Usher Picked Winnie Harlow As The Next Celebrity To Serenade At His Vegas Show, But She Had Other Plans

Usher’s Las Vegas residency has drawn a lot of attention over the past several days. Namely, his schtick of pulling women out of the crowd to serenade them on stage has drawn plenty of scrutiny after one of those women, Keke Palmer, was criticized by her boyfriend for her wardrobe choices. This led to days of discourse, and perhaps inevitably, to excited anticipation of the next lucky lady — or potential backlash victim.

The latest is model Winnie Harlow, who attended the show with her boyfriend, NBA player Kyle Kuzma, over the weekend. She reposted a fan-recorded clip in which Usher began to mosey over but gave up on the approach as Harlow scooched over into Kuzma’s lap. She gave the post a jovial caption, which read: Figured out the secret to the Usher concert.. sit in your mans lap Mamas. He said ‘She Chose!!!’ Okayyyy”

The whole mess started last weekend, when a video of Palmer slow-dancing with Usher in a sheer dress went viral. Palmer’s partner (and child’s father), Darius Jackson, groused, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom,” on Twitter, leading to such a backlash against him that he deleted his accounts (but not before doubling down on the criticism, whining, “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is.”)

Jackson reactivated his account later, thanking Elon Musk for allegedly helping him clean up his mentions. For her part, Keke seemed unfazed by his reaction, even going so far as to turn his commentary into merch.

Another woman whose Usher moment got some viral scrutiny was Bay Area rapper Saweetie, who appeared to be too stoned to do much more than smize at Usher while he serenaded her. Some fans criticized her perceived lack of enthusiasm, but it seemed pretty clear to others that she was too caught up in the moment to worry about how she was going to look online.

Keke Palmer Speaks On Her Body In Steamy New Instagram Video

If you haven’t been online in the past week or so, Keke Palmer found herself in a lot of drama with her boyfriend Darius Jackson that social media got into a heavy (and ongoing) debate over. During Usher’s concert, he serenaded her, which prompted Jackson to criticize her revealing outfit for the show. Of course, with them unfollowing each other and a lot of discussion surrounding this spat, pretty much everything the actress and artist does is going to fall within that context. Still, it seems like she’s brushing it all off. Moreover, Palmer recently posted a video of herself strutting her stuff with audio of a song off her recent album, Big Boss.

“‘Don’t think idk what this body do,’” Keke Palmer captioned the post, a reference to the lyrics of the track that eerily (and maybe intentionally) match the current situation. “‘So good that you wanna hide me from the truth.’ Get into the new album #BigBoss.” Whatever your take is on Jackson’s issues, at least she’s not making things messier online. After all, that’s a very personal and tough conversation to have, especially considering that they recently welcomed a child into the world.

Keke Palmer’s Suggestive New Instagram Post

Regardless, the media flooded the Internet with takes on Keke Palmer’s debacle, including Charlamagne Tha God. In fact, he painted Usher as the true villain to blame in this whole whirlwind. “The man walks around the residency scouting on a straight search and destroy mission,” he said on The Breakfast Club. “Looking for women to find so he can pull them out of the crowd, serenade them and destroy their household. We ain’t seen him serenade a single lady yet. All Usher gotta do is say ‘Where the single ladies at?’ And you can go serenade them. That man purposely serenaded Keke Palmer. That man purposely serenaded Saweetie knowing she out here with YG now.”

Meanwhile, the Nope star recently spoke out about her cover for The Cut with some words potentially addressing the subject. “I know the internet can be a cruel place, but for people like me that needed a place to go to escape the confining world around them, it can be beautiful,” she wrote. “I still choose to see the freedom it gave me as a child, as an entertainer and as a millennial. When used wisely, it can be a true gift.” With that in mind, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Keke Palmer.

Keke Palmer Leans Into Her “New Body” On Sultry But Glamorous “The Cut” Cover

After attending Usher’s Las Vegas residency last week, Keke Palmer was put in a seriously awkward situation. As the R&B crooner sweetly serenaded her, in all her mesh-dress-wearing glory, the actress’ boyfriend, Darius Jackson, watched clips of the moment go viral all across social media. In response, the father of one publicly lashed out at Palmer for showing a bit of skin and enjoying attention from someone else. There were some people who took Jackson’s side, but seeing as the former child star is America’s Sweetheart, the number of people criticizing him for his tweets was far higher.

Palmer and her man practically broke the internet with their drama, but she’s not letting things get her in her feelings. Instead, the Chicago native has been securing the bag left, right, and centre with her latest score being a cover story on The Cut magazine. Keke shared the exciting news on Monday (July 10) afternoon, writing a lengthy caption to accompany her sultry but glamorous photo shoot. Each of her outfits is more stunning than the last, from a black and white dress that hugs her curves to a more slinky all-black number she modelled while laying on a bed.

