SZA’s ‘Kill Bill’ Has Landed The Singer Her First No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 Chart

Lizzo declared 2023 as the year of SZA, and based on the “No Love” singer’s latest career milestones, she’s right. First, her prolific sophomore album, SOS, crushed several music records. Now, as she prepares to head out on the second wing of her SOS Tour across North America and Europe, she has another accolade to celebrate with fans while on the road.

SZA’s breakout single “Kill Bill” has just landed her her first No. 1 song on the Hot 100 charts. Although her SOS album, in which the song appears, sat atop the music charts for over ten weeks, “Kill Bill” is the first song off of it — as well as across SZA’s discography — to make it to the top of Billboard’s charts.

Just a few weeks ago, SZA teamed up with Doja Cat to release an official remix of the track. Their collaborative song “Kiss Me More” is SZA’s longest-charting song (spending 43 weeks on the charts). It peaked at the No. 3 spot.

Before Billboard’s latest announcement, “Kill Bill” held on comfortably at the No. 2 spot. Other songs from album to score placement on the charts include “Nobody Gets Me,” peaking at No. 10, “Shirt,” peaking at No. 11, and “Snooze” at No. 29.

SZA Earns First No. 1 Song Of Her Career With “Kill Bill”

As her career seems to get bigger by the minute, SZA just landed the first No. 1 song of her career on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Kill Bill.” Of course, this follows a very well-received remix featuring Doja Cat that dropped recently, so hype around the track is at an all-time high which is saying much. As one of the standout hits from her most recent album, it’s been hard not to hear the song for the past few months. Moreover, the track beat out other powerhouse cuts from Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Drake, and many more.

Furthermore, this is yet another move of greatness from SZA, although a recent news story about an odd development also caught many’s attention. Jay Electronica recently revealed in verse form that the “Gone Girl” singer apparently has him blocked on social media. “I did an album with Hov, lames let all their hate vent,” Electron’ rapped. “So I fell back three years like, ‘Go ahead, be great then’ / I popped out with Flygod, I popped out on ‘Donda’ / I popped out with Russ, then Vic Mensa and then Ambré / I popped up at Spades and I popped up at Vandals / And my sister keep asking why I got blocked by Solana [SZA].”

SZA Nabs First-Ever No. 1 Song With “Kill Bill”

Regardless of that strange interaction, SZA had some thankful words for everyone supporting “Kill Bill” and its remix recently. “I jus wanted to say THANK YOU,” the 33-year-old posted on Instagram. “To every single person rooting for me. Thank you doja cat for your talent and time! This music s**t is weird and fickle, but y’all always come together for me at the end of the day. It’s why I always try my hardest to give you my best. That won’t ever stop. I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!’ STREAM KILL BILL REMIX (feat doja cat) AND ORIGINAL.”

Meanwhile, the TDE star has the whole industry fiending for a feature or collaboration, including Lil Durk. “@sza the goat,” the Chicago MC wrote on his Instagram Story. “Y’all bet not sleep or get blind. Every female every car every sale she really her… I need you on my album ASAP. A hit not a regular song. Go tag sza blow her s**t down. Tell her Smurk need her.” For the latest on SZA and her incredible career, log back into HNHH.

Kim Kardashian Channels Uma Thurman In “Kill Bill”

Kim Kardashian is someone who is deeply embedded in the fashion world. Although she was mostly dressed by Kanye for many years, she still knows her way around a wardrobe. Moreover, she is someone who has her very own clothing line. She has a keen eye for an outfit, and she can make it work at any given moment. This has been especially true over the last couple of weeks or so as Kim K has been out and about with her children in Japan. Throughout the trip, Kardashian hit us with numerous fit pics that had her fans gushing.

As it turns out, Kim Kardashian is not done stunning fans with her well put together ensembles. Recently, she took to Instagram with a reference to the infamous Quentin Tarantino film Kill Bill. Of course, the main character of the film is played by none other than Uma Thurman. Overall, this is an iconic role that people still gush about. Additionally, she had a pretty exceptional wardrobe in that movie. Simply put, it should come as no surprise that Kim would want to recreate it.

Kim Kardashian Continues To Stun

In the images up above, you can see that Kim is wearing a zip-up leather jacket. Firstly, the main color here is black. Secondly, the sleeves and shoulders have a black strip going all the way down. When you put these elements together, you get an amazing recreation of what Thurman wore on the posters to the film. Of course, she also wore that outfit in various iconic scenes that are quite bloody, gruesome, and ironically beautiful. Subsequently, Kim Kardashian showed off some caps from the movie, just in case some didn’t get the reference. However, if you don’t know this is Kill Bill, you are simply too young to be on social media.

