Ja Rule Reacts To Being Left Off Billboard’s Top 50 Greatest Rappers List

Ja Rule

Billboard recently put out their list of the greatest 50 rappers of all time. Of course, the list stirred up controversy. The top 10 spots were occupied by legends such as 1. Jay-Z, 2. Kendrick Lamar, 3. Nas, 4. Tupac, 5. Eminem, 6. Biggie Smalls, 7. Lil Wayne, 8. Drake, 9. Snoop Dogg, and 10. Nicki Minaj. While this might seem like a safe list, people asked why Kanye and Andre 3000 were omitted from the top 10 spots. Even Ja Rule got in on the criticism, and wondered why he was left off of the top 50 list altogether.

Ja took his frustrations out on Twitter where he called out Billboard for the list.

“There ain’t 50 rappers dead, alive or waiting to be born better than me… #ICONN #Vibes,” Ja wrote. “@billboard congrats to everyone on the list well deserved but check my resume… #ICONN #Vibes.”

This isn’t the only artist to find some fault with Billboard’s rankings. Ice Cube recently bashed Billboard for the list despite he being #18.

“I don’t fuck with Billboard or the editor. Billboard ain’t hip-hop so their opinion don’t matter. So who gives a fuck, It’s an irrelevant list. It’s like assholes: everybody got one and they all stink.”

50 Cent Regrets Involving Fat Joe In Ja Rule Beef

We never know when 50 Cent and Ja Rule will reignite their longstanding tension. Often, the two New York rappers will throw verbal jabs on social media, and it’s a beef that goes all the way back to 1999. It was then that Ja was robbed at gunpoint, purportedly by one of Fif’s associates. Later, the rappers had a confrontation at a nightclub, and since then, they’ve been at each other’s throats.

However, it isn’t just Ja who was a target in this tension; 50 Cent would also go after anyone affiliated with the Murder Inc. icon. Fat Joe was connected to Ja Rule and even collaborated with him, so he found himself in Fif’s crosshairs. It’s a decision that 50 Cent now seems to regret, and explained to Rolling Stone why he wouldn’t have involved Joey Crack.

“There’s an element, a part of our culture that I’m aware of it because I am it,” said Fif. “Your Lil Durks, your NBA Youngboys, the whole surrounding cast of that … it almost splits our culture in half because when you cool with one, you can’t work with the other. There’s an energy that runs through it that if you cool with people I got a problem with, then you with them.”

50 Cent used himself as an example as he brought up Ja and Joe. “It was like my issues, I was using the same thinking in the very beginning of my career because it’s just the thinking you would use in the environment,” he said. “If anybody went next to Ja Rule, I’d jump on the person who featured with them, anybody who was faintly near them, ’cause I put him on life support and you wanna go resuscitate him. So that energy, later you look at it and you go, ‘I was buggin’.’”

“‘Cause I’ll say that. Fat Joe, his issues, I would see him a little uncomfortable with the success I was having,” 50 continued. “And I interpreted as, ‘He doesn’t like me,’ when he’s really the kind of guy you want to be friends with because he’s loyal to a default. He’s so loyal for one record that [Murder Inc] did with him [‘What’s Luv’] that we became enemies.”

Despite Fif once involving Fat Joe in his shenanigans, the two are now good friends who respect one another. Meanwhile, the beef with Ja Rule is alive and well.

Ja Rule Reacts After Billboard & Vibe Exclude Him From “Top 50 Rappers” List

Ja Rule, Ice Cube, and many others do not think Billboard and Vibe’s top 50 rappers list accurately reflects the culture. In honor of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, Billboard and Vibe teamed up to rank the best 50 rappers of all time. However, they revealed each tier in increments. First, they dropped the top 50-41, which included Rick Ross, Rev Run, Melle Mel, Jadakiss, Ice-T, and more. Each week, they followed up with their next 10 rankings until they reached 10-1, which saw Jay-Z at the top of the list.