Keke Palmer Graces The Cut‘s Latest Cover

“Thank you to @thecut for such a fabulous and sweet cover story. I can’t even,” Palmer penned in her caption. “When I started performing I stopped going to real school. My mom also used to really scare me about meeting people and forming friends in the industry… Needless to say, I was lonely and looking for normalcy. I was and still am in many ways, your everyday loner even tho I was working on sets and living the ‘dream,’” she vulnerably explained.

While the discourse has mostly died down now, last week the internet was ablaze with commentary on Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson’s relationship drama. It currently remains unclear where the co-parents are at with each other, but as far as her career goes, the 30-year-old has never been better. Keke Palmer Turns Adversity Into Empowerment With New T-Shirt Line & Heartwarming Moments With Son

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer has once again demonstrated her resilience in the face of adversity. After responding to shameful remarks by her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, she broke her social media silence with a TikTok video showcasing her classy response. Usher Serenaded Saweetie Onstage During His Las Vegas Residency, But The ‘Icy Girl’ Kept Her Cool To Avoid ‘Kekegate’

Usher warned fellas not to leave their girls around him in 2002 via his song “U Don’t Have To Call.” YG had no clue that would remain true over 20 years later, when his rumored boo, Saweetie, crossed paths with the singer. The “My Type” rapper traveled to Las Vegas for Usher’s critically acclaimed My Way residency. Little did she know she’ll end up on stage with the musician.

During the fan interaction segment of his show, Usher serenaded Saweetie to his song “There Goes My Baby.” However, she kept her cool to avoid the same public spat with her alleged boyfriend, which Keke Palmer dealt with earlier this week. In the clip captured by a fan, when encouraged to participate, Saweetie played coy, to which Usher remarked, “Oh Saweetie, you’re too cool to sing my song?”

While it’s not clear if this was just a case of stage fright, fans are speculating that Saweetie chose not to join with Usher because she didn’t want to receive any public blowback. Keke Palmer was berated by her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, who is the father to her son Leo, after she was seen dancing and singing along with Usher in a performance prior.

Saweetie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Keke Palmer Is ‘Stevie To The Bullsh*t’ Criticisms Of Her Cozy Dance With Usher

Keke Palmer has been the subject of a minor controversy this week after a video of her flirtatious dance with Usher at his Las Vegas concert drew criticism from plenty of salty men — including Darius Jackson, the father of her four-month-old son. However, to let Ms. Palmer tell it, she doesn’t even see the chatter online according to the caption of her latest Instagram post, which subtly responded to the kefuffle over her viral moment.

“One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through!” she wrote in the caption of a video singing Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” to her son. “To all my mom’s out there, how did your baby change you?? Mine empowered me! On such another level, my perspective changed because when my baby is good I’m GREAT! Look at that face! Gratitude galore.”

Although she doesn’t overtly say it, this looks very much like a clear reference to Jackson’s comments on her video, in which he wrote, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom.” The outfit in question, a sheer unitard over a booty-baring black leotard, had many observers expressing their thirst, appreciation, or disapproval on Twitter (with a strong correlation, in this writer’s opinion, to the individual commenters’ level of “rizz,” as the kids say).

Keke took her response one step further, though, adding that she put some new merch up for sale: Shirts that read “I’m a motha!” and “Stevie to the bullsh*t” — referring to Stevie Wonder’s inability to see negative commentary.

Keke Palmer Dance Diss Video Has Fans Speculating Her & Darius Jackson Were Beefing Before Usher Concert

We’re used to reporting on the drama surrounding couples like Chrisean Rock and Blueface, or Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox. This week, however, it’s been Keke Palmer and her (ex?) boyfriend Darius Jackson in the spotlight after he let insecurities about his co-parent wearing a sheer dress to watch Usher perform in Las Vegas get the better of him. While neither actress nor personal trainer has publicly confirmed the status of their relationship, they seem to have either blocked or unfollowed each other on Instagram. In addition, Jackson has removed all photos of Palmer from his Instagram profile.

Palmer, meanwhile, has finally been reacting to his antics on Friday (July 7) afternoon. Less than an hour ago she shared a sweet video with her infant son Leodis, singing “Isn’t She Lovely” to the young boy as he sits happily in her arms. “One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through! 😍,” the Chicago native wrote in the caption, seemingly clapping back at Jackson’s controversial tweet criticizing her Usher outfit. “To all my mom’s out there, how did your baby change you?? Mine empowered me! On such another level, my perspective changed because when my baby is good I’m GREAT! Look at that face! Gratitude galore,” Keke added before encouraging fans to shop the merch linked in her bio.

