Travis Scott Unveils His 2021 Astroworld Festival Lineup, Featuring Tame Impala, Young Thug, And More

Travis Scott has done really well his with Astroworld Festival over the past few years, as it routinely has some of the most appealing lineups on the fest circuit. Fans have come to expect that, so much so that the event sold out in May, well before the lineup was even announced. Speaking of that, Scott shared the lineup for the 2021 event today, which is returning on November 5 and 6 at Houston’s NRG Park.

The full lineup, in alphabetical order, consists of 21 Savage; Baby Keem; Bad Bunny; BIA; Chief Keef; Don Toliver; Earth, Wind & Fire; Houston All-Stars; Lil Baby; Master P; Roddy Ricch; Sheck Wes; Sofaygo; SZA; Teezo Touchdown; Toro Y Moi; Travis Scott; Tame Impala; Young Thug; and Yves Tumor.

Furthermore, a limited number of additional tickets went on sale today, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they were sold out by the time you read this.

This fest seems like a prime opportunity for Scott and Tame Impala to perform their Astroworld collaboration “Skeletons” together; Tame Impala recently performed it without Scott last month. Scott has certainly been in a collaborative mood as of late: He recently appeared on the new Young Thug album Punk and linked up with Don Toliver for a “Flocky Flocky” video.

Rico Nasty, Danny Brown, and Tank and The Bangas Highlight The Comeback Of The WILD Red Bull SoundClash

For the first time in ten years, Red Bull is returning to the US with their highly unusual, unpredictable and downright intriguing SoundClash concert battle. Think of it as Verzuz, meets a good old fashioned battle of the bands, meets the unforgettable Drake vs Lil Wayne tour of 2014. The 2021 event is taking place in Atlanta, Houston, Nashville and Chicago, and before we go any further, it’s important to understand the fairly insane rules of this function according to the SoundClash site:

The rules of the game are simple: to clash in the name of creating a one-of-a-kind party and score ultimate bragging rights. Over the course of four rounds, each band or artist will play covers, reimagine one of their competitor’s tracks, perform three of their own songs in a comfort-zone stretching new style (Folk? A capella? Electro pop? Why not?), and then finally pull out all the stops in a wildcard finale. (Improvisation? Special guests? On-stage antics? Almost anything is fair game.) At the end of the night, the audience will vote will determine a winner—but not one goes home without having a good time.

Make sense? Two artists on two stages and one winner in each of four cities as determined by the crowd. Here’s the breakdown of who battles who and where:

SoundClash Atlanta goes down on November 30th at The Eastern between Love Renaissance signees Shelley (fka DRAM) and Westside Boogie.

SoundClash Nashville pits “Queens of Gulf Coast Soul” at the Bayou Music Center on December 2nd, with a battle between Tank and the Bangas versus The Suffers.

SoundClash Houston is at Marathon Music Works on December 9th with a showdown between Bren Joy and a TBD opponent.

SoundClash Chicago might be the wildest of the all, with DC’s Rico Nasty facing off against Detroit lifer Danny Brown on December 16th at Radius.

Tickets and more info on each city’s event are available here.

Jamila Woods and Peter CottonTale’s Video for ‘WYD (You Got Me)’ Is Sweet As Pie

Jamila Woods and Peter CottonTale are two of Chicago hip-hop’s most illustrious minds. Woods is a noted singer, poet, and activist whose 2019 album LEGACY! LEGACY! paid tribute to Black luminaries and rightfully cracked the top 25 of our Uproxx Music Critic’s Poll that year. CottonTale came up as a core producer for the breakthrough material of Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, and Woods, and has recently claimed credits with the likes of DJ Khaled and Justin Bieber.

Now the the pair have joined forces for the latest single “WYD (You Got Me)” and it manages to preserve the feeling of summer sunshine as winter starts to creep in. There’s a childlike melody to the tune, reminiscent of the innocence of summer cookouts and spending time with friends and family. There’s autotune vocals sprinkled throughout from both, but Woods’ voice is as sweet as peach pie. The hook is definitely something we’ll be repeating as she sings: “Good evenin’, I called you. I hope you will see that. So hit me as soon as you see this. I’ll be there in times when you need me… to be there, someone you can lean on. When I see ya. If it’s something you needed, believe me. If got it. If you got it. You got me.”

The song is part of the new film Summertime. Directed by Blindspotting‘s Carlos López Estrada, it weaves the tale of 27 different youth spoken poets throughout the streets of Los Angeles.

Machine Gun Kelly Says Megan Fox’s Bucket List Includes Being ‘Abducted By A UFO’

Whether it’s packing on the PDA on the red carpet or carrying around a vile of the other’s blood, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s relationship always manages to make its way into headlines. As the new celebrity “it” couple, the two were tapped by GQ to test their relationship in the publication’s popular series, GQ Couple’s Quiz.

The quiz is designed to see how well each person knows their partner. They’re asked a series of questions that gauges how well they listen to each other, like asking what their favorite TV show is or how many tattoos they have. During the segment, Kelly reveals a bizarre tidbit: Fox really hopes she’ll be abducted by an alien one day.

