“… My stage name is ‘Eshu Tune.’ I came up with the stage name a couple months ago,” said Hannibal on The WGCI Morning Show on 107.5 WGCI. “Eshu is from Nigerian mythology — he’s a Trickster God. So being able to compartmentalize it — I don’t wear red in my regular life. As Eshu, that’s the red, and that brings the energy. So I’m still learning how to perform, and how to do it…”

The new EP sees the comedian transition into music with an eight-song collection that showcases a different repertoire from the entertainer. The project’s subject matter showcases Eshu’s competitive nature on “1-3 Pocket,” a dollar and a dream chaser-tunred-landlord on “Donde Esta,” newfound love as a first-time father on “Kept About 3,” and a Chicago homecoming ready to spaz on “Back In The City.” For debut, Eshu Tune collaborators include talented musicians Haile Supreme, Eryn Allen Kane and Kiefer.

Announced on Monday, following Wiscansin Fest, Eshu Tune will perform at this year’s Adult Swim Festival Block Party in Philadelphia on August 5.

Adult Swim Festival Returns With A Block Party In Philly Featuring Run The Jewels And Tierra Whack

Just as Adult Swim’s one-of-a-kind music/animation festival, Adult Swim Festival, was gaining momentum, it was curtailed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival, which launched in 2018 and expanded in 2019, was shifted to an online-only event in 2021 but is soon to return in 2022. This time, it’ll not only change venues but also cities, crossing over to the east coast for the Adult Swim Festival Block Party in Philadelphia on August 5-7.

In addition to changing coasts, the format will be a little different as well, taking over multiple venues such as Brooklyn Bowl, The Fillmore, The Foundry, and Punch Line with music, “live panels, exclusive premieres, watch parties, games, giveaways, and merch.” Because it’s Adult Swim and because it’s in Philadelphia, the top line includes Run The Jewels (which formed largely thanks to the input of Adult Swim Senior Vice President Jason DeMarco) and hometown hero Tierra Whack (who previously played the festival in 2019).

Other musical acts booked to play the Block Party include Bia, Flo Milli, and RJD2, while standup comics like Hannibal Buress, Jak Knight, and Jo Firestone are set to perform as well. There will also be live panels for Adult Swim shows Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Rick & Morty, and Smiling Friends, and you can be sure there’ll be some fun screening events as well. Hopefully, they’ll bring back the bucking hot dog ride too, as it was one of the highlights from the 2019 event.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 20 at 10 AM ET. Naturally, you can find more information at adultswimfestival.com.

The Adult Swim Festival comes to the East Coast for the first time as a three-day block party in Philadelphia’s famed Fishtown area. The series of events will take place from Friday, August 5, through Sunday, August 7, 2022, and will feature performances by Run The Jewels, Dethklok, and Philadelphia resident Tierra Whack. In celebration of all things Adult Swim, fans will enjoy a dynamic program of music, humor, live panels, outdoor screenings, and exclusive products. Advance tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Thursday, May 19.

“After several successful years in LA and online, we’re excited to bring the Adult Swim Festival to the East Coast,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim. “Fishtown is the perfect setting for what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of the city, Adult Swim and top talent who are at the forefront of the music and comedy worlds.”

The Adult Swim Festival Block Party, presented by Live Nation, will feature a curated series of individually ticketed events at four iconic Fishtown venues, including The Fillmore Philadelphia, The Foundry, Punch Line Philadelphia, and The Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia, all set within an ongoing neighborhood block party with beer gardens, food trucks, and fun fan attractions.

At must-see panels and series watch parties, fans will get first looks and breaking news about some of Adult Swim’s most popular shows. Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, together with their Aqua Teen Hunger Force co-stars Carey Means (Frylock) and Dana Snyder (Master Shake), will take the stage to present all the facts and a first peek at the sequel to the fan-favorite series. Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel, makers of Smiling Friends, will bring joy to Philadelphia and premiere a video from an upcoming special. Fans of Rick and Morty can also look forward to a first peek at the highly anticipated sixth season of the comedy, which will premiere exclusively at the festival.

Additional performers include Flo Milli, DJ Diamond Cuts, Bia, and Trackstar the DJ.

Lil Baby, 21 Savage, And Others Are Performing On The Virtual 2021 Adult Swim Festival

The Adult Swim Festival went virtual in 2020, and the event is returning in the same way this year: It was announced today that the fest is set to go down on YouTube and HBO Max on November 12 and 13, and a bulk of a lineup was also revealed.

It’s a multi-faceted event, but on the music side of things are previously unseen performances from Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Flying Lotus, Angel Olsen, Alessia Cara, Karol G, Kelly Lee Owens, The Armed, and Sheer Mag, with more artists set to be announced ahead of the show.

Meanwhile, there will also be livestreams and panels from Adult Swim favorites like Rick And Morty, Squidbillies, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Beyond that, episodes of shows like Rick And Morty, The Eric Andre Show, Robot Chicken, Joe Pera Talks With You, Metalocalpyse, and others will be broadcast, accompanied by live chats featuring surprise guests.

Adult Swim has long had its own specific presence carved out in the music world: For years now, the network has teamed up with (mostly alternative) artists to share new music, and they’re staying strong on that front. Just last month, for example, Soccer Mommy and Kero Kero Bonito shared a collaboration, “Rom Com 2021,” as part of the Adult Swim Singles series.