While Kim won’t be in any Tarantino movies anytime soon, she will be doing some acting. It was recently announced that the entrepreneur will be on the latest season of American Horror Story. She has acted before, but never in anything as serious as this particular show. Let us know how you think she will do, in the comments down below. Doja Cat Gets Love For Her Rapping Skills On SZA’s “Kill Bill” Remix

Doja Cat’s not one to play with, and that’s exactly what she proved to many fans on her remix of “Kill Bill” by SZA. Moreover, the recently released reimagining caught a lot of people’s ears on social media, and it was all for the Los Angeles native’s impressive bars. Not only did she fit the track’s lyrical and thematic focus, but she came through with the speed and internal rhymes of a classic boom-bap MC. Of course, it should come as no surprise that Doja stunned, whether because of her catalog or her eclectic set of influences. Regardless, people ate it up.

“Doja told a story!” an impassioned fan wrote on Twitter shortly after the song’s release. “Her verse gave mentally unstable ex out for revenge and the calm delivery of her rapping adds to that effect. Her storytelling was outstanding and really painted a picture to the listeners while staying on topic. She’s really got IT.” Along with this tweet came many others that praised Doja Cat’s performance alongside SZA’s beautiful melodies. For both artists, who brought us the massive hit “Kiss Me More,” it shows the boundless extent of their chemistry.

Doja Cat Wows Fans With “Kill Bill” Remix

As far as Doja Cat’s next moves, she gave a range of more sincere and cheeky updates on her upcoming album, presumably titled Hellmouth. “If you wanted a teaser into what I’ve been thinking about, that’s what I’ve been on a lot,” she revealed. “And just to make it clear, Beastie Boys is a huge inspiration to me. Beastie Boys will hit you with hard, loud and crazy rap, but they’ll also hit you with real raw 90s punk, which I love, or smooth techno that feels sexy and sleek. And you’ll be like, ‘Where the f**k did this come from?” She also spoke on pulling from more genre-bending influences like Death Grips and German rave music.

However, those hints also come with admissions of her artistic reservations and some funny digs at fans over-speculating. “I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny,” she noted on social media. “I know they are, I wasn’t trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing y’all say that I can’t, so I will.” In another message, she tried to play with fans a bit more. “The whole album is no longer rap y’all,” the 27-year-old expressed. “It’s rock/spoken work and the album title is not ‘Hellmouth’ anymore… a French conceptual experimental country/bohemian fusion with the essence of blue-grass.” Well, fans will see what happens. SZA Taps Doja Cat For “Kill Bill” Remix: Listen

Earlier tonight, Doja Cat surprised fans on Twitter. The artist had a very cryptic conversation with SZA on Twitter that seemed to be hinting at a new song. The two last collaborated on “Kiss Me More,” a single from Doja’s 2021 album Planet Her. The song was a smash on radio and streaming, and it is now 5x Platinum. The pair even won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo Performance for the song. It was the first Grammy for both Doja and SZA. After such a successful first collab, it isn’t a surprise that the two would want to do it again.

The very short interaction between Doja and SZA on Twitter immediately sent fans into hysterics, particularly in Doja’s case. Her fans have been waiting quite a long time for new music. Not much was said or hinted at in the conversation, however. “Sis… I did something bad,” Doja tweeted at SZA. Very soon after, SZA replied, “Jesus… what is it?” Doja replied once more, but she simply said “4.13.23 9 PM.” Turns out it was indeed a new collaboration.

Doja and SZA Team Up To “Kill Bill”

SZA’s “Kill Bill” was already a huge hit. To this day, you can’t open up social media without hearing the song on TikToks or Instagram Reels. However, it looks like SZA wanted to team up with someone on her mission to kill her ex. Doja Cat jumps on the beginning of the track with a rap verse. It feels somewhat different than her usual pop-influenced raps, though it’s not surprising. Doja Cat has been clear that she wants to step away from pop. The verse adds quite a bit in terms of storytelling. It’s a worthy feature, for sure.

“She saw me standing by the TV and she wouldn’t stop screaming / So I tried to be discreet and told her ‘calm your tits’,” Doja raps during her verse. It’s interesting to hear because the flow is very much sounding like Doja wants to lean into rap, but she still has her sense of humor. It seems like she’s going to go for a much more mature sound if this feature is any indication. What do you think of the duo’s team-up? Let us know in the comments!

Quotable Lyrics:

It happened in a flash
When she charged at me, y’all crisscrossed
Saw her fall to the floor, then you paused
And in horror, “That shot wasn’t for her”
Was it?

Doja Cat Gives SZA’s ‘Kill Bill’ A Terrifying Update For The Viral Revenge Hit’s Remix

SZA and Doja Cat have another hit on their hands. Tonight (April 14), the two have shared a remix to SZA’s viral hit, “Kill Bill,” from her second album, SOS.

On the standout track from the album, SZA fantasizes about exacting revenge on an ex of hers. The song has become one of SZA’s biggest hits, as it has been certified triple platinum and has reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The remix features a new verse by Doja, who details exactly how she’s healing following a breakup.

“I’m in a funk, so I bought a bouquet of roses / And cut them up at your doorstep / Your new neighborhood is gorgeous,” raps Doja on the song’s opening verse, right before she details an encounter with her ex’s new woman.

