Ralo Delivers His First Record Since Prison Sentence, “Welcome Home”

Ralo has certainly been through a lot over the last few years, but now he’s feeling better than ever now that Welcome Home is out. The Atlanta, Georgia mainstay was doing six years of time for drug conspiracy charges, and you could tell that around the time of his release, he was feeling all sorts of emotions. It didn’t help that he was remembering the loss of his close friend Marlo. “Marlo told me not to worry he was going to be the first person at the gate waiting on me when this s*** over. My release is in two weeks and I know life goes on, but this s*** aint da same as when we was passing this money around we was all happy and helping each other”.

However, as we said, Ralo was able to persevere and its why we have Welcome Home in front of us today. During our interview with him, he feels that this is what makes him tick as an artist and its why his fans mess with the way he goes about his music. “More people bought into me as a person, you know what I’m saying? Like, what I did for the community, what I do for the community, and you know, the way I was living, the way I was moving”. That earnestness is all over the 16-song tracklist, which has features from Key Glock, Big Moochie Grape, Yungeen Ace, and more. It’s great to have Ralo back in the game and we encourage you to check it out with the links below.

Benny The Butcher Drops Memorable Collabs On “Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1”

Benny the Butcher can spit. He sounds good on pretty much any kind of instrumental. The Griselda star just dropped an album called Summertime Butch. And yes, he managed to pull the ridiculous title off with an emphasis on gritty wordplay and hypnotic production. The trick with Griselda artists is figuring out how to keep their central appeal intact while broadening out. Benny the Butcher figured out a way to do just that on Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1. The answer? Bring in collaborators like Fabolous and Drake to spice things up. To the surprise of no one, the gambit worked.

Buffalo Freestyle,” the long-anticipated collaboration between Benny the Butcher and Drake, lives up to the hype. Both rappers sound immaculate over the contemplative production. Somehow, the beat feels is right in the wheelhouse of both Benny and Drake, despite their otherwise disparate styles. It’s the song that most fans are going to talk about, and rightfully so. The thing is, the other two songs on Buffalo Butch are also great. Fabolous absolutely skates over “Hard Way Freestyle.” The veteran rapper gets in his Soul Tape bag, and it works perfectly when blended with Benny the Butcher’s hard-nosed approach. “Penny and Shaq Freestyle” is the least memorable of the three, but Benny made the competition stiff. This is a great EP.

Travis Scott Finally Drops “Days Before Rodeo” On Streaming Platforms

Travis Scott has been a superstar for over a decade. Days Before Rodeo is a snapshot of the rapper before he became said superstar. It dropped in 2014, and provided the first real glimpse of the Scott’s psychedelic trap sound. There were pieces of it on Kanye West’s Yeezus, which Scott helped produce, but Days Before Rodeo was different. It married the experimentalism and grandiosity of Yeezus with the rapper/producer’s own unique sound. It paved the way for Travis Scott’s acclaimed debut, Rodeo. And it’s finally on streaming. Huncho Jack fans have won.

Days Before Rodeo, like Drake’s So Far Gone or Chance the Rapper’s Acid Rap, sounds fresh as the day it came out. It maintains the spark of an artist on the cusp of greatness. There’s a hunger to the mixtape that Scott’s later projects simply can’t match. Anybody who listens to “Drugs You Should Try It” in 2014 knew that the Houston rapper was special. And they were right. Days Before Rodeo sounds incredible a decade removed, thanks to the trippy anthems like “Mamacita” and “Quintana Pt. 2.” There’s definitely a rudimentary quality, but it only adds to the tape’s appeal. It’s revelatory to hear mixed and CGQ mastered versions of “Backyard” and “Grey,” especially with the knowledge of where Travis Scott would eventually take this sound. Sit back, listen, and enjoy. Then throw Rodeo on.

B.o.B Gets His Conspiracy Theory On With New Album “Space Time”

B.o.B has had a bizarre career trajectory. He broke out as a genre-hopping hitmaker. He then made a hard pivot into trap music and conspiracy theories. The rapper declared that the Earth was flat, and then dropped a diss track against astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Space Time, B.o.B’s latest album, sees him continue his conspiracy theory wave. The rapper decides to throw a tinfoil hat on and take shots at the structures that he believes are holding the public back. The opening track, “He Who Remains,” is a very fitting sampler of what’s to come. A radio broadcast detailing a UFO sighting blurs into a catchy beat in which B.o.B references Ozempic and his outsider status in the rap game.