The top 5 as rounded out by Kendrick Lamar (#2), Nas (#3), Tupac (#4), and Eminem (#5). That alone stirred up enough conversation for debate. However, the remainder of the top 10 appeared quite safe. The Notorious B.I.G., Lil Wayne, Drake, Snoop Dogg, and Nicki Minaj round out the top 10. Though you can argue all you want about Big ranking lower than Ja Rule’s eternal nemesis, Eminem, or Drake’s standing in the top 10, each artist listed had an everlasting impact on hip-hop that can’t be replicated.

Let’s See What Ja Rule’s Thoughts Are On The Top 50 List

Ja Rule was nowhere to be found on the list and it’s quite clear that he feels snubbed by the exclusion. The rapper took to social media this week where he determined that he’s the greatest rapper of all time among the dead, alive, and the unborn. He congratulated all those who made the list but made it clear Billboard snubbed him. “There ain’t 50 rappers dead, alive or waiting to be born better than me,” he tweeted on Thursday. “@billboard congrats to everyone on the list well deserved but check my resume…”

As you’d expect with any list, there was no possible way to determine a list of top 50 rappers without excluding a few. Unfortunately for Ja, this meant that his epic run in the late 90s and 2000s didn’t make the cut. Billboard and Vibe determined their list through creative output (i.e. bars and flows), commercial success (RIAA certifications and Billboard charting offerings), influence on the genre, and longevity. Ja basically checks off the majority of criteria but it seems like Billboard and Vibe felt there were artists who were more deserving of the recognition.

Akon Clowned For His Hair Piece

So many people online are clowning Akon for his hair in a recent picture with Fat Joe and Ja Rule in Dubai. Moreover, the aforementioned MCs posted a pic of them together on Instagram, although Akon hasn’t posted anything yet. While they couldn’t comment on his account, people took to other corners of social media to joke about the singer’s hairstyle.

Ja Rule captioned the pic with “Yesterdays Price… #ICONN #Vibes,” whereas Fat Joe wrote “DUBAI LEGENDS ONLY” and tagged his companions. Given that Akon recently criticized American performers, the link-up seems strange or, at the very least, random. Still, that’s not what people are saying about the post.

Moreover, one user tweeted: “Rule got a thin crust mustache, Akon’s toupee is bananas and Fat Joe’s beard looks spray painted. My legends are aging gracefully.”

Furthermore, Twitter is full of gems like these. So many people are comparing his hair to Lego pieces, glued hair, hats, beanies, and making a whole host of other jokes. While many cooked him up in quote retweets, some made remarks about his recent controversial statements.

“Seeing Akon’s hair makes all his dumb ass statements over the past few years make a lot more sense SMFH,” one user wrote. Moreover, he caught flack for suggesting that family events aren’t that important to attend when talking about Nick Cannon.

“Who gives a f**k about a recital?” Akon asked in an interview. “No, seriously. Listen, my job is to raise my kids, to be responsible, to be understanding, to protect their mother, to give a hand with their father, and to assist with family planning, and to be responsible adults.”

Furthermore, in the same conversation, he made the comments about Black American performers compared to African performers that caused outrage.

“[They’re] wobbling, pants hanging half down, bored as hell, half asleep ‘cause they high as hell on stage. But [in] Africa, we wake up in the morning. Look at these YouTube clips of all these kids from Uganda. Like these kids are performers. So for us, it comes natural.”

Still, what do you think of Akon’s crazy hair that has people in tears on Twitter right now? However you may feel, let us know in the comments and check out some more reactions down below. Also, as always, log back into HNHH for the latest viral moments and celebrity goofs.

50 Cent Reacts To DJ Playing ‘In Da Club’ At Ja Rule Concert

JaRuleSayshe'MusicallyInfluenced'CentFollowingFailedAttemptatVerzuzBattle

Over the weekend, Ja Rule was scheduled to perform at Power 106.9’s Jingle Jam at the Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. However, before he came out, the DJ tasked with hyping up the crowd before Ja Rule took the stage, started playing 50 Cent’s 2003 hit song “In Da Club.”

In the clip that leaked online, members of Ja Rule’s team are seen telling the DJ to cut the song. “Stop the show right here,” one person demanded. “Aye, cut that shit off!” another said.

