Eminem Disses Megan Thee Stallion On New Single “Houdini”

Eminem is back in Slim Shady mode. There are lots of different ways to tell. For one, the rapper’s new album will be called The Death of Slim Shady. The music video for his lead single, “Houdini,” features the classic, bleach blond Slim in action. The most telling side effect of a Slim Shady sighting, however, is the lyrical insult. Eminem’s alter ego loves to take shots at his peers, his predecessors, and pretty much any other person he can think of. He targets multiple people in “Houdini,” but the most notable is far and away Megan Thee Stallion.

Eminem turned the zaniness up to ten on the new single. He tells Dr. Dre to “f*ck off,” and does to the same to his children (one of whom just got married). Both Dre and his family are been topics of scorn and adoration over the years, however. Megan Thee Stallion is someone new. The rapper flipped a line about scoring a guest verse from Megan into a double entendre about Tory Lanez shooting her in the foot. “If I was to ask for Megan Thee (What?) Stallion if she would collab with me,” he raps. “Would I really have a shot at a feat? (Haha). I don’t know, but I’m glad to be back like.”

Eminem Mocks Megan Thee Stallion’s Shooting Injury

It’s a clever turn of phrase, but a topic that has not been received by the hip-hop community. Rappers who have poked fun at Megan Thee Stallion have either been scored by fans or Megan herself, in the form of a diss. Megan managed to win her battle with Nicki Minaj while dropping a number one single, “HISS,” in the process. The diss song, which dropped in January, is actually relevant to the current Em situation. Megan Thee Stallion made an oblique reference to Slim Shady on “HISS.” “I feel like Mariah Carey (Mariah Carey),” she rapped. “Got these n**has so obsessed (Damn).”

The line is meant to address Megan’s haters, but it’s also a reference to the 2008 Mariah Carey diss song “Obsessed.” The target of Mimi’s diss was, infamously, Eminem. The tension between the pop superstar and the rapper ran throughout the 2000s, and many feel like the former won out with a hit single. Eminem dissing Megan Thee Stallion over a subliminal actually makes a lot of sense. Eminem knows how to hold a grudge against rappers who slight him. He waited years to respond to MGK on record, and when he did, he demolished the pop-punk artist. It’ll be interesting to see if Megan Thee Stallion decides to respond.

7 Albums Apple Music Missed On Its 100 Best Albums List

Apple Music’s Best 100 Albums list has successfully polarized the internet, and maybe that was the plan all along. The list does a fine job of highlighting many projects worthy of recognition. However, there are plenty of albums that were snubbed in the process, leading many to question the criteria behind their top 100 albums of all time. Firstly, R&B albums are barely on that list. Secondly, some albums were snubbed in favor of other less impactful works from the same artist. A primary example is Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city which was shockingly chosen in favor of To Pimp A Butterfly.

Finally, there are defining albums that shifted the stratosphere of music that Apple Music conveniently left out. Unsurprisingly, there are projects on that list that many believe are simply meant to pander to younger audiences. As a result, legendary bodies of work were pushed to the side. Too many important artists were sidelined, including the following seven, which will forever remain a shock.

7. Songs In A MinorAlicia Keys

While R&B was greatly excluded from Apple Music’s 100 Albums, the exclusion of this album still came as a shock. Songs In A Minor remains one of the most influential albums of the 2000s. Alicia Keys’ debut album set the stage for her illustrious music career. Infused with elements of neo-soul, Keys shines through the album. Ignoring the album that birthed the tracks “Fallin’” and “A Woman’s Worth” is certainly a bold decision.

6. Full MoonBrandy

Let’s get one thing straight: Apple Music would have been spoiled for choice with Brandy’s discography. However, they refused to include a single album from The Vocal Bible. The legacy of Full Moon cannot be denied and helped shape the future of R&B. This influential masterpiece of an album also definitely deserved a spot on Apple Music’s 100 Albums list, which begs the question of whether the platform has any respect for R&B at all.

