Lil Baby Was Honored With The Humanitarian Award At Black Music Action Coalition’s Music In Action Gala

Last night, Lil Baby received the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at Black Music Action Coalition’s second annual Music in Action Awards Gala. At the ceremony, which was held at Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Baby was honored for his work in the realm of social justice.

For the past three years, Baby has hosted Back To School Fest, in which he has provided children in Atlanta with backpacks and school supplies ahead of their first days of school. He has also launched a $150,000 “My Turn” scholarship program at Tri Cities High School, his alma mater.

Earlier this year, he collaborated with Atlanta restaurateur Lemont Bradley to help provide 100 local people with jobs.

“I honestly didn’t know what a humanitarian was, but as I looked into it and started reading, I understand that I’m actually humanitarian,” said Baby during his acceptance speech. “I just want to say that I appreciate everybody in here because nothing that we doing or trying to do can be done by one person. It’s gonna take all of us to stick together and stay together.”

In equally exciting news, Lil Baby also dropped “The World Is Yours To Take,” the Tears For Fears-sampling official anthem of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Lil Baby Delivers New Single “The World is Yours to Take” for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Lil Baby Delivers New Single "The World is Yours to Take" for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Lil Baby and Budweiser are teaming up to deliver “The World Is Yours To Take,” a new single that will be included in promotional material from Budweiser, The Official Beer of the FIFA World Cup, as well as the first-ever Official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack. Tears For Fears’ smash hit song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is sampled in the upbeat anthem, motivating listeners to start their path to success. The popular song is universally appealing and captures the upbeat vibe that Budweiser and Lil Baby was going for with their joint effort.

Sports enthusiasts from all around the world gathered for the 2018 FIFA World Cup four years ago, just as Lil Baby started his journey to popularity with the publication of his debut album. Now, the internationally renowned rap phenomenon from Atlanta is utilizing the FIFA World Cup and his association with Budweiser as a platform to reflect on his path and motivate followers to follow their dreams.

“My new track with Budweiser for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack is a special one for me. It’s about the journey we’ve all been on over the last few years and celebrating what’s next. When I started in music in 2017, I went all in on a dream that brought me to where I am now, and that’s what I want fans to feel when they hear the song. I hope it makes you feel like you’re walking out onto the pitch at the World Cup making moves toward your own dreams, whatever that means to you,” said Lil Baby.

The World Is Yours To Take, one of only eight singles included for the Official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack, will be commemorated on Lil Baby’s 28th birthday with a live performance at the event. In addition to releasing fresh versions of the song, Budweiser and Lil Baby will collaborate with incredible artists from around the world to film the music video during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which will run from November 20 to December 18, 2022.

Lil Baby And Tears For Fears Share The 2022 World Cup Budweiser Anthem ‘The World Is Yours To Take’

Lil Baby has inarguably reached the biggest milestone in his career as he has released the official, Budweiser-sponsored 2022 World Cup anthem “The World Is Yours To Take” alongside Tears For Fears. This track will appear with multiple others on the official World Cup soundtrack.

The My Turn rapper kicks the record off, spitting “I’m by far one of the hardest workers / Real firm believer in practice makes perfect / You can gather all the water, stay thirsty / Took a lot to get us here, we broke curses.” The rapper also reflects on the effects COVID-19 had on the country, but celebrates that everyone is back outside winning.

Tears For Fears comes in the refrain, singing “Everybody wants to rule the world” repeatedly as Baby ad-libs in between each line.

“The World Is Yours To Take” follows a highly active year for Lil Baby. The Atlanta rapper shared “Detox” earlier this month and appeared twice on DJ Khaled’s 13th studio album God Did, namely the lead single “Staying Alive” with Drake and “Big Time” with Future. The “Freestyle” artist also joined forces with Nav and Travis Scott on “Never Sleep,” the lead single from Nav’s latest album Demons Protected By Angels. At the top of the year, he and Nicki Minaj released back-to-back collaborations with “Do We Have A Problem?” followed by “Bussin.”

As for Tears For Fears, they released “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” and a sped-up version of the record in August. The band shared their latest album The Tipping Point back in February after a nearly two-year hiatus since the “super deluxe” version of The Seeds Of Love came out.

Given Tears For Fears’s skin in the game dating back to the 1980s and Lil Baby arguably being in his prime today, this is literally a collaboration for the ages.