B.o.B is still charismatic as ever on the microphone. The musical variety of his earlier albums is nowhere to be found, though. Instead, the rapper opts for a batch of instrumentals that sound like leftovers from Ab-Soul’s Do What Thou Wilt sessions. “Publicity” sports a trippy synth line reminiscent of an old scifi movie. B.o.B matches its off-kilter energy with a nimble flow. “Zoot” and “Bootstrap Paradox” are less pointed in their societal critiques than its the opening track suggests. That said, they are entertaining if taken on their own merits. “Like Me a Lot” is the best beat on the album, with a haunting vocal chant running throughout and an wistful horn riff. “Black Phillip” is a nine minute epic of a closer, with some inspired musical passages. It’s a shame Space Time isn’t as experimental as the song is overall, but it’s still worth checking out.

YK Osiris Takes A Heartfelt Lyrical Approach On New Album “Dear Fans”

YK Osiris has a naturally melodic flow. It was clear from the jump that he had a knack for crafting verses and songs that got stuck in the ears of fans. Well, at least, they did back in 2019. It’s been five long years since Osiris dropped his debut album, and now that he’s back with his sophomore release, fans will be curious to see if he can still deliver the goods. Dear Fans prove that the singer hasn’t lost a step. It’s a short album, at only eight tracks, but it showcases YK Osiris’ abilities without getting bogged down in filler. The lyrical content of Dear Fans is also more contemplative that his debut album. The title song sees Osiris admit that he feels disconnected from the fame he’s accrued.

The theme of dissatisfaction runs throughout the entire album. We’d be remiss to call it a concept album, but there’s definitely a cohesion to Dear Fans that’s worth noting. YK Osiris laments his own loneliness on “They Don’t Love You” and pines for less complicated romance on “Will and Jada.” The latter sounds like an R&B song pulled from the 2010s, with its propulsive beat and guitar solo. It sounds like YK Osiris doing his best impersonation of The-Dream, and it’s not half bad. “Deep” and “Woozy” are a bit more generic, leaning more into trap instrumentals than the proceeding tracks. Fortunately, Dear Fans gets momentum back on the back end of the tracklist. “Bonnie and Clyde” is a tried-and-true concept done well. “Time Goes By,” meanwhile, closes the album out on a gorgeous high note.

Quando Rondo Releases “Here For A Reason: In The Darkest Time” EP Amid Legal Troubles

Quando Rondo has been having a hard time staying out of trouble with the law throughout his career. Currently, the Savannah, Georgia rapper is awaiting a prison sentence after pleading guilty to his 2023 federal drug trafficking investigation. The charges included of drug conspiracy and participating in criminal street gang activity. His time behind bars will be determined on December 12, according to WTOC 11. He is currently facing a maximum of up to five years. However, it could have been 20 had he not accepted a plea deal in addition to pleading guilty to a lesser charge. That was a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute controlled substances.

While Quando Rondo is out on bond, he is sharing some a new EP, Here for a Reason: In The Darkest Time. Moreover, this is now another instance where he’s dropped material for his fans during his legal dilemmas. “Cash” was the most recent release, but it does not make the cut for Quando Rondo’s Here for a Reason. However, “Gotta Do Better & Pray”, an August 2 single, is on this five-song EP. Throughout the 14-minute listen, Quando Rondo is retelling his rough upbringing, how the police have it out for him and more. He even interpolates the iconic hook from 50 Cent’s “Many Men” on “Could’ve Been Me”. It seems that Quando Rondo is trying to paint himself in a more positive light but listen for yourself with the links below.

38 Spesh Delivers His Fourth Project Of 2024, “Mother & Gun”

38 Spesh, Rochester, New York rapper and producer, is always going to be active year in and year out. You can pencil him in for at least 2-3 projects every 12 months, and sometimes even more. With him dropping Mother & Gun, 38 Spesh is already over that quota, and there’s still about three and half months to go. This new 10-track offering follows up a trio of collaborative efforts that saw the veteran go behind the boards for. The most recent of them was Grafh’s God’s Timing, which dropped back on July 26. The other two works that Spesh has been involved in include The Musalini’s In God We Trust and Rasheed Chappell’s Checks & Balances.

