Kanye West Documentary & Podcast Being Developed By The BBC

Netflix has already given us the jeen-yuhs trilogy, but another documentary about Kanye West might be on the way. The next West wave will surely arrive soon, but for now, the rapper has been laying low. It was rumored that he wed Biaca Censori just months after his divorce from Kim Kardashian was finalized. Neith West or Censori have confirmed the news, but they were spotted this week with Russell Simmons enjoying Valentine’s Day.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports the BBC is looking to work on a new documentary about the Donda star. Not only that, but an accompanying eight-part podcast is also being considered. The outlet stated the tentative title is We Need to Talk About Kanye, mirroring the controversial exposé, We Need to Talk About Cosby.

Deadline described the documentary: “Unfolding against the backdrop of West aka Ye’s 2024 U.S. election campaign, and at a time when his anti-Semitic rantings and behavior have sparked outrage and a re-evaluation of his place in popular culture, the one-off documentary follows Azhar as he attempts to understand the complex journey that led the singer to become one of the most famous and creatively successful artists of his generation.”

The podcast will be titled The Kanye Story and will further dig deep into the controversial hitmaker. It has been assumed that West will not participate in the documentary or podcast. However, he is known to be a person full of surprises and may be willing to share his story. Still, there has not been confirmation that West will appear in either feature.

West’s scandals have resulted in a massive financial fallout. Although he has made controversial remarks for years, after he aligned himself with Hitler, things took a dramatic turn. His longstanding partnership with Adidas ended, and several companies stated they would not work with West in the future. It is speculated that the rapper is preparing for the 2024 Presidential Election, but he has yet to make any official statements regarding his participation.

Timbaland Suggests Kanye West Should Perform At Super Bowl

In the last few years, the Super Bowl halftime show has embraced hip-hop and R&B artists more than ever. Rihanna’s performance on Sunday (Feb. 12) was just the latest portion of this trend. 2022 saw an incredible West Coast hip-hop tribute with Dr. Dre and friends. 2020 saw a spectacular solo performance by The Weeknd. 2019 saw Travis Scott and Big Boi of Outkast join Maroon 5 on stage. All of these dynamic artists on the big screen have shown the world how great these genres are.

These continuously marvelous performances have made fans consider what other rappers or singers they would want to see at the big game. Additionally, they have also made people ponder who else could have been added to these performances. For example, Jay-Z and Roc Nation helped Rihanna prepare for her performance, though Hov did not get brought out to perform. Along with Jay-Z, some fans also wished Kanye West could have joined Rih on stage. Rihanna performed songs that both Jay-Z and Ye were part of. These included “All of the Lights,” “Run This Town” and “Umbrella.” Regardless, she still did an impeccable job.

Timbaland Campaigns For Ye

Of these people hoping to see Ye at the Bowl was his longtime friend and collaborator Timbaland. Timbaland has helped produce Ye hits like “Good Life” and “Stronger,” as well as many of JESUS IS KING‘s songs. This is likely why he wants to see Ye have his own set at the Super Bowl someday. In a recent Instagram video, he explains his reasoning. “Yo I was thinking, if Kanye was to do the Super Bowl, that almost would be like watching Motown 25,” he said. “Cause that boy is serious. Don’t you ever forget it.” Additionally, Timbaland captioned his video with: “Dat boy ye doing the Super Bowl. They wouldn’t be ready.”

It would probably not be very likely that Ye would do a Super Bowl anytime soon. Unfortunately for Timbaland, his recent comments regarding the Jewish community would probably keep him from this stage. But, that does not mean that his impact is still not being felt. Some fans noticed that Rihanna’s outfit for her performance heavily resembled Kanye’s from one of the Donda listening parties. So, while Ye likely won’t hit the Super Bowl stage soon, his songs and aura are still felt.

Kanye West & Bianca Censori Spend Valentine’s Day With Russell Simmons

He hasn’t confirmed or denied whether or not he wed Bianca Censori, but Page Six is offering a peek into Kanye West’s Valentine’s Day. Months ago, West’s divorce from Kim Kardashian was finalized after a lengthy, arduous process. It was later reported the rapper married once more, this time to his Yeezy architect, Censori. The rumored couple hasn’t spoken about the speculation regarding their romance, but they have been photographed by paparazzi as they travel around the world.

