As the youth say, Metro Boomin is outside. Not only is hit producer outside, he’s bringing his superstar friends Future and Don Toliver with him. The hip hop heavyweights linked up for the woozy yet epic music video for their collaborative song “Too Many Nights” off Metro Boomin’s latest album Heroes & Villains.
Co-directed by Boomin, Hidji World and Zac Facts the musicians show that if they’re going to work hard then they have to party equally as hard. In the late night into the wee hours of the morning shenanigans, the trio hop from a neon dancefloor, strip club, to the studio and more. Don Toliver keeps each location live showing off killer dance moves.
When asked by collaborating with the rapper, Boomin told GQ, “I told [Don Toliver], ‘Like 2001, you’ve got the Nate Dogg role.” The late singer Nate Dogg was famously know for delivering the perfect balance as a guest feature.
Later Boomin was sure to add, “You can still make great songs with them, but as a producer, it’s like, what are you bringing? You’ve got to break artists, you’ve got to bring new artists. That’s a big part of your duty.”
Fellow fashionable rapper A$AP Rocky makes a guest appearance in the visual. Another made an appearance in thoughts, Young Thug, as he is currented incarcerated. As the video closes, the group hold up t-shirt featuring the rapper’s picture with the word “FREE.”

It’s already been over four months since Metro Boomin’s HEROES & VILLAINS project landed, but still, the producer continues to share new visuals for the project’s 15 tracks. Others to already arrive include “Superhero” with Future, as well as “Creepin’ (Remix)” with The Weeknd, Diddy, and 21 Savage. His most recent effort finds the Atlanta native linking up with Hendrix once again, and also tapping Don Toliver to put together a lit music video for their “Too Many Nights” collaboration.
In the nearly three-and-a-half-minute-long clip, we see all three creatives in full party mode, bringing their energy to the dancefloor while singing and rapping for the camera. “I got it cool, for a ten / The bitch get loose, she tryna win,” the Cactus Jack artist croons early on in the song. “I beat up by the house, or beat her in / There’s forty in the couch, or let her spend.” For Future’s part, he closes “Too Many Nights” out with bars like “Bottega Veneta whenever you ride with me / It ain’t like I’m asking you to ride for free,” and “Too many nights, ’boutta crash (Skrrt) / Now I’m buyin’ the foreigns all cash.”

Young Thug may not have freedom right now, but he has friends on the outside supporting him. The rapper was arrested last May. He was been accused of trying to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. He was also accused of participating in criminal street gang activity. Additionally, Young Thug faced additional charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of prohibited weapons, among others. These charges were part of a larger 56-count grand jury indictment which names 28 people involved with the YSL “criminal street gang,” including fellow rapper Gunna. As many know, Gunna has been freed, but Young Thug’s case is still awaiting trial.
Young Thug is a rapper, singer, and songwriter hailing from Atlanta. He first gained recognition in 2013 with his mixtape 1017 Thug and has since released numerous projects, including his debut studio album So Much Fun in 2019. Young Thug’s music is popular in large part due to his singular style, which features both singing and rapping in a high-pitched, melodic flow. He has collaborated with a range of artists across various genres, including Future, Travis Scott, and Camila Cabello.
Young Thug’s Friends Call For His Release
In an Instagram post on Metro Boomin’s account, several of Young Thug’s friends posed with a “Free Young Thug” shirt. Don Toliver, Metro Boomin, and A$AP Rocky are all included in the picture. The caption reads, “Free Jeff till Jeff free!!” Jeff is Young Thug’s government name. Whether or not “Jeff” will be free remains to be seen. It isn’t all bad, though.
Although the rapper originally could have faced up to 65 counts, he was only charged with 8. The charges include conspiracy to violate the RICO act, participation in criminal street gang activity, and possession of both marijuana and codeine with intent to distribute. Those certainly aren’t light charges. Young Thug was briefly allowed freedom recently to attend his sister’s funeral. Even if the rapper does win in court, the result is likely still somewhat far off. Jury selection is still underway and has been hit with several roadblocks. Most recently, a potential juror was jailed for filming the court room. Here’s hoping Young Thug can come out on top once the trial begins.
Metro Boomin, a producer with a Diamond certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination, has teamed up with MLB Network to appear in its Opening Day programming in 2023.
The piece will be broadcast throughout the MLB Network’s extensive studio programming starting at 9 a.m. ET today (Thursday), an award-winning platform for MLB content. The opening, which is set to the songs “On Time” and “Trance” from the HEROES & VILLAINS album, draws on Metro Boomin’s love of baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals and compares the process of writing new music to players getting ready for a 162-game regular season.
At one point in the video, Metro Boomin says, “But all throughout, you gotta be true to yourself. Inject that flavor that makes what you’re creating different from everything anyone else has ever come up with.”
The opening features a number of shots and highlights of Major League Baseball’s seasoned veterans and up-and-comers, including Julio Rodriguez (Seattle Mariners), Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Angels), Justin Verlander (NY Mets), and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (Miami Marlins).
“You can’t beat this time of year. Everybody’s staring at 162. 162 chances to make that beautiful music you can’t get anywhere else. Play ball.”
The other day, Metro Boomin tweeted a teaser about him and JID working together with the caption, “Got a lot of new music but when me and @JIDsv drop,” followed by a lot of fire and one crazy-looking face emojis.
“I love working with u brudda, it’s an honor,” JID replied. Metro returned the sentiment right back, adding, “Honor is mine family.”
Rap 301 eventually picked the news up, reposting the tweet and adding, “Metro Boomin Teases His Song With JID… You Hyped For This?” JID himself then chimed in to set the record straight — confirming that it wouldn’t just be one song coming, but an entire collaborative album. “Teases album*,” he wrote.
While details about this joint project are still under wraps, many fans are extremely excited by the announcement. Additionally, Metro is also gearing up to drop a different collab album with Future sometime later this year, according to an interview with Flaunt via HipHopDX.
“Bro deadass don’t be lying right now, imma cry when this drops,” one wrote. “Don’t even joke…I need all jid and metro today,” another added.
Others threw in some jokes asking for the WiFi password to hear the album early.

Metro Boomin is fresh off of his sophomore album while J.I.D is a few months removed from The Forever Story. However, it appears that the next move in their itineraries is new music together. The Savage Mode II producer took to Twitter where he shared a photo of himself and the Spillage Village artist in the studio. “Got a lot of new music coming but when me and @JIDsv drop,” he wrote along with several fire emojis and an emoji with spiral eyes. Though they didn’t confirm a release date, we’re hoping that this is something they’re planning to release this summer.
Though some thought it could be a one-off single, it turns out that the two of them are locking in for a joint project. Metro Boomin confirmed that they’re actually working on a collaborative project, though he didn’t reveal whether it’s a full-length or an EP. Afterward, J.I.D tweeted, “I love working with u brudda, it’s an honor.” In response, Metro Boomin wrote, “Honor is mine family.” A release date nor a title has been revealed just yet but we could imagine that this could be arriving sometime.

Days before that, Lou Spill of Spillage Village claimed they were working on “the craziest shit I’ve heard in a minute. “Watchin em work it’s like they both respect each other’s craft so much they both goin crazy to make sure they do each other justice,” he said.
Beyond his collaborative project with J.I.D., Metro Boomin has a few other projects in the works to look forward to.
