Rome Streetz & Daringer Drop Off Their Touted Collab Project “Hatton Garden Holdup”

Rome Streetz and Buffalo, New York producer Daringer have been reeling in quite a few curious ears lately. This unofficial duo has sneakily had hip-hop heads waiting for their collaboration project to drop. Well, Rome Streetz and Daringer have done just that this weekend, as Hatton Garden Holdup is now here. The London bred underground MC teased that him and his partner and crime had something serious cooking on his Instagram about three months ago. Accompanying a cold picture of them together was the caption, “We Been in the lab cooking up a batch,” Rome began. “Almost that time to put the slab out on the streetz… To put it real simple Rome Streetz and Daringer bout to Drop a Album and it’s a f***in scud missile… Stay tuned!!”

This got some serious attention, especially from fellow East Coast natives such as Conway the Machine, Westside Gunn, and more. Leading up to the tape, “Starbvxkz” and “Sage” featuring ScHoolboy Q just a few weeks before October 4. Overall, we can see why the hype for Hatton Garden Holdup was so real. Daringer is cooking on nearly every beat here. He’s able to create a luxurious, smoky, and grimy environment, which is perfect for an MC like Rome. His braggy and ultra-violent lyrics complement the various soundscapes that his beat maker lays down. Critics and causal listeners are raving about it as well, so be sure to get it on this ASAP.

Powers Pleasant Grabs 21 Different Features For “Life Sucks LP

Pro Era affiliate, producer, and DJ, Powers Pleasant, has delivered his sophomore project, Life Sucks. This the follow-up to the 30-year-old’s 2019 EP, Life Is Beautiful. That tape went on to feature the likes of now frequent collaborators Joey Bada$$ (Pro Era), Denzel Curry, A$AP Ferg, CJ Fly, Aaron Rose, Meechy Darko, and more. All of those same guests are now on Life Sucks, which can sort of be viewed as Powers Pleasant’s debut LP.

Leading up to the release of this tight 13-song tracklist, the Melt My Eyez See Your Future beat maker put out two singles. The first was the boastful and triumphant “Rumble” with Mr. Bada$$. Honestly, it should’ve been the tape’s opener, but Denzel Curry and Hannah Mundine’s “Entro” does the job too. Then, in September, Pleasant would deliver “Shmoke”, an East Coast trap/Jersey club mix that’s all gas and no brakes. In fact, that’s what most of this tape is. Plesant’s selection of guests (21 unique ones!) certainly helps make this a fun and easy-to-digest listening experience. Give it a spin with the links to your favorite streaming services below.

Tory Lanez Reissues One Of His Foundational Projects In “Lost Cause”

The theme for Tory Lanez in 2024 has been to revisit the good ole’ days. What we mean is that the Canadian rapper, singer, and producer has treated longtime fans to some of his older works that never got official releases. It started in early July with him dropping off “Lost Tapes” from various points in his over 10-year career. Just a few weeks later, Tory decided to give all of these songs a home on his “Free Tory Playlist”, which he announced via a prison phone call. In addition to that, “The Color Violet” MC would reveal that he was going to include some new songs from behind bars via the “Prison Tapes”. Sadly, they are currently discontinued until further notice. But this setback hasn’t deterred Tory Lanez because he’s still giving the people what they want with material like Lost Cause.

OG supporters will know what this is. But for those that don’t, this a 2014 mixtape that also never got to see the light of day on DSPs. It’s one of his earliest projects and in listening to it, you can certainly see how this helped lay the groundwork for what we know Tory’s sound to be today. That being the mixture of rap and R&B with some hints of alternative R&B. Lanez announced its rerelease in pretty emotional fashion on IG earlier this week by thanking Trina for helping make his music dreams reality. Check out the 10-year-old release (as of October 1), now.

Rich Homie Quan’s Estate Drops His First Posthumous Record “Forever Goin In”

Almost a month ago, Rich Homie Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, did an interview with AintYouMalcom. During their conversation, the rapper’s dad went onto to reveal that his son was close to releasing a new album. In fact, it was all done prior to his untimely death on September 5.  “Quan has probably 2000 unreleased songs. He has a catalog… He has a ton of music that the fans deserve to hear,” Lamar said. Well, 35 of the “200” are out today as the estate of Rich Homie Quan has released Forever Goin In.

