Cordae Reveals Incredible Guest Features For “Crossroads” Album

Cordae is not messing around. The rapper has a solid resume thanks to albums like The Lost Boy and From a Bird’s Eye View, but he seems poised for a breakthrough. He’s been dropping some of his best music to date in 2024 in preparation for his upcoming album, Crossroads. The rapper has been hard at work on the album since 2022, which is set to be a direct sequel to From a Bird’s Eye View. It’s been a long wait, but Cordae has finally dropped the tracklist and guest features for Crossroads. And one look proves this thing will be worth the wait.

Crossroads boasts 16 tracks, which will make it his longest album to date. The rapper has hinted at a nostalgic theme running through the album, based on buzz singles like “Summer Drop” and “Saturday Mornings.” Both of these songs are present on the tracklist, and boast stunner guest appearances from Anderson .Paak and Lil Wayne. The latter has heaped praise upon Cordae in the past, and been cited as one of Cordae’s biggest influences. As a result, Weezy will also be featured on the song “Back on the Road.”

Cordae Will Collab With Idols Like Weezy And Ye

Cordae tapped some of his generational peers for Crossroads. Jordan Ward and Ravyn Lenae both appear on the song “Don’t Walk Away,” which is poised to be an R&B stunner given the talent on hand. Joey Badass will also drop by for inevitable bar-fest that will be “Syrup Sandwiches.” The rest of the album, however, will feature rappers that Cordae grew up listening to. In addition to two Weezy guest spots, Crossroads will boast appearances from Juicy J and Kanye West. Juicy J will drop by for “Neva Seen It,” while West is set to rap on “No Bad News.”

Cordae has never worked with Kanye West before. He has, however, praised West several times in the past. Cordae rapped over West’s 2005 classic “Gone” during a viral concert clip in 2021. He also cited the Chicago rapper as his “biggest musical influence” during a 2022 interview with All the Smoke. He’s worked with Juicy J, however, appearing on the veteran emcee’s 2024 album Ravenite Social Club. We can’t wait to hear what Cordae has in mind for these collabs.

Cordae & Joey Bada$$ Show Pride In Their Grind On “Syrup Sandwiches”

In just one week, Cordae will be dropping off his third solo project The Crossroads. It will consist of 17 tracks with the currently known features being Anderson .Paak (x2), Lil Wayne, and Joey Bada$$. Speaking of the latter, he’s potentially on the final teaser track for Cordae’s tape called “Syrup Sandwiches.” For those who are unaware, syrup sandwiches are exactly what they sound like. However, they represent something much more than a sweet treat. They are brought up in rap music quite a bit, with Kendrick Lamar probably being the biggest MC to do so. He referenced the snack on his chart-topper “HUMBLE.”

Ayy, I remember syrup sandwiches and crime allowances.” These are very popular amongst those growing up in poverty-stricken areas and are a cheap meal that many grow up on. They also symbolize how far MCs have come from those trying times during their childhoods, which is essentially what this song is all about. Cordae and Joey instead focus on all of things they have accomplished rather than recounting their pasts. Both rappers drop some terrific one liners and do so over a fellow laid-back, almost drum-less instrumental. Spin the new record below and let us know how hype you are for The Crossroads.

“Syrup Sandwiches” – Cordae & Joey Bada$$

Quotable Lyrics:

You’re butlers to me, them young n****s uppin’ the heat
They stuck to the streets, like concrete, the hustle’s in me
They say you gotta beat the block up ’til your knuckles’ll bleed
That mean a n**** gotta rap until the pen out of ink
Your team weak, like Justin Timberlake, y’all been out of sync
A n**** skatin’ on the beat, s***, I could rent out the rink

First released in April, “Wadibusa” quickly became a fan favorite. This remix elevates the song to new heights, offering a dynamic and fresh experience highlighting the global influence of Uncle Waffles and Joey Bada$$.

Joey Bada$$ & Chloe Have Questions About Love On “TELL ME”

Joey Bada$$ has been a busy guy as of late, but not really in terms of his solo music career. He was on set quite a bit for 50 Cent’s Power franchise. Additionally, he’s been lending his talents to other artists work as far as features go. In the last year he’s been working alongside names such as Rome Streetz, Erick the Architect, Conway the Machine, IDK, and more. That all changes today, though, because Joey Bada$$ is back with “TELL ME”. It follows up on two previous solo releases which are “Fallin’” and “Passports & Suitcases” featuring KayCyy.

Both further develop Joey’s sensual/R&B side, something he’s been honing for the last couple of years. He’s got some real hits when he goes in this direction sonically and lyrically, and “TELL ME” could be the next one to do so. This time around, the New Yorker is working with another new collaborator Chloe Bailey, the sister of Halle Bailey. They have some great chemistry over the pounding lowkey beat, and show it by adlibbing for each other, splitting a verse, and singing the chorus together. Throughout the cut, both are asking their respective partners what kind of situation they’re in romantically. It’s a theme that is sure to resonate with all of the hopeless romantics out there and we are vibing with it as well. Hear why below.

