Drake Sings Argentina’s World Cup Song At Lollapalooza

Drake went viral recently for signing Argentina’s unofficial World Cup song during his Lollapalooza Argentina performance. Moreover, it’s not surprising to see the 6 God show some love to last year’s victors. After all, he bet on the team’s victory, although he lost because they didn’t win within 90 minutes as he anticipated. Still, he riled up the jubilant crowd and only had to sing the first word of the track “Muchachos” for them to follow along. For those curious, the track is fully titled “Muchachos, ahora nos volvimos a ilusionar” and is by La Mosca Tse-Tse.

In the social media clip, the Canadian superstar is wrapping up one of his songs, addressing the crowd. “By the way, that was probably like one of the best moments of my career,” he remarked. “Thank you. I feel like I really made it.” Then, they begin screams of “Argentina!” that quickly ramp up. At that moment, Drizzy leads the crowd into the song that carried them through the legendary soccer- sorry, fútbol tournament to victory. Furthermore, the song is specifically dedicated to some of the nation’s greatest players, like Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, and Gabriel Batistuta.

Drake Sings Argentina’s Unofficial World Cup Song

Unfortunately, the “Nice For What” rapper faced some stronger controversy and criticism for his performance. According to both Latin American news sources and festival-goer testimonies, Drake came out 15 minutes late for his set. Not only that, but he reportedly blocked the performance’s livestream (which was allegedly agreed on) just minutes before taking the stage. Such a decision goes against the standard of live-streaming Lollapalooza performances. Also, he reportedly only played for 40 minutes, well below the standard headliner slot of about an hour and a half.

In fact, the 36-year-old dealt with a lot of pushback for his live appearances recently. The most salient example of that has more to do with logistics, as people are outraged at the insane ticket prices for his tour with 21 Savage. Despite all that, it’s Drake we’re talking about, and it’s probably beyond his control. With that in mind, maybe his appreciation of Argentina’s people, greatness, and culture goes beyond festival mishaps. But that’s not for us to decide. Regardless, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Drake.

Drake Reportedly Cut His Lollapalooza Set Short, And His Fans In Argentina And At Home Are Pissed

Drake has found himself in a sticky situation. With festival season in full effect, the “Jumbotron Sh*t Poppin” rapper’s South American fans were excited to see him headlining the opening night of Lollapalooza Argentina alongside Rosalía. As the musician gearing up to hit the road for the It’s All A Blur tour with 21 Savage, and given that the Toronto native has shown the country love in the past by betting nearly a million dollars on their soccer team to win the World Cup Final, Argentines were expecting a show of epic portions.

With fire display, smoke machines, and his signature high energy on stage, Drake nearly delivered on all cylinders except one, according to the fans attending the show as comments poured into Twitter complaining about his set.

One person’s remarks roughly were translated as “Drake’s show should’ve lasted an hour and 30 minutes in Lollapalooza Argentina, but the artist unexpectedly ended it early. In total, he played for less than an hour.”

Despite prompting the crowd to sing Argentina’s World Cup anthem, “Muchachos,” that wasn’t enough to please the fans after he reportedly cut his set 30 minutes short.

Fans at home had something to gripe about, too. According to some users, the festival promised that the rapper’s set would be accessible via their stream. However, as viewers logged in to watch, a message on the screen revealed that Drake’s set would no longer be televised.

The anger has spilled over in the comment section of Lollapalooza Argentina’s Instagram posts, as one user wrote, “Started 10 minutes late, cut 30 minutes early, sang 30 seconds of each song, out of control just said the word literal “control,” sound went off, screens stayed on black for minutes — a disaster.”

Other users jumped in to defend the star, pointing out that he wasn’t the only performer not to have his set live-streamed.

Lil Nas X Claps Back At Troll Saying He’s “Fake Gay”

Time and time again, Lil Nas X proves that he’s always got the chops to respond artfully to online haters. Now, he faced some criticism for his Lollapalooza Chile set, although it had nothing to do with the excellent performance itself. One particular tweet made social media rounds alleging that the MONTERO artist is faking his sexuality. “I feel like he’s not really gay or not really that feminine it’s so forced,” the tweet read. Of course, the brain behind “Old Town Road” and so many more hits had a cheeky response up his sleeve.

