Kendrick Lamar To Purchase $40 Million Los Angeles Home After Drake Beef

Kendrick Lamar is reportedly taking a victory lap after fans declared his victory in the Drake beef, and what better place to do it than his home city? Moreover, according to the Wall Street Journal and AllHipHop, he agreed to buy a house in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles for over $40 million. It’s a 16,000-square-foot home from a trust connected to Viet Dinh, former chief legal and policy officer for the Fox Corporation. Reportedly, the Compton rapper would be paying over twice as much for the property than what the previous owners paid for it in 2019, which was $19.5 million.

Furthermore, this comes after Kendrick Lamar’s Brooklyn apartment came up as a jab during the Drake beef, specifically on Drizzy’s “Family Matters.” While these claims also linked to infidelity accusations surrounding his partner Whitney Alford, many fans believe based on Instagram posts that she also moved to this apartment. However, it’s unclear who is moving into this new home, as they keep their personal and private endeavors pretty close to the chest. We know thanks to albums like Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers that their complex relationship remains a supportive and caring one.

Meanwhile, Drake’s Toronto home also came up in this feud, but less on wax and more in general. Kendrick Lamar featured his house on the “Not Like Us” cover art, along with Photoshopped child sex offender pins placed on top of it. Also, it was unfortunately a victim of a shooting in the Bridle Path neighborhood recently, which left one security guard shot and in the hospital. At press time, the motive, method, and connection behind this scare hasn’t been confirmed, so it’s worthless to speculate on whether this rap battle had anything to do with it.

In any case, it seems like Kendrick Lamar has a new home to enjoy in Los Angeles as his West Coast anthem continues to enjoy massive hit status. Whether or not this is the end of the Drake beef is a question we won’t be able to answer for at least a few months. Or at least, until someone throws the first subliminal the other’s way. Ice Cube’s BIG3 Lands $10 Million Deal To Sell Its First Team

DCB Sports has inked a $10 million deal with Ice Cube and his BIG3 basketball league to become the first owner of one of the teams. The move comes as the BIG3 transitions to a home markets format. DCB Sports will now own the team based out of Cube’s hometown of Los Angeles. While teams still don’t have any geographical ties as of now, that will change beginning in the 2025 season.

“This is a historic day for the BIG3,” Ice Cube said in a press release, as caught by HipHopDX. “We could not be happier to entrust part of our league to Gary [LaDrido, managing partner of DCB Sports] and this seasoned group of sports investors ahead of our most important season yet. We have all-star basketball talent, millions of loyal fans around the world, and we are one of the most viewed sports programs of the summer on CBS. Basing our teams in home cities allows BIG3 to engage local communities and fanbases and bringing in ownership groups each with their own sports expertise, business, and capabilities beginning in 2025 will allow BIG3 to grow exponentially. I know that DCB Sports will do right by the people of Los Angeles and together, we’ll continue to change the game.”

The sale comes as Ice Cube has been trying to branch out the BIG3 in recent months. He offered NCAA Women’s Basketball star Caitlin Clark a massive contract to come play in his league, but she declined. In turn, he accused her agents of working for the “NBA mob” as she signed to play with the league’s women’s counterpart, the WNBA.

Clark addressed the BIG3 offer while she was still competing in the NCAA tournament. V Scripts Floats On Smooth Banger “Deliverance”

As we’ve seen in the past week alone, lyricism isn’t dead at all. Though the radio might continue to emphasize catchy hooks and infectious beats over penmanship, there remains an art to balancing the two. Nonetheless, plenty of rappers continue to push their pen in this art form including LA-based artist V Scripts. In the past few months, the rapper has been pushing out several promising singles ahead of a new album which is slated to drop later this year. Each has varied from the next and his latest is a display of his lyrical sword.

