DJ Self Answers If He Thinks He Discovered Cardi B, Says She Never Thanked Him

Anyone who watched Love & Hip Hop during Cardi B’s reign remembers her relationship with DJ Self. The pair seemed to have a love-hate thing going on, and at the time, Cardi was an aspiring artist moving from the strip club to the microphone. She enlisted help from her industry contacts, including famed Power 105.1 radio host DJ Self. However, on-screen, it looked as if they were mixing business with pleasure, and it was suggested that Self made promises to help Cardi’s career by playing her tracks on the radio.

The unscripted series followed the storyline as it unraveled. Cardi was frustrated because Self wasn’t fulfilling his oaths, and in the end, they went their separate ways. Obviously, Self’s apprehension didn’t stop the “WAP” hitmaker from pushing forward, even eventually earning herself her first Grammy. In an interview with My Expert Opinion, Self speaks on his relationship with the Rap star.

Did DJ Self Discover Cardi B?

For a moment, the conversation shifted to whether or not Self believes he’s responsible for discovering Cardi. “When you use that word discover, that’s a strong word with discover,” the DJ stated. “You can’t discover something that is there. I put the magnifying glass on her.” Elsewhere, Self said that Cardi didn’t thank her for his help but admitted that he may not have done anything for her music career.

The My Expert Opinion hosts seemed confused about why Cardi wouldn’t thank him. “I put her on television. I didn’t put her in a record deal,” said Self. Still, the hosts believed that he opened up a platform for her to be visible on a famed franchise, thus setting her up for success.

Cardi Calls Love & Hip Hop Storyline Fake

Back in 2018, while discussing Love & Hip Hop, Cardi told her Instagram followers that her storyline with Self was fake. The rapper admitted that the controversy was all for ratings, but it didn’t come as a surprise. Although these shows are categorized as “reality,” the industry has long touted them as “unscripted.” This means most of the time, they’re given a storyline that they improvise during filming. Check out DJ Self above and see what he says about Jim Jones being the only artist to thank him.

Tory Lanez Demands Prince From “L&HH” To Sit For Deposition In Assault Case

Tory Lanez and his legal team recently demanded that Prince of Love & Hip Hop: Miami fame sit down for a deposition after the latter’s accusations against him. Moreover, according to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Lanez’s lawyers asked a judge in Miami court to force Prince to show up to the proceeding. Furthermore, this follows Prince’s lawsuit against the Canadian rapper for assault. Going off his testimony, Lanez allegedly attacked him with assistance from his crew on two separate occasions.

First, the “Say It” star, according to Prince’s testimony, punched him in the face after a verbal altercation in 2019. Said incident took place at the nightclub LIV on November 8th, located near Miami Beach. Not only that, but the reality star said Tory’s entourage also jumped him afterwards, and he alleged that it caused blunt trauma to his back, neck, and chest. However, nightclubs proved to be a common factor, at least from Prince’s side of the story. Moreover, he alleged later in 2020 that he ran into Lanez again at a separate Miami nightclub. Much like his last accusation, he said that the artist punched him in the face.

“Immediately after punching [Prince] in the face, [Tory’s] employee/agent fled and attempted to enter [Tory’s] vehicle,” the lawsuit stated. “However, [Tory] yelled at the agent/employee and instructed him to leave the premises in a separate vehicle.” Still, Lanez argued that his actions were in self-defense and moved to dismiss. Furthermore, Lanez later asked the court to uphold a settlement that Prince allegedly signed, though he says the artist pressured him into doing so. “He told me not to contact my lawyer when I told him I needed my lawyer to review the agreement,” the Miami native stated. Also, he said that he found Tory with an armed member of his team at the settlement meeting, which further pressured him.

“This individual is the same individual who was ordered by [Lanez] to attack me at the Vendome night club and he did so,” Prince stated. “I cannot share his identity at this time as this individual threatened me that if I mention his name, I would be severely injured or even killed. This individual was in possession of a firearm which was visible at the meeting.” Now, Lanez said he paid Prince $20K to settle and wants him to face a deposition to enforce the deal in court. Y’all be wanting too much of ppl time to be doin dat type of wack s***!! We filmed a hr long convo for that scene and y’all chop it to 3 mins and use that and make it a focal point. Weak”