“Oh no guys it’s the estrogen expert,” he fired off on Saturday morning (March 18). Also, he responded to another comment that suggested a similar close-minded mentality. “One day we will realise that Lil Nas X is not gay,” another tweeter expressed. “He just finessed the LGBT community and got to the bag.” This time around, his response was much more elaborate. “Do I have to give head at 3:45 am behind a McDonalds in Chicago on a Friday night during the middle of pride month while streaming on twitch and IG live for y’all to realize I am really a fruitcake?” he clapped back.

Lil Nas X Responds To Trolls Claiming He’s “Fake Gay”

In fact, these responses to Nas X’s show initially made headlines for how another rapper worked herself into the fray. Moreover, Saweetie liked that first tweet that the “INDUSTRY BABY” singer and rapper responded to about him being “fake gay.” Unsurprisingly, responses to that mere like prompted the “My Type” rapper to clarify her like on Twitter. “He was lookin fine af,” she tweeted shortly after people started noticing her like. “That’s why I liked the video I didn’t see the shadiness …. *unlikes*.”

Meanwhile, most people actually took the set for what it was and praised the unreleased track that Nas X played in the clips that these tweets reference. Furthermore, it’s a Saucy Santana collab titled “Down Souf Hoes” that’s sure to fire up any dance floor when it drops. Honestly, people trying to get under his skin only makes his hilarious responses and personality that much more gratifying. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Lil Nas X.

The MONTERO Star Claps Back Again

Drake’s Lollapalooza Argentina Set Cut Short, Fans Upset

The 6 God might be going on a massive tour soon, but if his latest sets are anything to go by, fans might be disappointed. Drake caught a lot of heat on social media for cutting his Lollapalooza Argentina set short and falling prey to a few other logistical issues. Fans claim that his performance was only about 40 minutes long, which differs from the typical hour and a half that a headliner would enjoy. Not only that, but the Canadian star allegedly barred his performance from being live-streamed just minutes before he arrived late to his show.

Moreover, this news is all the more concerning for Drake fans in the States, because it potentially indicates how his upcoming U.S. shows with 21 Savage will be. People are already outraged at the insanely inflated ticket prices for these shows. In fact, they added additional dates to accommodate demand, bringing the date count from 29 to 43. Still, it hasn’t made $1,000+ tickets any easier to swallow. However, despite all the outrage and disappointment with Drizzy’s Lolla Argentina performance, many of these factors aren’t necessarily his fault.

Drake Cuts Lollapalooza Argentina Short

Translation: “Drake’s show should’ve lasted an hour and 30 minutes in Lollapalooza Argentina, but the artist unexpectedly ended it early. In total, he played for less than an hour.”

Given the sheer size and scope of the festival, it’s natural that maybe there were some behind the scenes issues that we don’t know about that Drake had to handle in the moment. What’s curious is that it looks like event organizers were also blindsided by Drake’s decision to not allow a set livestream. Furthermore, they replaced footage of his performance on their stream with a message for fans. “Drake decided, minutes before going on stage, to not permit the live transmission of his show, despite the formal agreement reached earlier,” the message read. “We regret the artist’s decision.”

Meanwhile, Drake also performed at Lollapalooza Chile this weekend, which seems to have gone by without much of a hiccup. At least on Twitter, though, people are also complaining about a short set time. However, many people appreciated the set list itself, with many hits across his catalog, but that seems like a given for Drake. One can only wonder as to why he dismissed his sets this time around. Hopefully he’ll give a longer set at Lollapalooza Brasil next weekend. Check out reactions to his Lollapalooza Argentina set below and return to HNHH for the latest on Drake.

Lil Nas X Performs “Down Souf Hoes” Feat. Saucy Santana At Lollapalooza Ahead Of Song’s Debut

Lil Nas X is trending once again, as he hits the stage at Lollapalooza. The outspoken artist is known for putting on high-energy and jaw-dropping shows. Additionally, many are aware of his racy and sometimes controversial approach to his career. Since 2019, Nas has been steadily climbing the ladder of success, constantly bringing something new and interesting to the table during his performances. His set at this weekend’s festival was no different. Currently, fans are going crazy with excitement after he sang an unreleased song featuring Saucy Santana.

Titled “Down Souf Hoes,” the infectious tune brings everything you would expect from this duo. The song is not technically a new one, as Lil Nas X and Santana performed it together in late 2022. Unfortunately, it has yet to become publicly available on any streaming service. After his latest performance, however, listeners are now demanding an actual release of the joint effort ASAP. Their demands may be met this summer, as the Atlanta native has plans to release a new project that will include his work with his contemporary.