5. Long Live The Kane – Big Daddy Kane

While Apple Music’s 100 Albums list is littered with Hip Hop projects, it’s hard to deny the obvious pandering to mainstream audiences. After all, several iconic, yet grossly underrated Hip Hop projects were overlooked. One of these is Long Live The Kane by Big Daddy Kane. Following this release in 1988, the golden age of Hip Hop would never be the same again. With a nasty flow, and armed with the wittiest lyricism and rhyming patterns, Big Daddy Kane’s debut album birthed an entire generation of rappers.

4. Whitney Houston – Whitney Houston

Perhaps one of the biggest shocks was the exclusion of The Voice. With a nickname like that, you should not be exempt from any list that celebrates music as a whole. Even today, Whitney Houston remains the gold standard for vocalists across the globe. While the record-smashing The Bodyguard soundtrack album is also a strong contender, her self-titled debut album was the masterpiece that unleashed the force of Whitney unto the world. Notably, it was also the foundation for the careers of many artists after her. Whitney Houston’s debut album influenced several mainstream acts of today, including Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Hudson, and more. It really doesn’t make sense for it to be excluded from any other list highlighting the “best.”

3. Tha Carter III – Lil Wayne

Another defining and influential rapper left off Apple Music’s Best 100 Albums list is Tunechi. Lil Wayne raised a generation of rappers, and his exclusion understandably resulted in backlash. After the success of Tha Carter II, all eyes were on Lil Wayne for Tha Carter III. Not only did he surpass expectations, Tha Carter III remains one of the best-selling rap albums of all time. A milestone album in his career, this project holds a place in the hearts of several millennials across the globe.

2. ButterflyMariah Carey

When you’ve been dubbed The Songbird Supreme, there should be no question of your validity as one of the world’s best. Mariah Carey, ironically, influenced most of the women on Apple Music’s Best 100 Albums list. That’s why her exclusion has left a sour taste in several mouths. Her Daydream album helped popularize Pop-Rap collaborations, and The Emancipation of Mimi is widely regarded as a comeback album for the ages. However, it was with Butterfly that Mariah fully immersed herself and her fans into a world of Hip Hop and R&B. A defining and impactful album of the 90s, this record served as a musician taking control of her art, and excelling at it.

1. All Eyez On Me2Pac

2Pac’s final album before his death remains a significant project in the overall sphere of music. The rapper was at his most confident, seamlessly detailing his contrasting life. Although a double-length album, there’s nothing overdone on this project, and it goes to show why 2Pac is widely considered by many to be the greatest of all time. To exclude All Eyez on Me from such a list is a huge mistake.

Mariah Carey Shared The Songwriting Secret That Makes Her Hits So Relatable

Mariah Carey may not have made onto Apple Music’s 100 Best Albums Of All Time list — a fact that disappointed plenty of music fans — but she’s still widely considered one of the best recording artists around. In a new clip from Audible’s Words + Music podcast, the ultra-relatable chanteuse shared one of the secrets to her wide appeal and longevity: Avoiding the sort of specificity fans often look for in pop music.

According to Rolling Stone, Carey explained, “One thing that’s something I try to do is to not really get super specific because I don’t want somebody else not to be able to take the lyrics I’ve written and have them heal themselves and have those lyrics pertain to whatever situation they’re going through.”

“Oftentimes, it might be super personal to me,” she continued. “But I leave it basic, so it can also be somebody else’s way of releasing whatever emotional feelings or whatever they’re going through.” This approach relates back to Carey’s youth, and how she engaged with the music she grew up listening to. “I’d be like, ‘That’s my song,’” she said. “Just because one little part, to me, as a teenager, I’d be like, ‘That’s exactly what I’m going through.’ I have no idea what the person who wrote those lyrics meant by that, but for me, at the time, it was all about me.”

