Drake Fans Troll Joe Budden After “Pump It Up” Goes Gold After 21 Years

Drake and Joe Budden have a love-and-hate relationship that has stemmed for many years. Overall, Budden is one of Drizzy’s biggest inspirations. If you listen to those early mixtapes, you can hear the Budden influence. When Joe disapproves of something Drizzy does, you can tell the Canadian megastar gets a bit hurt by it. Subsequently, this has led to a bit of a one-sided war between the two. While Joe was the one taking shots in 2016, the script has now flipped, as Budden is the mostly unbothered one.

Recently, Joe’s biggest song “Pump It Up” went gold. During his most recent podcast, Budden was gifted with a gold plaque for the track. This has led to discourse about the song’s impact and how it’s possible that it only went gold in 2024. One explanation is that it is up to the label to apply for RIAA certifications. Budden and Def Jam did not end their relationship on the best of terms, and it could have led to a bit of a delay in the proceedings.

Joe Budden Celebrates

Despite this valuable context, Drake fans decided to get their jokes off, regardless. In the replies to the DJ Akademiks tweet above, fans immediately roasted Budden for his achievement. Many noted that it would never take Drake 25 years for a song to go gold. Moreover, they made sure to get in as many one-hit-wonder jokes as humanly possible. It was all very cruel and ignores the fact that their favorite artist has been a Joe Budden Stan for ages.

Fans Express Surprise

Joe Budden Calls Lil Pump “A Sh*t Stain”

In late January of this year, controversial Miami, Florida rapper and rabid Donald Trump supporter, Lil Pump, unleashed on Joe Budden. Overall, it was a pretty shocking headline, as neither hip-hop figure has seemed to show any ill will toward one another in the past. At the time of this story hitting the internet, XXL mentioned that the “Gucci Gang” MC did co-sign Migos’ diss record “Ice Tray” when it released in 2017. That appears to be the only sliver of causation for Lil Pump to go off on Joe Budden several months ago. As for what the hitmaker said about the now podcaster, he brought his past addiction and assault allegations against women.

“F*** Joe Budden, 43-year-old drug addict [woman beater]”, via an Instagram Story. “[You’re] worthless. Go hit a man, not a [woman]. It’s never okay to hit women, [you’re] a piece of s***”. Now, after pretty much ignoring this random lash out, the equally controversial podcast host is firing back. Whether or not it has something to do with the aforementioned quotes is up for debate. Although, the person who clipped this portion of the episode of Budden’s show mentions that it deals with Pump’s Trump co-sign.

Joe Budden Doesn’t Understand How Lil Pump Is Still Relevant

“I still don’t know why he’s a thing”, he says as he begins his rant. “Like I just think of a s*** stain… a white s*** stain… I’ve never seen him not look s*** stainish…”. After that outburst, he hilariously asks one of his co-hosts, “Is this your man?”, seeing if he’s dealing with any Pump fans. He responds back with a simple, “nope”. Budden, then encourages him to get in on the comedy bit, “Then do some whipping”. A few seconds later, he decides to add him to his “hit list” because he’s an “easy target”. Maybe a diss a track is coming from Joe?

What are your thoughts on Joe Budden calling Lil Pump a “s*** stain”? Do you think this has to do with the latter calling out the former earlier this year? Do you think we will get a diss track from Lil Pump now? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Lil Pump and Joe Budden. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Did Kendrick Lamar Apologize For Dissing Big Sean?

Humans are complex creatures, and nothing demonstrates that more than hip-hop culture’s obsession with tension. From Cardi B and Nicki Minaj’s longstanding civil war of women in the game to Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s track-for-track showdown, beef pays well (in streaming revenue, notoriety, and more).

But not everyone wants to get caught up in an avoidable feud. Behind the scenes, it appears Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar were able to dodge a dust up (despite fans wanting the war of words).

Did Kendrick Lamar Apologize For Dissing Big Sean?

Today (August 2), Big Sean sat down with Charlamagne Tha God for his latest series, Out Of Context, to discuss his hot-and-cold working relationship with Kendrick Lamar. When addressing the unreleased version of the Compton native’s song “Element,” Sean revealed that Lamar privately apologized in a text message exchange for his the bars: “Big Sean keep sneak dissin’, I let it slide / I think his false confidence got him inspired / I can’t make them respect you, baby, it’s not my job / You’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme, boy / Cute-ass raps, get your puberty up.”