Besides this being his first solo album of the year, 38 Spesh is also making this release a big deal content matter wise. When he announced Mother & Gun back over a week ago via social media, he mentioned how this record has lots of emotional weight. “Im dropping my album next Friday 8/16 and it’s called “Mother&Gun”. This is the most intimate and personal project I ever made. I can’t wait until yall hear it.” You’ll be able to feel that right away on the opener “Early Morning”. In some of the first few lines, Spesh mentions how this is a tribute to his late mother. Overall, the project also delves into resiliency, his past, and other personal anecdotes. See what all the hype is about with the links below.

NoCap Delivers His Hyped Up Second LP “Before I Disappear Again”

NoCap isn’t your typical rapper from the south. His delivery is definitely one of the aspects in his repertoire that sticks out the most. His drawn-out melodies and rap/singing style differentiate him from the rest of the pack of your standard trap MCs. Instrumentally speaking, he’s also quite unique. Guitars are a major piece to the puzzle, as well as piano keys, lowkey hi-hats and softer drums. He definitely works in some soul influence into his approach, too. All of these elements we just mentioned pop up on Before I Disappear Again, the sophomore LP from NoCap.

This project has been highly anticipated by his fanbase, and rightfully so. NoCap has put out some of his most successful and replayed singles ahead of this 23-song set. “Baby Drake” and “Yacht Party” are currently totaling over 2.3 million streams. Also teasing this project was the August 2 record, “Maliboo”. Also giving Before I Disappear Again some street cred so to speak are the features. French Montana, Quavo, his native contemporary, Rylo Rodriguez, as well as SoFaygo and his stylistic twin (in some respects), Sleepy Hallow, also land here. See what this project can do for you with the links below.

Tinashe Delivers Part Two Of Her Trilogy & Her Seventh Album “Quantum Baby”

Tinashe has once again been having a stellar stretch in her career. In 2023, the Lexington, Kentucky native put out a handful of addicting singles, those being sexually charged “Needs” and the pulsing “Talk To Me Nice”. Both went onto be promotional release for her eventual sixth album, BB/ANG3L. Easily one of her most consistent and concise records to date, it’s laid the groundwork for what she’s set out to do in 2024. Sure, the project was just seven cuts and 20 minutes, but sometimes, less is more. Fast forward to April 12 and Tinashe would go onto to drop her most viral single since 2014’s “2 On” with “Nasty”. The track has received some backlash, as most popular songs do.

But here, the R&B/pop balladeer seemed to blend those two genres to perfection like never before. The track hooks you right away with her trippy repetition of “I’ve been a nasty girl, nasty / I’ve been a nasty girl, nasty“. Then, when the simple but addicting drum pattern kicks in and you start dancing to it, it’s got you for good and it’s not letting go. Quite ironically, Tinashe’s new album, Quantum Baby, is quite the opposite of this single. More times than, you are getting more airy and experimental sound palettes. Examples of this include “Cross That Line”, “Red Flags”, and “Getting No Sleep”. Its hard to chose which is better, but Tinashe has another high-quality effort with Quantum Baby. This is now project number two in this ongoing trilogy and it’s her seventh album to date. Give it a try with the links below.

YG Finally Releases “JUST RE’D UP 3” Featuring Lil Yachty, Ty Dolla $ign, Saweetie, & More

YG has been in quite the mix-up over the past couple of days. Reportedly, a neighbor called the police as they were worried about loud noises coming from inside his and his girlfriend (?) Saweetie’s home. When authorities arrived, they quickly separated the two after an intense shouting match that thankfully didn’t involve any hands being thrown. Since then, fans are skeptical on how their relationship will move forward. However, YG doesn’t seem all that bothered after shutting down rumors and dropping his new album, JUST RE’D UP 3.

The California MC has been working toward this release over the last couple of months, leaving off single after single. The lead-off track was “KNOCKA”, which came out back in April. After, that YG would go on to give fans four more, including “STUPID” with Lil Yachty and Babyface Ray, “WEIRD”, and more. This is obviously now the third installment in his Just Re’d Up series, which started back at the early stages of the 2010s. Now, after about 11 years since number two, 3 is here. You can check it out with the links below and there are plenty of names attached to this album. Kaliii, Stunna Girl, Kalan.FrFr, Mustard, Larry June, and G Herbo are just few to list.