Yesterday (February 14), millions celebrated Valentine’s Day by spending time with the ones they love. According to Page Six, West and Censori were in Los Angeles enjoying a movie night at the AMC Theatre in Hollywood. However, it wasn’t just the two of them for a date night; they were joined by music giant Russell Simmons.

It has been reported that Simmons relocated to Bali following several allegations of sexual assault. Yet, Simmons was back in California with a beaming smile as he spent time with the controversial star and his rumored wife. While outside of the movie theater, West was approached by a woman and seemed to engage in a brief conversation. The nature of that chat remains a mystery.

West has remained relatively quiet in recent months after a firestorm of controversy. He floated through several platforms, stopping for interviews where he declared his admiration for Hitler. The Rap icon was accused of being a Nazi sympathizer as he disparaged the Jewish community. The scandal cost West lucrative partnerships and business deals, including his longstanding relationship with Adidas.

These days, it is speculated that West is preparing for the 2024 Presidental Election. His sweeping loss in the last election hasn’t deterred him from pressing forward. However, his platform remains unclear. Although West’s polarizing views have been discussed at length, his political ideologies as a whole are a mystery. Yet, West has aligned himself with controversial, far-right political figures who have further thrust him into infamy.

Kanye West Burger Lawsuit Dropped As He Goes MIA

The never-ending saga of Kanye West‘s life continues with a dropped lawsuit over an Australian burger joint. Ye filed the lawsuit against College Dropout Burgers owner Mark Elkhouri over the usage of his 2004 debut album’s name. According to WA Today, the rapper accused Elkhouri of his misleading and deceptive choices, as the restaurant owner had never contacted Ye about using “College Dropout.” But, after mysteriously going AWOL, Ye’s lawyers have had enough.

The initial 43-page court statement was filed back in October of 2022. The claim referred to Ye’s status as one of the top 100 artists of all time, insinuating that the usage of his name in any business automatically references the rapper. Accordingly, Elkhouri was to destroy any materials related to Ye’s personal branding. Needless to say, this included his Australian trademark application for College Dropout Burger. Elkhouri had reportedly complied by removing signature art pieces and logos related to Ye from his establishment. This included a mural of Ye, as well as the logo referencing the album covers bear. The case has been dropped, however, not because of Elkhouri’s cooperation, but because the 45-year-old rapper has gone AWOL.

Ye’s Lawyers Want Out

Ye has been known for stirring controversial views, and often goes against the status quo. Most recently, Ye has struck up disappointment with his comments praising Adolf Hitler, and self-identifying as a nazi. These recent remarks urged Education Minister Jason Clare to declare Ye’s ban from Australia. Despite 24 Grammy wins and placing as the United State’s fourth-highest certified artist by digital singles, Ye still finds himself on a slippery slope.

Just this month, Ye’s lawyers have officially cut ties with the rapper due to his unresponsive behavior. In a report released by AllHipHop, the legal team working with Ye on a copyright case was unable to contact the “Runaway” singer in order to denounce him. Accordingly, they took to newspaper ads to publicly announce their separation from Ye. The presiding judge questions how extensively the legal team tried to contact their client. However, this is certainly not the first time that Ye has found himself under fire with the law.

Sarah Silverman Thinks She Knows Why Rihanna Didn’t Bring Out Kanye During Her Super Bowl Performance: ‘There Wasn’t Enough Room For Her Dancers To Form A Swastika’

Whether you loved it or not, people can’t stop talking about Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, which might go down in history as the most watched public pregnancy announcement in the history of the world. While Donald Trump wasn’t impressed by what he called an “EPIC FAIL” of a performance, RiRi somehow managed to overcome the former president’s review and dethrone Taylor Swift as Spotify’s top artist.

Amongst detractors, two of the biggest complaints seemed to be Rihanna’s decision to not turn the halftime spectacle into a who’s who of former collaborators. Yet she was also criticized for “honoringKanye West by including “All of the Lights” in her medley of hits — a song she performed with Ye, which appeared on his 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Which only goes to prove that you can’t please everyone — though Sarah Silverman has a pretty solid theory as to why the artist formerly known as Kanye wasn’t invited by Rihanna to participate. As the comedian explained during her first night as The Daily Show’s newest guest host:

Some people were surprised that Rihanna didn’t bring out Kanye West during “All of the Lights.” But when you think about it, it makes sense. Because there wasn’t enough space for her dancers to form a swastika.