Some of those 35 tracks were already out, such as “Ahi’chi” featuring 2 Chainz, and “Song Cry”, which is surprisingly not on the LP. On the surface, a lot of people may not check this out due to its sheer length. But there is a sentimental reason for there being 35 tracks. RHQ’s estate shared the project’s cover on his IG with the caption, “34 listed songs ironically that’s the age I… 🕊🙏🏿😔bonus 1 extra, because tomorrow will forever be a celebration!” It sure is a celebration and we are happy that his legacy is continuing to live on.

Tee Grizzley’s “Post Traumatic” Is His Most Ambitious Album To Date

Tee Grizzley has deceptive range as an artist. For someone who broke through with a hard-hitting sound, the rapper has proven that he can drop everything from lyrical miracles to sticky R&B melodies. His last few albums were concise in terms of tracklist, but they were also limited in scope. Post Traumatic, on the other hand, is sprawling. At 24 tracks, it is Tee Grizzley’s longest album to date, and it serves as the ideal showcase for all the different sounds and style he can convincingly pull off.

Post Traumatic starts off a bit show, but “Blow for Blow” gets the momentum going. From track three on, Tee Grizzley dishes out sample-based pop-rap on “All I Wanna Do.” He turns around and leans into hard trap tropes on the hooky “More Than Half.” Need more? How about a flirty R&B duet with Tink on “Ride or Die”? Post Traumatic keeps changing out the styles and featured artists while maintaining a cohesion and aesthetic consistency. It’s an impressive balance. Tee Grizzley sounds just as good opposite Future on the off-kilter “Swear to God” as he does Mariah the Scientist on “Situationship.” The length of Post Traumatic can be daunting, but even on shuffle, these various sounds cohere into a great listening experience.

Let us know what you think of this brand new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Sampha Somehow Makes “Lahai” Even Better With Four New Deluxe Cuts

Sampha doesn’t emerge from his cave very often, but when he does, it’s such a pleasure to witness him out in the wild. Even with his limited catalog, the London multi-hyphenate possesses one of the strongest amongst the rest of the talents in his playing field. Late last year, the feature powerhouse put out his sophomore album Lahai, which focuses a lot on family and big picture questions. He told NME, “I was just wondering about life and big questions, feeling the need to hold onto something or portray a bird’s eye view of my life because I felt like every day was going into every day”. The project certainly sounds as expansive as it’s themes, with sweeping and transformative instrumentals that evoke a sense of wonder and imagination.

We are almost exactly one year removed from it coming out and to help celebrate, Sampha has come through with the deluxe version of Lahai. There are four “new” songs to be had including the previously released “Satellite Business 2.0” featuring fellow UK artist and femcee, Little Simz. If there is a better fully fleshed out version of an interlude, we would like to hear it because this may be the best of its kind. Others include a more “aggressive” version of “Dancing Circles” with a “(2.0)” version, as well as “Re-Entry” and “Sensory Nectar”. Sampha says all of these tracks were either teased at shows and are evolutions of those live performances or are from the vault. Hint: These cuts make it even better.

RiTchie Links With Producer FearDorian For Six-Track EP “Quiet Warp Xpress”

It was just several months ago that RiTchie (Nathaniel Ritchie of Injury Reserve) began his solo career. The Phoenix, Arizona multi-genre talent did so by delivering “RiTchie Valens”. That would eventually go on to be the lead-off track for his solo debut album, Triple Digits [112]. The 14-song offering went on to receive some pretty decent reviews from fans and critics for its wild experimentation. It boasted features from the likes of Amine, Quelle Chris, and Niontay. After that, RiTchie decided to keep up the production just earlier this month with another single, “Cc Me”. For it, he recruited FearDorian, another fellow undergrounder who has been making some noise working with the likes of AyooLi and Polo Perks.