Lil Nas X Twerks to “Down Souf Hoes”

Santana, best known for his TikTok favourite, “Material Girl,” first started as a makeup artist for the City Girls, JT and Yung Miami. The same year that Lil Nas X started to blow up, the Connecticut native began his rapping career. His first hit was “Walk ‘Em Like a Dog,” and he has carved out a lane for himself in the industry as an openly LGBT artist. Not many people were surprised when Santana linked up with Nas to create music. Both creatives have a similar style, as well as a shared love for makeup and fashion.

While Lil Nas X hopes to be dropping his new album in the summer, no official release date has been confirmed. However, most people are expecting his sophomore effort (along with the long-awaited “Down Souf Hoes”) to drop during Pride season. Seeing as the MONTERO hitmaker has always been very open about his sexuality in his music, it would make sense for him to wait until June. Check back later for any updates on a potential release date.

A Security Guard At Lollapalooza Was Arrested For Sending False Threats Of A Mass Shooting

A Lollapalooza security guard who reportedly gave her supervisor a false threat of a mass shooting because she “wanted to leave work early” is now being prosecuted in Chicago.

Janya Williams reportedly sent a text message to her supervisor via a smartphone app called TextNow, reading “Mass shooting at 4pm location Lollapalooza. We have 150 targets,” according to court documents obtained by Billboard.

The documents also noted that Williams, 18, allegedly fabricated a Facebook post, reading, “Massive shooting at Lollapalooza Grant Park 6:00 p.m.,” which she screenshotted and forwarded to her supervisor.

The posts and texts were reported to FBI investigators, who quickly traced them back to Williams. When interogated by FBI investigators, Williams admitted that she “sent the message and created the fake post because she wanted to leave work early.” She was arrested Sunday (July 31) and is currently facing a charge for making a false terrorsitic threat. On the same day, a hearing took place, in which a judge set a bail of $50,000. At the time of Billboard‘s reporting, it was unknown whether Williams posted bail or remained in custody.

During Lollapalooza, no delays or cancellations due to terroristic threats were put in place. Over 100,000 attendees were present at the festival at each of its four days.

Lollapalooza Is A Big City Music Festival Done Right

After effectively riling up the audience with nostalgic hits, Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong took a moment during the band’s headlining Lollapalooza set to reflect on how much the festival has meant to him over the years. To a sea of tens of thousands of screaming fans spanning generations, Armstrong said attending an early iteration of the then-traveling festival gave small-town kids like him a chance to see all their favorite bands in one place. It affirmed his decision to start Green Day, who got their first chance to play the festival only a few years later in 1994.

Lollapalooza has changed a lot since its early, traveling days. Now a massive event that beckons nearly 400,000 people through its gates every year, Lollapalooza has found a permanent home in Chicago’s downtown Grant Park. With a 360-degree view of the dazzling city skyline, eight stages with minimal sound bleed, and thoughtful amenities, Lollapalooza is an example of a big city festival done right.

Lollapalooza’s lineup has also evolved a lot since the ’90s, but this year’s bill paid tribute to its early days by inviting bands like Metallica and Green Day to headline. Billy Corgan, who headlined with the Smashing Pumpkins in 1994, even made a guest appearance on stage with festival founder Perry Ferrell’s band Porno For Pyros. But the four-day event’s eclectic bill had something for everyone to enjoy. One stage was dedicated to EDM fans raging all day long to artists like Kaskade and Rezz. Hip-hop heads found a home at the festival too, getting a chance to see J. Cole, Big Sean, BLXST, and Lil Durk. Pop artists big and small like Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and The Regrettes, took the stage and K-pop icons like Tomorrow x Together and BTS’ J-Hope were greeted by thousands of screaming fans. Even the kiddos weren’t left out at Lollapalooza, with a stage dedicated solely to interactive sets for children and parents to find respite from the massive crowds.

The giant crowds are definitely something Lollapalooza has earned a bit of a reputation for, though huge signs reading “fence jumpers will be prosecuted” may have deterred anyone thinking of sneaking in without a wristband. Due to Lollapalooza’s sheer size, the festival effectively takes over the entire city of Chicago each year. It’s located on a one-mile stretch in Chicago’s downtown Grant Park, but the festival manages to set the whole city in motion. Public transportation is jam-packed with excitable festivalgoers sometimes ignorant of the disruption they cause to the average commuter. Main streets like Michigan Ave are shut down and cars get re-routed to account for the hundreds of thousands of people flocking to the park. While Lollapalooza brings many out-of-towners, many who actually live in Chicago are used to avoiding the weekend like the plague. Even those who forget about it are subject to its aftermath, left to wonder things like: “Why are the trains so delayed?” and “Why does everyone downtown look like they were downloaded directly from the Shein website?”

