Danny Brown Reveals He’s Working On A New Solo Album

Danny Brown had a monstrous 2023. The rapper released his sixth studio album, Quaranta, to universal praise. He also dropped the feature-length collab Scaring the Hoes with JPEGMafia. The joint album took over the internet, and went on to become the most beloved release of both of their careers. Hip-hop has been waiting to see what Brown would do next, and he finally confirmed that he was back in the studio during a May 22 concert.

Danny Brown put on electric show at the Forum Kentish Town in London. The Detroit rapper took fans through a set list of some of his greatest hits, but the real takeaway from the show was that he is working on his next solo album. “What I will say,” he told the crowd. “I am working on my new album right now, so, as soon as I’m done with that sh*t, I’ll be right back here with you motherf*ckers.” The crowd went nuts over the news. Brown was encouraged by the response, and shared more information about the writing process.

Danny Brown Claimed To Be Writing Every Night

“Every night after the show I’m in my hotel room,” he explained. “I’m writing new songs every night. I’m not f*cking with these b*tches no more.” The last line was said in a sardonic tone, but it still managed to get cheers from the members of the audience. To be fair to Danny Brown, he has taken a much healthier approach to making music that he did a decade prior. The rapper talked about the transition from heavy drug use to sober songwriting during a 2023 interview with NPR. “Once I got clean, it was like, no, that’s just you anyway,” he said, admitting to a fear of being a worse writer once clean. “I’m better than ever. It just took some time for me to get back to being me again.”

The mature outlook has manifested in his music. Quaranta is considered to be Danny Brown’s most mature effort to date, and he attributed much of it to living habits. “Now, me being older, I just want to be happy,” he reasoned. “Not doing sh*t that kills me, but sh*t that makes me [feel] live. And music is one of those things that I feel like that keeps me young. And just the hip-hop lifestyle in general. You don’t gotta be f* up to live the hip-hop lifestyle.” If Scaring the Hoes is anything to go by, we’d say Brown hasn’t lost any of his musical edge.

Kanye West Was Spotted Wearing A T-Shirt Of An Alleged Neo-Nazi Musician, Months After His Antisemitism Apology

During a recent interview, Kid Cudi raved about the feud-ending apology he received from Kanye West. However, it seems that not all of Ye’s apologies are made equal.

In 2022, the “Through The Wire” rapper found himself in a storm of controversy following a string of insensitive remarks made toward the Jewish community. The comments continued during West’s sit-down with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson. The public backlash grew increasingly difficult to manage when West doubled down on his stance. However, in December 2023, West seemingly had time to reflect on his statement and decided to issue an apology. But it appears West has had a change of heart.

While hanging out with fellow musician Jpegmafia, West was photographed wearing a t-shirt of alleged neo-nazi heavy metal musician Kristian Varg Vikernes. As the pair posed for the flick, captioned: “Can’t talk right now. Doing hot girl sh*t,” users flooded Jpegmafia’s comment section to call out his rumored collaborator’s wardrobe choice.

West isn’t the only rapper to face a heap of blowback due to their clothing. Last year, fans called out Doja Cat for wearing merchandise of alleged ne0-Nazi Sam Hyde. Shortly after, Doja Cat released a public apology, though many believe the statement was insincere.

As of January 21, West has not addressed the matter.

Kanye West Wears T-Shirt With Controversial Metal Singer On It

Kanye West getting into controversy is nothing new but it’s almost impressive how many different ways he manages to find trouble. Earlier this week underground rap darling JPEGMAFIA went on a viral rant about West. He called the “Heartless” rapper out for working with collaborators that don’t care as much about their musical output. Seemingly as a result of the rant the pair met up earlier this week. Peggy shared a trio of photos of the two together to Instagram today that left fans surprised and confused.