This marks the second official collaboration between SZA and Doja Cat, their first being “Kiss Me More,” the lead single from Doja’s third album, Planet Her. Though, the two did link up for a remix of “Shirt,” also on SZA’s SOS, which was never officially released.

It’s likely that this new remix of “Kill Bill” (and perhaps, maybe the “Shirt” remix) will appear on the upcoming deluxe version of SOS. Last month, SZA teased an extended version of her second album which will feature 10 more songs.

In the meantime, you can listen to the “Kill Bill” remix above.

SZA Explained Why Knew She’d Be ‘Pissed Off’ By The Success Of ‘Kill Bill’

SZA has been named Billboard‘s Woman Of The Year for 2023. In celebration, she did an interview with the publication on the heels of her sophomore SOS album dropping in December.

Not only did SZA reveal that there’s a deluxe version on the way, but she also opened up about exactly how she feels about her mega hit, “Kill Bill.” The song reached No. 2 on the charts, making it her biggest song to date.

“I knew it would be something that pissed me off,” she said. “It’s always a song that I don’t give a f*ck about that’s just super easy, not the sh*t that I put so much heart and energy into. ‘Kill Bill’ was super easy — one take, one night.”

The vengeful-but-fun video drew a significant amount of attention, too, as it pulled inspiration from the Tarantino flick and had a cameo from Vivica A. Fox.

Still, SZA also noted that she did want to change things up from any expectations that fans might have had after her 2017 debut, Ctrl, saying, “I know people wanted ‘Broken Clocks,’ ‘Love Galore,’ and all that other sh*t again, but I departed from that by choice. Not because I couldn’t do that again; it was just because I wanted to grow. I wanted to do something completely different.”

It’s clear that the pivot has worked out in her favor immensely.

Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ Again Sits At No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 While Ice Spice And PinkPantheress Hit A New High

Even though Miley Cyrus can buy them for herself, it’s about time to give the pop icon her “Flowers,” as the aforementioned single sits at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The chart dated for the week of February 25, 2023 marks the fifth week for “Flowers” at No. 1.

At No. 2 is SZA’s “Kill Bill,” which has held this spot for six weeks. On this song, which has gone viral on TikTok, SZA humorously fantasizes about killing her ex.

Metro Boomin’, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage hold the No. 3 spot with “Creepin’,” which interpolates Mario Winans and Diddy’s 2004 hit, “I Don’t Wanna Know.”

Continuing the hot streak of breakup anthems is “Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2,” by PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, which is currently at No. 4. This marks a 11-spot leap for the two rising artists, as the song debuted at No. 15 last week. It also marks the highest-charting hit for both artists.

“this gurl radiated the warmest + most positive energy i’ve ever felt from a fellow artist that i had no choice but to join the spice cabinet that INSTANT,” said PinkPantheress of her collaborator in a tweet.

SZA’s “SOS” Continues Its Record-Breaking Run

SZA has proven once again her aptitude for making history. For the ninth non-consecutive week, the 33-year-old singer has earned Billboard‘s No. 1 spot for her sophomore release, SOS. According to the outlet, the project has earned 93,000 equivalent album units. SZA now joins Adele and Taylor Swift as female artists who’ve charted No. 1 for nine weeks. The English songstress earned the top spot with her album 23 for ten weeks, whereas the country-turned-pop star previously held the spot for nine weeks with 1989.

In a conversation with the New York Times, SZA reflected on her approach to SOS. “I didn’t even know how to make [the album] cause I didn’t have a purpose,” she dished. The TDE star also explained how Ctrl had been a way to prove her ability to create an album. But now, SZA says, “I did everything I wanted to do.” Regardless, her latest effort has been met with high acclamations from fans, with tracks like “Snooze,” “Nobody Gets Me,” “Low,” and “Shirt” listed as her most popular tracks according to Spotify. “Kill Bill” has also rightfully been receiving attention, charting at No. 2 following every week since its drop.

The highly anticipated album was released last December. It marked SZA’s first full project since her 2017 debut studio effort, Ctrl. Since then, the Missouri-born singer has released various singles and collaborations. She recently dropped Grammy award-nominated “Good Days” and “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. While SZA received primarily positive feedback from SOS, she was criticized for making “sad girl music.” The lyricist addressed these accusations in her NYT interview, explaining that “sad-girl energy has always been my energy. It’s never been, like, bitch-girl energy.”

Even with haters finding a way to nitpick SOS, the work as a whole is an incredible display of SZA’s refined taste in modern R&B. Her melodic additions to soft beats infuse magically to inflict emotional insights. Needless to say, SOS proudly inhibits “sad girl energy,” creating the perfect soundtrack for comforting a heartbreak. While only time will tell if SZA will surpass the ten-week mark for top album, her SOS Tour commences this week in Columbus, OH. Revisit the starlet’s “Kill Bill” music video below.
