The reason behind 21 Savage’s previous restrictions from international travel stemmed from his immigration status. Born She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, the Atlanta-based rapper had faced challenges due to his immigration status. However, recent developments have brought good news for the artist and his fans.

  • Permanent U.S. Residency: Savage’s immigration attorney, Charles Kuck, confirmed that the rapper has become a permanent U.S. resident. This status change means that he can now perform internationally without any hindrance.
  • Statement from the Attorney: Charles Kuck stated that She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph had adhered to all immigration laws since his initial detention by ICE. With the termination of his immigration court proceedings, he is now a lawful permanent resident of the United States, granting him the freedom to travel internationally.
  • Return to the United Kingdom: On October 6th, the rapper shared a video on his Instagram, hinting at his return to the United Kingdom, his birthplace. The video, titled “London I’m Coming Home,” showcased snippets of his childhood memories in London. This return is significant as it marks his first performance in London.

21 Savage Embarking On International Tour After Immigration Struggles: Report

It looks like there might be more to Drake’s bar about 21 Savage on “8AM On Charlotte” than we thought. Moreover, he confirmed that his It’s All A Blur tour companion got his green card, and is now able to travel following a long bout with ICE concerning immigration issues. “Savage got a green card straight out of the consulate. Where I go, you go, brother, we Yugoslavian,” the 6 God rapped on the cut. However, a source allegedly told Billboard that there might be more to this development. Apparently, the Slaughter Gang rapper is planning an international tour following this freedom, the outlet reported.

For those unaware, 21 Savage was born in the United Kingdom and legally moved to the U.S. when he was seven years old. ICE officials detained and arrested him in February of 2019 due to claims of an expired visa, claiming that he was “unlawfully present.” While the Atlanta MC eventually got out, this issue meant that he couldn’t travel overseas. This cut into It’s All A Blur (J. Cole and Travis Scott filled in for him for their Canada dates in Vancouver and Montreal), but it looks like he’ll be able to wrap things up with Drake for their final tour stops in Canada, specifically the OVO mogul’s home city of Toronto.

“I called [Meek Mill] while I was in jail and told Meek, ‘Bro, I just got locked up,’” 21 Savage told the My Expert Opinion podcast with Math Hoffa during an interview last year. “He called Jay-Z, and Jay-Z put a lawyer on my case, he played a role in getting me out. He ain’t just doing that s**t for anybody just because you rap. You gotta be from a certain cloth. I don’t feel like he’s just doing that for anybody. I ain’t Roc Nation or none of that s**t.”

Meanwhile, a criminal case concerning alleged firearm and drug possession during the 2019 arrest had delayed significant legal progress when it came to this immigration dispute. Now, though, amid rumors of a new album coming soon, it looks like the 30-year-old will be able to move freely. Again, these rumors of a tour are purely speculative and based on unknown sources, but it’s nonetheless exciting to consider. For more news and updates on 21 Savage, stay logged into HNHH.

Drake Confirms 21 Savage Got Green Card, Ending Immigration Case

Drake just released a surprise single on Instagram, “8AM In Charlotte,” and the timestamp song unsurprisingly contained some standout bars for fans that caused a lot of conversation. Of course, the most obvious example of these is people fishing for Kanye West disses on this track, which appear subliminally but in a way that’s hard to ignore. Still, other fans instead focused on a huge development in these lyrics. Moreover, he confirmed that 21 Savage got a green card, seemingly bringing an end to his years-long struggles with immigration agencies in the United States. “Savage got a green card straight out of the consulate,” Drizzy rapped. “Where I go, you go, brother, we Yugoslavian.”

For those unaware, the Atlanta trap star was actually born in the United Kingdom, and was detained by ICE in 2019 for issues stemming from a years-long expired visa, plus alleged discovery of firearms and codeine whose criminal nature delayed the immigration case amid the pandemic. It’s a tangled and complicated web, and one that quite unjustly targeted someone who lived his whole life in the States and began to make an impactful career and raise a family there. Regardless, it’s heartening to hear that 21 Savage seemingly put these issues behind him, even if we heard it from Drake and not from him own mouth. It means that he will finally be able to move as he pleases, not just travel-wise, but for all his career ambitions and personal needs.

Drake’s “8AM In Charlotte” Music Video

Furthermore, this was also something that heavily affected their joint tour, It’s All A Blur, this year. For example, Travis Scott and J. Cole replaced 21 Savage for the Canada dates of their tour, since he couldn’t go past U.S. borders. Still, Drake and 21 managed to give fans amazing performances and chemistry despite these roadblocks, and it’s clear this didn’t hamper their determination to make it something special. In fact, it convinced them that they had to work that much harder. It’s also interesting because the duo has two shows in Canada this weekend, so maybe 21 will pop out for the release celebration of Aubrey Graham’s album For All The Dogs.

Meanwhile, apparently TMZ confirmed with the Dekalb Co. Clerk, who managed the immigration case, that they closed it. It will be interesting to see what the “Glock In My Lap” MC will be able to do now with these restrictions vanishing. We’re sure that there’s still some leftover logistical hoops to jump through, and that this struggle doesn’t end so simply. But it looks like he’s on the right path, and it’s a freedom he’s deserved for a long time. For more news and updates on Drake and 21 Savage, stick around on HNHH.

French Montana Announces Help For Undocumented Immigrants

French Montana knows the harsh realities of growing up as an immigrant. Born Karim Kharbouch, he grew up in Morocco in the late 1980s, idolizing soccer and rap music. Then, out of nowhere, he found himself in the South Bronx. His family moved to the United States when Monanta was 13. However, he would not find his breakout until the mid-2000s, with “Choppa Choppa Down” and Excuse My French. His journey from undocumented immigrant to worldwide star is one of hardship and grit.

Today, Montana is one of the best-known rappers and the highest-streamed African-born artist of all time. He is also a two-time platinum recording artist. However, he is also best known for his encounters with law enforcement and criminal involvements. His rise, fall, and rise again has recently been turned into a documentary produced by Diddy and Drake. Furthermore, For Khadija premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 16 thanks to a special screening from Robert De Niro. Now he’s using his journey to help others.

French Montana Teams Up With InformedImmigrant

Montana’s announcement came in a video. “When I was 13, my family immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. Like millions of others that dreamt of opportunities, freedom and a chance to make our mark. But I remember being 17 and finding out I was undocumented. My family now had to learn to navigate the immigration system on our own. And this happened when I had the dream of going to college and playing ball. I didn’t have a social security number. I didn’t qualify to get a scholarship. Jump forward to now, and I know that I’m lucky for how my story turned out. I made it. Alhamdulillah,” the rapper says in a voiceover.

Furthermore, the video goes on to explain that InformedImmigrant provides “legal services, mental health,” and “help find partnering organizations for undocumented immigrants.” It’s unclear what Montana’s involvement with the organization will be. However, it’s inspiring to see the rapper offer a hand to those in the same situation as he once was. Follow all the latest music news here at HotNewHipHop.