Muni Long Works Alongside R&B Legend Mariah Carey For Remix Of “Made For Me”

Muni Long had quite the year in 2023. The Vero Beach, Florida R&B talent went on to win the GRAMMY award for Best R&B Performance for her breakthrough hit “Hrs & Hrs.” Then, to further cement her status and capabilities as a writer, she came through and followed that up with “Made For Me.” Her passionate performance over the Jermaine Dupri-assisted, piano-backed instrumental stunned. So much so, that it is now her most popular song to date.

Because of this, Muni has put out various versions of the track such, with remixes being plentiful. The first rendition we received came back in February with a “Soul Train Performance Live.” The remixes snowballed quickly and Muni seemingly tried to prove to us all that this song is extremely versatile. From amapiano, to a club-esque twist with Lil Jon, to a BNYX edition show its Jersey Club capabilities, we have truly gotten every flavor.

Now, Mariah Carey is joining Muni Long for the seventh different take on this R&B smash hit. Adding Mariah was a smart move, especially with this song’s callback to the 90s. Mariah opts for a deeper delivery, as opposed to her iconic soprano vocals. Check out the remix for “Made For Me” up above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new remix of “Made For Me” by Muni Long and Mariah Carey? Do you think they should collaborate more going forward? Quotable Lyrics:

Touchin’ your body, I’m so satisfied
Caught in my feelings whenever you go
Never found love ’til you and I didn’t know, and I
I didn’t really believe someone like me
Someone so lonely and broken as I
Could ever be someone to share all of my life

Mariah Carey Gives Her Stamp Of Approval To Muni Long’s ‘Made For Me’ Hit With A New Remix

We saw her do it once with “Hrs And Hrs” and now Muni Long is back at it again with another R&B hit on her hands thanks to “Made For Me.” The song was released last fall and it bcame a quick success as the record traveled everywhere, from TikTok videos to parties all over. Just like “Hrs And Hrs,” “Made For Me” is a record dedicated to a partner who provides the perfect love to their companion. As if the song wasn’t good enough already, it now gets an awesome boost thanks to a new remix with the legendary Mariah Carey.

The new track begins with Carey’s signature high-pitched whistle before Muni Long arrives for the song’s original first verse and chorus. Carey then reappears for the song’s second verse which matches the energy and direction of the original version of the song. Together, Muni Long and Mariah Carey are deep in love and it’s a sweet thing to hear.

The remix arrives as Carey is a month removed from completing the first leg of the Mariah Carey: The Celebration Of Mimi Live In Las Vegas residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live. As for Long, she was among the performers who took the stage at Mary J. Blige’s Strength Of A Woman Festival earlier this month.

In February, the nominees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s 2024 class were revealed. It was a stacked and diverse roster, featuring everybody from Mariah Carey to Ozzy Osbourne to A Tribe Called Quest.

Now, all the votes are in (including those of Uproxx’s own Steven Hyden), and last night (April 21), the Rock Hall revealed who’s getting in this year. The list is as follows:

Performer Category

Mary J. Blige
Cher
Dave Matthews Band
Foreigner
Peter Frampton
Kool & The Gang
Ozzy Osbourne
A Tribe Called Quest

Musical Influence Award

Alexis Korner
John Mayall
Big Mama Thornton

Musical Excellence Award

Jimmy Buffett
MC5
Dionne Warwick
Norman Whitfield

Ahmet Ertegun Award

Suzanne de Passe

The “performer” inductees are the ones selected by Rock Hall voters, while the other honors are doled out by the Rock Hall themselves.

As for nominees who didn’t end up get the votes for induction this year, that list includes Mariah Carey, Jane’s Addiction, Sade, Sinead O’Connor, Oasis, Lenny Kravitz, and Eric B. & Rakim.

Liam Gallagher presumably won’t be too upset about Oasis not making the cut this time around. After his band’s nomination was announced, he tweeted, “F*ck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS,” as well as other things like, “I don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”
