Lul G Sentenced To 21 Years In Prison For First-Degree Murder

Former member of Vallejo, California rap group SOB x RBE, Lul G, received a 21-year prison sentence for first-degree murder this week, according to reports from the East Bay Times. Moreover, the rapper pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter, thus raising expectations that his sentence would last 21 years given the charges and previous court proceedings. Authorities arrested the West Coast artist, real name George Harris, back in 2019 and faced charges of first-degree murder in connection to the death of a Vallejo man, 26-year-old Rashied Flowers. Furthermore, the plea deal excused him from serving an extended 50-year sentence if officials found him guilty.

Unfortunately for Lul G, legal issues plagued him from the onset of his career alongside his group co-members. During a cover story for THE FADER back in 2018 along with SOB x RBE, he spoke on his struggles with the probation system that stemmed from armed robbery and gun charges since he was 17 years old. “They’ve been making it difficult,” he expressed. “Like, it’ll be a big opportunity that none of us will probably ever see again in our lives and they’ll just tell me, ’No.’ Straight up. It’s like, basically, y’all want me to lose my career, so I have nothing, so I’m forced to do stuff that’ll have me stuck in this system.”

When Harris pleaded no contest to the crime, Deputy Public Defender Max Fuentes spoke to XXL about the upcoming sentence back in March of this year. “It is accurate that Mr. Harris plead [no contest] to voluntary manslaughter and will be serving 21 years in prison in relation to the 2019 shooting death of Mr. Flowers,” he remarked. “All I can say at this point is that [Deputy Public Defender] Ms. Tanasa and myself feel honored to be representing Mr. Harris, as well as fortunate to have secured this plea deal on his behalf.” The 24-year-old admitted to using his own gun in the incident, which resulted in a shortened sentence.

Meanwhile, other members of SOB x RBE continued their careers in various ways. For example, Yhung T.O. and DaBoii dropped a collaborative project Demon & Mufasa featuring Snoop Dogg. The group’s members’ futures remain to be seen, and we will surely know how other members react to this ordeal soon. For more news and the latest updates on SOB x RBE and Lul G, come back to HNHH.

SOB x RBE’s Lul G To Be Sentenced To 21 Years In Prison For Fatal Shooting

It’s been confirmed that Vallejo rapper Lul G will not be charged with murder, but it is likely that he will be spending at least 21 years behind bars for a shooting that left a man dead back in 2019.

Lul G, whose real name is George Harris, will spend 21 years in prison for his role in the 2019 shooting death of 26-year-old Rashied Flowers. Lul was arrested within two months of the killing, but took a plea deal of no contest to involuntary manslaughter this past Thursday,

It was confirmed by Harris’ attorney that he will receive the 21-year sentence, but the sentencing isn’t scheduled until May. Because Harris held a previous felony conviction, he dodged a possible life sentence by accepting the voluntary manslaughter plea deal.

Prosecutors allege that Harris, Flowers and other friends were at a Fairfield, California home for a video shoot when a dice game began, which led to an argument between Harris and Flowers. Harris reportedly shot Flowers in the garage of the home.

Harris originally plead not guilty to the first degree murder charge.

The Vallejo rapper was a founding member of the SOB x RBE hip-hop collective. About two years after forming the group, Lul G inked a solo deal with Def Jam Records.

“It is accurate that Mr. Harris plead [no contest] to voluntary manslaughter and will be serving 21 years in prison in relation to the 2019 shooting death of Mr. Flowers,” Fuentes relays. “All I can say at this point is that [Deputy Public Defender] Ms. Tanasa and myself feel honored to be representing Mr. Harris, as well as fortunate to have secured this plea deal on his behalf.” Lul G—real name George Harris—admitted he used his own gun during the murder in California’s Solano County Superior Court, which helped to lessen the rapper’s time in prison. He will be formally sentenced on May 22, 2023.
