Megan Thee Stallion And GloRilla Want To Drop A Joint Album: ‘It Feels Like It’s Going to Get Done’

Megan Thee Stallion’s 2024 got off to a fractious start, with her January single “Hiss” not only touching off a short-lived battle with Nicki Minaj, but also setting a quarrelsome tone for seemingly all of hip-hop for the first quarter. However, she’s not letting that belligerent energy define her entire year. During her tour with GloRilla earlier this year, the two Southern stars celebrated the sisterhood of hip-hop, inviting Latto, Cardi B, and more to join them in a series of shows of mutual appreciation.

That positive energy could carry over to a new project from Meg with Glo, as they carry over the good vibes from their “Wanna Be” collaboration to a full project. In her new cover story for Billboard, Meg and Glo both expressed enthusiasm for the idea of a joint album. Megan said, “I think that would be very fire. I ain’t gon’ say too much, but it feels like it’s going to get done.” Meanwhile, Glo explained why such a project has them both excited. “Megan is a real rapper, and I’m also a real rapper,” she said. “We actually be talking and coming with bars on some down South gangsta sh*t. [It would be] some down South, real turnt, real rap [sh*t].”

Megan Thee Stallion can’t explain how to reconcile her beef with Nicki Minaj, because she doesn’t know how it started in the first place. In a new interview with Billboard, Meg admitted she doesn’t know why Minaj turned on her, and that she only spent the early part of the year exchanging diss songs with her former collaborator because she “knew what I had to do and what I had to say.”

“I still to this day don’t know what the problem is,” she confessed when asked about a potential reconciliation between the two rappers. “I don’t even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don’t know what the problem is.”

For what it’s worth, Meg and Nicki certainly started their relationship on a good note, teaming up to rap together on Meg’s 2019 single “Hot Girl Summer.” The song peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the US Rhythmic chart — Meg’s first and Nicki’s eighth. However, in 2022, Nicki recalled taking umbrage at a joke Megan made during a party, which ultimately led to their falling out (although, I gotta say… that’s the sort of thing you have a conversation about, not hold onto for five years and make a slew of diss tracks about).

Meanwhile, some fans believe Nicki actually turned on Meg when her 2020 collaboration with Nicki’s rival Cardi B, “WAP,” turned out to be much more successful, spending four non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, and becoming one of the most buzzed-about songs of that year. Minaj took some apparent shots at Meg on her 2023 single, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.”

Nicki and Meg opened 2024 with back-and-forth diss songs, beginning with Meg’s lead Megan single, “Hiss,” which addressed a number of her other detractors at the same time. Nicki responded with “Big Foot,” but the lukewarm response to the song — and Nicki’s accompanying days-long Twitter rant — caused the “beef” to fizzle out quickly. Still, it set the tone for the year, which has seen skirmishes between Ice Spice and Latto, and Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

2024 MTV VMAs Host Megan Thee Stallion Is Also Performing At The Ceremony, She Just Announced

It turns out that in addition to hosting the 2024 MTV VMAs, Megan Thee Stallion will also be performing.

Meg revealed the news today (September 3), writing on social media, “Hotties not Onlyyyy am I your lovely host for the evening at the 2024 @vmas IM ALSOOO PERFORMINGGGG.”

This news comes just days after Meg announced a new collaborative single with BTS member RM coming out soon, so perhaps that tune will make her VMAs setlist. She said of the song, “This is one of my favorite RM verses I’ve heard. I’ve never heard him rap in this style before.” “Mamushi,” for which Megan just released a surreal new video, would also seemingly be a candidate for the performance slot.

Megan is nominated in five categories: Best Collaboration (“Wanna Be” with GloRilla), and Best Hip Hop, Best Visual Effects, Best Direction, and Best Art Direction (all for “Boa”). She’s behind nominations leader Taylor Swift, who has 10 nods, as well as Post Malone with nine and Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, and Ariana Grande with six each.

The list of performers this year also includes Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Lisa, Halsey, Benson Boone, Lenny Kravitz, and Katy Perry (who is also receiving the Video Vanguard Award).

The 2024 VMAs are set to air on MTV on September 11 at 8 p.m. ET.

A Megan Thee Stallion And RM Song Has Been Confirmed As The Rapper’s Previously Teased BTS Collaboration

Megan Thee Stallion isn’t done collecting international collaborations. The “Down Stairs DJ” rapper might’ve hard launched her latest boo, but on August 30, she bread crumbed her next BTS collaboration.

Today (September 1), Megan Thee Stallion finally revealed the details surrounding the upcoming track. Over on X (formerly Twitter), Megan announced that her forthcoming song with BTS is actually a single with member RM.

“NEVA PLAY WITH RM OUT FRIDAY HOTTIES X ARMY #MEGJOON,” she wrote.

She then went on to promise big things regarding “Neva Play.”

“PS. This is one of my favorite RM verses I’ve heard, she wrote. “I’ve never heard him rap in this style before .”

Although BTS (and by association its members) are known for producing K-pop bangers, this won’t mark the first time they’ve dappled into rap. For RM that includes his album, Right Place, Wrong Person, which dropped in May.