Keke Palmer is a MOTHA

Over on TikTok, the former child star kept the same energy while dancing along to a viral audio of herself singing, “If you gon’ act up, I’m ’bout to link up.” It seems Palmer is a woman of her word, as she’s been moving in completely unbothered energy since the feud with Jackson began.

In the comments, many users have been speculating that trouble was brewing long before this “final straw” came. “As a Virgo… It was already issues/problems brewing at home. His public comment was him lashing out in an attempt to get her attention about his underlying insecurities of inferiority,” one person wrote. “He felt a lack [of] respect and importance wayyyy before the Usher show. All of this is just an example of how things could be handled better. If people were raised to have better communication skills versus whatever the hell else they learned.”

Keke Palmer & Darius Jackson Photos Cleared From His Instagram Amid Social Media Return

Keke “Keep A Bag” Palmer doesn’t seem to be in her feelings about her co-parent, Darius Jackson’s latest antics. While they quickly became one of the internet’s favourite couples following the birth of their son in February, things for the young lovers quickly took a turn earlier this week. At the time, the 29-year-old publicly shaded Keke’s outfit of choice for an Usher concert in Las Vegas, during which the R&B heartthrob serenaded her with his silky smooth voice. “It’s the outfit tho… You a mom,” Jackson tweeted on Wednesday (July 5).

At first, fans couldn’t tell whether the father of one was being serious or not. However, his dramatic attitude since leaves us thinking he was genuinely upset over Palmer’s sheer dress and interaction with Usher. Since the initial tweet, social media sleuths realized that Jackson and Palmer no longer follow each other on Instagram. Additionally, the personal trainer briefly deactivated his accounts before resurfacing with limited comments and a private Twitter page.

On Elon Musk’s app, Darius has been busy tweeting Kanye West lyrics like, “I used to want this thing forever, y’all can have it back.” Elsewhere, his IG feed has gone through a notable cleanse, with all evidence of Keke’s face removed from his grid. Their months-old son, Leodis, remains in several of his recent uploads.

As for the former child star, she’s been online too. However, instead of addressing the drama or shading her co-parent, Palmer has left several photos of Jackson up on her Instagram between her many selfies. She also hasn’t let the potential heartbreak stop her from working harder than ever.

Should Keke Palmer Stay With Boyfriend Darius Jackson After Public Shaming?

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer and her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, who is also the father of her child, have found themselves amid public controversy. After a video surfaced of Palmer enjoying Usher’s performance in Las Vegas, Jackson publicly criticized her outfit, sparking a debate about relationships and public shaming. As the couple navigates this turmoil, many question whether […]

Keke Palmer Drama Discussion Drags Chance The Rapper Into The Fray

Some of the spiciest pop culture drama this week is what’s going on between Keke Palmer and her boyfriend Darius Jackson. For those unaware, the Internet stormed on Jackson after he expressed disapproval of Palmer wearing a slightly revealing outfit to Usher’s concert- and many think that he was jealous of him serenading her. Of course, like with any public drama between celebrities, people from every corner stepped in to give their take. In the process, people who called out double standards in this case actually brought up Chance The Rapper, referencing a viral video of him from not too long ago. According to these proponents, social media was happy to bash on Chance but let Keke do something similar.

However, when you really compare the two instances, it’s clear that Keke Palmer has much less to explain on her end than Chance. Moreover, someone filmed the Chicago rapper grinding with a woman that isn’t his wife at a festival, which many took issue with. Still, it’s not like it was complete backlash, as plenty of users still defended it as just harmless fun that we don’t even know if his wife approves of. Regardless, it seems like a stretch to compare an act to a dress, especially when its public nature wasn’t prompted by the couple itself as Jackson did in this case.

Chance The Rapper Video Gets Compared To Keke Palmer Situation

“If I remember correctly, everybody was calling out Chance the Rapper for letting a lady dance on him at Carnival,” one user tweeted about the Keke Palmer situation. “But not many are calling out our Beloved for dancing on Usher, basically doing the same thing as Chance but in reverse. He should’ve straight called her out on this because we all know the outfit wasn’t the real reason for him calling her out. Also should’ve did it behind closed doors. It is what it is though. We can’t be so deep in other people’s relationships when it’s not our business.”

Meanwhile, Chance is far from the first celebrity that users dragged into this mess. Jacquees wants to stay out of it, whereas Usher had a short and cheeky response. Overall, it seems that the moral of this story is to keep relationship stuff to yourself, and to not make a scene online. Come back to HNHH for the latest updates on Keke Palmer and Chance The Rapper.