But after that initial shock wore off, fans noticed something else equally surprising. In the photos JPEGMAFIA shared, Kanye West is wearing a t-shirt sporting the logo of pioneering black metal band Burzum and their lead singer Varg Vikernes. While that may not mean much to many, he’s a well-known and extremely controversial figure in the metal scene. The Norwegian musician notoriously spent 15 years in prison for murder and arson. Since being released he’s expressed a number of controversial far-right views. In the past, he’s often flirted with antisemitism, anti-immigrant sentiments, and even outright Nazism. Check out the pictures of Kanye sporting a Burzum shirt below.

Kanye West’s Controversial Shirt

The move came as a surprise for many of West’s fans. He’s spent the past week attempting to walk back on some of the antisemitic views he’s expressed in the past year. Rumors have swirled that West recorded an extensive apology video for some of his comments though it hasn’t been made available in full.

Earlier this month, West took to Instagram with an apology post in Hebrew. Though the post did see him trying to walk back on his comments it was criticized by some groups for alleged insincerity and even faced accusations of being AI- generated. West’s Burzum shirt isn’t going to make his attempts to walk back on past comments any easier. What do you think of Kanye West wearing a controversial metal artist’s shirt in new photos with JPEGMAFIA? Let us know in the comment section below.

JPEGMAFIA & Kanye West Come Together After Former’s Viral Rant: Photo

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures being delayed multiple times hasn’t come as a surprise to their fans. The father of four’s past few LPs have all been revealed to the world on their own timeline, independent of promises made on social media. We first thought it might drop in the final days of 2023, and later on January 12 – coinciding with Kid Cudi’s INSANO album. Now, it’s said to be hitting DSPs on February 9, but only time will tell if the artists come through.

Despite not delivering new music, West has been shamelessly outside and networking with fellow creatives, including JPEGMAFIA. Seeing these two come together is something of a surprise, especially after all the 34-year-old had to say about Yeezy in his since-deleted online rant this week. “Also Kanye West I respect [you], but the way [you] acknowledge n****s who have less to offer [you] than me makes me feel a way,” Peggy vented. “I’m a scientist in the lab, a surgeon bruh. And [you] skip over me for n****s that’s getting they baby mommas f**ked on camera. I wanna make money f**k these n****s.”

Kanye West and Peggy Come Face-to-Face

On Friday (January 19), JPEG’s Twitter/X page lit up with a new photo of him and Ye together in all-black ensembles. The “All Falls Down” hitmaker wore a shark tooth necklace to match the new shiny addition to his mouth, while the New York native let a simple gold cross chain hang outside his black jacket. “Vultures 🦅,” Peggy wrote in his caption, potentially suggesting he and West have a collaboration on the way.

Elsewhere online, Kanye West proudly showed off his new James Bond-inspired teeth on social media. The rumours of the Atlanta-born entertainer having his chompers removed to wear them have been dispelled, but his firstborn, North West, is already flashing some shiny new grills of her own. Check out the tween’s bold smile enhancement at the link below, and let us know if you’d like to hear JPEGMAFIA appear on Vultures in the comments.

Jpegmafia And Danny Brown’s Chaotic ‘Lean Beef Patty’ Puts Their Own Spin On A Resurgent Sample

Over the past year or so, elder millennials have been dismayed to learn that the 15-year sample cycle has finally gotten to some of our high school classics. Ice Spice, the rap it-girl of the moment, snatched a sample of Diddy’s “I Need A Girl, Part 2” for one of her latest viral favorite singles, “Gangsta Boo” with Lil Tjay, and now, another pair of rappers from the opposite end of the spectrum have hijacked the sample for their own use.

Jpegmafia, who is pretty well known for his love of unusual sounds and contrarian approaches to popular hip-hop, teams up with Danny Brown for “Lean Beef Patty,” a chaotic track that speeds up the 2002 hit and combines it with a pounding, electronic synth to truly unsettling effect. The self-produced track is set to appear on Jpeg and Danny’s upcoming joint project, Scaring The Hoes, Vol. 1, which is named after a popular meme about playing unusual rap music at parties and “scaring the hoes.” Both rappers know a thing or two about this sort of unfair characterization.

But if unconventional rap music is your thing, you could do worse than a joint album featuring the two hip-hop mischief makers. You can pre-order Scaring The Hoes here.