This forthcoming record follows Megan Thee Stallion’s 2021 guest verse on BTS’ “Butter Remix.” At the time, the song’s rollout was reportedly nearly derailed after Megan Thee Stallion’s former label, 1501 Entertainment, supposedly attempted to block its release. It appears this go around is flowing much smoother.

Megan Thee Stallion And BTS Are Set To Reunite On A New Collaboration, But It’s Not Clear Exactly Who’s Involved

Megan Thee Stallion and BTS linked up back in 2021 on a remix of BTS’ massive hit “Butter.” Now, Megan and the group (or at least some of the group) are getting ready to reunite, although there’s currently some mystery involved.

Yesterday (August 29), Megan tweeted, “[horse emoji]X[purple heart emoji] [eyes emoji].” Today, the official BTS account quote-tweeted Meg’s post and added, “[horse emoji]X[porcupine emoji]([koala emoji]) Coming Soon! [purple heart emoji][eyes emoji].”

The horse is of course a stand-in for Megan, and according to BTS fans, the panda represents RM. Furthermore, Megan just added RM’s song “Lost!” to her Instagram profile. But, there appears to be uncertainty about the meaning of the hedgehog. Given the formatting of BTS’s tweet, the song may be a collaboration between Megan and another performer, with RM as a featured artist.

Megan, meanwhile, has kept busy lately. She released her video for “Mamushi” earlier this month, she was named the host of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, and it looks like she’s now in a relationship with NBA veteran Torrey Craig. As for BTS, they’ve been on a hiatus for the past couple years, but it hasn’t been much of a break, as the group’s members have remained industrious.

Craig is a 6’7″, 33-year-old NBA player, originally from South Carolina. He’s currently a member of the Chicago Bulls, spending the 2023-24 season as a role player for the team, and he’s on contract for the upcoming 2024-25 season as well. He played his first three seasons in the league (beginning with 2017-18) with the Denver Nuggets, then had stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers, and the Suns again, before landing with the Bulls.

Craig has a son, Braylon, who was born in 2014. Craig was also part of a noteworthy Shaqtin’ moment last season. Despite the blooper, though, Craig is generally respected for his defensive abilities. Meanwhile, he generated some attention in 2023 when Bucks star (and former teammate) Giannis Antetokounmpo inadvertently knocked out one of his teeth during a game.

In 2022, Craig launched The Tory Craig Foundation, which according to its website is “committed to driving transformative change across generations by investing in communities and equipping at-risk children with the tools and resources they need reach their full potential.”

In recent times, Megan Thee Stallion has appeared to be single. Well, at the moment, that appears to no longer be the case, as she just seemingly hard-launched a relationship with veteran NBA player Torrey Craig.

As HotNewHipHop notes, yesterday (August 27), Meg posted a couple’s challenge video on TikTok (find it here), in which she and Craig answer questions about their relationship. (For the record, Craig said “I love you” first, per Meg.)

The 33-year-old athlete spent the 2023-24 NBA season as a role player for the Chicago Bulls. He played his first three seasons in the league (starting with 2017-18) with the Denver Nuggets before stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers, and the Suns again, then landing with his current team, the Bulls.

Craig has a son, Braylon, who was born in 2014. He was also partially responsible for a memorable Shaqtin’ moment earlier this year.

In more platonic news, Megan and GloRilla recently spoke about their friendship, with Glo saying, “I first met you at your Hottieween party last year, and I ain’t gonna lie, I was kinda shy. You were just acting like you weren’t drinking that night. I was like… in my head, I’m like, ‘This b*tch ain’t acting like she ain’t drinking,’ like, ‘What’s up with this b*tch?’”

Last night, Meg posted a new couple’s challenge TikTok in which she was laid up with Chicago Bulls player, Torrey Craig. The 33-year-old has played for numerous teams throughout his career, and now, he is the highest-profile relationship of his life.

Despite the TikTok, fans still know very little about this relationship. It’s impossible to tell when and where they may have met. Moreover, it is still unknown how long they’ve been together. What we do know, however, is that the two look happy. Unfortunately, the internet does what it does best in these types of situations. Phillip Leeds, a mainstay within the music and fashion industries compiles eights years of original photography in BIG SHOTS!! Volume 2. Over 500 color Polaroid pictures of household names are archived in this new edition, out today courtesy of Blurring Books, the Brooklyn-based publisher.

Over the weekend, Phillip Leeds hosted the a BIG SHOTS!! launch party in Los Angeles in partnership with lifestyle brand Pleasures. The collaboration between Leeds & Pleasures was a continuation of events from earlier this year’s preview at Paris Fashion Week. The author brings BIG SHOTS!! to his hometown of New York City on September 11th with Awake NY. Other dates to be announced soon via @BigShotsBook.

In 2017, Phillip Leeds released the critically-acclaimed & wildly popular book BIG SHOTS! (Rizzoli) Described at the time as capturing a generation of artists and celebrities just as Andy Warhol: Red Books defined a previous era.
