Drake Has A Surprising Take On Whether Or Not Hip-Hop Is Dead

Drake and Adin Ross seemed to have a great time during the Drizzmas giveaway stream on Thursday night (December 26), but they almost got into some deep conversations. After talking about Drizzy’s upcoming collab album with PARTYNEXTDOOR for a second, the streamer remarked that “rap’s dead,” which led the 6ix God to make a curious remark. “Oh, let’s not go there, let’s not go there,” he expressed. “You know what? Honestly, it’ll never die. […] What do you mean? […] Just, it was a weird NBA season. New season starts in, like, five days, anyway.”

Of course, Drake has plenty of reasons this year to have his problems with hip-hop, but it seems like not even a rap battle loss to Kendrick Lamar can fully fuel a cynical view. Sure, it has been a pretty wild and bizarre “season” for rap music, but the OVO mogul knows well that the core of the art form will always exist. This is also too vague to really make heads or tails of, especially without some further context. It’s the question of whether or not the genre’s “death” is about what new music is coming out or about what direction it’s heading in, and maybe these two were talking from these different perspectives.

Drake Speaks On The “Rap Is Dead” Narrative

Also, another reason as to why Drake fans found these comments curious is due to his legal battle with UMG and Spotify. In fact, he even made some other remarks about staying strong in the face of individuals and big corporations, so fans are reading between the lines a lot now. Regardless of where that actually goes in court, it’s undeniable that it sparked a wider conversation about the commercial music industry and how it’s affected hip-hop.

But Drake’s 2024 wasn’t the only thing that he made slight jabs about here and there, as he also teased Playboi Carti and Adin Ross for their disastrous stream attempt. He and Adin clearly just wanted to have a good time and give back to the die-hards, but they ended up giving us a microcosm of a lot of hip-hop discourse right now. Just goes to show that rap music is about much more than multiple isolated incidents or circumstances.

Drake Takes A Subtle Shot At Playboi Carti By Teasing His Strange Stream With Adin Ross

Drake and Adin Ross’ “Drizzmas Giveaway” went over extremely well when you look at it. The two pals were able to gift some insane prizes to some lucky winners. For example, viewers had the chance to take home tickets to Drake’s upcoming shows in Australia. Additionally, more tangible items were included such as money and expensive cars. Moreover, a lot of folks were tuning in throughout the evening. In fact, just within the first 60 minutes, 180,000 people were watching it on Kick. Being able to spread their wealth to others certainly made them smile and at the end of the event, the two took some time to appreciate their time with one another. However, it didn’t come without poking some fun at someone else.

Drake began by saying, “What an unlikely duo.” Adin then concurred, “Real s***… I’m so happy we’re close man.” Drizzy couldn’t agree more, and he acknowledged how important it was that they had met prior to the stream. He said that because, “Or I would have like came on your stream and like just had a hockey mask on and like tried to pretend to not know you.” This appears to be an indirect dig at Playboi Carti who ruffled Adin and many others’ feathers for acting strange during their stream back in February.

Are Drake & Carti Beefing Now?

He only appeared for about five minutes or so, barely said anything, and walked out with $2 million in Adin’s money. Drake never says Carti’s name directly, but his host knew what he was referring to. “Yeah, true… that was f***ed up.” Drizzy said that it wasn’t weird though, but rather what he would have done as well. That seemed to upset Adin a little, so it’s hard to tell what Drake was getting at with that comment.

Since that Carti collab, though, him and Adin’s relationship still seems to be in this weird gray area. The Atlanta rapper did thank him for praising his “ALL RED” snippet but then turned around and laughed at his expense during the Hitta J3 back-and-forth. If you remember Adin had started it by addressing Hitta’s claims that he wasn’t welcome in California due to his friendship with Drake. He even threated to sue the GNX guest, but Hitta clapped back with a response on social media. “No wonder Carti didn’t take your podcast serious. You n****s be kids with some fame & let it get to yall head Adin.”

Drake Almost Says “F*** Kendrick Lamar” While Reading A Fan Letter During Adin Ross’ Stream

Last night, Drake and Adin Ross helped spread some Christmas cheer. The two respective powerhouses joined forces for what they called the “Drizzmas Giveaway.” Sponsored by Stake and being dubbed “the biggest streaming giveaway of all time,” they were gifting some serious prizes. A vacation, a Lamborghini or G-Wagon, a year of rent for two people, and large cash amounts were just a few eye-popping things folks could win. It premiered on Kick, Adin’s streaming partner, at 8 p.m. ET on December 26 and over 180,000 tuned in within the first hour.

Overall, it was a major success for that reason alone. However, the livestream has been spawning some discourse-inducing clips in the process. Drake shouted out Future after their recent divide, as well as Tory Lanez and Lil Durk amid their legal situations. Same went for Young Thug, who Drizzy is particularly excited to see back in rapping shape. “I can’t wait for new Young Thug music. Welcome home, Thug,” he said. Furthermore, The Boy was once again hyping up his and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s upcoming collaborative album that seems like it will actually arrive by sometime next year.

