Vanessa Bryant Expresses Joy After Daughter Natalia Gets Into University

Things have been incredibly difficult for the Bryant family over the past year. With the loss of Kobe and Gianna, Vaness Bryant has been holding strong and has done everything to support her three daughters. Her oldest daughter Natalia is 18 years old and over the past few months, she has been hard at work looking for universities. The eldest Bryant daughter has numerous schools in mind and recently, Vanessa revealed that Natalia got into one of her very first choices.

That choice just so happens to be Loyola Marymount University which is fairly close to Los Angeles. Regardless, Vanessa joked about the distance in her IG story, saying “So glad you got accepted but too far… j/k.” It just so happens that Natalia also got into the University of Oregon. She also applied to USC but has yet to get a response. For now, however, Natalia has yet to make a decision on where she will go.

Bryant had contemplated going to NYU as it was one of her first choices but considering the distance, she opted to not go through with the application. This saga was documented by Vanessa Bryant back in January where she wrote “So cute. 💜 NYU is one of her top schools.(@nataliabryant chose not to apply ED to her top 5 schools). I will do my best to keep her in Cali just like I kept her daddy here.”

No matter what, we’re sure Kobe would be very proud, and it’s awesome to see Natalia thriving despite everything that has happened. We wish her nothing but the best of luck moving forward.

Rockie Fresh & Vic Mensa Do The Dash On Aggressive New Track “Racer”

Having released a collab album with Casey Veggies as well as a full-length solo project, Rockie Fresh stayed busy all throughout 2020, but he isn’t letting his foot off the gas quite yet. His new single “Racer” arrives nearly a month following his “Gucci” single with Tobi Lou and Jeff Kalle, and this time, the former MMG rapper is linking up with Roc Nation’s outspoken artist Vic Mensa.

On “Racer,” the rapper’s verses are separated by a repetitive refrain built upon the line “I push the coupe like a racer,” but each of their individual performances proves that Rockie Fresh‘s latest single is not simply a watered-down single about driving fast sports cars. Rockie’s reserved verse is inspired by the dangers that come with his career, from women looking to date rappers solely for their riches to people making attempts on rappers’ lives. In contrast, Vic Mensa‘s verse turns the aggression up a few notches, as he taunts detracts and full-on welcomes beef with an unknown adversary.

Check out the collaboration between Rockie Fresh and Vic Mensa below.

Kid Ink Turns On The “Red Light”

Kid Ink should not be slept on under any circumstances, and the rapper has officially come through with a new single reminding his fans of exactly that. “Red Light,” which arrives complete with some badass and appropriately red-tinted visuals, finds Kid Ink once again making the process look easy.

As the early stages of the beat build, Kid Ink warms up with a melodic flow and a rapper’s charisma, making sure to bring some substance to his bars while reflecting on his journey. “I been getting mine, read the story untold,” he spits. “Can’t be mad what you can’t control / n***as gon’ switch shit up with this quickness, this here risky business / don’t get twisted, that bitch vicious.” As the track progresses, Ink introduces a few new flows, catching a particularly bouncy pocket as the second verse hits. And with the rapper’s upcoming Alive album on the way, it’s safe to say that “Red Light” is only scratching the surface.

Tom Brady Signs New Contract Extension With The Buccaneers

Tom Brady is fresh off of yet another Super Bowl win and at 43 years old, the quarterback doesn’t seem to be in any position to slow down. There have been numerous instances where Brady said that he wanted to play football until the age of 45, and now, that looks like it could become a reality. Of course, this notion comes after the news that came out today, claiming that Brady just got a brand new contract extension.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Brady signed a four-year contract extension that voids into a one-year extension. Effectively, Brady can opt into the four years, or he can simply take the one year which will end in 2022. This was done as a way for the Buccaneers to gain some cap space for the next few seasons.

There are plenty of big-name players the Buccaneers want to bring back including Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski. Both of these players scored touchdowns in the Super Bowl, and it only makes sense that the Bucs would move heaven and earth just to get these guys back on the roster.

At this point, it’s clear that Brady continues to win. Playing until 45 appears to be a certainty and when you think about it, 50 doesn’t seem like that much of a stretch anymore.

Flatbush Zombies Release A Cool Set Of Action Figures Commemorating Their Debut Album

It’s usually pretty cool when a rap act gets a collectible that isn’t just the standard T-shirt, vinyl, or non-fungible token version of their sex tape. For instance, there are a lot of nice vinyl toys out there for legends of rap like The Notorious BIG or Run-DMC, and some newer rappers have even gotten in on the action, like Rico Nasty. The latest act to commemorate a musical moment with a piece of beautifully-molded plastic is Flatbush Zombies, who teamed up with Incendium to offer a pack of frankly awesome action figures celebrating the fifth anniversary of their debut album.

The set interprets the trio as five-inch figures with 10 points of articulation and personalized accessories based on the David Nakayama-designed cover of 3001: A Laced Odyssey. Only 3,001 of each figure has been made, ensuring their collector’s item status someday down the road — without a password or undue negative impact on the environment, no less. Yes, that was another shot at NFTs because I think you’re all nuts for spending millions of dollars on computer code.

Incendium CEO Llexi Leon credits the project to Flatbush Zombies’ “incredible aesthetic,” and calls it “a blast to revisit David Nakayama’s incredible artwork to their debut album and bring the trio straight off the page for our latest release.”

FBI Arrests Scarfo Da Plug Murder Suspects In Los Angeles: Report

Last month, it was sadly reported that rising New Orleans rapper Scarfo Da Plug, who was known for his projects Trap Jesus and TRAP-NOLA, had passed away. At the time, details surrounding his death were scarce, but his close collaborator 24Hrs revealed in an Instagram post that Scarfo had been murdered, saying, “I’m really hurt bro , you just had a baby man , you was trying really make it in this shit .. for you and yours … another black man murdered who was just trying make it out.”

Time has passed without any substantial updates surrounding Scarfo Da Plug’s murder, but now, VladTV reports that two men from Georgia have been arrested for allegedly killing the rapper in Los Angeles last month. It is reported that an FBI task force used witness statements to arrest 22-year-old Robert Aikens and 20-year-old Shidreyius McClinton just one day after the New Orleans rapper’s death, but for an undisclosed reason, the Los Angeles Police Department kept the arrest under wraps until last week.

The LAPD has still not revealed the reason for the FBI’s involvement, but VladTV reports that it could possibly be related to a recent string of additional violent robberies that have occurred in the area. At this time, public records show that McClinton remains under custody with a $2 million bail, but no records reveal the status or whereabouts of Aikens.

Rest in peace, Scarfo Da Plug.

Disclosure Drop Dancefloor-Ready Remix For Doja Cat’s “Streets”

Doja Cat’s “Streets” has proven to be quite the sleeper hit, having gained startling momentum following the rise of the sultry “Silhouette Challenge.” With the slow-burning single more popular than ever before, it’s no surprise that Doja opted to keep the momentum rolling with an updated version, reimagined by acclaimed electronic duo Disclosure.

Off the bat, it’s clear that Disclosure’s vision for “Streets” is far different from the original. Though the same sexually-charged spirit is retained, the duo speed up the pace drastically, giving the track far more dancefloor accessibility. That’s not to say it’s lacking in nuance, however; as Doja shifts from singing to rapping, Disclosure pull back their arrangement, washing her vocals in a wave of synthesizers. Despite the vast departure, this new “Streets” is certainly enjoyable, and it’s not hard to imagine this one playing in the clubs once things start opening back up.

Check it out for yourself now, and should you be looking to compare it to the OG, peep the recently-released visuals for “Streets” right here.