Sean also opened up about where he believed the issue actually arose. “Joe Budden and made this, there’s a Kendrick and Big Sean beef,” he said. “To the point where I tried to ignore it. But he made that narrative so f*cking real that I think it really did become a thing.”

Watch Sean’s full interview with Charlamagne above.

Joe Budden Has One Major Issue With Big Sean

Joe Budden is someone who has never shied away from giving his opinion on a wide range of topics. Overall, Budden knows a lot about the hip-hop world. As someone who made a living from music, he knows what comes with it. Furthermore, he was in a lot of beef during his career, so he knows what comes with that as well. Now that he is a podcaster, Budden is free to give his opinion, regardless of whom it might offend.

Recently, Budden decided to go on a bit of a rant as it pertains to Big Sean. During this rant, Budden explained that he is sick of the way Big Sean goes about dissing people. This comes after Sean was accused of taking a jab at Kendrick Lamar during his “On The Radar” freestyle. It was later said that perhaps he was taking shots at Kanye West. Either way, Joe is sick of the confusion.

Joe Budden Gives His Take

“My problem with Big Sean is — respectfully, if you’re watching, Big Sean. I mean no disrespect by this — the vagueness that comes with his disses,” Budden explained. “Big Sean does lyrically diss people, and then we hear it as fans and we get to guessing. And then every guess we [make], he says, ‘You’re wrong.’ But he don’t never tell us who he’s dissing. Not that he has to, but our guesses be sounding accurate to us.”

Let us know what you think of this assessment, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that Joe Budden is right about Big Sean here? How do you feel about the way Big Sean goes about sneak dissing people on his records? Do you see an issue with it? Joe Budden Issued An Apology To Cardi B, And Although The Rapper Seemed To Accept It She Still Had Thoughts

Has Cardi B and Joe Budden’s time as foes come to an end? Well, it sure seems like it. During the latest episode of Joe Budden Podcast, Joe issued a formal apology to Cardi B for his past criticisms of her.

On July 18, the “Like What (Freestyle)” rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) Spaces to clapback at Joe’s disappointment in her sophomore album delays. In the audio recording, Cardi made several allegations about Joe while slamming him for “always taking sh*t” about her. Although Joe denied Cardi’s allegations, he decided to apologize for potentially hurting her feelings. In fact, he went on to profess his admiration for Cardi.

“Cardi is on my list of people I’m going to love no matter what,” he said. “If I’ve ever made a joke that’s offended Cardi B, I’m sorry.”

Cardi took to X with a sassy response of her own.

“I got love for you too, Joe,” she wrote. “But you been changing your tone on me real heavy the last 3 years, whether music or personal. Like when I was goin’ through real sh*t with my marriage in December. You went on ya platform and tried to make that about somebody else and what they got going on. I know criticism comes with the territory. But sometimes the narrative y’all decide to go run with be soooooo toxic. It’s all love tho see you soon.”

It looks like Cardi B is sticking to her forgive but never forget motto.

Joe Budden Tells DJ Akademiks To Stop Reporting About Drake

Joe Budden is a polarizing figure in hip-hop media. He’s been called a hypocrite, especially with regards to his personal life. He’s also been called a hater, as seen in his infamous Lil Yachty interview. The former rapper does make some good points, however. He reflected on the Drake coverage that DJ Akademiks has been doing in recent weeks, and he sees a problem. In Budden’s estimation, Ak’s bias towards the 6 God has made him an unreliable source for fans.

Budden broke it down on an episode of the Joe Budden Podcast. He applauded DJ Akademiks for his journalism skills, but criticized the way Ak has shared it. He pointed to the recent bot allegations that were made against Kendrick Lamar during the NBA finals as a prime example. “Ak is the one on stream during the NBA finals,” Budden asserted. “Good journalistic sh*t you was doing, but you gotta know that any Drake news coming from you is viewed through a different type of eye.” The former Slaughterhouse member pointed to Ak’s relationship with Drake as the problem.