He actually revealed it was supposed to land on December 6, but the wait is still active. All of this is really nothing though in the grand scheme of things, as one clip involving Kendrick Lamar’s name is making the rounds. While reading a fan’s letter explaining why they would love to win the two tickets to see Drake in Australia, they tried to sneak in a diss for K. Dot. “It would be an unforgettable honeymoon filled with laughter, fun, and of course, the Drake charisma, and it’s always f*** Kendrick…”

However, Drake caught himself before letting the rest of that sentence spill out. “Oh, I am not reading that,” he said. As you can imagine, folks came fast with the jokes, with one writing, “He scared😂😂😂” Others made sure to make jabs at his recent UMG/”Not Like Us” petitions, “Now if he WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP yo ayss again don’t go runnin back to them lawyers!😂” Drake might have saved himself in the moment, but you know how the internet is; they will always find a way to taunt someone.

J Cole Helps Out Fans Who Missed Out On Tickets To His “2014 Forest Hills Drive” Concert But With A Catch

J Cole has really been closing out 2024 in tremendous fashion. This whole Inevitable audio series created an exciting and an intriguing chain reaction of events. Overall, it’s really turned his year around after a bumpy first half. The 10 episodes have led to the North Carolina rapper to officially release all three of his inaugural mixtapes. The Come Up Mixtape Vol. 1, The Warm Up, and Friday Night Lights all hit streaming services on their respective episodes’ release dates. The thrills only continued from there though. The Dreamville head honcho would then go onto announce two special versions of what many dub as his classic album.

With 2014 Forest Hills Drive celebrating its 10th anniversary yesterday, Cole decided to bring out eight bonus tracks. He put them on two different vinyl copies and then combined them on the recent digital release. These were supposed to be a part of the initial double album format of 2014 FHD. So far, fans have been enjoying the heck out them and so have we. Now, to put a bow on everything, J Cole is going to be performing the album at Madison Square Garden.

You Have To Be A Member To Livestream J Cole’s Concert

He will be heading there for a one-time show on December 16. So many were trying to buy tickets, 142,000 of them to be exact. However, they sold out very quickly (as you could imagine). There will be a special last-minute sale for an additional 2,014 tickets. They will be made available for $1, according to Uproxx, and the location at which to buy them will be revealed the day of the show.

That will also be pretty much impossible to pull off for most, so Cole and his team are pulling some strings. There will now be a livestream for the concert, however, there is a slight catch. It will be free, but you have to be a Chase cardholder, or a member of the Inevitable community. If you purchased one of the release of the 10th anniversary edition of 2014 FHD, you can also get access to the stream. If you are neither of the first two, you can get the digital copy of the album for $10.00 USD. To watch the concert, it will be on www.inevitable.live only.

Orlando Brown Shocks Fans By Claiming He Slept With His Parents

Orlando Brown often goes viral for all the wrong reasons, and his most recent antic might just take the cake. Moreover, the actor recently appeared on Deshae Frost’s livestream and made everyone that was with him uncomfortable by issuing out yet another ridiculously inappropriate claim. “‘We listen and we don’t judge,’” he read something on Frost’s screen. “I had sex with my mama and my daddy. ‘We listen and we don’t judge!’ I got a baby with my mama and my daddy. ‘We listen and we don’t judge!’ And I’m telling you the motherf***ing truth! […] Thank you for giving me some p***y. I love my mom for that, you know? She taught me how to f**k like a man. My own mother did.”

Of course, this is beyond bizarre, and it’s entirely likely that Orlando Brown is just trolling here and taking things about as far as he can push them. Whether or not that desensitizes the comments themselves or makes them any less creepy or uncomfortable is up to your own personal view. But it certainly lines up with all the other absurdities that he’s spouted over the years.

Orlando Brown’s Latest Ridiculous Statement

“This is another crucial example of when we allow our young artists to be prematurely exposed by this demonic business and left out to fend for themselves,” Nick Cannon responded to Orlando Brown’s wild claims about him. “We need better support systems for our youth and take care of our own. I watched various of this young brother’s videos and all I see is a cry out for help.” These continued antics are just adding fuel to that fire, although it’s hard to tell how much of it is by design. Either way, we’re sure more developments will be just as controversial in the future.

Meanwhile, some of Orlando Brown’s viral moments are not as shocking, inappropriate, or creepy, but rather just very animated. For example, Brown recently chimed into the Super Bowl halftime show controversy surrounding Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar, positing that Weezy would be a terrible pick. Hopefully he engages more with these hot takes and not ones involving incest…

Druski Put On Blast By Child Actor’s Mother For Calling Her Son “Fat”

Druski never fails to make headlines for his wild internet antics, but recently, his behavior during Kai Cenat’s “Mafiathon 2” Thanksgiving special has created an uproar. At one point in the stream, the comedian and various others were seen sitting around a table. This included Kevin Hart, members of the Addams Family, and more. One child actor dressed up as Pugsley even joined them, but unfortunately, his evening took a turn for the worse.

Throughout the stream, Druski called the boy “fat” multiple times. Cenat then reprimanded Druski as the boy started crying. Ultimately, Druski apologized to the boy, letting him know that his remarks were all in jest. Despite this, the boy’s mother was furious, and promptly hopped online to call him out. In a clip, she explains how the situation made her incredibly upset, as she had no idea what was going on.