While the comment was met with some surprise by the audience, Silverman assured viewers that “I can say that because I’m a Nazi.”

You can watch Silverman’s full review of Rihanna’s performance — and how she upped the bar for pregnant women everywhere — above.

Anti-Defamation League Links Kanye West’s Rants To 30 Anti-Semitic Incidents

Kanye West George Floyd

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recently reported that Kanye’s anti-Semitic rants were linked to 30 incidents in the US targeting Jewish people.

“These incidents — which include vandalism, banner drops, targeted harassment and campus propaganda distributions — demonstrate the ongoing influence of Ye’s conspiratorial, bigoted rants,” the ADL wrote.

“Immediately following Ye’s antisemitic comments, which included inflammatory tropes about Jewish power and Holocaust denial, the slogan ‘Ye Is Right’ surfaced online in hashtags and antisemitic accounts. The ADL Center on Extremism has also tracked references to ‘Ye Is Right’ in instances of on-the-ground antisemitic vandalism and harassment nationwide.”

Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the ADL, said in a statement to Billboard that Ye is inspiring people to commit “real-world acts of hate.”

“Kanye West’s repeated antisemitic remarks – and his dredging up some of the worst anti-Jewish tropes imaginable – doubtlessly are having an impact and inspiring people to commit real-world acts of hate,” Greenblatt stated. “As we have long maintained, celebrities and others who engage in spreading hateful tropes need to know their words have consequences. Unfortunately, Kanye’s decision to continue to peddle hatred against Jews is only giving encouragement to people who are already infected with hate.”

The ADL’s report also stated that anti-Semetic remarks have gone up on Twitter following Elon Musk’s takeover of the social media company. The lessened restrictions allowed for the creation of the “Ye Is Right” slogan which has been used over 9,400 times on the platform.

Rihanna’s Performance Of Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” Disappoints Fans

Rihanna delivered a stunning performance for her anticipated Super Bowl halftime show. On Sunday night, the “Lift Me Up” singer gave a set that captured the essence of her 17-year career. She performed career-making records like “Diamonds” and bangers like “Pour It Up” and “Bitch Better Have My Money.” Most praised Rihanna for returning to the stage, especially since she revealed that she’s pregnant with her second child. It was a 13-minute reminder of Rihanna’s impact since she emerged with her debut single “Pon De Replay.”

Rihanna previously revealed that she had trouble narrowing down her setlist at first. During her press conference with Nadeska Alexis, Rih explained that she re-did her set nearly 40 times to ensure that it was perfect. “The setlist was the biggest challenge,” she said. “You’re trying to cram seventeen years of work into thirteen minutes so it’s difficult.” And while Rihanna did a spectacular job with the set, many were surprised by some of her selections. She didn’t perform records like “Stay” or “S&M” but she delivered renditions of some of her biggest collabs.

Kanye’s Presence Was Felt During Rihanna’s Performance

While Ye is basically exiled from the entertainment industry due to his harmful anti-Semitic commentary, Rihanna still went forward with performing a few songs she’s worked on with him. She performed Jay-Z’s “Run This Town,” which seems like a pretty obvious selection for the Super Bowl,” as well as Ye’s “All Of The Lights.” Additionally, she performed “Bitch Better Have My Money,” which boasts co-production from Ye, Deputy, Travis Scott, and Wondagurl. Needless to say, Rihanna paid tribute to her long-standing collaborative relationship with Ye over the years.

In addition to the performance of “All Of The Lights,” some fans felt as though Rihanna subtly paid homage to Kanye, who joked about being her special guest, during her set. A few people suggested the all-red jumper look took inspiration from Ye’s red puffer jacket that he wore during the Donda listening sessions. Some even joked that Ye directed the whole set, especially with the use of the hanging stage, which Ye famously used during the Life Of Pablo tour. Still, Rihanna’s decision to perform some records she collaborated on with Ye left some feeling as though she should’ve brought him out and others disgusted by the inclusion.