They put out their collaborative record, A Dog’s Chance, this past June. “Cc Me” would go on to serve as a lead single for this new joint EP between RiTchie and Dorian, Quiet Warp Xpress. This new duo would give us one more just a few days prior to this six-track effort’s release with the second-to-last cut, “Broke The Mold”. Both artists overall have very quirky and off-the-wall tendencies, so them linking for an extended play isn’t too surprising. However, what is a little shocking is the lack of cohesion and how rough it sounds. Reviews online are pointing to the loose song structures and nonchalant performances by RiTchie. We have to say we sort of agree with those opinions, sadly, However, we still want you to check out as much new music as possible so spin Quiet Warp Xpress and let us know what you think.

Kamaiyah Delivers An Easy & Breezy Listening Experience With “Before We Party”

Kamaiyah has a cult following and it’s for good reason. Overall, the Oakland, California native can give you all sorts of vibes at any given moment. She can go from funky West Coast bangers to more vibey and slowed down cuts. The latter is what she was delivering on her latest mini album, Figuring Out My Emotions. Overall, it was about all of the feelings she had dealt with recently. Her being able to switch up her style so effortlessly also leads to an exciting unpredictability factor. It seems that whenever she experiences some sort of mood swing, she becomes inspired to drop something new. That could be what has led Kamaiyah to drop off this new seven-track tape, Before We Party.

To us, this project feels like it’s here to tide fans over for something in the LP format. Part of our reasoning actual comes just from the title itself. However, the tracks are also contributing to that. Given that it’s just over 18 minutes long, Before We Party appears to be here for the vibes and no more than that. But to be honest, that’s not a bad thing, especially when its Kamaiyah the one bringing them. She’s someone you can almost always go to for crisply produced and fun tracks. That’s exactly what this is, and it does it very well. Kamaiyah sadly never got the same love as some of the bigger femcees, but that doesn’t bother us. She’s consistent as they come and it’s why we keep coming back to her projects no matter how big or small.

Leon Thomas Explains What It Means To Be A “MUTT” On His Second Album

From Nickelodeon’s Victorious to producing and writing for artists like SZA, Drake, Kanye West, and more, Leon Thomas has really seen everything. For some of us at HNHH, it’s hard to disassociate him from his character on the popular kid’s series when he’s writing heavily emotional and explicit tracks. But it just goes to show how much he’s grown in about a decade, and it may be safe to say Leon Thomas is at his most mature on MUTT. Yes, for those who don’t know, the Brooklyn, New York native also has a solo career. This is his second album and a follow-up to 2023’s Electric Dusk.

With this record, Leon Thomas focuses a lot on what his life and love have done to him mentally and emotionally. According to an interview he did with Uproxx, he explains how his dog was a source of inspiration for the themes and its title. “Perfecting that sound and just continuing to tell these stories as I’m a single guy doing my thing, trying to figure it out, trying to find love in a very interesting dating circus that we have right now”, Thomas says. “As I started working on the album in my new home, I began to notice similarities between my dog’s behavior and my own. Even though my dog may sometimes [make mistakes]… I know he means well. This became a metaphor for not being a perfect partner but having good intentions”. Those messages are strong, as are the production and feature choices. Check out MUTT now.

Monaleo Drops Off Her Sophomore LP “Throwing Bows”

Monaleo is one of the many new femcees looking to build a brand on being uber aggressive on all of their tracks. She’s someone who makes music for the ladies, particularly the single ones out there. Some artists that are trying to carve a niche in this area of rap tend to rely on having a unique voice, solid production, and sticky lyrics. The ones that do have pretty large audiences with some of them including GloRilla, Sexyy Red, and Latto. Sadly, there is quite a large sum of them out there who are still finding their footing. When it comes to rappers like that, they tend to sound like other’s that are most established.

Sadly, at the moment, Monaleo is coming across as that sort of artist on her latest LP, Throwing Bows. What the Houston native does have is good mic presence, but not enough of a discernable voice. In addition, some of her production choices are head scratchers. “Wam Bam” might be the biggest culprit of this, as the Brittney Spears “Toxic” has no place in a song this off the wall. Songs like this one, as well as “Ee-er” and “Flush Em”, have annoyingly repetitive choruses to the point where they come across as lazy. Overall, it’s still early for Monaleo. But for us, there’s too many miscues across the board here.
