Kanye West Claims Self-Defense In Autograph Dealer Assault Lawsuit

Kanye West seeks to dismiss the assault lawsuit against him from an alleged autograph dealer who sought his signature and is claiming self-defense in this case while denying any and all wrongdoing, according to court documents reportedly obtained by Radar Online. For those unaware, Justin Poplawski sued Ye this January in Los Angeles Superior Court for alleged battery and assault, and claimed to be a renowned autograph dealer who got his signature in the past without issue. The story goes that, on January 13 of 2022, Poplawski went to Soho Warehouse in downtown L.A. after hearing the Chicago artist was there.

Furthermore, the lawsuit accuses Kanye West of screaming at the supposed autograph dealer on his way out of the building, referencing his “f***ing divorce” from Kim Kardashian. “Go the f**k [out of] here before I beat you the f**k up. I’m going to make an f***ing example out of you,” he allegedly shouted at Paplowski. Then, the plaintiff claims, the 46-year-old punched his face. “So do you want to get attacked for real?” he allegedly asked Paplowski. When Paplowski allegedly asked Ye to apologize, he claims that he responded with “Apology for what?” Paplowski claims he attacked him several more times and “severely” injured and disfigured him as one of the rapper’s colleagues failed to settle him down.

As such, the lawsuit demands unspecified damages for medical expenses and mental strain. “Defendant is informed and believes, and based on such information and belief, alleges that Defendant was justified in doing any and/or all of the acts alleged in the Complaint,” the reportedly filed response reads. “All of the purported causes of action in the Complaint [become null] to the extent [Kanye West] acted in defense of himself and/or others. [West] acted reasonably and in good faith at all times material herein, based on all relevant facts and circumstances known to [West] at the time [West] so acted.”

The “CARNIVAL” creative requested that the court dismiss this case, award him attorney fees, and deny Paplowski any damages. Kanye West Leaks Adidas Memo Allegedly Conspiring Against Him

Kanye West is not giving up in his battle with adidas to call out their business practices amid their new rollout of Yeezys. For those unaware, he claimed that this new initiative to sell the remaining sneaker inventory with new colorways emerged without his approval. Not only that, but Ye alleged that the company was still suing him for hundreds of millions of dollars and refusing to pay him. Now, he leaked an alleged adidas memo on Instagram on Thursday (February 29) that supposedly gives employees various “talking points” when it comes to their debacle. Specifically, it advises employees to “please refrain from extended conversations” about the clash and to emphasize the brand’s sole ownership of Yeezy designs, proper licensing and process of upholding contract agreements, and the years-long completed state of these new designs.

“This is the document that they give employees at adidas when asked questions about Yeezy,” Kanye West captioned the post. “There is an overlap to adidas and Kim ignoring my opinion on where my kids go to school or people ignoring my name change or the entire celebrity culture ostracizing me for my political opinion. It all comes down to human rights which you sacrifice when you’re stigmatized with mental issues. All these situations are actually far cr*zier than what I’ve been branded to be.”

Kanye West Calls Out Adidas Again

Furthermore, this news actually contrasts interestingly with the success of Ye’s Ty Dolla $ign collab album Vultures. Moreover, the project just cemented itself as the number one album on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the U.S. for another week following its chart-topping debut. It narrowly beat out another big album, Yeat’s 2093, for the top spot, and all artists have plenty of reason to celebrate. In fact, Ty recently took to Twitter on Sunday (February 25) to celebrate this accolade with a selfie holding up a single finger. “Not the 2,” he captioned his pic.

Furthermore, Ty Dolla Sign’s been enjoying a lot of success as a result of his collaborative album with Kanye West. His numbers are greater than they’ve ever been, and more importantly, many folks finally gave him the full-length flowers that were usually reserved to guest appearances. Regardless, the Los Angeles native hasn’t escaped a lot of the controversy behind Vultures, although most of that falls on Ye’s antisemitism, career relationships, and far-right ties. While it’s a matter of personal preference, there’s a strong argument for Ty Dolla Sign being the most consistently compelling and skillful part of Vultures. Future installments (which Timbaland says are on the way) might reflect this too, or perhaps Kanye West will step things up a notch. Either way, there’s a lot of excitement for this project’s future, which is supposed to bring Vultures 2 next week if initial teases are to be believed. It’s a Ye rollout, so we aren’t holding our breath.

Whether or not these future installments land on streaming services (and face removal again), the “Blasé” creative made his mark. “Vultures” Beats Yeat’s “2093” For No. 1, Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Get Second Week On Top

The Billboard 200 albums chart dated March 2 might go down as one of the most competitive of 2024 when it comes to its two top spots. Despite previous reports, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative album Vultures 1 ended up beating out Yeat’s 2093 for the number one spot. Moreover, Vultures spends its second week atop the charts with around 75,000 equivalent album units in its second week in the U.S., according to Billboard themselves and Luminate, an independent data provider. On the other hand, 2093 debuts at the No. 2 spot with around 70,000 album equivalent units, which is the California native’s best-performing week yet on the chart.

As for 2093, this album had a couple of versions come out which contributed to this chart performance. First, the project’s core edition released on Friday, February 16, with 22 songs and a whole lot of praise from casuals and die-hards alike. Then, Yeat dropped two new songs for it the following day, these being “As We Speak” with Drake and “Never quit.” Finally, on February 21, he dropped a version of the LP with four additional tracks exclusively on his website.

Moreover, one of the biggest issues that the Yeezy-donning duo faced was that of sample clearances, and one of these cases relates to a legendary track. For those unaware, they used Donna Summer’s classic “I Feel Love” on their song “GOOD (DON’T DIE),” which the legendary artist’s estate claimed they didn’t clear properly. As such, the track disappeared off Spotify, but on Saturday (February 24), fans noticed that it’s back on the tracklist, although they still have a lot of questions.

For one, when you actually click on “GOOD (DON’T DIE)” on Vultures 1‘s tracklist, the cover art that appears in your Spotify player will appear with an odd, amateurish, digitally illustrated cover -– at least, as of writing this article. It’s unclear if this is just a glitch, an intentional choice, or a mistake to be rectified soon, but either way, it points to this song’s return as incomplete, or at least contested. Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign are currently in Europe for some listening events, so we don’t know how on top of all this they are. Either that, or they wanted to make the best troll artist description they could come up with while taking shots at the Internet’s busiest music nerd. Moreover, on their artist page on the streaming platform under the moniker ¥$, their bio is a bizarre and most likely fake Q&A excerpt that goes over some curious claims, including references to music critic Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop. Hats off to whichever fan was cheeky enough to include this and do so successfully, or to Ye and Ty Dolla to taking very legitimate criticism of their work (particularly the former’s) with some sense of humor.

We’ll include the whole bio here in case it really is fake and Apple Music takes it down soon. Before that, this is notable because Anthony Fantano called Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures “unreviewable” for its quality and the antisemitic background behind it. That caused an absolute uproar online from Ye stans and melonheads alike. Whether you agree or not, it’s fair to say that things definitely went a little too far in folks’ responses to this.
