On this date in 2009, Hip Hop’s most recognized cultural icon dropped his eleventh album entitled The Blueprint 3 on the Roc Nation/Asylum/Atlantic imprint.
Produced by Hov himself, Kanye, No I.D.This Jigga project boasted more guest appearances than any of his previously released full-length albums, the Neptunes, Swizz Beatz, and several others. The singles from this LP are arguably some of Jay-Z’s most recognized songs by millennials; “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune),” “Run This Town,” ” “Empire State of Mind” and “On to the Next One” were chart-topping tracks during the summer and fall of 2009 and will forever be remembered as some of Hov’s most revered hits.
Commercially speaking, this album became Jay-Z’s eleventh number one album, breaking the record of pole position albums he once shared with Elvis Presley. Selling almost a half-million copies in its first week, TB3 was certified platinum by the RIAA within two months of its release. Currently, the album has sold over 3 million copies.

Kanye West is suing an Instagram User for leaking his music. The page @daunreleasedgod_ is the subject of a lawsuit for posting unreleased tracks.
According to TMZ, the suit states Ye does not know the owner but has previously worked with him and signed a confidentiality agreement. The leaks would violate the agreement. Once the page’s owner is discovered, the lawsuit will be updated with their names.
The suit states over 20 leaked songs from Ye have made it to Instagram and Twitter. The tracks included collaborations with DJ Khaled and DaBaby. Also, there were leaked references for Rihanna and will.I.am.
Kanye West is reportedly now under police investigation for a recent incident in Venice in which the star music producer took a boat ride with his butt on open display with his supposed wife Bianca Censori. According to the Daily Mail, Venice police issued a statement saying that West and Censori may have breached “standards of public decorum” and that police plan to question the boat’s driver. They also ask photographers who grabbed shots of West’s southern exposure to turn those in.
A public security councilor, Elisabetta Pesce, told the Mail, “Without any shadow of doubt what we saw from the couple was a lack of respect for Venice, which is the most enchanting city in the world.” Meanwhile a police spokesperson said, “Without any shadow of doubt what we saw from the couple was a lack of respect for Venice, which is the most enchanting city in the world. The statement adds, “We completely dissociate ourselves from such acts and behaviour. Mr. West and his wife will certainly no longer be welcome on board our company’s boats.”
After the photos surfaced, it was reported that Kim Kardashian was “embarrassed and worried” for her ex-husband, although later reports indicated she’s not “concerned” about his antics unless it impacts their shared children.

There are still so many pop cultural ties dating back to a viral moment at the 2009 MTV VMAs.