Joe Budden Tried To Give His Former Co-Host Advice

DJ Akademiks shared messages he got from Drake during the Kendrick Lamar battle. Drake even used a sample of Ak on the diss song “Push Ups.” Joe Budden correctly noted that whenever Ak tries to defend Drake, it will look like he’s being given orders by the rapper. “It comes off as a mission sent from Drake,” he explained. His advice to both DJ Akademiks and Drake is to take a couple plays off. Especially in the wake of Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” concert, which was an overwhelming success. “It’s too much to fight,” he added. “You’re gonna look away.”

Joe Budden ultimately urged DJ Akademiks to stop proselytizing on Drake’s behalf. “Ak is the mouth piece,” he complained. “As a Drake fan, I want Ak to stop announcing things about Drake… The Drake releases are much better as a surprise. Anything with Ak reporting it, it just looked a way.” Joe Budden wrapped up his statement by assuring fans that he has respect for DJ Akademiks. He did throw him a bit of a dig, however, when he said that Ak doesn’t care about criticisms because Drake is a “brand builder.” He’s not wrong.

Rubi Rose Tells Joe Budden That She Doesn’t Write Her Own Songs

Rubi Rose had a memorable appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast. The rapper talked about lots of different topics, including her start as a video girl. Rose’s misconception over how old she was when she appeared in the “Bad and Boujee” video caused a firestorm online, but she eventually cleared it up. One topic that didn’t get as much attention, though was Rubi Rose’s songwriting process. While she’s both a rapper and songwriter, according to Wikipedia, she told Budden that she actually didn’t pen most of her own lyrics.

Joe Budden got very frank very fast with his guest, and this included her musical output. Rose’s debut album is set for release in 2024, and the ex-rapper was curious how much she played a hand in writing her songs. The answer? She doesn’t. At all. Joe Budden asked Ruby Rose point blank if she wrote her songs and she said, simply, “No.” There was a moment of awkward laughter when she responded, but the rest of the podcast panel broke out in applause. They commented Rose’s honesty, and then things took a comedic turn when she turned the tables on Budden. “Do you?,” she asks the ex-rapper. Things erupted once again, and Budden smiled before confirming that, “yes,” he does.

Rubi Rose Also Clarified That She’s Not A Gang Member

The debate over writers has reached a fever pitch in hip-hop over the last decade. A lot of the slander has been thrown at Drake, especially in light of the reference tracks that keep surfacing online. Most of the slander, however, has been reserved for female rappers. Coi Leray’s pen game was questioned after demos with lyrics similar to hers leaked in 2022. She hopped on Instagram Live to clear the air. “I’m here to speak for myself and I do want to give a little education real quick,” she asserted. “My whole album. I mean, every single feature written by me, so I know my pen game is super amazing.”

Rubi Rose’s transparency is surprising, even by 2024 standards. She was similarly open about the fact that she wasn’t a gang member. The topic came up after the rapper was seen throwing up gang signs and wearing red in 2022. “I’m not actually a gang member,” she said on the Big Facts podcast. “I know that’s kind of like a joke on the internet…I was around gang members and I just like throwing their gang signs up because it’s cute. I love the color red. I’m in no way a gang member, though.” It’s hard to tell if Rose will have a long career, but it’s inarguable that she’s being real with her fans.

Joe Budden Gives His Definitive Take On Drake’s Legacy Amid Recent Controversies

Over the last month or so, Joe Budden and his podcast co-hosts have had numerous conversations about Drake. Although some may find this to be redundant, the conversations are necessary, and especially relevant. The megastar has been embroiled in feuds with Kendrick Lamar and the entire industry. Moreover, the artist just had a couple of reference tracks leaked, which has led to extended conversations about Drizzy and his legacy in hip-hop.

During the most recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the retired MC spoke about Drake and all of the latest hot takes about him. As you can see in the clip below, Budden noted that while Drake’s placement as an MC might be affected, his legacy remains unscathed. In fact, Joe thinks it would take a lot more than just some reference tracks for Drake’s image to truly take a hit. After over a decade of providing us with hits, Budden is pretty confident of Drake’s current standing in the culture.

Joe Budden Speaks

“I don’t care what Drake does,” Budden said. “For me Drake’s legacy is already cemented, a lot more has to happen for him to look as bad as some of yall want us to view him as.” Some fans probably would have expected a different take from Budden. However, he has always maintained that he is a fan of Aubrey. Sure, he’s been critical of the Canadian artist, but who hasn’t? Only time will tell whether or not Joe’s hypothesis about Drake gets proven wrong.

