”. Speaking of those, Travis Scott, Wizkid, Central Cee, Stormzy, and LUDMILLA all appear within the 15 tracks.

In terms of the soundscapes, you are getting some smoother amapiano cuts, lively bangers, and everything in between. It truly is a melting pot of tones for Asake and something he was also looking to accomplish with Lungu Boy. “It’s a new field. I refuse to limit myself and strive to share my African heritage with the world through a blend that goes beyond just a sound”. Furthermore, Asake adds, “Consistency and exposure lead to growth”. Leading up to the release, he gave us the album’s biggest collaborations to chew on. “Active” with La Flame remains to be one of the LP’s catchiest and high-energy moments and “Wave” with Cench is equally as intoxicating. The Kid LAROI Expands Upon His Debut With “THE FIRST TIME (DELUXE VERSION)”

The Kid LAROI made a massive comeback late last year by finally giving his eager fanbase his debut album THE FIRST TIME. The project saw the Aussie dip his toes into multiple genres such as pop, R&B, hip-hop, in addition to more singer/songwriter types of cuts. Even though there are 20 tracks on the original project, the 20-something superstar wanted to give back to those who were patiently awaiting his grand return. So, The Kid LAROI is here with the deluxe version of THE FIRST TIME.

The “STAY” artist announced that this was going to be a thing just several days after its release on social media. However, a drop date was still up in the air. LAROI would lead things off with “HEAVEN” back in late January, “HATRED” with Lil Yachty in April, and the ode to 2000s pop/R&B with “GIRLS” in late June. With this DELUXE VERSION, the singer, rapper, and songwriter has five other tracks to offer. One pf them is a sequel to “NIGHTS LIKE THIS”, one of the most replayed tracks from the inaugural set.

Ravyn Lenae Lets The Experimentation Run Free On “Bird’s Eye”

Ravyn Lenae is showing that she’s willing to take chances on her sophomore album Bird’s Eye. This is her follow-up to her 2022 debut HYPNOS, and one that’s been led by some pretty great promotional tracks. The 25-year-old hypnotist from Chicago got the rollout started back in early May with her “Love Me Not / Love Is Blind” twofer offering up starkly different takes on R&B. One would say that it was great indication that Ravyn was working on trying new sounds. Then, about a month later, she would return with first-time collaborator Ty Dolla $ign on “Dream Girl”, a slick and dreamy cut about allowing yourself to fall for someone.

Finally, we would get “One Wish” with Childish Gambino, arguably the best and easily the most vulnerable track on the record. Here, Ravyn wrestles with her complicated relationship with her father. “Called me on my birthday / I thought you’d be on your way, oh / Candles burned down to the cake / Still not seeing your face… I can’t forgеt you / And I can’t hate you / No matter how hard I try“. On top of these, there’s still an even more vast soundscape to be had across Bird’s Eye. The closing “Days” presents a country/acoustic vibe to wind down to on the summer nights. “Candy” delivers more a smooth and wavy reggae vibe. Furthermore, we get hints of some early 2000s late 90’s R&B on “From Scratch”, especially instrumentally. Ravyn’s beats, writing, and vocals make for a more than memorable listen in the R&B genre this year.

Drake Shows Love To His Streaming Fans, Drops Off “100 GIGS” EP

It was bound to happen at some point. Drake has just put “It’s Up,” “Blue Green Red”, and “Housekeeping Knows”, aka 100 GIGS, on DSPs. All three songs were a part of 100 GB of numerous files, videos, and random clips that the Canadian icon decided to share with the world. All of this is available on 100gigs.org, a site he launched on August 6. As of now, we aren’t really sure what Drake’s plan is right now by releasing all of this content. Sure, he supposedly took the time to respond to A$AP Rocky’s subliminals on “It’s Up”. But as far as we can tell, none of his bars were digs at Kendrick Lamar.

21 Savage did seem to have his sights set on him on the track we just mentioned, though. The only slight indicator that shows that something is possibly brewing is an IG account that Drake follows. It goes by indigochild369 and in the user’s bio it reads, “First account made some people anxious. Here we go again round 2 “‘FIGHT’”. That message presumably alludes to the plottttwiistttttt page that Drake put together during this 100gigs.org rollout. This could all be a ploy to try and get under Lamar’s skin, which is something Drake did plenty of during “round one”. Obviously, though he would be quite foolish to do that again based on the results. But yes, as it stands, Drake is doing what he does best with this 100 GIGS release, and these next few weeks will be interesting to monitor.
