Forgot about putting it on the floor. Latto is leaving it all on the screen. The “Seven” rapper made her debut acting appearance on Freeform’s Grown-Ish. Although she only stepped in for a minor role, viewers are giving the Grammy Award nominee rave reviews for the performance she gave.
The musician channeled her inner saleswoman, as she stepped into the role of Sloan, a wine connoisseur. During the scene, Latto and show regular Diggy Simmons’ character Doug have a flirtatious exchange while conducting business.
Back in June, Latto told Cosmo during an interview that she would love to work on her acting chops. “I want to get in my acting bag because I see myself going out like Rihanna. I don’t see myself doing music forever. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I’ve been doing it for so long already. Sometimes you just want more. I just did my first little acting gig the other day, and I fell in love with that. I like more serious roles,” said the entertainer.
Latto has hit the jackpot, achieving an incredible milestone by claiming the No.1 spot on The Billboard Hot 100 list with the infectious track “Seven,” a collaboration with South Korean singer JungKook. The cheerful and dancefloor-friendly song soared to the top, garnering an impressive 21.9 million streams, 6.4 million in airplay audience, and 153,000 combined […]

Jung Kook is a K-pop star and a member of the group BTS. The single is believed to be the first from his forthcoming album.
Other rappers in the Billboard Hot 100 top ten are Gunna at No. 6 with “fukumean” and Lil Durk and J. Cole’s collaboration “All My Life.”

As K-pop gets more and more popular stateside, more artists in other genres have become more eager to collaborate with K-pop stars to increase their own reach, and it’s paying off. The latest is Latto, who teamed up recently with BTS’ Jungkook (or Jung Kook, as he’s apparently presenting himself to US audiences) to release “Seven” — and in the process, reached her biggest career milestone yet.
The latest week’s Billboard charts have arrived and guess who’s landed at the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100. That’s right: Jungkook, Latto, and their collaboration “Seven,” which has become both artists’ first-ever No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart. That accomplishment has them overtaking Jason Aldean’s Jim Crow anthem “Try That In A Small Town” (I guess the power of diversity and globalism is still stronger than thinly veiled dog whistle racism).
“Seven” is, of course, thought to be the first single from Jungkook’s speculated solo debut; its success indicates that the appetite for said project is just as high as fans could expect from a solo member of BTS, one of the most popular boy bands in the world. It’s also just one of many crossovers between hip-hop and K-pop recently, including J-Hope’s J. Cole collab “On The Street,” FIFTY FIFTY’s Kaliii crossover “Barbie Dreams,” and Blackpink’s “Bet You Wanna” with Cardi B.
Over the past few months, entertainers have been trying everything to get fans to stop throwing things on stage during their performances. Drake outright told It’s All A Blur attendees to only throw bras, while Latto went a step further and threatened a fan with an ass beating during a recent show. Unfortunately, her warning went unheeded by at least one fan at Rolling Loud, as Latto was forced to nearly stop the show after someone threw a phone on stage while she performed “Muwop.”
It’s difficult to see any flying objects in the video, but Latto’s body language says enough. She stops rapping for a bit, looking extremely peeved, before she adjusts her outfit and gets back to work. She’s enough of a pro to recognize that the show must go on, but for a second, it does look like she’s ready to rumble after all.
Latto had a more positive fan experience at another recent festival performance when a fan who wanted her attention got it in an appropriate way, holding up a sign that read “Latto, sign my ass.” She obliged, then joined the fan in an impromptu twerk session. This seems like some thing more fans should try instead of throwing their $800 supercomputers at performers.
Rolling Loud is a festival that’s been known to bring with it plenty of chaos, however, the 2023 Miami edition was far less dramatic than usual. Rather, the event focused on debuting new music from some of our favourite artists, including Playboi Carti and ASAP Rocky. While the men of rap definitely held things down, several of our favourite female lyricists made waves too, including Ice Spice and Latto. The former reportedly shaded the latter on her Like..? (Deluxe) EP earlier in the weekend, but the Queen of Da Souf didn’t seem too bothered by the diss during her set.
Instead, Latto kept her focus on entertaining her fans – not only with her biggest hits like “Put It On Da Floor” and “It’s Givin’,” but also with her bootylicious dance moves. Virtually every song on her setlist saw the 777 hitmaker throwing it back, including her viral TikTok, “thank you to my man” sound that she turned into a fun little track, perfect for twerking up a storm.
It was mostly all smiles for Latto during her time on stage this weekend, but unfortunately, one festival patron tried to ruin that. Despite her previous threats made toward the last person who threw a phone on stage, someone in the crowd was feeling brave enough to try their luck.
The disdain on the Atlanta-based hitmaker’s face was evident, and she even almost halted the entire show as a result. However, she quickly managed to turn her mood around and get fans singing along with her once again.

As much as Coi Leray would love for women rappers to push their feuds to the side, not everyone agrees. Based on her latest song, “Butterfly Ku,” Ice Spice doesn’t. As some on social media have pointed out, the track, which appears on her Like..?’ Deluxe EP, contains a few subtle jabs at other acts. After further examination of the lyrics, fans are now asking if the song contains a Latto diss.
The stanza in question comes on the track’s second verse, in which Ice Spice raps, “Where she at? On the floor (Damn) / She get her money, but I’m gettin’ more (More) / I’m a player, you know I’m a score (Facts) / First they was hatin’, now I’m on the board.” Although the reference is faint, Ice Spice seems to be directly responding to Latto’s song “Put It On Da Floor,” a track inspired by her beef with Ice Spice’s mentor Nicki Minaj.
Due to Ice Spice’s budding relationship with Nicki Minaj and Latto’s affiliation with Cardi B, fans believe it will cause a rift in their collective relationship. Meanwhile others believe Ice Spice has simply had enough of being poked at. One example in supporters’ eyes is when Latto was asked to find the lyrics to an Ice Spice song during a red-carpet interview but jokingly laughed it off, pleading that she couldn’t.

It’s crazy how Latto went on the red carpet & pretended not to know who ice spice was , then started doing her dance move & now rocking her same style clothes . https://t.co/MUnEC3403W