After the video of the mishap surfaced, 50 Cent came out and commented on what happened, seemingly disappointed that he was not behind it. “LOL. Now this is some funny shit ! I wish i had something to do with it,” 50 tweeted.

Despite the two having beefed two decades ago, it seems as if the two artists still hold some resentment toward each other. In 2018, 50 Cent had apparently trolled Ja Rule when he reportedly bought out the first 2 rows to one of the “Between Me and You” artist’s concerts. In 2020, Ja Rule denied those reports.

“It’s cap, yo!” Ja Rule said. “He’s capping. King of cap, nigga. I tell niggas, I say, ‘Yo, I got 10 stacks right now for anybody that can find footage of this foolery that this nigga is talking about.’ Listen, we live in a world of fucking, everything is on video. Come on, man. Stop with the foolery, man!”

He added: “Even the thought of it is still stupid, because nigga, all you did if you did that, was put money in my pocket. And what you think the promoter is going to do? Have an empty venue? You let niggas in free or charge them again! It’s the dumbest shit ever, yo. But yeah, it’s cap. Never happened.”

Ja Rule Was Trolled By A 50 Cent Song At His Own Concert, Proving Some Beef Never Dies

A clip from Ja Rule’s Power 106.9’s Jingle Jam concert with Ashanti at Baxter Arena is now hilariously going viral again. Initially uploaded to TikTok on December 11, the moment captures what the rapper’s team does when you play 50 Cent’s hit, “In Da Club.”

“Stop this song,” one of the crew members says into the microphone. “Aye, cut this sh*t off,” another guy added, getting increasingly angry.

The several crew members wander around the stage confused as they try to stop the song, even talking to the on-stage DJ, but it continues playing. Despite Ja Rule’s crew clearly disliking the 50 Cent drop, some of the crowd did — as they can be seen singing along.

The video eventually made its way to 50 Cent himself, as the rapper shared the video on his Instagram.

“LOL, now this is some funny sh*t,” he captioned, complete with laughing and clapping emojis. “I wish I had something to do with it.”

Following 50 Cent’s post, fans on social media are having a field day reacting to the clip.

“Ja Rule out there 20 years later and still getting done in by 50 Cent,” one user tweeted.

The two rappers’ beef was first documented in 1999 after Ja Rule was reportedly robbed by one of 50 Cent’s associates, and the latter responded with a diss track. Over two decades later, the bad blood hasn’t settled down.

50 Cent Responds To Viral Clip Of “In Da Club” Playing At Ja Rule’s Concert

Ja Rule and 50 Cent will never see eye-to-eye but most would agree that the latter came out the victor in their back-and-forth. However, it seems like Ja Rule will never live down his loss in his battle against Fif.

Case in point — Ja Rule’s performance at in Omaha, Nebraska in December. Power 106.9’s Jingle Jam booked Ja Rule to perform at the Baxter Arena. However, he was quickly reminded of his feud with the “21 Questions” rapper before he was even able to hit the stage.

Footage circulated over the past few days of the DJ playing 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” at the venue. It’s unclear at what point in the show this was but it clearly didn’t sit well with Ja’s team. Shortly after, a member of the rapper’s crew tried to shut things down. “Stop the show right here,” one person said. Another person says afterward, “Aye, cut that shit off!”

Though the footage is a month old, there hasn’t been any statement from Ja Rule about the matter. Chances are, he won’t be speaking about it any time soon. Or perhaps, he wasn’t even aware of what was going on at the time.

50 Cent, on the other hand, didn’t waste any time chiming in. He shared the footage on his Instagram page, revealing that he wished he was responsible for the mishap on stage.

“LOL Now this is some funny shit ! I wish i had something to do with it,” he captioned the post.

The feud between the two parties goes as far back as 1999. Though things died down for a while in the early 2010s, 50 Cent didn’t hold back on dissing Ja Rule whenever the opportunity came up.

We’ll keep you posted if Ja Rule ever ends up responding to 50 Cent.
