Talib Kweli Claims American Air Threatened To Have Him Arrested

There was a tense moment on a recent flight after Talib Kweli got into a disagreement with the staff. The Black Star icon shared the ordeal on social media, posting several videos of the escalation. Things seemed to have ignited after Kweli was told that his carry-on item didn’t fit underneath his seat. In one video, viewers can hear the rapper explaining why the bag fits securely.

The situation developed into an uncomfortable exchange after Kweli says American Air threatened to have him arrested. “After clearing my bag with the gate agent, flight attendant Sky Seaglass tells me my bag is too big and I must check it,” Kweli wrote on Instagram.

“I asked why, so he got annoyed and called his supervisor. The supervisor tells me it’s her decision whether I fly or not. That’s an important detail.”

“The supervisor sees that the attendant Seaglass was wrong about my bag and walks me to my seat and says l’m good to fly,” Kweli further shared. “Moments later the supervisor comes back and tells me that if I do not obey the flight attendant while in the air, I will go to jail. The whole time, Seaglass, who I’m not talking to at all, is telling people he feels ‘unsafe.’”

Then, the rapper says the supervisor returned to tell him he “must leave the plane.” He said he felt “that’s a violation of my human rights” before she told him to stop recording.

“Even though earlier she said I could record,” he said.

All passengers were then instructed to leave the plane as Kweli sat by.

“They then send 3 police officers in. Police expressed surprise that @americanair crew threatened me with arrest and said only the police can make that call. Cops then say ‘we got called out for nothing’ and ‘you didn’t do anything wrong.’ It’s right there on video.”

American Air has yet to address the controversy.

Beyoncé Was Seemingly Overheard At The Sound Check For Her Upcoming Dubai Concert

It doesn’t take much for Beyoncé to dominate headlines, but her powerful influence truly outdid itself today, January 18. First, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith dragged Beyoncé’s name into his take on Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII halftime show scheduled for February 12. The First Take host told Sherri Shepherd that Rihanna “ain’t Beyoncé” and then apologized hours later.

Beyoncé does have something in common with Rihanna right now, though: They’re each preparing for a massive show.

According to TMZ, Beyoncé is preparing to perform an invite-only concert at the Atlantis The Royal resort in Dubai this weekend for a reported $24 million. Fan accounts are circulating clips of her sound check:

Per TMZ, Beyoncé’s Dubai set “is said to be the launching pad for her upcoming Renaissance Tour.”

Renaissance, her first original solo album since 2016’s Lemonade, arrived last July. As a result, Beyoncé leads all nominees at next month’s 2023 Grammys. Anticipation for a possible Renaissance Tour was sparked at WACO Theater’s Wearable Art Gala in October:

Though a tour hasn’t been officially announced, The Sun reported last month that Beyoncé is planning to ban alcohol and drug use for the duration of the tour.

“Bey knows the new performances will require intense choreography and precision, so everyone has to be clean and sober,” an unnamed source told the UK tabloid. “There won’t be any crazy partying on the road either.”

The source added, “She is also carrying out #MeToo checks with the dancers, band and crew with hopes doing so will make the tour a safe and friendly work environment. As touring can be mentally grueling, her new team will also have access to mental health support while on the road.”

Take that all for what you will.

Slimeroni was told about the video, and she reshared it with a revelation. She said that when the woman touched her during her show, it was triggering as a survivor of sexual assault.

Laster, the rapper’s attorney, Dawn Florio, questioned if the search was legal. The Post reported that the Cadillac Escalade was idling in a no-standing zone, prompting the police to investigate.

“Cops found two loaded .380-caliber pistols and two loaded 9mm handguns inside the vehicle,” the outlet stated. Additionally, it was noted that no one in the vehicle “had a valid license for the guns.”

Tjay was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. This is classified as a felony. He is slated to bond out of Rikers Island today (January 18) after posting $90,000 bail.

“He didn’t get out because the judge wouldn’t [take time] to sign or look at the bond,” said Florio. “It was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”

There was a gun that was allegedly found behind the driver’s seat in the back,” Florio said. She further argued that one firearm was “found on the licensed security guard. And two guns in a lock box. They started searching the car and they found the guns.”

“But the security guard, who is a retired federal officer,” she continued. “They didn’t care.”

Meanwhile, at the same time of Tjay’s arrest, Ice Spice was also in the Bronx facing off with police. She was reportedly in a vehicle with a man when they were stopped by officers. The man was arrested and also charged with criminal possession of a firearm.