On April 30th, V Scripts slid through with the release of his excellent new single, “Deliverance.” Oleg Redin cooks up the smooth production of the record, laced with eerie synths and a bounce that triggers head nods. Meanwhile, Scripts dishes out plenty of ill punchlines across the board. The spacious production complements V Scripts’ laidback flow, allowing him to find new pockets to carefully execute each bar. It’s equal parts introspective and braggadocious, delivering witty shout-outs to FX’s hit show, Shogun while simultaneously reflecting on the political and social climate (“These kids don’t fistfight, they show guns like samurai”). It’s been nearly four years since V Scripts released his last album, Wolves & Lions. A shooting outside of The Weeknd’s manager’s home has left one person in critical condition, according to ABC7. The Encino, Los Angeles home of Amir Esmailian, also known as Cash XO, who Drake infamously name-dropped on “Push Ups,” was reportedly the target of a rumored home invasion on Monday morning. Unfortunately, a security guard was shot outside of the mansion and is currently in critical condition. Below, we’ve broken down everything we know about the incident so far.

Shooting At Cash XO’s Home

According to the LA Times, Shortly before 2:30 a.m., the tranquility of Jayden Lane in Encino was shattered by the eruption of gunfire, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Initial reports suggested a shooting at Esmailian’s residence, setting off a flurry of activity as officers rushed to the scene. The victim of the shooting is a 37-year-old security guard stationed outside the residence of Cash XO.

The Alleged Suspects

According to law enforcement sources, the wounded guard, in his mid-to-late-30s, provided crucial information to authorities amidst the chaos. Describing his assailants as individuals clad in hoodies and surgical masks, the guard recounted their swift escape on foot following the barrage of bullets. Multiple witnesses corroborated the account, reporting the sound of gunshots ringing through the night.

Paramedics swiftly intervened, transporting the injured guard to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Thanks to prompt medical intervention, the guard is expected to pull through, despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. His heroic actions in alerting emergency services potentially thwarted a more dire outcome.

Some of the immediate speculations online attempted to link Drake’s recent diss track toward The Weeknd to the shooting. The Chicago rapper donned a characteristic all-black fit with sunglasses, although he didn’t cover up his face as he often likes to do for the cameras. On the other hand, the architect wore a nude-colored bodysuit with pulled-up grey shorts and small heels.

While they tried to get into Cheesecake Factory before their 11:30 AM opening time, Ye made some calls to get inside and security ushered paparazzi and onlookers away. Of course, pop culture’s interest in the couple’s every move (and fashion choice) has been pretty cemented for over a year now. While it hasn’t been without its fair share of new controversies on top of dealing with old ones, they seem in a much more measured and tranquil place now. Little is known about the project, but The Weeknd will also reportedly star alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The untitled film is Shults’ first since 2019’s Waves. The film was an indie darling, scoring well with critics and audiences but failing to recoup its $6 million budget. Shults has two other feature films – 2015’s Krisha and 2017’s It Comes At Night.

However, Shults’ 2024 outing is shaping up to be his biggest yet. Ortega is one of the hottest stars in Hollywood following her massive 2023 with Wednesday and Scream VI. Meanwhile, Keoghan comes off the critically acclaimed Saltburn. As for The Weeknd, he will likely be hoping for a better-received screen outing after the critical disaster of HBO’s The Idol. A lot of criticism was leveled at the project from Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson. However, The Weeknd’s portrayal of primary antagonist Tedros was notably slammed by critics.

Moreover, she reportedly scared off two men in hoodies who climbed up to her balcony to attempt to break into her home. When they saw that the actress was home a little before 8PM, her presence and her acknowledgement of the men made them run away. Then, police arrived at the scene, and the culprits had already sped off and could not be found while officials responded to the incident. It’s unclear whether this was a targeted attack against Will Smith’s partner or just a couple of guys trying to hit some nice homes in Los Angeles.

Furthermore, deputies apparently opened an attempted burglary report, and launched an investigation into Jada Pinkett Smith’s case. However, one aspect of this brush with danger that folks asked questions about is whether Will Smith was there. Cops don’t believe he was (although they can’t confirm for sure), and social media users took this as a chance to re-open the conversation around their relationship dynamic.
