Today (November 10), the official R&B nominee list was broadcast. With the sheer dominating force shown on the charts, many artists racked up multiple nominations. R&B’s golden child, SZA, is the star of today. The singer is the most nominated artist at the ceremony, with nine total nominations, including four nominations in R&B and one in rap. Janelle Monáe has given fans enough NSFW content to last until the end of the year. From their table-topping party clips to their videos for “Water Slide,” “Lipstick Lover,” and “Float,” they are truly living up to the title of their latest studio album. After a twerk-filled performance at the 2023 Essence Festival, Monáe took their talents on the road as part of The Age Of Pleasure Tour with special guests Jidenna, Flyana Boss, Dreamer Isioma, and Nana Kwabena.

To commemorate the end of the tour’s sold-out run, during Monáe’s final show on Wednesday, October 18, in Inglewood, California, they flashed the crowd one last time. In the clips captured by concertgoers, as Monáe sang their song “Yoga,” they whipped out their breasts as they sang, “Even when I’m sleeping, I got one eye open / You cannot police me, so get off my areola / Get off my areola.”

Janelle Monae began her Age of Pleasure Tour on a high note earlier this year, and earlier this week, the genre-bending creative closed it in the same fashion. On Wednesday (October 18), her final performance took place in Los Angeles at the YouTube Theatre in Inglewood. While crooning some of her biggest hits, Monae continued her trend of nonchalantly flashing the audience her breasts, this time showing off the left one in the middle of her set.

Most artists wouldn’t dare put themselves in such a vulnerable situation in front of a crowd of strangers (and their camera phones). The 37-year-old, however, isn’t ashamed of the skin she’s in, and even shared during her album rollout that she’s “much happier when [her] ti**ies are out.” As the crowd caught sight of Monae’s bare breast many of them cheered with excitement, hyping the entertainer up amid her final night on stage.

The Age of Pleasure Tour kicked off at the end of August in Seattle before Janelle headed to cities like Vancouver, Chicago, Boston, Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, and many more. Along the way, special guests Jidenna, Flyana Boss, Dreamer Isioma, and Nana Kwabena came out to help. Fans of the Kansas native are sad to see this leg of performances wrapped up but are eager to see what the next phase of Monae’s career will bring her.

Janelle Monae has long been praised for her artistry, but The Age of Pleasure found the “I Like That” songstress coming in her most confident form yet. Besides showing off the body that she works hard to maintain on more than one occasion, the vocalist also impressed us with her lyrics and singing throughout the project. On Wednesday, October 18th, Janelle Monae performed her highly-anticipated Los Angeles show at Youtube Theater. This served as the last date on her Age of Pleasure Tour, which meant ending it on a high note!

Being that this is the city of Angels, you know Janelle had to bring out special guests. First up was TDE’s own Doechii, who collaborated with Monae on the song “Phenomenal.” This was a true moment for two badass females in the music industry, that carry their own unique style, sound, and swag!

And for those who were present, they got to experience Monae’s beautiful breasts in real time. Well, just one of them. In the middle of the show, Monae surprised the crowd by flashing one of her breasts. Very nonchalant, as she continues performing as if nothing happened. There was a minute there, when Janelle Monáe began the promotional cycle for her album Lipstick Lover, when it seemed like every day, she was grabbing headlines for primarily NSFW or NSFW-adjacent reasons. She turned heads by dancing at a Met Gala after party and then turned even more with a wet t-shirt teaser video, and it continued from there. Monáe has been quieter on that front lately, but recently, the multi-hyphenate was spotted at Magic City, Atlanta’s famous strip club.

In a brief video clip, Monáe wears a relatively conservative dress as her own “Lipstick Lover” plays in the background. Standing on stage and holding onto a pole, Monáe busts out some simple dance moves that are good enough to get some dollar bills thrown in the air.

Monáe found herself in Atlanta as part of her tour in support of Lipstick Lover. She performed at the city’s Fox Theater on October 6, and Quavo even popped up to rap his part from Monáe’s recently released “Champagne Sh*t” remix,” which also features Latto.

Yesterday (October 9), Monáe shared a social media post reflecting on the show, writing, “I fail every time I try and describe this experience. Our safe oasis in every city. 6 more to go and I don’t want it to end. I love y’all so much and thank you for being on this journey with us.”

Janelle Monáe‘s world takeover continues. Tonight (October 6), the illustrious musician has shared a remix to a fan favorite from her fourth studio album, The Age Of Pleasure.

On a special ATL remix to “Champagne Sh*t,” Monáe joins forces with fellow Atlanta rap stars, Latto and Quavo. Throughout the course of the song, the three are in triumphant spirits, as they toast to their wins.

Monáe’s first verse and chorus remain the same as those on the original album version, with Quavo and Latto adding even more southern flair.

“We gon’ drink ’til we faint now it’s tasting like water / Proud of the times when we came from the bottom / Right now I’m hot, it’s time to go harder / How we keep winnin’, because I’m a starter,” raps Quavo on his triumphant verse.

Having been killing the rap game and maintaining a consistent flow of features and hits, Latto enjoys the fruits of her labor.

“College girl I’m tryna pay your tuition / Red bone kissing, casamigos pissin / Trying go home to the D like a piston,” she raps, reminding us that she’s got the game on lock.

Atlantic Records Announces 75th Anniversary Vinyl Reissues Of Albums From Cardi B, Led Zeppelin, And More

While 2023 represents the 50th year of hip-hop, it’s also the 75th anniversary of one of the labels that has had a huge hand in making hip-hop the global phenomenon it is today. Today, Atlantic Records announced its plans to celebrate making it three-quarters of a century (especially in an industry that has seen so much upheaval almost from day one), which include a year’s worth of vinyl reissues of classic and contemporary albums that have defined its first 75 years.

The campaign will kick off in October and include 90 albums from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Bad Company, Booker T & The MGs, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Christina Perri, Coldplay, Foreigner, Gucci Mane, Jack Harlow, Janelle Monáe, John Coltrane, Kehlani, Led Zeppelin, Lupe Fiasco, Matchbox Twenty, Otis Redding, Phil Collins, Ray Charles, Velvet Underground, Willie Nelson, and more. Some will be special pressings; others will be releases that have never been on vinyl before. There’s also exclusive, limited-edition merch, and partnerships with Vinyl Me, Please and Acoustic Sounds.

The collection will be curated by Atlantic Records chairman/CEO Craig Kallman, who’s been working on it for years. “It was stacks of paper making sure we didn’t miss anybody,” he said in a press release. “It was painstakingly done. There was a lot of internal debating… We tried to include records that were culturally significant, that were groundbreaking for the company, that were blowout sales successes. It was about records that defined the label and the culture of the company.”

Kallman had a personal investment in much of that history, joining Atlantic in 1991 after his dance label, Big Beat Records, was acquired by Atlantic. And although he said he thought it’d be cool to limit the run to 75 titles, he found he just couldn’t, resulting in the 90 planned releases (might as well up it to 100, Craig!). From the names of the albums included, it looks like a worthwhile endeavor and we can’t wait for the year ahead.