Joe Budden & Taxstone Go Scorched Earth On Each Other During Intense Twitter Back-And-Forth

Joe Budden and Taxstone have been at odds with one another for quite some time. Overall, the two podcasters do not like each other and it mostly stems from Joe’s appearance on Taxstone’s show back in the day. However, these days, Taxstone is serving a lengthy jail sentence. Meanwhile, Joe continues to do his podcast, which has proven to be influential.

That said, the feud was reignited on Wednesday as Joe was accused of domestic violence by Tahiry Jose. This subsequently prompted Taxstone to get on Twitter, where he laced into the former rapper. “If Joe doesn’t hit women anymore, yall should forgive him. yall don’t live with him. A lot of you forgave your dads and the dude you are with now,” Taxstone wrote. “But in the meantime, if Joe beat you up, dm me, I’ll retweet your story. When Joe’s manipulative words don’t work he starts swinging like Canelo on opioids. 3 puffs a hookah and a ball rub on his dog and he turn into the n***a that made.a woman write what’s love got to do with it.”

Taxstone Gets Things Started

Eventually, Joe Budden came through with some clap backs. Overall, Budden mostly took aim at the fact that Taxstone is still in jail. Moreover, he was quick to point out that the former podcaster will be sitting there for a very long time. Needless to say, neither Joe nor Tax were playing fair in this fight. There was a lot of mud-slinging, and the back and forth continued for what felt like the length of an NBA game.

Joe Budden Claps Back

Eventually, Taxstone went in on Joe for the way he treats his podcast co-hosts. “All you do is manipulate all your friends they sitting on the couch with you like the script was written by Jordan Peele you hypnotizing n***s into believing that BS you be selling all day they know you wrong but can’t swim out the swamp cause they became reptiles with u,” Taxstone wrote. Joe continued to reply to Taxstone, although he kept the replies sarcastic. In the end, the exchange finished off with Tax writing “Smh why you wanna joke on me being in jail cause you beat all ya women up why you won’t tweet to all of them bro ?? They the ones that got hurt by you ??”

The Conversation Spirals

Let us know what you thought of this exchange, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that these two can eventually patch things up? The Game Explains Rick Ross Diss Amid Kendrick Lamar & Drake Beef: “Keep That Same Energy”

One of the oddest side quests to prop up in the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle was the feud between Rick Ross and The Game, which manifested through the latter’s “Freeway’s Revenge” diss track against the former. Moreover, while Rozay beefed with Drake outright, there wasn’t much pre-existing tension between these new opponents, and Game’s name hadn’t come up once from any side in that 20v1… or 1v20, depending on how you look at it. As such, the Los Angeles MC called into The Joe Budden Podcast to explain his goals with his song, and to remark on what’s happened since.

“A n***a sitting around just trolling, n***a, keep that same energy, n***a,” The Game told Joe Budden and company of Rick Ross on Thursday’s episode (May 16). “Bump heads with a n***a that really do this s**t. Bro, he did respond with a f***ing cereal bowl, n***a… We know you f*** ing eat. We see you. I don’t think it’s wise… and if he does, it’s done. The rap n***as ain’t saying what the people in the comments are saying. The rap n***as know what I do.

The Game Reveals Why He Dissed Rick Ross On The Joe Budden Podcast: Watch

“A rare iguana in a motherf***ing koi pond not gonna do it here,” The Game continued. “You gotta rap. All that luxury s**t not gonna do it here.” For those unaware, Rick Ross responded to the Drillmatic spitter with a a couple of troll videos, which was most of his ammunition against Drake in the first place. Furthermore, it seems like the Maybach Music Group mogul didn’t really want any lyrical smoke this time, or at least thought that it was unnecessary to respond. Considering how the Kendrick Lamar battle played out, perhaps this wasn’t such a bad decision. After all, flexers are flexers, wordsmiths are wordsmiths, and the world revolves much easier when they know their place.

Still, all bets are off as to how Rick Ross and The Game could continue their battle outside of wax, although neither seems interested in the other’s primary form of engagement. Maybe this is just the kind of thing that we forget about in a couple of weeks, especially as there is still a lot of conversation and traction around Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s tracks. Whether or not more skirmishes and callouts emerge this year is a mystery. But we definitely have our hands full at this point.