Used to play me by the side ’til I got a little buzz like a bumblebee

Powers Pleasant And Joey Badass Sound Triumphant On “Rumble” Single

Powers Pleasant and Joey Badass have a stellar track record. “Purified” and “Pull Up” were radically different songs that proved the rappers could pull off any style with, well style. “Rumble” sounds very different from their previous releases, and they once again crush it. “Purified” was a gritty banger and “Pull Up” was a chilled out posse cut. “Rumble,” on the other hand, is a horn-accented anthem that sounds like it could soundtrack a U.S. Olympics montage. Powers Pleasant knows it too. “This that Olympic gold metal sh*t,” he raps at one point.

The beat is so good that it would make even a mediocre rapper sound good. Fortunately, Powers Pleasant and Joey Badass bring their A-bars. The former busts out a speedy flow that aligns perfectly with the tight horn samples. He gets a little hard to understand at points, but it all sounds so good that it’s easy to forgive. Joey Badass handles the first verse on “Rumble,” and is predictably excellent. He has a more lyrical verse than his partner, with lines about shot clocks melting the booth down. “You are not my friend and I am not the Daila Lama,” he raps. “I keep a couple of choppas. They call me Joey Montana fo we have problems b*tch.” “It’s”Rumble” is a short song, but it leaves a tremendous impact.

BLK ODYSSY & Joey Bada$$ Fawn Over A Dream Lady On “STANK ROSE”

BLK ODYSSY and Joey Badas$$ are falling hard for a woman on their first-ever song together, “STANK ROSE”. This is the fourth single for the New Jersey born singer/songwriter’s third album, 1-800 FANTASY. The project will hit streaming platforms on July 19 and will contain 13 songs. Only three of them will contain features, and those guests additionally include Wiz Khalifa and Harry Edohoukwa. The Austin, Texas based artist is known for his smooth and lowkey delivery over alternative production.

That is what BLK ODYSSY is providing on “STANK ROSE”. Him and Joey are absolutely smitten for a woman who does not really know who they are. However, the two genre-bending artists are tossing and turning every night just thinking about her. The songwriting is a major highlight here, especially on Joey’s part. It makes sense, though, as the New Yorker is well versed in crafting R&B-like bars. You really get the feeling that he has a lot of thoughts running through his head about he can get her to notice him. BLK ODYSSY is no slouch either, delivering a captivating and heartbreaking performance. “STANK ROSE” is definitely worth a spin, and it should be an indicator that great things are coming on 1-800 FANTASY.

Mike Shabb Delivers A Moody Triumph With SEWASIDE III Album

Mike Shabb has been grinding. The Montreal rapper has dropped eight projects in the last four years, including the first two installments in the SEWASIDE series. These releases tucked flashes of brilliance into hazy and often unfinished song ideas. Shabb’s talent was undeniable, but it still felt a step or two away from completely smoothing out. Fortunately, Mike Shabb has made up ground on SEWASIDE III. The latest installment is a step up in every conceivable way.

The first song on the album, “Intro” sets an appropriately moody tone. There’s a quiet confidence in the rapper’s delivery reminiscent of mixtape-era Joey Bada$$. It helps, of course, that the instrumental is a jazzy, propulsive earworm. The instrumentals on SEWASIDE III are spectacular throughout, with more of an emphasis on off-kilter tempos and irregular vocal chops. They are the kind of musical beds that most rappers would have a hard time riding, and yet, they bring out the best in Mike Shabb. The most obvious example of his verbal dexterity is on the album cut “Free Jazz,” where he skates over a beat that sounds like its being improvised on the spot.

Mike Shabb Leans Into Jazzy Instrumentals

That’s not to say that Mike Shabb sidesteps boom-bap entirely. “We Live In Montreal” and “Free Cars” are grimy street tales punctuated by energetic backing vocals. The latter benefits from a scene-stealing guest verse by ANKHLEJOHN. All the features on SEWASIDE III are excellent, which is gives it a leg up over its predecessors. Da$h skates over the stuttering “Free YSL”, while Boldy James sounds right at home on the slow-burn “Big Piranhas.” Shabb’s ability to secure artists of this caliber is a testament to both his buzz and his lyrical talent. People like Da$h and Boldy wouldn’t bother if the kid didn’t have a ton of talent.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album SEWASIDE III by Mike Shabb? Does the Montreal rapper deliver with his latest installment? What is your favorite song and why? Which guest verse stole the show? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Mike Shabb. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.