Fox poses the question, “What’s something on my bucket list?” Kelly immediately responds: “To be abducted by a UFO.” Fox simply nods her head and gives Kelly two points for answering the question correctly, but either celebrity explains this wish any further. However, later in the segment, the two reminiscence on a vacation they took in Bora Bora, saying they took psychedelic mushrooms and were convinced they spotted a UFO in the sky.

Of course, Kelly and Fox are far from the only celebrities who are into UFOs. Earlier this week, Demi Lovato discussed her upcoming Peacock show Unidentified With Demi Lovato, which sees her investigating UFOs and extraterrestrial life. In an interview about the new series, Lovato stated that she believes the term “alien” is a “derogatory” term for extraterrestrial life. “I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because ‘aliens’ is a derogatory term for anything,” she said. “That’s why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that’s a little tidbit. A little information that I learned.”

Dijon’s Fiery New Live Performance Video Sets The Stage For His Album Of Visceral R&B, ‘Absolutely’

After a run of excellent EPs in each of the last two years, Dijon’s proper debut album has finally been announced. Absolutely was written, recorded and produced in a short few weeks at a house in upstate New York, where Dijon and a tight-knit group of collaborators locked down and created the album.

Dijon also released a live performance video today that’s a flat out magical and intimate window into the aforementioned recording process of the album. Entitled simply “playing the first song from my album,” the clip opens with a scruffy looking Dijon on a sampler and small mixing board and guitarist Mk.gee in an antique style living room. The music starts to hum, the guitar builds the vibe and Dijon wastes no time getting into his extremely evocative delivery. As the video builds and the camera slowly starts to show more of the room, we’re introduced to the other collaborators, each adding another powerful element to the song, including a particularly dashing slide guitar. Dijon dances through the room in almost manic fashion and it renders the music more gripping with each of his twists and turns. This is a fantastically sweaty tune and it’s clear that there’s more magic that emanated from these sessions, awaiting us on the album.

Check out the video above.

Absolutely is out 11/5 via R&R/Warner.

Lil Baby, 21 Savage, And Others Are Performing On The Virtual 2021 Adult Swim Festival

The Adult Swim Festival went virtual in 2020, and the event is returning in the same way this year: It was announced today that the fest is set to go down on YouTube and HBO Max on November 12 and 13, and a bulk of a lineup was also revealed.

It’s a multi-faceted event, but on the music side of things are previously unseen performances from Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Flying Lotus, Angel Olsen, Alessia Cara, Karol G, Kelly Lee Owens, The Armed, and Sheer Mag, with more artists set to be announced ahead of the show.

Meanwhile, there will also be livestreams and panels from Adult Swim favorites like Rick And Morty, Squidbillies, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Beyond that, episodes of shows like Rick And Morty, The Eric Andre Show, Robot Chicken, Joe Pera Talks With You, Metalocalpyse, and others will be broadcast, accompanied by live chats featuring surprise guests.

Adult Swim has long had its own specific presence carved out in the music world: For years now, the network has teamed up with (mostly alternative) artists to share new music, and they’re staying strong on that front. Just last month, for example, Soccer Mommy and Kero Kero Bonito shared a collaboration, “Rom Com 2021,” as part of the Adult Swim Singles series.

Machine Gun Kelly Leaves Nothing To The Imagination While Describing His First Kiss With Megan Fox

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly officially went public with their relationship in 2020 and have been making headlines for turning heads with their PDA ever since. While Fox has made it clear their relationship is intensely passionate, comparing it to a tsunami and a forest fire, the two also detailed some of the more tender moments in their love life in a recent interview — like their first kiss.

The couple sat down with British GQ for a joint cover interview about being “Hollywood’s hottest new power couple.” During the conversation, the two detailed the beginning of their relationship. After meeting on the set of Midnight In The Switchgrass, Fox and Kelly would text all the time. Eventually, their text conversations turned into three-hour phone calls. “Did you ever talk to a girl for three hours on the phone in your whole life?” Fox teased Kelly in the interview. “Were you like, ‘How the f*ck am I going to talk to her?’”

Kelly responded to Fox’s quip by recalling their first kiss. “It felt like five minutes, so it didn’t even feel like three hours,” he said. “Even our first kiss, she wouldn’t kiss me. We just put our lips right in front of each other and breathed each other’s breath and then she just left.”

Fox added that her reason for resisting the kiss came from her wanting to protect her heart, even though she knew she was already falling hard. “[I was] definitely open [to] love, but I did not anticipate walking right into my soulmate like that,” she said. “I was obviously over the way I had been living, and those paths lined up, those doors opened. It was [as if] all the obstacles that had kept us apart all those years [had been removed] and we were able to finally intersect.”

The couple also described their first date, which sounds like a scene from a teenage coming-of-age film. Kelly picked up Fox in a convertible Cadillac and they listened to Ella Fitzgerald as they drove to a canyon’s edge. A friend was waiting with a picnic in hand and a blanket with a “sea of roses.” The date ended with them going on a rooftop, listening to pop-punk, and making out.