And while the yearly festival may cause a headache for those not in attendance, it’s more than clear why Lollapalooza is one of the most-talked-about music festivals in the country. For one, every performer continually brings their A-game. Dua Lipa put her refined dance moves on full display and Charli XCX transformed an entire field of people into a euphoric, daytime club. It also wasn’t uncommon for artists to surprise guests on stage. During his Saturday set, Big Sean brought out his very pregnant partner Jhené Aiko for a few songs. The two shared some very tender moments on stage, like when Sean lovingly kissed Aiko’s belly before leaning in for an intimate embrace. But that wasn’t the only surprise appearance: J-Cole invited Bas and J.I.D to the stage during his headlining performance, Still Woozy was joined by Remi Wolf to sing their collab, and Sunday closer J-Hope had Becky G make a surprise appearance during his penultimate song.

Speaking of J-Hope, the BTS member’s performance was history in the making. Not only was the K-pop star’s set reportedly the highest ticket selling event in Lollapalooza’s history, but it also marked the first time a South Korean solo artist has headlined a US festival. The momentous occasion was more than tangible, as the entire festival was seemingly flooded by the BTS fandom. From the grounds, J-Hope’s performance would at times be washed out by the ear-piercing screams of the crowd.

Along with bigger artists going all-out, Lollapalooza also offered a space for up-and-coming musicians to shine. Gen Z favorite PinkPantheress managed to start a mosh pit when performing the short-but-sweet hit “Just For Me.” Newcomer GAYLE, who has gained a notable following thanks to an uber-viral TikTok song “Abcdefu,” showed off her rock-star status on stage. She had the crowd on their feet before ripping through an electrifying cover of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ “Bad Reputation.” Indie pop trio MUNA also fired off a fun cover during their set, getting the entire audience to shout along to a rendition of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside.” Meanwhile, pop singer Fletcher played a main stage set for her first time ever and took the opportunity to lead the crowd through a cover of Billie Eilish’s popular song “Happier Than Ever.”

Most of Lollapalooza’s four days were accompanied by awe-inspiring sets and appreciative artists. But like any festival of its ilk, there were a few drawbacks. For one, many of the on-site amenities felt like corporate cash grabs in disguise; an intriguing art installation tent turned out to be an NFT gallery that implored you to sign up for an NFT minting service. Another installation designed to look like a haunted house ended up being a scheme to get your email address in exchange for a free can of water. Thankfully though, none of the drawbacks had anything to do with safety measures, other than an unforeseeable accident Lil Durk had involving pyrotechnics during his set. Efficient water stations were conveniently located near every stage and EMT volunteers were constantly on the lookout for anyone in need of help. After one attendee fainted just a few feet away, two medical professionals were on-site within seconds, handing them water and carrying them safely out of the crowd.

Overall, Lollapalooza 2022 lived up to its reputation in nearly every way. Yes, there were massive crowds and lots of rowdy teenagers, but there were also outstanding performances accompanied by breathtaking city skyline views. And after four days of music, dancing, and meeting new friends, I was left with a sense of gratitude for the festival, a camera full of unforgettable memories, and very sore feet.

Lil Durk Decides to ‘Focus’ on His Health After Lollapalozza Injury

LilDurk1

Lil Durk suffered an eye injury during his Lollapalozza set this past weekend after a pyrotechnic stage explosive went off in the Chicago rapper’s face. Immediately after the incident, Durk wiped his eye with his t-shirt and continued the performance.

Smurk was later taken to the hospital, where he was treated. The “Started From” rapper took to Instagram Sunday to update his supporters on the aftermath of the injury.

“Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health,” he said in the caption of his Instagram post. “I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.”

A number of artists including T.I., Swae Lee, Trippie Redd, Nav and Giggs wished Durk well on his road to recovery.

Prior to Lollapalozza, Lil Durk wrapped up one of the best performances during Rolling Loud in July and headlined Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert back in June. His 7th studio album, 7220, debuted atop the Billboard 200 and is now certified gold by the RIAA.

We wish The Voice a speedy recovery.