Druski Called Out For His Behavior During Kai Cenat’s Stream

“They wouldn’t let me get my son. Security blocked me. The person in charge of telling me what’s supposed to go on was telling me my son was crying because he didn’t get enough food, which is a lie. An older person, Druski, was physically and mentally insulting my son!” she said. “They let this happen to my son! It’s really damaged him. I don’t think anyone should let their kids around drunk men. They also broke the child permit laws. Very unprofessional. We love Kai Cenat, we’ve worked with him before, but Druski, you are not it!”

Cenat later addressed the debacle on stream, arguing that the boy’s remarks in his mother’s video seemed “forced a little bit.” He also claimed that they cut this portion of the stream after the fact simply to avoid more jokes being made at the child’s expense. “We cut it out solely for the fact we didn’t want anyone on YouTube to make a joke out of this. That’s how serious this is,” he stated.

Sexyy Red Breaks Silence On Cocaine Allegations After Viral Kai Cenat Stream

Sexyy Red has explained the context behind a viral clip from her appearance on Kai Cenat’s livestream on Tuesday night in which fans thought she was doing coke. “I definitely was rollin ah wood,” she replied to the clip on X (formerly Twitter). The video was taken as magician Max Major performed a trick and Sexyy left the main room to fiddle with something in her hands before bringing it close to her face.

Many fans came to Sexyy’s defense in the replies to her post, suggesting she’d be honest if she was doing a more serious drug. “We have all known sexyy red long enough to know that if it was coke she would say it was coke lol,” one user wrote. “Like does anyone believe she would deny it if that’s what it was ? Like come on now lol we know u was rolling up.” Another wrote: “The trolls dont even know what a wood is lol. You good ppl, respect the way you stood on business with Kai and the team.”

Sexyy Red Accused Of Snorting Cocaine During Kai Cenat Livestream

Recently, Sexyy Red teamed up with Kai Cenat for a livestream. Unfortunately, however, some of her behavior during the stream has social media users calling her out. At one point, she was seen repeatedly lifting something towards her nose and mouth. Many have speculated that she was allegedly snorting cocaine or another substance. “She got caught lackin fr,” one X user says of the clip. “Such a good role model,” another writes.

Luckily, according to Dexerto, she was actually doing something far less shocking than hard drugs. The outlet reports that Sexyy Red was simply adjusting a string attached to one of her rings. Apparently, the ring had been slipping off of her finger throughout the stream, and she was just trying to prevent it from falling off completely. For obvious reasons, this information comes as a relief to fans, who would hate to see her put everything she’s worked for on the line.

Sexyy Red Gets Called Out For Suspicious Livestream Moment

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time one of Kai Cenat’s guests has been accused of doing drugs during a stream. Earlier this month, for example, the internet personality was joined by Kodak Black. Kodak appeared to allegedly pop a Percocet on camera, raising concerns among viewers. For those who don’t recall, Kodak previously claimed to be on a sobriety journey. After getting called out over the scandal, he took to Instagram Live to address it. “I take one perc and y’all be so f****** butthurt,” he said at the time. “Y’all don’t like a n***a anyway.”

“I’m just Yak, bro. Aint sh*t changed, that’s how I came in this b*tch… I wake up like this,” he added. “If anything, give me drugs. Give me drugs, and I’ll chill. When I’m not high, when I ain’t higher than a b*tch, I’m vibing. When I’m high, I’m in my coma bruh, I ain’t talking to nobody ‘cuz I’m getting high.”

Drake Demands xQc Shut Off The Weeknd’s Music During Livestream

Drake demanded that xQc turn off The Weeknd’s hit song, “Starboy,” while speaking with the Canadian livestreamer on Sunday night. “We got to switch this song off,” Drake remarked during the broadcast, before breaking into laughter. “We gotta switch this one. Real 6ixers. Where the real Six at? We don’t listen to that.” xQc abided by his request and skipped the track. A clip of the moment is going viral on social media as the feud between Drake and The Weeknd intensifies.

“So Kendrick Future AND the weekend live in this guys head rent free,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) responded to the clip. Another wrote: “He needs to stay quiet lmfao Kendrick dissed the braids out of him don’t make weekend do it too.” Others wanted the two to make peace. “Seeing Drake act petty about The Weeknd in 2024 when they’re both literally Canadian music legends just perfectly sums up why the Toronto music scene can’t have nice things,” one fan said.

The Weeknd wasn’t the only artist Drake spoke on while speaking with xQc. He also downplayed Kendrick Lamar’s disses against him while introducing himself to the audience. “I’m Drake, this is xQc, real streaming legend. Me, I do music, in case you don’t know. I’m here, as you can see, fully intact. Mind, body, and soul. In case you’re wondering, right? You need facts to take me out. Fairy tales won’t do it,” he said. He later elaborated: “Nothing makes me uncomfortable, I’ve worked too hard to be uncomfortable. Nothing phases me, like I said, it takes only facts to fold me, fairytales don’t work.”
